Ladies and gentlemen, here's the question of the hour: Does Tuesday have a heart? Initial answer: no, because when starlitlover starts screaming and thrashing despite the fact that she has actually been helping him all this time, she feels compelled to tell him to grow the fuck up and get his shit together, and to then abandon him right where they stand. The actual answer comes a few seconds later, though. The few seconds that it takes her to remember that despite everything that had happened between them, despite all the resentment, Adarsa was once someone Mars cared deeply for. Those people, the ones he cares deeply for, are rare in his life, and they are also the few for whom he'd do just about anything. But, does he really still care about Adarsa after all this time? He shouldn't, right? They don't even know each other anymore... "Adarsa." This time, when she says his name, it's not nearly as cold, the calm and softness of her tone existing in heavy contrast with his panic. She needs him to calm down, but how could he calm down when he's hurt and thinking he's talking to some random person online who knows exactly who he is? What a dumbass. After quickly returning the spear to her inventory (if the goo doesn't come off because of it she'll be real pissed), she reaches for him again, hands cupping his cheeks and making him look into her gaze — into those eyes as golden as Mars. "It's Mars, alright? So, listen to me. You'll be fine, it's just a small burn, but I need you to calm down so I can take you to the shrine... Do you think you can walk the rest of the way?"Surely he can, right? He barely got hurt...

Cool hands grabbed his face, forcing his eyes into Tuesday's, snapping him out of the panic and pain. "Mars?" He squeaked, even as the- as Tuesday kept talking over him. Mars? This was Mars? That explained the Týr's-day and the. Staring dead at a fox monster as she killed it. He- whatever. He didn't know. He didn't have any idea.
Mars was still talking to him. A shrine. Walk to a shrine? "I- I, um-" Adarsa felt his head turn, reflexively, to try and look at his leg, Tuesday's hands keeping his head in place. Okay. Don't do that. Uh. "... yes," He asked, very slowly, like he was trying to remember what conversations were. "I- prob... ably." What a stupid answer. He had no idea where the shrine was. It could be in Montana for all he fucking knew.
But... Mars had asked. Carefully, he tried to compose himself, keeping hold of Tuesday's arm as he tested his weight on the leg.

It's a cruel twist of fate. After so many years have passed, after not having thought of Adarsa for so long, to meet him again and to meet him like this? In this game that is supposed to be Mars' time away from all the bullshit in his life? In this game where Tuesday does whatever the hell she wants, whenever she wants, and always has a great time? Things don't feel so great anymore, and the worst part of it all is that even though there's such bitterness and so many grudges that he still holds, Mars finds that he's actually... glad to see him again. Even under these circumstances. Hell, he's even worried about him because of the circumstances. So, Tuesday sighs yet again, watching as this starlitlover clings to her arm for support. "Alright, it's right ahead. Just a few minutes of walking... You'll be fine." The smile she gives him when they begin walking once again is a reassuring one, but there's too much she wishes to say that is left unsaid. There's too much history between them, but now is not the time nor the place.

Maybe it was the pain. Maybe it was the weird video game setting. Adarsa had no idea. But Mars was talking to him, even if his voice was strangely pitched- and Adarsa let out a quiet little sigh, and leaned against him, walking with Mars through the woods. It was quiet, the other animals quiet, but no sound of the fox monster, either.
"Why are you- um, dressed like that?" He asked, glancing sideways at Tuesday. There were other questions, but- but this should be an easier one. And he... he really wanted to know why Mars had decided to play online as a catgirl. It... felt bizarre. The thought to make anyone other than himself was... why would he? Adarsa squinted a bit at Tuesday. Mars didn't.... was he?

"Hm?" Tuesday had been so caught up in the thoughts and memories overtaking Mars' mind that the question takes her by surprise, and it's only after glancing down at starlitlover that she realizes what he means. Dressed like that. Dressed like a blonde woman with cat ears and an armour. It truly is the farthest thing from Mars' own appearance, and perhaps that's why Tuesday softly chuckles before giving an answer, since she really should have seen it coming. Of course Adarsa would ask, he knows how proud Mars was of his own good looks back when they were together and how much care he put into his appearance — something which definitely hasn't changed over the years. "Ah, well... Truth is that when I first started playing I was testing the game since I was thinking on investing, so I figured I'd see how far character creation could go and just how different from yourself your avatar could be. I had read somewhere that catgirls are a popular choice among gamers..." These are things Tuesday has never said to anyone in this game, and yet they're so easily revealed as they walk towards the shrine. She still holds firmly onto him, making sure to take the shortest path. "...After that, I guess I just saw no reason to change it? If I used my own face a lot of people would probably recognize me, and that could get really annoying really damn fast. So, like... this is nice. Plus, she's cute as hell, right?" She flashes a smirk in her companion's direction when speaking such words, giving his avatar a better look this time. "Yours looks nice, by the way. I dig the outfit."Is it odd that it's so easy to talk to him casually like this despite how long has passed and everything that happened the last time they saw each other? For now, Mars decides not to think about that, simply focusing on making it to the shrine.

Adarsa watched Tuesday with wide eyes, taking in the whole of the explanation. Mars had become a catgirl because... they were popular? It felt bizarre, but- If I used my own face a lot of people would probably recognize me. What did that mean? Why would anyone recognize Mars? Was he a proflific.... history professor? Adarsa had no idea.
The thought was lost, then, when Tuesday gave him a compliment. Adarsa preened, clearly thrilled enough to forget he was injured for a step, leading him to stumble and whine in pain, mashing tighter into Tuesday's side. "Ah- Thank you! I just went with what I liked." He continued to preen, splaying his soft cloak with his free hand. "I wish there was more I could have done, though, like... somethign more crown-like? I mean this is pretty- and so unique- but it doesn't have the weight I really wanted- And I just think the outfit needs something... more. Like-"
He broke off as something came into view- a massive tree, stretching up brightly into the sky. A bird was nestled in the branches, resplendant and prismatic, shimmering rainbows as they ignored both people. "Oh- What is that?" He asked, eyes locked on Moltres above.

It had always been easy to get Adarsa to smile. All it ever took was a few well-placed compliments, and Mars has always been great at giving compliments — especially when he means them. Undeniably, this was a large part of the reason why they had worked out so well together at first, and it's no surprise that a compliment still has the same result. Ada gushes about his character with excitement, barely fazed about having stumbled despite how much he was whining just a moment earlier. Tuesday ensures to hold him just a little tighter to prevent any other potential falls, and as she listens to him talk, her lips curl into a slight yet unmistakable smile. "Ha. Don't worry, the game has a lot of really cool loot. I'm sure you'll find something you like more eventually."A lot of her own attire is a testament to that, but before Tuesday can go on to explain as much, they finally make it to their destination: the Noonlight Shrine. The ancient tree is brimming with life, just as it has been ever since Moltres' revival, but that's not what Adarsa stares at: it's Moltres herself, of course. "Hm? Oh, that's Moltres... Every shrine is dedicated to a legendary Pokémon, yeah? This one is hers." Even when speaking of her, the gargantuan bird of flames pays them no mind, and Tuesday simply moves on to the matter at hand as if Moltres weren't even there. She leads Ada closer to the tree, knowing its mere proximity will do the trick when it comes to healing his injuries. "There's shrines in most areas and you come to them to heal. You really haven't been playing for long at all, huh?"With a soft chuckle, she lets go of starlitlover once sure that he can lean on the tree, sitting on one of the enormous roots of the tree.

Adarsa couldn't even be irritated at Mars, because he was too busy staring wondrously up at the prismatic phoenix, nestled in the ancient tree. "Huh? No, I- I just started." And everything that wasn't "get eaten by a giant monster in the woods came back." The woman with the questions, and the thing she'd given him- and then the trade for the other, worse thing. "Ughhhh-" He groaned, moving to sit by where Tuesday was.
"This morning I- I was in this awful little tent- without shoes! And the woman said it was normal which- ugh! And then she asked all these questions and handed me this pokemon and it- Mars it was just awful. It was like one of those things people fish up out of the depths of the ocean. And it was slimey, just! Just covered in this- ick! So- I figured, y'know, someone out there has to like stuff like that, right? So I found the- trade thingie, and I put it up there. And- and instantly, it goes away, and another ball comes out of the- the gatcha thing, right? But..." He seemed at a loss, and pulled out a pokeball- unleashing a little, adorable cyndaquil.
Adarsa had... forgotten, how easy it was to talk to Mars. Cat eared girl avatars aside. "Like- I- what even is that?" The cyndaquil squeaked.

It's almost amazing how easy it is to mimic the way things used to be. It's just like back then, isn't it? Back when Ada would meet up with him after a long day and proceed to rant about every awful and potentially over-exaggerated detail so that Mars would comfort him, and he did comfort him, of course he always did.A nostalgic smile finds its way to Tuesday's lips as she listens to starlitlover's narration of all the horrible details of his UNOVR experience so far, remembering long lost days, but unlike the way things used to be, she makes a point not to offer those same words of comfort. It sits at the tip of her tongue for a second or two: "Dulzura, it'll be okay. You're here with me now, aren't you?"Those words are flicked away with a laugh, her golden gaze fixed on the Cyndaquil Ada had just referred to as 'what even is that?'. If Tuesday cared more about the feelings of random Pokémon (or if she cared at all), she'd be offended on its behalf. "I think it's called a Cyndaquil? It's final evolution looks really cool, but there isn't enough variety in its learnset for my liking. Definitely not your style, though." She turns to look at him and smirks, well aware that Ada will probably only keep whatever Pokémon he considers to be 'cute' and not care at all about things like typing or coverage. "What kind of Pokémon would you like? You can go to Mom's House to get yourself some sneakers, by the way. It's a tutorial."She could offer him one of her spare pairs of shoes, since considering how many titles she has unlocked, she has many that she will never use, but the days when Mars gave Adarsa everything he wanted are long gone now, and so on, all Tuesday feels like offering is friendly advice. Friendly... Are they friends now?

Adarsa looked over at Mars, faintly aghast. "Sneakers? Tutorial?" He repeated, voice erring into disgust. "No- Mars- Sneakers won't be cute with this and- and I already picked out shoes!" He cried, rampant outrage at the smallest of inconveniences. "I- I made them! In the creator, when I picked out everything else! They're so pretty and black kneehigh leather boots- I'm- Why would they have me design them if they're just- Sneakers?"
And it was all so... familiar. Sitting with Mars, complaining about work or literary analysis, or... or anything, and Mars was always there, and always cared. And... and there was a heartbeat in there, maybe, where Tuesday's lips seemed to quirk, and-
And she laughed it off, and they kept going, like nothing had been left behind.
Adarsa looked down at his feet, worrying the hem of his shirt. His leg hurt less, now. The leggings had even been repaired. It seemed the shrine, and the bird atop it, really could work miracles.
Adarsa breathed out a sigh. "Um, thanks. For... killing the... thing. And for finding me the..." He gestured at it. "Big? Healing tree?"

"Ada." The nickname is spoken with perfect enunciation, ringing melodious in Tuesday's dulcet soprano. She looks at him, smiling, and there and then, one of those hands that are clad in clawed gauntlets reaches for him, oh so gently petting patting the top of his head. As if he were a kid. As if he were a puppy. It's the sort of thing Mars would have done while saying something sweet and comforting, and although different, words of comfort do manage to break free and escape Tuesday's lips:
"Sneakers can be cute, and if anyone can manage to make them look great with an outfit like this, that's you. You can also get outfits as rewards from unlocking member titles, if you'd rather give that a shot."
She decides to tell him that part because the information isn't as intuitive and readily available as the fact that there are clothing stores at the settlement. Plus, she'd rather not be the one to blame for Adarsa spending all of his bytes on clothes and being utterly useless at other aspects of the game. He can discover his own potential ruin on his own.
Is it cruel of her to be thinking such mean things of him when he's here, thanking her? Not in Tuesday's opinion, but she does appreciate the fact that he's thankful instead of whining about this too.
"Shrine. They're called shrines, although not all of them are trees." She laughs lightly, giving him a smile. "You're welcome. You better start being more careful out there, hm? I won't always be here to save you."
That part is something Adarsa should be well aware of by now.
But, why had she been here this time, then?
Perhaps that's a matter of fate.

Adarsa looked over at Mars, and smiled. “Shrines,” He repeated, an almost soft look on his face. He was… having fun, here, in these woods. It was easy, somehow, to forget the horrible creature that had attacked them. Here, it was just the big tree, the glowing bird, himself, and Mars.
“Thank you, Mars.” He repeated- and in another world he would have leaned forward, pressing a kiss to Mars’ cheek. Maybe nuzzled before leaving, maybe falling to a real kiss. Maybe getting pulled further into the branches, where they could be hidden from the rest of the world.
But. But he just smiled, reaching to set his hand on Tuesday’s, squeezing gently before shifting, somewhat-gracefully getting down from the tangle of roots.
