Silvermoon pulled themselves into the traincar, taking a breath in the ionized air. “Morning!” They called, inspecting today’s experiment with bright eyes. “Are my old pokemon helping out?” They asked, curiousity- and not fear- in their voice.
“Oh- Right! I... I thought this might be of interest, to you. After…” Silvermoon finally felt themselves trailing off, unsure quite what to say. It was still all too much. They swallowed, and pulled free not a pokeball- but a gleaming vial, a swirling, sparking strand of DNA within.

"Of course," he mutters, putting on a pair of heavy leather gloves. He picks up a set of long tongs and uses them to grab a plate of glowing metal from inside the mouth of a nearby Slugma. He secures the plate in a wide clamp and spins the bar forcing the red-hot plate down onto a hunk of shimmering green stone. Steam pours from the contact point as the materials are forced together. A high whine fills the air and the heated plates cracks, then shatters. Chunks of burnt metal fall from the clamp and scatter across the floor. Cygnus inspects the green mineral and makes a note on a nearby pad.
Cygnus turns to Silvermoon and takes the vial. He briefly inspects the DNA, determines it to be genuine, and then brings out a locked chest from below the counter. He opens the chest with a thumbprint, two keys, and a combination entered in strange symbols. Inside, nestled in white velvet is a star-shaped strand of DNA. "Take the strand, don't touch the box," he says, turning back to his work.
It is clear that he respects your contributions to Mythstar. Otherwise he wouldn't have warned you not to touch the box.

It took her some time to gather another five pokemon this time around. Mostly, real life has limited her being able to play. Luckily though, the person she agreed with for this trade deal was still interested. And only after checking the latest new feed to be sure she wasn't missing anything crazy, the half wolf half human avatar headed to her local guild trade shop to get it done.
Pale golden orbs flickered to Cygnus, expression flat as a board. She was quick to place her offerings on the table, eager to get this trade done with so she can complete the other. "I would like the eevee," she replied confidently, pushing the five sphere to the shop owner, "These should do." Part of her felt bad for trading away good pokemon. But, this was a game and part of it.

Some people wondered why Morgana had joined Mythstar. Surely a villainess (even a self-proclaimed one) belonged in the Creed with similarly cool, edgy, evil (?) characters. Amusing as the idea was of rubbing elbows with edgelords, pretending to be the same kind of high-stakes power gamer, Bergamot knew she'd get tired of it. Though perhaps disappointing other players who took her more seriously than she deserved was its own type of villainy. Interesting. I'll have to think about that. She wouldn't mind a username color change. But the real reason she'd joined Mythstar was simply because, at the end of the day, it suited Chryssa best. Far horizons. Testing her limits. Buying into story, unraveling legends. Actually, based on the Guild Descriptions perhaps she should have joined Round 2 for social players, as more than anything else Chryssa played for the captive audience. Anyway, she was still here and still in Mythstar, so it was time to pay Cygnus a visit. "Are you in here, old man?" Morgana asked, popping her head in the door. "I'm here to collect the 'star'. The Mythstar. I was promised one when I joined and I am sorely disappointed." She came in the rest of the way, holding out a white-gloved hand expectantly. "Just think of it as a... oh, what do you call it when someone shows up at a store or a restaurant and asks for all the money in the register? A holdup? That sounds awfully old-timey, but I suppose you'd like that."She lowered her hand after a moment, giving an annoyed hair flip. "But I suppose if you insist on sacrificing your own body to prevent me from stealing Staryu, I can offer a trade," she said after a moment. She didn't seem too disappointed, as if she hadn't expected it to work. "...A Mareep, then?" She couldn't even remember how she'd gotten it. Offering MAREEP for STARYU

"Yes. Fine. Well done Bergamot Gristleborg. You've solved the great riddle et cetera. Your 'Mythstar' is on the counter." He motions towards a jar of punched steel stars that have been painted a uniform gold.
"Oh a trade?" he perks up and wanders over to inspect your offering. "I never have enough Mareep for my experiments," he complains, taking the Pokeball from you. In exchange, he hands over the true Mythstar: a Staryu.

Torino walked through the train cars, marveling at the engineering. Steam raced through clear or copper tubes, setting whirly bits whirring and releasing sporadically in little shrill whistles. The whole place was a dream! It was warm, it was enclosed, and it raced through the land across gorgeous rails. "If we had a train we could have run forever!" Torino proclaimed, patting one of the sizzling walls like it was a prized racehorse. "So fast!"
Through the portholes she could see the Surge Steppes race by, and occasionally the body of a helper Pokemon would fly and run into view. It was glorious. She felt like part of a vanguard, always charging into battle.
She wandered through train cars, checking out the accommodation and planning visits to all the exciting places aboard. The hydroponics lab, the textiles test range, and especially the fore and aft propulsion chambers.
Torino reached Cygnus' chambers. The steam was different here. More concentrated. It frizzed her hair and made her brain spark with new ideas. "I should make a cloak from Mareep wool!" she said, apropos of nothing. Her brain was in overdrive and it felt wonderful.
"And I will take that!" she said pointing at the Jirachi DNA in the cabinet. It twisted like a strand of bound cosmos. It filled her eyes with stars and dreams of iron.

"Hey, uh, Cygnus?" Laguna swiftly called out, popping her head into the train car after the pneumatic door hissed open. "Look, I acknowledge I've been busy, haven't been around. But really, you should come and see this?"
She'd motion to outside the train, pointing out a window within the cabin with a slightly nervous expression on her face.
The over 30 foot tall rocket ship of an Ultra Beast, stood outside in the middle of the Steppes, standing tall amidst the metallic spires that rose up from the earth. Like a skyscraper standing tall amidst the ruins of a storm, and for some reason, embracing it fully. They stayed put, staring up into the sky as if it somehow had answers that they could find if they looked hard enough for it. Thrusters swayed at its side, occasionally blasting flames at any wild Pokémon that dared get too close, curious about this new stranger within a familiar land.
Lightning crackled across the sky, and the beasts eyes seemed to sparkle. It was weak to the powers of electricty, and yet right now it seemed as if it was drawn straight to the danger like a moth to a flame, about to be swallowed whole.
It was only a matter of time before lightning struck the tallest metal beast there was. Even as the train rumbled on, they remained still, waiting for something, anything, that nobody could understand. Or maybe it was looking at something that everyone else couldn't see.
"I was trying to bring them to you," Laguna explained, brushing the dirt off her skirt. "And they just, started acting irrational. I'm not sure if you're informed what that is, but-"
She had to pause to breathe, truly out of breath after chasing it down across the Steppes before it rooted itself.
"That is a Celesteela. Supposedly, an "Ultra Beast" from "Ultra Space." It's... Complicated. Think of it like, this interdimensional realm, with wormholes to different worlds and dimensions. There are doors at the bottom of the harbor in Ostelia like that. But- Nevermind, none of that is why I am here."
"Clearly, you know by now that some of us can speak to Pokémon. Like, directly." She'd pause for a second, fingers gently brushing against the broken Gold Pokéball at her hip. "We can't with any of the Ultra Beasts. And outside of Ostelia, they seem to just... act insane. I've already done some research, apparently there is some Voice that demands things of them there. Maybe being so far away from it is the cause? The truth is, I don't know anyone else out there who possibly could figure anything out about them, except you."
She'd turn to face Cygnus properly this time, hoping the Celesteela wouldn't actually knock itself out by trying to summon lightning. "They're apparently great at fighting the Corruption, and maybe they can help your research, just as you could help them."
Laguna blinked, only to remember that she was technically in a trade shop. It felt... almost uncomfortable, but she supposed this was completely normal, for almost everyone. "I'm putting my faith in you to take care of them. I'll welcome one of the Staryu to my team, I guess. I know how the trades work, but realistically I might just try and find a safe home for them too. Just... Promise me you'll be kind to them. I swear there is a gentle soul beneath that steel exterior."

Cygnus is hard at work when Torino arrives. At her voiced suggestion he turns around, a slim smile of satisfaction curling his moustache. "My Eureka Steam works then!"
"Mareep wool cloak is not a bad idea," he agrees. "Great insulator, and perhaps could hold voltage for attacks." He makes a quick note to research it later. "I'm sure someone traded me Mareep. I'll look into it when I have time."
His attention shifts to Torino, as if seeing her for the first time. "You're new." Not a question. He reaches out and takes the DNA from her. He briefly inspects the DNA, determines it to be genuine, and then brings out a locked chest from below the counter. He opens the chest with a thumbprint, two keys, and a combination entered in strange symbols. Inside, nestled in white velvet is a star-shaped strand of DNA. Cygnus follows your chain of facts and information to the logical conclusion. "A potential weapon against the Corruption. A way to clear Mistra without using the shrines."
He stands at the open door of the carriage for a moment, before ducking back inside and behind his workbench. There is a clattering, a muttering of [tangent=Somnus insomnis Telluris fulmine finitur] strange sounds[/tangent], and then the whir of electronics unlocking. Cygnus returns holding several things: A trio of Pokeballs, a canister filled with darkness, and a coil of insulated wires. He hands you one of the Pokeballs, which has the Mythstar sigil on the front.
Light flashes beside him as his Ampharos appears. The Pokemon holds up its tail to draw away any potential lightning. "A very curious specimen," he says, observing the Celesteela for a moment. Lightning crashes nearby, casting sideways light across the strangely still Ultra Beast. "Leave now, I have work to do," he says as he strides out into the rain.

He was offline for most of that day, having been busy with certain offline things that involved meeting with friends from the Literature department and just. Having a quiet day together.
(Honestly, Matt. You idiot.)
Imagine his surprise when he logged back into the game and saw a small, pixelated Staryu ambling along the edge of his interface—and the Staryu was shiny, not the normal coloration, to boot.
“Oh,” he breathed out, realizing that he’d cleared one of the biggest hurdles so far! What also surprised him was that the guild he’d been eyeing for far too long was now open and he was—
Okay, he would have to get used to being around so much electricity despite having both the Water and Flying-type classes… yeah.
Sooner or later, once he’d managed to gain proper entrance to the Mythstar guild ‘base’, and was met by a cloud of steam that made his hair all frizzy the second he’d stepped inside the office… gathering hall… whatever one called this place.
It was literally a steampunk enthusiast’s dream!
Realizing that he may be taking up the guild leader’s time, he would immediately pull out three Pokéballs and set them on the table.
“Sorry. I know I’m not supposed to waste your time, but I’m here for a Swablu,” he explained. “So… I bring in exchange a Yamper, a Weedle, and a Fidough. I hope they can be of help to you.”
He would then stand back, if but to give the guild leader enough space to examine the wares he’d brought up for trade.

Cygnus takes the Pokemon and inspects them briefly."Weedle could be used to simulate assassinations, with its poisoned points. It can also be included in my experiments on comparative textile strength." He hands the bug to his Espurr assistant.
"Yamper has some interesting properties to its rubberized fur. It may be useful for my electrical experiments. And while Fidough is deeply unremarkable, its evolution has some deeply useful insulating properties." He gives both to Espurr and taps the Fidough ball for emphasis. "Evolve this one as soon as possible, and return it to me when it is ready. If my speculation is correct, we may be able to better insulate the engine room using pastry based coolant blocks."
Cygnus hands Altair a ball containing Swablu and gets right back to work.

"Hello~ Is anyone home?"
Aero slowly and cautiously entered the shop. This was her first time here and she was nervous to meet the leader of Mythstar up close. The last time she technically met him was during the Thunderfall raid, so meeting Cygnus in person made her feel nervous. Of course, she had a good reason she was here, so she couldn't chicken out now.
Of course, if the leader did appear, he would give the poor girl a brief fright. "O-Oh! Hello there..." She nervously took out a small tube containing a green hexagon-shaped DNA. "I was hoping to get a Jirachi DNA from your shop in exchange with my Zygarde one. I already have a Zygarde egg with me and I doubt I can take care of two of them. So I hope this is a good exchange."
She heard Jirachi was known to grant wishes. So if she could get one after Zygarde, it would be great for her future adventures ahead.
Aero trades her Zygarde DNA for a Jirachi DNA.

The train travels on through a seasonal storm. Lightning crashes overhead, and Cygnus emerges from a nearby door in a hiss of wild steam. He turns a large copper crank in the wall, and a cylinder holding luminous wool slides down into view. He measures it with a spectroscope and makes some notes on a pad.
At the sound of Aero's greeting he turns around, unsurprised to see her in his workshop. "I remember you from Thunderfall," he says, taking the DNA. "You empowered Zapdos." He studies Aero for a moment, as if sight alone could determine the source of her strange power.
Cygnus briefly inspects the DNA, determines it to be genuine, and then brings out a locked chest from below the counter. He opens the chest with a thumbprint, two keys, and a combination entered in strange symbols. Inside, nestled in white velvet is a star-shaped strand of DNA. "Take the strand, don't touch the box," he says.
After a moment's thought, he gives Aero something else: a small clockwork version of Copperajah. "This replica doesn't work, and based on my testing only a massive surge of power will energize it again. Something more powerful than lightning is required." He looks at you. "Empower it and return to me."
