Gamma Island Snap

Was it reasonable for Sae to be playing games? Yes, because he had the day off, dammit.

The chaos of the convention had melted away into green leaves and rustling pokemon, and a little car on a track pulling him slowly forward. Pokemon were flittering everywhere, and this... this was what he wanted.

There was a place, and audience, for the more action-focused dungeons and raids and what-have-you, but given the choice between this and anything related to the quail quest?

He took a picture of a skwovet eating a berry, and didn't have to worry about randomly dying.

Angelo was excited. He had heard of a photography mini-game and had made a quick dash as soon as he could, having spent – however briefly – a childhood playing Pokémon Snap. It had once inspired him to actually pursue photography.

The environments were lush and carefully designed. Angelo rode the track in the little mobile they allotted to players, snapping photos of whatever caught his fancy – which inevitably became every single cute Pokémon he could find. He paused the ride as he spotted two players, and the excellent view of a Skwovet stuffing its face with a berry.

“That’s a Skwovet, miss!” he called, answering a player's (Tuesday) question, unable to help himself. Snap snap snap his camera went, trying to get the closest and best angles of the little Pokémon.

"Oh, Skwovet." Ariel echoes, wondering how in the world a name like that is spelled. She doesn't ask, of course. Not because there's embarrassment in asking, mind you, but because the sheer amount of Pokémon around them results to be utterly distracting. Still, she doesn't forget her manners. "I see. Thank you."

There's a cute group of little blue birds, and among them what looks like an armoured raven... or is a crow? Honestly, she has never been able to tell the difference between those.

What catches Ariel's eye next is something different, though...

There's a glimmer in the distance, soft light among bushes and trees. Thanks to the zoom of her camera, she can get a better view, although still obscured by the sheer amount of greenery: enormous fluttering wings, like those of some kind of butterfly or moth but doubtlessly much bigger. Is that supposed to be Mothra or something?

"Huh... What's that?" She asks herself, Lord Darien Blackthorne, and Saint alike, still looking through her camera. The butterfly-moth-thing rises through the trees there and then, creating a gust every time its wings flutter.

"Huh, I was wondering. It looks very... Mothra." Ariel muses once Saint identifies yet another Pokémon for her, her demeanour lacking any of the worry displayed by her new acquaintance (even though she hasn't even asked either of these men for their name).

It's not like a giant virtual fire moth can cause them any harm, right? It's like watching a 3D movie with extra steps!

So Ariel would think, but she has never played UNOVR.

So, holding onto her hat with one hand, the elegant woman raises her camera with the other, taking pictures of the gargantuan bug that begins to fly away while trying her best not to remain unshakable in the face of these gusts.

Good thing this is just a game about taking pictures, right?

Rose had been so excited to go back and visit Gamma Island. She wanted to fight giant bugs again! To find that she was stuck in a little cart was a bit saddening. But, at least she was back on Gamma Island. The beautiful jungle was still quite stunning.

Perhaps one day, the Devs would let them go visit it! Maybe that's where some of the Colossal Pokemon came from? Perhaps there were places like it!

"Ooh," Rose suddenly sat up in her seat as the cart passed by some other players, grinning ear to ear seeing the Volcarona flutter by. She took a quite snap with her little pink camera before smiling over at the others, speaking directly to Tuesday even as gusts from the giant bug had her hair flying everywhere. They were talking about something she knew about! "Mothra also has a little wormie form! I like that little wormie friend... He spits webs!"

She mumbled off, thinking about wormie friends. Rose couldn't help but idly wonder if any of her friends would be here. Perhaps Winnie would be around in the armor she made for him? Her curiosity piqued instantly, she stood up tall, face practically planted to the camera.

Of course, as Lord Darien Blackthorne spoke, Rose quickly spoke back, shouting as her face was covered by her camera. "I fought these big bugs! They totally can hurt you! They're just nice! Not like that giant Pinsir. Eww, totally rude and mean. But we beat him up! And took his body parts! We made armor out of his shell, and wore it!"

If the actual Tuesday were here, she'd gladly second Rose Garden's claims of the friendliness of most of Gamma Island's bugs (yes, Pinsir really sucks), regaling those around them with the tale of their bug-hunting adventures in the island. But, alas, despite some of the claims made these past four days, Ariel isn't really Tuesday and she certainly doesn't look the part. Such being the case, she smirks when listening to the kid.

"You're a fierce one, aren't you? Good. You should be."

And with those words, her attention turns back to the totally-not-copyright-infringing flaming Mothra, only to find herself agreeing with Saint: she definitely doesn't want to still be standing here when that thing gets closer... just in case.

"Good call, let's get moving."

Of course, she doesn't wait for the others to agree. The sooner they're far away from this moth the better, no?

And so they go, perhaps narrowly avoiding a moth's flames (ha), but not unlike Lord Darien Blackthorne, a question plagues the mind of our dearest fake-Tuesday:

"So, if they're not usually this... large, how come this one was?" She asks the group as they walk, now keeping a close eye on their surroundings in case there are any more gargantuan insects to worry about. The camera is off for now. "Don't tell me it's a radioactivity thing, since this game is called Gamma Island and all."

Isn't Gamma radiation the thing in The Hulk? Ariel vaguely remembers something like that from watching that old movie...
