WELCOME TO THE VIRTUAL WORLD OF UNOVR![/h4] You arrive at the Pokemon Lab on the edge of a new frontier— miles of unexplored wilderness that hide secrets, corrupted Pokémon, and unknown potential. As you are teleported from the starting screen into the Lab, you don't know where to step, much less move. Books are stacked in haphazard piles on the floor, beakers of bubbling black fluid balanced precariously atop them. Styrofoam containers of old takeout are piled up in the garbage bin. Strange machines built of PVC piping and salvaged materials are scattered around like a car show gone wrong, some clearly still in-progress, some in the process of being rebuilt. A small woman in a stained lab coat is crouched on top of the desk, looking for something. "Where is it... where is it... NYA-HA!" Athysh, She straightens up triumphantly, fitting an oversized monocle into one eye, and scooches forward so that her legs now dangle off the front of the desk like a kid in a high chair. "There we nyare! Hiya, nyewb! I'm Dr. Bunya!"Your eyes are drawn to the display case behind her, where 27 sealed Pokeballs wait quietly behind the glass. Picking up a clipboard, Ash gestures for you to take a seat across from her at the desk. "Before I assign you a partner, I need to confirm a few details of your personality," she says, tone measured. "Pokemon are complex creatures. It's essential to match them with their trainers correctly. If you don't mind, I'd just like to ask you a few questions."She clicks her pen, offering you a reassuring smile. "Don't think of it like 'an interview.' Think of it like... a game."Athysh: REPLY TO START THE INTERVIEW![/blockquote]

Vivi - no, Athysh was ready for this. The starting moment to be where she wanted to be, and not where she had to be. The moment her screen went from start, and into the game, Athysh took a moment to look around. She was not in a place where she thought a pokemon lab would be, but, she was going to work with it. In real life, the sudden movement and voice that happened, would have made her jump, but, Athysh wasn't like that.
Instead, she looked at the Pokemon Professor, and immediately wanted to give the most sarcastic response back in the world, and well, almost did. "I would hope so, otherwise, there would be some issues." The blue haired woman looked at Professor Ash before looking at the poster on the wall. There were the options, she figured, of the starters that were available. But, which one was she going to be gaining for herself today?
That was the grand question. "So, a game of twenty questions, then? Almost feels like you're issuing me a midterm exam. But, let's start, shall we." Athysh looked from the poster back to Professor Ash, waiting to see just what these 'game' questions were going to consist of.

"Not twenty," the Professor says, simply. "Just three."
Twenty questions would likely provide an even more accurate and state-of-the-art assessment, but most beginning trainers would probably walk out before they ever finished answering.
Once you're sitting down and receptive, Professor Ash gives a single nod. "Excellent. Let's begin." The Professor's attitude turns brisk, and she asks you the following three questions.
[AshQ]VykkhQEe1d50
[AshQ]1d50
[AshQ]1d50
Athysh: ANSWER THE THREE QUESTIONS TO RECIEVE YOUR STARTER! 1d50·1d50·1d50

Just three questions. Athysh wondered if that was actually enough. Were three questions really going to teach Professor Ash what it was that she wanted to know, to be able to pair Athysh with the best pokemon? Athysh merely just nodded as she sat down, and thought about what kind of question she could be asked right now.
"How easily do you give in under pressure?" Which part of Athysh did Vivianne want to answer this? The persona that was Athysh, or the actual person behind the screen, playing the persona. Vivi could easily give in to pressure, but, she didn't want to be like that here in Unovr. She wanted to be the opposite. "I would say not easily. It would be easier to get me to walk away from a situation that puts me under pressure, if it's another person at least. But, if pressure is being put upon me by a pokemon, or an animal, then I might crumble easily, depending on the pressure."
If the pressure that was being put upon Athysh was the pressure of saving a pokemon from a sticky situation, then she was going to help. If it was a pokemon that she knew she wouldn't be able to battle, comfortably, then she would try to find a way to get away.
"What do you do when you make a mistake?" Oh, that one was easy. Athysh wasn't one to let a mistake stay showing, unless she can't help it. "If the mistake can be fixed, then I'm going to fix it. I don't like to know that I've done something wrong, and did nothing to fix it. It could harm someone else, or something else, and create a much larger problem. If I can't find a way to fix it, then I will do my best to find someone who can help me, even if it means admitting that I've made this mistake." A simple answer to a question that could possibly play a large part in something that goes wrong in such a small way.
"What do you think is the worst thing that can be done to a person?" Oh, there are so many answers to this one question. So many answers that could show who she really was, and truthfully, it kind of scared her in a way. "It depends on the situation, really. But, there is one that hit close to home for myself. Say someone is lied to by the one person whom they trust the most, that would be the worst, because that trust is broken, and the person lied to, starts to feel like they aren't able to trust anyone anymore. That everyone is going to lie to them, and that they'll never know the truth when they want to know it."
She let a bit of her feelings go into that answer, but Athysh did her best to not let that show on her face. Was that possible within the game? There was no real way for her to be able to tell, but, she answered the questions truthfully, if not from the players point of view, then in the character's point of view.

The Professor nods, taking notes on her clipboard as you give your answers. She treats each response with the same level of professional seriousness, as if even your interpretations of her questions are significant in her calculations. These are complex questions, and the way a mind jumps between assumptions displays a lot about the person answering: What they expect to hear, what they want to hear, and most importantly what they are willing to answer.
"Thank you, Athysh," she says simply once the player character is finished. She checks the time on a thin wristwatch, tapping her chin with the end of her pen. "That's all the data I need for now."
She tears off the sheet of paper she was writing on and reaches absentmindedly down into the file cabinet beneath the desk, unlocking it with a satisfying click.
After consulting her notes one more time and glancing up at the poster on the wall, Ash selects a single Pokeball.
"Based on your personality profile, I've determined this will be the ideal starter Pokemon for you," she says, tone even, then sets the Pokeball in your hands. On the front is a piece of white tape with the name of the Pokemon written in precise, angular letters.

Those questions felt simple, but difficult at the same time. Perhaps it was because of that last one. Each person thought something different, so it would have been no surprise to her if that was the sole question that determined what player got which character. Of course, not that she knew exactly, it wasn't like she helped develop the game. It didn't matter, because it seemed like her time was running out, judging by how Professor Ash checked her watch. Was that really something that could happen in the game? Interesting.
"You're welcome, Professor," she repled simply. Respect and kindness only went so far, but, the professor was helping her by getting her the starter pokemon for her. It was only right that she be polite in return, even if it almost felt like poison on her tongue at this point. Athysh was really starting to get into character fully, and it was a good thing. Athysh watched the professor, curious as to what she was getting out of that file cabinet. Is that really where all the pokemon were kept?
In real life, it would feel too small, but this was a game, so that single drawer probably had an infinite amount of space, and inventory. Athysh held her hands out, and craddled the pokeball, looking at the name on it. Rowlet, a grass type pokemon. A solid starter in Athysh's mind. "Thank you, I'll take wonderful care of them." As she said this, she did press the button on the ball to release the Rowlet, and she studied her new partner carefully.
Yes, this was going to be a great pokemon to start her adventure with.

Professor Ash watches you take the Pokeball. "I'm sure you will."
She stands to open the tent flap for you, lab coat swirling. "You are now— officially— a Pokemon Trainer. Your UI should now be fully activated, and you now have the ability to catch wild Pokemon. If we are to successfully survey this region, acquiring this skill will be essential."
Icons appear in your field of vision as she speaks, arraying themselves in a glowing line. Prompts for TUTORIAL MODE overlay one another in a stack of miniature pop-ups, prompting you to do things like say goodbye to your mother! and battle your rival!.
With so much going on, it may be difficult to still focus on Professor Ash. But she hasn't stopped watching you.
"I'm afraid you'll need to find your way back to Briarbane from here. Don't worry— the path should be well-marked." Ash's eyes are level, and she gives you a single nod.
"You and your Pokemon will have much to face in the days ahead. It won't be easy, but I'll be counting on you to manage. Good luck, Athysh. I'll be in touch."
