Could she live here? Just move in and set up game in the carriage? She could be quiet and inconspicuous – Cygnus wouldn’t even notice she was here! Speaking of Cygnus, the NPC in question hurries her along into the steampunk paradise. Taylor can’t help but grin, turning on the spot in a neat circle as she takes it all in. Oh yes, she definitely joined the right guild.

His voice snaps her out of her daze, and she jumped to attention. “Right, right!” She nods, hurrying to open the interface. “One Eevee, please. Trading these five in exchange.”

Taylor trades purple patches Magikarp, brown zebra Magikarp, Burmy, Patrat and Galarian Meowth for Eevee.

Steampunk is not his personal aesthetic choice, but even Muin can admit that CYGNUS' CARRIAGE has a great vibe going. The instant dry-cleaning sure is a nice plus too, and after stepping in and smoothing down his clothes, his attention turns to the man behind the counter.

Thirty seconds to decide.

Thankfully, Muin had come here knowing exactly what he wanted.

"I would like a Honedge, if you still have any available." He says, ever composed and in no rush. Naturally, he also doesn't rush to produce the ten Pokéballs and place them on the counter: one by one, side by side, arranged in a perfect line.

The Honedge isn't really for him, it's meant for another trade, but Cygnus doesn't need to be told all of that. After all, this is a business, and these Pokémon will likely go to funding Cygnus' research.

Cygnus is working with Burmy when Muin arrives. The Bug Pokemon hangs from a ceiling pipe, watching as the guild leader runs tests on extracted silk. A machine stretches the silk, and it reaches breaking point with a soft twang. "Incredible tensile strength," Cygnus says, taking down a note of the final reading, and for a moment he looks incredibly like Professor Ash. It's no surprise that the two hold each other in such high regard.

He puts down his leather-bound notebook and appraises your row of Pokemon, showing obvious pleasure at their ordered presentation. "Looks like I'll be working with botanicals for a while," he says, before reaching the three Impidimps. "Three? Well, I guess there's no harm in having duplicates." He puts a sticker on one of the Pokeballs and writes the word CONTROL in large, blocky letters.

"And here's your Honedge. Come back again some time," he says, handing you a polished brass ball before turning back to his work.

"Yeah I'll get your Eevee in a second. Help me out," Cygnus says, handing Silvermoon a sharp knife with an oak and steel-stud handle. He moves a wooden board over to the counter. On the board are stretched out two pieces of woven, botanical material, and two pieces of silk. "Stab each of these as hard as you can, and tell me which is hardest to pierce."

As Silvermoon assists with the blind trial, Cygnus retrieves the Eevee ball from its pressurized tube. As the knife test is going on, he processes the trade. "Good thing I didn't start those Impidimp tests yet," he says, shaking his head as he adds the fairy type to a pile off to one side of his work space. He looks intrigued at the Mareep, Mr. Mime, and Shuckle. "Oh these are positively shining with potential. You've given me a lot to work with. Thank you!"

And he's back to work, checking the results of your stabbing against those of his own attempts.

Cygnus is busy working with the Impidimp when Verai arrives, and doesn't look over as the man places his trade on the table. "Not enough movement," he says, shaking his head. "If we're going to get meaningful results we need to strengthen your skin control before evolution. We only get one shot at this, so please focus!" The chastised Impidimp hang their heads and go back to their respective facial exercises, pulling a variety of different expressions while the one labelled 'Control' sits off to the side, straight-faced.

"An assistant?" Cygnus asks, studying Verai's frame before catching his meaning and taking the ball instead. "It takes a special type to be of use in a lab, and I'm sure you can't guarantee that this one has the temperament for it." He shrugs and sends out the Espurr, who begins to wander around the train. "Don't touch anything," he says, handing the cat a piece of paper with a list of facial exercises, "and keep an eye on these Impidimp. Make sure they're practicing the correct expressions."

He turns back to Verai. "I'm willing to give something a try. That's how science works, isn't it. Now let's see what else you've brought me." He divides the Pokemon into two piles, muttering something about wheat and chaff. "Lots to work with here. I'm especially interested in the Pumpkaboo. There is a lot of research still to be done with botanicals, and a partial ghost type could provide some truly unique material properties."

As he retrieves the Honedge ball from his cabinet his looks back over to the Espurr, who is dutifully watching the Impidimp. The cat's massive eyes never blink, and Cygnus gives a little chuff of approval. "It's very focused, isn't it." He hands the Honedge to Verai, and then looks pointedly to the door. "Thanks, come back whenever."

Bergamot Gristleborg arrives in the midst of an experiment. Multiple Pokemon surround a lone Pumpkaboo, each of them attacking it with a barrage of ineffective Normal attacks. "Is there a limit?" Cygnus wonders aloud. "And if not, what does that say about our world? How can a plant be dead? Where does body end and soul begin?"

He reaches for an antique sword, a dainty rapier with a gleaming basket hilt, but instead another sword falls into his hands. Something less glitzy and more practical. A hard working blade, sharp enough to sever a thread of fate, yet strong enough to hold up a young girl.

The sword moves through him like a ghost through a mortal, passing into Chryssa's hands like an inheritance.

"Here you are," he says uncertainly, the blade already in her hands. "It's all yours."

The words are rote. Formal and unnecessary. Of course it's hers. It always was.

As soon as she hybrid opened to the doors to the shop, a cloud of stream blasted her face and taking all the available oxygen for a moment. “What the-“ the woman choked, coughing up a lung as she entered the shop and panicked slightly when the shop keep demanded for her to close the door, “Sorry.”

Her hand waved before her face, trying to recovered from the sudden lack of oxygen. Pale golden orbs flickered from the steampunk decor to the many pokemon offered up for sale. Rhaenyra moved through the cages, silently admiring some of the creatures before her eyes widened at the sight of what she was here for.

Her wolf ears perched forward, giving Cygnus a clear indication what she was here for. However, his attitude wasn’t the most appealing. She met his gaze, nose crinkled at him and a look of displeasure washed over her features. “I was interested in an eevee,” Rhaenyra bit back, unintentionally sounding more bitter than she wanted it to be, “Do you even have any good ones?” The wolf woman moved to the counter, reaching into her pockets for the five spheres filled with pokemon before placing them on the counter tentatively. “I got this to offer.”

Silvermoon pushed open the door to the carriage, steam rustling their cloak. It… felt different, now, even beyond the improvements Silvermoon can see. Maybe the cabin isn’t what’s changed. “Cygnus!” Silvermoon smiled, looking up at the man.

“I’d like a swablu this time, please.” They said, eyes going to the glimmering, brassy pokeball. “These pokemon should all be able to help- Especially if your cyndaquil and sobble need a break!” They offered, smilling brilliantly.
