TRAINER SUBCLASSESCHOOSE ONE FOR YOUR CHARACTERAll player characters start with one of the three basic Trainer Subclasses, which provide aesthetic elemental effects and bonuses to favored Pokemon.
Players who max out a subclass at Tier 5 may equip an additional subclass! You may also switch Subclasses at any time for no cost, as long as the new subclass is one you have unlocked (see: Prerequisites). You will not lose any BYTES or progress you have spent on a subclass by switching it out.
More subclasses will become available later as players progress through the game!
GARDENER (Grass)Heralded by floral aromas, Gardeners have the ability to make flowers bloom, seedlings sprout, and cleanse areas of death and decay. These trainers' Grass-type Pokemon grow unnaturally large and strong or display unusual numbers of blossoms thanks to their careful tending. New greenery often buds where a Gardener has recently passed, often springing up even in their hair or belongings!
KINDLER (Fire)These smoking-hot trainers leave a trail of scorched footprints everywhere they go. Harmless embers naturally fall off their bodies, and one may find the temperature around a Kindler to be proportionally hot to their emotions. Kindler battles are often mistaken for fireworks shows, as a Kindler's Fire-type Pokemon can exude sparks and flames of any color. Kindlers also have increased resistance to heat— they don't even need oven mitts!
SWIMMER (Water)The world beneath the waves poses no problem for these Water-Type specialists, to whom water is as easy to breathe as air. It works vice versa, too: Water-type Pokemon owned by a Water Trainer are able to freely swim through the air, suffering no disadvantages on land. Rain sluices freely off a Swimmer, leaving their hair and clothes completely dry even in a deluge. Please note that aesthetic descriptions are entirely optional— you may always choose to toggle them on or off in your User Interface! BASIC SKILL TREEEach basic trainer class comes with an associated skill tree. You automatically start at Tier 1.
TIER 1: CLASS FLAVOR
- Your character has all the aesthetic features, abilities, and effects on their Pokemon as stated in the class description. Note: this is optional.
TIER 2: +5 TYPE PKMN
- Your character has chosen to specialize! You gain a +5 to Pokemon of your class's favored type.
TIER 3: +5 TYPE MOVES- Your character has learned to fine-tune their specialization. All Pokemon moves of your favored type gain a +5.
TIER 4: KNOW YOUR ENEMY- Your character knows their own type's weaknesses. Your attacks versus enemy Pokemon of your favored type are always supereffective (+20).
TIER 5: NEVER NORMAL
- When any of your character's Pokemon uses a Normal-Type Move, it becomes your favored type instead.
ADVANCED SUBCLASSESUnlike Basic Subclasses, which are all variations of the same formula, Advanced Trainer Subclasses break the mold. They may be niche, specialized, or simply unusual/creative options for the more adventurous players. Only 2 Advanced Classes may be equipped at a time, unlike Basic Subclasses, which are unlimited.

BASIC SUBCLASSES
each class corresponds to a basic pokemon type
GARDENER[tangent=Heralded by floral aromas, Gardeners have the ability to make flowers bloom, seedlings sprout, and cleanse areas of death and decay. These trainers' Grass-type Pokemon grow unnaturally large and strong or display unusual numbers of blossoms thanks to their careful tending. New greenery often buds where a Gardener has recently passed, often springing up even in their hair or belongings! Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]GRASS-TYPE[/tangent] | KINDLER[tangent=These smoking-hot trainers leave a trail of scorched footprints everywhere they go. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]FIRE-TYPE[/tangent]
| SWIMMER[tangent=The world beneath the waves poses no problem for these Water-Type specialists, to whom water is as easy to breathe as air. It works vice versa, too: Water-type Pokemon owned by a Water Trainer are able to freely swim through the air, suffering no disadvantages on land. Rain sluices freely off a Swimmer, leaving their hair and clothes completely dry even in a deluge. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]WATER-TYPE[/tangent] |
[tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in the WORLD EVENT: HIGH TIDE RAID OR completed the following requirements: - visit Beta Island
- encounter 5 game glitches
- meet C0D13 (npc)
]🔒[/tangent] BETA TESTER[tangent=Masters of the virtual space, these Normal-Type Trainers have increased control over their "digital" bodies to the point of deliberately glitching game elements to avoid obstacles or momentarily alter reality. Beta Testers have a more versatile user interface that allows them to inspect elements via custom tooltips in-game. Beta Testers may be identified by distinctive moments of pixilation around their avatars and normal-type Pokemon. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - metronome* At Tier 5, a Pokemon's Normal-Type moves may be changed to a random move type instead. Normal-Type bonuses still apply. ]NORMAL-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in CORE BREAKER (Dungeon) OR completed the following requirements: - Obtain a Bug Pokemon x3
- Bug people for something unnecessary x2
- Use a net to catch something x3
]🔒[/tangent] CATCHER[tangent=Catchers are filled with buzzing energy and a need to investigate every flower. They gain a set of aesthetic wings, similar to those of a dragonfly, butterfly, or other insect. These wings may allow them to hover above the ground, but are incapable of prolonged flight. Their Bug-type Pokemon may attract other members of their species and appear as a swarm. Catchers' hands and feet also gain immense traction, allowing them to climb walls or stick to ceilings. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]BUG-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in the CORE BREAKER (Dungeon) OR completed the following requirements: - Obtain a Steel Pokemon x2
- Visit the Giant/Thunderfall Shrine x2
- Travel North x1
- Train with your Pokemon x1
]🔒[/tangent] STEELER[tangent=Steelers are honed and forged over time by hard work, patience, and no shortage of skill. They gain metallic eyes and hair, and their Steel-type Pokemon may take on a uniquely rusted or tarnished appearance. Steelers are weakly magnetic and have the ability to switch their own polarity, naturally attracting or repelling light metal items. A Steeler may be drawn to large sources of metal, and can always perceive True North like a compass. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]STEEL-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in LAST STONE STANDING (Dungeon) OR completed the following requirements: - eat otherworldly food
- stand in a fairy circle
- see a shooting star
- thread at the new moon x1
- thread at the full moon x1
]🔒[/tangent] CHARMER[tangent=Charmers are known for their affinity to everything celestial. Stars twinkle in the air around them, and they move with a supernatural grace. You can tell where a Charmer has been by the thin layer of glitter that lingers for hours after their passing. A Charmer knows how to alter objects visually, making them temporarily appear better or worse than they truly are. A Charmer's Fairy-type Pokemon can bounce around as if in low gravity, and grow stronger under the light of the moon. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]FAIRY-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have completed the following requirements: - Physically Battle a Pokemon x3
- Choose a catchphrase
]🔒[/tangent] FIGHTER[tangent=Fighters take on enemy Pokemon with their own two hands. Whether a brawler, a wrestler, or a karate master, a Fighter's unique method of fighting allows them to join the fray alongside their team. Your character's actions in combat resemble martial arts even if they have no real-world training, and any quadrupedal Pokemon they have may become bipedal. Additionally, Fighters have a visible 'fighting spirit' aura that surrounds them during combat. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]FIGHTING-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have completed the following requirements: - drink cold drinks x3
- participate in a snowball fight x1
- dive into ice-cold water x1
]🔒[/tangent] FREEZER[tangent=All the world's a ski resort to these Ice-Type specialists, who have the ability to slide along any surface, like ice skating or snowboarding! Their Ice-type Pokemon share this frictionless ability, both of them often leaving snowflake particles in their wake. Freezers are able to withstand colder temperatures much easier, not even needing a coat! They can also chill any liquids they touch. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]ICE-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in Halloween Speed Dating (Event) OR completed the following requirements: - white out x1
- visit the everworld x1
- go ghost hunting x1
]🔒[/tangent] SPECTER[tangent=Those who choose to walk among spirits take on certain ghostly aspects in return. Their movements are eerily silent, their skin is cold to the touch, and someone who watches a Specter closely will see their feet never quite touch the ground. Specter's Ghost-type Pokemon are wreathed with a trailing, ghostly aura like a Gastly's, which fades slowly with time. Specters are skilled at becoming incorporeal in response to a threat, attacks passing right through their bodies as if they were made of mist. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]GHOST-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have had Alchemist unlocked in 2022 OR completed the following requirements: - make a new color of paint x7
- make a mess x2
- create a work of art x1
]🔒[/tangent] PAINTER[tangent=Painters are creative visionaries, able to whip up beautiful masterpieces in the blink of an eye. Their skin can drip poisonous chemicals that they can also use to paint almost like a brush. Some of them have even mastered blowing on their fingers to replicate spray-paint! Of course, these chemicals are indeed toxic, often staining their skin and hair in fascinating colors. Painters' Poison-type Pokemon may smell heavily of turpentine and leave a trail of colored footprints in their wake. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]POISON-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have had Basilisk unlocked in 2022 OR completed the following requirements: - appraise something's value x1
- reference a precious gem x3
- find something valuable x2
- get a piercing x1
]🔒[/tangent] JEWELER[tangent=Jewelers know that every stone holds the potential for beauty. Gem spawn rates are highly increased for these sharp-eyed trainers, who may often find riches in unexpected places- even growing on their own Rock-Type Pokemon! Jewelers are known to decorate themselves and their Pokemon with their own sparkly accessories, and they have a knack for fine detail with their almost-microscopic eyesight. Jewelers can be easily identified by the beautiful gem inlaid in their forehead or other prominent location. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]ROCK-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in WORLD EVENT: THE PRECIPICE CROWN OR completed the following requirements: - practice echolocation
- sense something coming without seeing it x2
- use the word 'darkness' x5
- attempt a method of fortune-telling x2
]🔒[/tangent] SEER[tangent=Effectively blind, Seers exchange their vision for the gift of foresight and powerfully enhanced listening abilities. A Seer's eyes become pure white when they take on this class, hence why many choose to wear blindfolds instead. Some may identify a Seer instead by the six shadows they cast, regardless of light source. Seers' Dark-type Pokemon may appear naturally melanistic in hue. When you equip each level of this class, you will receive a brief vision of the future. If unequipped, you will lose all memory of this vision. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]DARK-TYPE[/tangent] | DREAMER[tangent=Most players see no reason to bother sleeping in-game— Dreamers know better. Dreamers' Psychic-type Pokemon can create temporary portals to the Dream World, where they can freely reality to their desires. Small soap bubbles seem to float around a Dreamer, popping if they get surprised. Dreamers have the ability to fall asleep at will, and a sleeping Dreamer may see and hear out of their Psychic Pokemon's ears and eyes like a familiar. While asleep, the Dreamer is naturally weightless, and may float away like a helium balloon if not tethered. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]PSYCHIC-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in Mile High Club (Pre-Raid Event) OR completed the following requirements: - obtain flying pokemon x3
- battle high winds x1
- observe wild bird pokemon x3
- fall and crash from a great height x2
]🔒[/tangent] AVIATOR[tangent=Always willing to leap before they look, these flying-type specialists can be distinguished either by their bird-like wings or the patches of feathers elsewhere on their body. While incapable of true flight, Aviators have the power of double-jump, springing off the air itself to reach new, never-before-seen heights. Aviators' flying-type Pokemon are unusually strong in the air, capable of lifting and carrying massive burdens many times their weight or size! Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]FLYING-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in WORLD EVENT: THUNDERFALL RAID OR completed the following requirements: - acquire Running Shoes from NPC Mom x1
- participate in a race or other speed contest x1
- retreat from a wild pokemon x3
- be struck by lightning x1
- have Pokemon Speech enabled
]🔒[/tangent] BOLTER[tangent=Count on a Bolter to make a quick getaway: upon equipping this class, the trainer's Running Shoes receive an electrifying upgrade, allowing them to sprint at incredible, accelerated speeds. These high-power trainers flicker brightly with static electricity, and their electric-type Pokemon can always magnet-rise above the ground. A Bolter may find that they naturally draw lightning to themselves like a lightningrod, though they seem to be able to harmlessly discharge the effect into their surroundings. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]ELECTRIC-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in STORY QUEST: SILENT NIGHT OR completed the following requirements: - revive a pokemon from a fossil
- discover a burial site or graveyard
- dig up human or pokemon remains
- put someone in the ground
]🔒[/tangent] GRAVEDIGGER[tangent=These grim, ground-type specialists have the power to sense things hidden underground— and to access them. At a mere touch, the earth splits open at their command, birthing Pokemon skeletons to do their bidding. Their Ground-Type Pokemon may appear undead, or may contain remnants of small bones and fossils. Gravediggers often imbue their necromatic power in a special item, such as a grimoire or staff, though many still prefer the tried-and-true tool of their trade: the shovel. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]GROUND-TYPE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have completed the following requirements: ]🔒[/tangent] LOCKED[tangent=Play more of the game to unlock this basic subclass!
]UNKNOWN[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have rolled a 20 in Story Quest 2: Heart of Darknyas OR completed the following requirements: - complete a thread in the Corruption Zone x3
- directly ingest, inject, or imbibe a source of Corruption x1
]🔒[/tangent] PARASITE[tangent=This subclass equips itself to the player at Tier 1. It cannot be removed until fully unlocked or replaced by a different secondary subclass. Characters afflicted by this sentient subclass are a bane to the natural world. Plants rot and shrivel in their presence, vitality leeched away by something sinister. Nearby People and Pokemon may find themselves afflicted by violent or unnatural impulses as this player's proximity triggers unpleasant memories. This subclass's presence may also manifest as a voice that only the player can hear. You are free to characterize the Parasite as you wish. Tier 2 - pkmn +5 Tier 3 - moves +5 Tier 4 - know your enemy Tier 5 - never normal ]CORRUPTION[/tangent] |

ADVANCED SUBCLASSES
classes with unique traits and abilities. limit: 2[tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in The Midas Rush (Dungeon) OR completed the following requirements: - fall victim to your own greed
- reflect on the nature of gold
- collect poison samples from 5 different pokemon
- perform an experiment that goes wrong
]🔒[/tangent] ALCHEMIST[tangent=Alchemist Players are characterized by greed and ambition, and are the living embodiments of "success at a cost." Alchemists have the Midas Touch, transforming inorganic materials to gold via physical contact. This is unconscious on the part of the user, and the effect fades with time. Alchemists' Pokémon's humors gain unusual effects, such as healing or flammability, and they make excellent Support specialists. Tier 2 - poison-type immunity Tier 3 - status moves +5 Tier 4 - healing +10 Tier 5 - max revive* *as per the elixir of life, Alchemists can use the revive core ability to bring a fainted pokemon back at full HP. The pokemon using this ability still faints. ]SUPPORT SPECIALIST[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in The Midas Rush (Dungeon) OR completed the following requirements: - hunt something innocent for your own gain
- sacrifice a Pokemon, but keep its eye
- use or be the recipient of a Curse attack
]🔒[/tangent] BASILISK[tangent=Basilisk Players are the recipients of a terrible curse and must learn to live with the effects over time. Basilisks have the Medusa-like ability to turn organic materials to stone via gaze. This is unconscious on the part of the user and does not affect other Player Characters or bosses. Their own Pokémon gain stony features and may become stone entirely over time. Basilisks make excellent Tank specialists. Tier 2 - 2nd type becomes rock Tier 3 - rock pkmn hp +10% Tier 4 - charge atk +20 Tier 5 - wide guard* *When a Tank Pokemon uses the guard core ability, you may choose two targets to guard instead of one. The guarding pokemon will take 3x damage. ]TANK SPECIALIST[/tangent]
| [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in the CORE BREAKER (Dungeon) Escort the Prince (Side Quest) OR completed the following requirements: - Obtain x1 fire and x1 steel pkmn
- Harvest iron ore x1
- Craft imperfect armor x1
- Fight a Pokemon using that armor x1
]🔒[/tangent] IRONSMITH[tangent=Ironsmiths are masters of the craft, building weapons and armor with which to outfit their team and/or themselves in combat. An Ironsmith always appears in full plate armor, regardless of what clothes they are actually wearing. Ironsmith is the only class permitted to wield a functional weapon in combat. As they progress through their career, Ironsmiths learn to forge protective armor for their weaker teammates and steel weapons for those on the front lines.
Tier 2 - sweeper armor +50 HP Tier 3 - support armor +50 HP Tier 4 - sweeper weapons +5 Tier 5 - tank weapons +20 ]ARMOR & WEAPONS[/tangent] | [tangent= To simultaneously unlock this subclass, two players must have completed the following requirements: - interact in x5 threads together
- have at least x1 thread one on one
- share a kiss or explicitly verbal/written expression of love
]🔒[/tangent] COUPLE[tangent=People and Pokémon around a Couple may be swayed by the influence of their love, gaining temporary feelings of affection for other people in the vicinity. The Couple has a subtle aesthetic "rising hearts" effect that grows stronger and more obvious the closer they are in proximity to one another. There is a subtle background music change when the partners are in physical contact.
Tier 2 - +5 to all pkmn when partner in same thread Tier 3 - +10 to heal your partner's pkmn Tier 4 - +5 bonus to buff your partner's pkmn Tier 5 - transfer a subclass bonus to partner while in physical contact with them ]PAIR BONUSES[/tangent] | STARLET[tangent=Starlets move to an unheard beat, twirling and tapping their way through UNOVR. A Starlet's Pokemon each have individual musical themes, which are triggered when they start to dance (see Tier 1). The Starlet and their partner command the spotlight in battle, and those nearby find themselves swept up in the infectious rhythm of this deadly duet.
At the start of battle, the Starlet picks a partner to dance with. This partner can ONLY be changed during battle if the previous partner faints. Any buff or heal actions the Starlet takes cannot target a Pokemon other than their partner.
At Tier 1, the Player is automatically equipped in Support.
Tier 2 - When buffing your partner, two nearby Pokemon receive the same buff. Tier 3 - When healing your partner, a nearby Pokemon gains half as much healing. Tier 4 - Every attack your partner makes is Super Effective. Tier 5 - You can skip your turn to give your partner a second action on their turn. ]SUPPORT SPECIALIST[/tangent]
| [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in WORLD EVENT: NOONLIGHT RAID OR completed the following requirements: - meet NPC: Cygnus
- acquire germanium, americium, and ytterbium
- x2 fight a source of Corruption
- x1 find what's at the end of a rainbow
]🔒[/tangent] CATALYST[tangent=Infused by radiation from trace metals, Catalyst players are chaotic team players who channel prismatic energies to empower their allies in battle. Other players may notice light shines through Catalysts like a prism, casting small, kaleidoscopic rainbows on the ground behind them. Catalyst Pokémon benefit from their unstable energies, automatically gaining the Exploding Dice feature at Tier 1. As they accrue explosions, a Catalyst begins to emanate dangerous heat, light, and shifting colors from the center of their chest. Triggering Overclock (see spoiler at the bottom of the page) at 2 stacks will cause these players to release an uncontrolled burst of energy that washes over the battlefield. Tier 2 - Overclock +20 Tier 3 - Overclock Recoil Tier 4 - Overclock Dynamax (Mega Evolve) Tier 5 - Explode on 1* *At Tier 5, Catalyst Pkmn also gain a stack of Overclock when rolling a 1. ]EXPLODING DICE[/tangent] | [tangent= To unlock this subclass, a player must have participated in The Shadow Over Asper OR completed the following requirements: - find a cursed item in the Abandoned Village
- be hunted by something you can't see
- 5x feel that you are being watched
- take shelter from danger with someone
]🔒[/tangent] DREAD[tangent=Dread players know that their days are numbered. They keep moving, always looking over their shoulder, waiting for the jaws of fate to close around them.
The longer a player with Dread stands still, the more prominent the signs of their demise become. Their body may shift into black and white. Curse marks may appear and grow on their skin. Ominous music may begin to play in the background, and the sound of their heartbeat will become louder, and louder, and louder.
At Tier 1, your Pokemon take double strain as they buckle under the weight of impending doom. But perhaps even this dreadful timer has its advantages.
Tier 2: +10 damage when below 50% HP Tier 3: You can't be hit supereffectively. Tier 4: Your Pokemon can use Escape or Sacrifice as a bonus Core Ability on their turn. Tier 5: All healing and damage are doubled on a turn where you faint from Strain. ]THE HUNTED ONE[/tangent] | THERIAN[tangent=Some players take on Pokemon in battle. Therians take this more literally. These talented shape-shifters are masters of transformation, either partial (a hand, a claw, a wing) or complete (their entire body). Any Pokemon in their possession is a potential candidate, and a player with this subclass instinctively knows how to read that biological blueprint. Powerful as they are, Therian abilities are fragile: as they take damage, they begin to revert to their true shape again. In alignment with their animalistic natures, Therian's bipedal Pokemon may become quadrupedal upon equipping this class.
While transformed, a Therian still uses their Player stats (rarity, class, player tomes) but gains their new form's learnset and Pokemon Type. The Pokemon you can transform into are dictated by your current Tier, and are based on Egg Group. You must have acquired this Pokemon to accurately learn its form.
Tier 1 - human-like and monster groups Tier 2 - field, flying, and fairy groups Tier 3 - water 1-2-3 and bug groups Tier 4 - mineral, grass, and amorphous Tier 5 - dragon, genderless, and legendary ]TRANSFORMATION[/tangent] | CONTACT[tangent=There are as many alien worlds as there are stars in the sky, and for these lonely extraplanar wanderers, you are First Contact. A Contact represents a bond of shared experience and memory. Though you may not share a common language, you have reached a level of mutual understanding. A human through which an Ultra Beast has made Contact can understand them perfectly, and has additionally mastered the ability to transmit whole snippets of memory to other life-forms they make physical contact with. All Ultra Beasts are naturally immune to Corruption, meaning the -type cannot affect them. As the Contact levels up in this class, this immunity can extend to the Player as well, and one's Ultra Beasts become better-equipped to face this foreign world by your side. Tier 1 - Ability to understand Ultra Beasts Tier 2 - +5 to All UBs Tier 3 - Player immune to while in contact with UB Tier 4 - UB Supereffective vs Tier 5 - UB Max Refresh (will reach Very Rare after 1 Refresh) ]ULTRA BEASTS[/tangent] |

THE PLAYERTake on Pokemon Battles with your own two handsPokémon themselves are best-equipped to fight other Pokémon, but those who prefer a more "hands-on" approach have the option of equipping themselves in a Pokémon Class slot instead. Just be careful: there are good reasons trainers usually stay back during the high-intensity combat common to Pokémon Battles!
WARNING: By equipping yourself in a Pokémon Class (Tank, Sweeper, or Support) you will become vulnerable to all Pokémon attacks. You may now draw direct aggro from Wild Pokémon, and you may be freely targeted by both enemy Pokémon and friendly fire. If you faint, your entire Pokémon Team will white out alongside you and you will be forced to respawn from the closest Shrine location.
When equipped in a Pokémon Class, the Player may damage Pokémon opponents via any attacking method they might devise, whether that be physical (brawling, martial arts, etc) or special (energy blasts, "magic" etc). Please note the Ironsmith subclass must be equipped in order to wield any kind of physical weapons, as these are usually not permitted on UNOVR.
Players have NO TYPE (therefore no weaknesses - this is by design in order to reduce fatalities) and only use moves by default. However, Players may purchase Tomes from the in-game shop to unlock new elemental types. A Player may be also equipped with Type or Move Mods to change their Pokémon Type or learn specific Pokémon Moves.
While equipped in a Pokémon Class, the Player is considered to be a Pokémon for all intents and purposes. The Player starts as Common (+0) but may purchase Rarity Upgrades in the in-game shop up to a maximum of Very Rare (+15). Because of this, the Player can not Mega Evolve (unless they obtain a Max Mushroom, triggering the Dynamax effect).
