Midas Rush: Golden Parkour You've got the treasure, but can you make it out of the temple alive? Avoid the traps, dead-ends, and the claws of the deadly guardian Infernape as you race against your friends to make it out before the ancient temple comes crashing down around you!
The VR temple is coming down around you, carrying this golden idol is starting to make your arms hurt, and those monkeys are getting awfully close to catching you! Left here, then right, then another right. Are you lost? No that's impossible, you just need to retrace your steps! Back through the mirror maze, past the lava moat, and then back up through the window in the pharaoh's bedchamber! Just that easy.
But not all escapes are so smooth.
Craft your own escape route through the tangled maze of traps, treasure, and terrifying creatures. Maybe you can find time to catch your breath along the way, or snatch an additional piece of loot, but make sure you don't get caught or it's back to the start!
Escape the temple with your treasure!

Wasn't it weird, Pace thought, to go to the IRL meet-up for a VR game and decide the first thing to do is jump right back into VR? He could have been out mingling with the masses and all that, but he was back in the digital dome of gaming as quick as a whip. What could he say? Shit was fun. This whole thing was going on for four days, anyway, so it wasn't like Pace wouldn't have time to do all that. And games were cool and fun and easy!
As for now, though, he'd made it halfway through. Or, obviously, like three-quarters through - everyone knew the journey back was always way quicker. Grasping a jewelled necklace-or-somesuch-thing in his hand, and beset upon quickly by a growing Infernape, Pace grins in knowledge that he's basically won already. He ducks out of the treasure room and back the way he came, right where the stepping stones across the lava river were-
Pace stops, staring at an empty pit, seemingly bottomless, stretches out in front of him. "...This wasn't here before..." and an issue suddenly came to arise that, actually, games were mean and unfun and bad. He nearly steps back, finds another way to go that might take him back to the river he'd forded once before, but the beating paws of the guardian Infernape are a little too close to comfort.
Noticing the vines hanging from the ceiling in a neat line with one another, Pace decides he might as well bite the bullet, and sprints forward. With the hand that isn't gripping tight to his treasure, he grabs at the vines and attempts to swing his way across. Hopefully, this room was a shortcut that'd get him out as quick as can be. uoUd7k9y1d10 1d10

Alright, so maybe Orion had gotten just a tad impatient before getting up and actually going to the con, sue him. The Journey had been long, about five hours if you drove the speed limit (coward) but it was still a long time to keep petal to metal anxious to get to something really cool, and one of the first things he had done when getting checked in to the hotel was setting up ol reliable so he could also partake in all of the digital goodies too. Call him a nerd all you want, this was the first time he'd left home in ages, let alone the first time he'd been by himself.
He was practically giddy.
So while he let the opening lines die down, he'd fiddle with the minigames and kill some time with...
Legally Distinct Temple Run.
The silly mobile game turned into a real ass experience was a surprise, what was more surprising was the fact that he was currently carrying a copy of that one Wu Tang album that Martin Shkreli had bought for his own personal listening. So like a bat out of hell Orion shot down the hallways, hop scotching across slipper rocks to cross a turbulent river and heading along to what looked like your stereotypical bottomless pit of death. Someone else was there ahead of him, who seemed faintly familiar. Had they met once? Maybe during one of the events? Either way, they made short work of the obstacle with the use of vines, and well...
Mankey See Mankey Do.
Sailing through the air, Orion would find himself on the other side of the pit and would keep running. He would have shouted out a thanks to ibis but the player was already long gone by the time he was "safe." Certain their paths would cross again, the fighter picked up the pace hoping maybe he would catch up.

The moment he saw an opening, Angelo had booked it. As grateful as he is to be able to attend a con for his favorite game, having to rely on his loaded roommate required sacrificing much of what’s left of his pride. Plus, argent was as insufferable to share a hotel room with as he is back at the dorms. A break was much needed.
Now if only he chose something that was actually relaxing.
Wild monkey screaming assail his ears, an Infernape tailing him and hellbent on tearing him to shreds. He has never been more afraid of monkeys until this. And to make matters worse, he hadn’t even nabbed a treasure he liked. He clutches the golden Mankey paw he snagged from the edge of the treasure room closer to his chest, leaping as far as his feet can take him.
The heat of the lava river scares him. He takes an alternate path, only to for the walls to receded and become pockmarked with small tubes. Arrows.
“Ow, ow, ow, ow!” The maze spits him back out. It had curled all the way back, merging with the other path. The illusion of choice.
He wastes precious time stumbling and picking out arrows from his virtual body. The other players were already ahead of him. He watches as ibis and orioncayge swing across the deep pit, his stomach doing a flip as he sees their feet touch the crumbling end of the opposite platform. A cold gust of air rises from the pit.
“I wish there was an easier way to escape…” Angelo shudders. He’s about to stuff the Mankey paw in his shirt and have a go when he hears a screech from above—
And suddenly, he’s airborne.
“AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!”
A large claw has embedded itself into Angelo’s clothes, lifting him up. The Archeops lets out a cry of its own, flying across the pit and away from the beaten path. Its species isn’t made to fly long distances. Angelo’s face pales as he spots a nest atop one of the crumbling pillars. A nest full of hungry little Archen.

Remmiel was a gamer, that much was certain. Not necessarily a Pokemon gamer, but that basically meant that he wasn't going to shy away from the mini games that the convention had, especially since a prize was involved (which they said would reflect in his in game account, so that was pretty exciting, he needed all of the help he could get). He wasn't sure why he picked this one specifically...maybe it was because it was a Temple Run knock off? He liked Temple Run. He remembered when, as a kid, he actually got a pretty neat score, and the radio station happened to be talking about it. He got lucky with the calls and was actually speaking on the radio, and the guy asked about his high score.
Needless to say, they weren't impressed. He carried the embarrassment up to this day.
But such thoughts were quickly forgotten when he figured out this was Temple Run but in VR, which meant that he wasn't just flicking around some stock character, he was the one who was actually running. He cursed under his breath as he felt his feet continuously hit uneven stone blocks, and behind him were some very, very angry monkeys. Were those Pokemon? This is a Pokemon-themed game right? Black letters with eyes on them gave way to his frenzied escape, and the whole time he made sure not to let the treasure he stole from his grasp: a very shiny, slippery, golden egg.
He could see other players getting picked off by traps. He was sure that he got hit by a few arrows on the way too, but thankfully the threshold for pain was reduced, and he found that it was better to keep on going rather than trying to yank them out. Remmiel passed by a virtual body just as it disappeared, probably heading back to the starting line. He soon managed to find his way out of the temple, but he still had to get across. Just as he was thinking of what to do, he saw some players grab the vines and swing across, and then another player (Saint) suddenly got picked off by a...prehistoric bird?! What the hell? He needed to move!
So instead of attempting to climb down the ravine, he took a sharp turn to the left, hoping that the ground would continue until maybe the game would generate another bridge, or maybe a tree with lower vines would appear. Please please please..! poIBVWip1-101-10 1-10·1-10

'All work, no play' doesn't describe Oz at all, and while he had 100% come to UNOVRcon because of his job, when finding himself with a couple of hours to kill before having to drop by the booth, of course he'd head to the arcade first and foremost. See, tattoo booths are no rarity at cons, and it just so happens that one of Oz' closest friends is in charge of one this time and had invited him to join when he had mentioned he has been playing UNOVR too. Apparently, his style lends itself well to Pokémon designs. He had had to pay for his flight, sure, but with his convention ticket covered and with being able to stay at his friend's place, it was a good investment all-in-all. He'd make his money back, earn some extra, hangout with friends he hadn't seen in a while, enjoy everything the convention has to offer, and hell, maybe even he'd run into one or two of his online friends in the process. That last part happens sooner than expected. Back into VR he hops once at the arcade, returning to the UNOVR avatar that he's still not quite used to. Still, Oz smiles, because see, this is exactly the sort of stuff he likes. Running? Obstacle courses? Sign him the fuck up. The man doesn't go to an American Ninja Warrior type gym every week for nothing. So, there he is; running, jumping climbing, swinging, and keeping momentum throughout all of it, until he ends up with a basketball tucked under his arm. A basketball signed by Kyle Lowry, no less! This game knows what's up! Good thing other players apparently have the treasure guard Infernape distracted, unintentionally allowing him to just sneak past. Among these players is the familiar face of ibis who is in the middle of swinging over a pit, and chuckling at the sight, Oz makes a mental note to catch up with him soon enough. Sure, he could also swing over the pit, but seeing someone getting snatched up by a bird ( Saint), he decides that avoiding the pit is a better idea. Just like @kallisto, he takes a sharp turn, continuing to run parallel to the ravine. It all seems to be going well for a wonderful couple of seconds, and after those couple of seconds pass, Oz hears it: something is chasing after them. Not the Infernape but something bigger. Something that is... rolling? Oh, shit. What is this, an Indiana Jones movie?! "Hey, man!" He calls to the other player, decisively moving closer to the wall and away from the ledge that now seems much more dangerous than ever. It's like their choses are to fall to their deaths or to get crushed to death. Neither is good. Death is a no-no even when having three lives. "Any ideas?!"Can they outrun this thing? He doubts it. uanmNkQc1d101d10 1d10·1d10

While they hadn't been able to attend UNOVRcon in person due to IRL responsiblities and the fact that the United States were quite far away, Tyson was quite glad the app for the AR experience of the event existed. Of course, nobody would really be able to see them unless they used the app as well, but this was the closest they'd be able to get for now.
After he wandered into the virtual arcade and decided to join the Midas Rush: Golden Parkour game (because it sounded like a fun time), Tyson found himself in an ancient temple, gripping a golden idol in his hands that looked not unlike a ditto. Luckily it didn't feel like a ditto. Either way, he now had to get the golden ditto out of here, and himself as well (preferably with all three of his digital lives intact.) The demiboy made a run for it, towards the shouting of what presumably were other players who had joined the game and had gotten a little further already. After nimbly jumping over some holes and dodging out of the way of a few traps, his foot got caught by something, and Tyson only barely avoided faceplainting onto the stone tiles of the floor by grabbing onto a branch or root that stuck out of the wall next to him. The golden idol, however, flew across this hallway and landed at the edge of what seemed to be another one of those pits he had jumped over earlier.
As he regained poper footing and began to hastily walk towards the idol, something moved to the side of him and before he knew what was going on the VR vision went black.
YOU DIED.
Try again? (2 lives left) [YES] [NO]
Tyson selected the "yes" option, cursing internally before they were teleported back to the front of the hallway they had supposedly died in. As they could see now, the halway had several spears repeatedly being stabbed out of the left wall every few seconds. The ditto idol was still sitting there, looking shiny at the end of the hallway. It now also clicked in his mind what that thing was that he hit is foot on. Tyson observed the spear-wall for a bit, trying to find a pattern in the movement, though something in the back of his mind told him he shouldn't wait too long. "Eh, fuck it." They muttered to themself before rushing in, and miraculously surviving the hallway this time around.
Now that he'they've managed to get past this stupid trap and managed to rope-swing over this pit with the ditto in his posession again, Tyson could see some of the other players. One of them was being picked up by a large bird-like pokémon, it seemed... As Tyson looked around this part of the temple, which seemed a bit more open than the narrow hallways he'd been in before, he realized that there was no real way forward for him. He was standing at the edge of what appeared to be a cliff of sorts. A fairly smooth cliff, even, so climbing down wasn't going to be easy, if possible at all.
"What do you expect me to do here?" They called out, mainly talking to the game devs who made this temple as if they could actually hear them, "Jump?! Hell no!" Anyone who had met Taro in-game, might notice a distinct difference in manner of speech between the in-game character and the player. "Really? No other way out? Fine..." Tyson took a literal leap of faith before asking himself the most important question in any exploration-based video game.

THERON LOVES PARKOUR.
So, yes, obviously if there is a parkour event he is going to go to it. This one was a little different because it was VR parkour, but he also loved Assassin's Creed II so it counted.
He spawned in, Viridian Jones statuette at hand, and started running. And it was fun. Outrunning boulders! Sneaking past guards! Not getting eaten by a bird! He even got to rappel over a fire pit like that one Warehouse 13 episode!
And then he saw another player, paused at the edge of a cliff. Theron almost said hi, but Taro had jumped down before he could. He peered after the kid, and saw nothing.
Nothing, but a well placed haypile off to the side. Having the time of his life, Theron moved level with it, closed his eyes, embraced Ezio into his heart, and fell.

#s://cdn~discordapp~com/attachments/1028264618818289684/1146083617810944071/5~png "Watch out!" yelled Kenny, stopping in the middle of the temple road to wave his arms frantically at the middle-aged man ( M'Foxy) about to run off a cliff. "You're gonna fall!" Then again, maybe that was a good thing. The Infernape chasing everyone wouldn't be able to follow you that way, right? It was like jumping into a river to escape a swarm of bees! Seeing Theron's head poke safely out of a hay pile, Kenny let out his breath. "Phew!"The screams of angry apes behind him reminded him that Theron wasn't the only one being chased by fiery baboons. "Uh-oh! Gotta run!" He took off again, sneakers slapping on the mossy bricks. It was weird, being himself while in VR. On one hand, Kenny himself would never be in this situation. Despite being in his own body, stealing a golden idol and fleeing through a jungle temple was so far away from reality that It felt more like a dream than the kind of gameplay he usually experienced in UNOVR. Strangely, playing as Yggy made game situations like this more realistic. At the same time, the level of detachment from his digital avatar made him feel naked. He had no trainer subclass benefits, no Everworld waiting for him if he whited out - just the real world again, and a disappointing 'YOU LOSE - TRY AGAIN' screen. He heard a clunk sound as a stone panel in the ground sunk down a half-inch as he stepped on it. Oops. That can't be good. The sixteen-year-old let out a yell and threw up his arms to protect his face as poisoned darts suddenly flew through the air from both sides of the path. "Crap!" The pain was barely a tingle. It felt different than when Yggy played UNOVR and stuff killed her. The real problem was that it had slowed him down. He felt a monkey claw rake her ankle and pulled it out of its grip barely in time, fleeing down a rickety rope bridge towards a gap in the track. The part of the temple beneath her was on fire - if he fell, it would mean a game over for sure. I can make that jump, right? Time to try! 276kQ54d1d101d10 1d10·1d10

This place seemed to loop around in on itself in a way that Pace wasn't sure made much sense. At least, not to him?! Other people seemed to be running this way and that just fine, though. He barely has a chance to land on his feet after the vine-swing before the Infernape that was chasing him before bellows and leaps the chasm in one fell swoop, zooming past other competitors as it did so. What, was this thing only focused on him? Ugh.
He runs forward again, and finds himself at a crossroads. Left, or right? Pace peers down the left path and sees a kid with bright orange hair (Yggy Br00ks ) getting darts to the... well, just about everywhere, with monkeys scrabbling after his heels, just the same as Pace's own. Oh, right, the monkey. Well, Pace certainly wasn't following the redhead down into the dart corridor, so it was right he went instead. As he runs, his own foot sinks a little into a stone square on the floor, and he winces at the inevitable punishment as something slowly pops out of the wall... was that a gun?!
It makes a sweet little pop, and out comes the "bang" sign. Ah. Right. Well. That was embarrassing, then - had he squealed at all? He hoped not. Alongside it, up pops a pop-up (as they do), alerting him of a newly acquired treasure: PLAYER STAMP ACQUIRED!
Huh... well, no time to ponder that. He had to get a move on! The room after the crappy fake gun room was... cold? And long. So long, in fact, Pace wasn't sure if he could make it to the end without freezing. The more he lingered the colder it felt. Hurry, hurry. Uwy2BlnI1d101d10 1d10·1d10

Outrunning this huge stone ball is turning out to be much more of a workout than what Oz had expected, and although until this moment it had all been fun and games, now the prospect of getting crushed has him fucking stressed. Even in VR that sounds painful as hell. Worse of all, there's a fallen pillar up ahead, blocking their path and too large to jump over... Yet, there's just enough of a gap for them to slide under. Is that how they'll escape this cardio from hell? Might as well give it a try, right? Not like there's much to lose here... "Yo!" Oz calls for @kallisto's attention again. "Under the pilla—AH!"He doesn't get to finish the sentence. He trips thanks to the most annoying little rock, and just like that, with only a second or two to process what had just happened, there's a rush of terror and then utter darkness. YOU DIEDTRY AGAIN?"...Lame." Oz clicks his tongue, staring at the blinking words in the darkness. Hey, at least it hadn't hurt, right? Plus, he has two more lives and there's a notification telling him he had just earned himself a PLAYER STAMP. So, he decides to give it another try, telling himself that he'll go for a treasure that's easier to carry this time. Hell, maybe he'll even follow the path ibis had taken, since as far as he's aware, Ibis hadn't died... yet. Later on they'll probably laugh about their dumb VR Temple Run misadventures when they meet up. For now, though? For now, he runs, having to almost immediately leap over a pit full of spikes. aubqw4QM1-101-10 1-10·1-10

The run wasn't silent, it was full of screeching and screaming, but because of that, if any other particularly suspicious and loud noise broke into the cacophony, it would immediately draw Remmiel's attention. In this case, it was deep rumbling, of the ground shaking and groaning, and he made the mistake of turning around. It also turned out that there was someone else running beside him (he didn't recognize this person, but it wasn't like he was going to know every player in the game, being a relative newbie).
Any ideas?! (ozone)
They were actually on a downward slope, so that huge rock that starred in so many Indiana Jones movies was picking up speed. Even in VR he was already feeling fucking exhausted. ❝Keep running!❞ which was absolutely silly but that was all they could do. Suddenly, a fallen pillar came into view, and it reminded him much like in the original Temple Run where one could slide underneath. Would he even be able to control his speed when doing that? What if he slid too far and got crushed under the boulder anyway? The stranger also picked up on this quick, about to say something about it, when he suddenly dropped from his line of sight, and the distraction also made him trip, and he could only manage to process a moment of terror before he was plummeted into darkness.
It almost felt like a trapdoor opened underneath him, preventing him from feeling how it'd be like to get squashed under a round boulder. Phew. That was...traumatizing.
You have two more lives left! Try again? [YES] / [NO]
Obviously, it was a yes, and for participating he also awarded the PLAYER STAMP. Right, he forgot to pick that up from the counter earlier, but at least he was able to earn it in game as well. That was thoughtful of them. Four more stamps in other places of the convention, but for now, he desperately wanted to win (he had two more lives left!) so it was back into the game he went. Without his shiny golden egg, of course, he needed to find that again or something.
He wondered if he was going to see that other player again, maybe they could work together? For now though, he made a split second decision to barrel into another hallway, after noticing that there were some large holes on one of the walls (he wasn't going to get skewered by arrows again).
This time, he made it to the throne room relatively unscathed (that part seemed to be easier than the escaping, for some reason), and he decided to look for the lightest thing there. Aha! A necklace, that should work! He grabbed that, which immediately made the room rumble angrily. Ah, he could hear some monkeys already from behind the walls--
But they were much larger than the monkeys last time. They were big, monochrome, and looked like they got burned with how frizzy their hair was. Their screech was something else, and it almost made Remmiel drop the necklace he was holding. ❝Oh come on!❞ he cursed as he made a run for it from a newly made corridor - he swore he could hear the sound of stone walls collapsing as the much angrier monkeys stormed the halls. aW|awUxx1d101d10 1d10·1d10

“ Hey, you really should run the other way! ” Vincent had the golden treasure clasped in his hand and a few yards in front of him, the stranger ( @kallisto ) spun his way with haste while a path seemed to open up directly in front of him without a monkey in sight. He hadn’t expected the very first UNOVR-con to be so close to where he was living and after they made it illegal to stream the game, Silas had to find a new way to attempt to keep his life stable. He didn’t even think he would touch this forsaken game again but when opportunity knocked, you absolutely made sure you slammed the door open with brute force.
Once he found that there were games too, he donned on the massive behemoth avatar he chose months ago and would try to re-open streaming for him or at least being able to screen record to upload afterwards. With a motivated gaze, Vincent ducked under a large boulder where it seemed like monkeys would appear and continued forward, already missing the intense immersive gameplay that UNOVR had in store. He thought back to Maverick, Wednesday, and Serena who had been idle this whole time and he made a mental promise that he’d log in after a bit to see if he still knew anyone around.
“ S^&*. ” A large monkey appeared in his way and all Vincent could think of doing was leaping over him and hoping for the best, perhaps his body plus his sheer force would be too much to be taken down by the monkey. With a quick leap, Vincent jumped with all of his might trying to fully clear the top of the monkey’s head with the treasure still in hand. fRvC3L1|1d101d10 1d10·1d10

Was this it? How he’d lose his first life? Being eaten by a nest of hungry little muppets?
Angelo made a noise of frustration. This game was even simpler than UNOVR’s open world mechanics — how could he die so easily? The Archeops’ grip on him is tight; he can’t hope to rip its claw off him. But he doesn’t have to.
The longer it flies, the lower the Archeops dips, exertion clear despite how persistently it tries to reach its nest. When he feels the claw’s grip flag, that’s when Angelo begins to struggle, thrashing wildly in the air. Below him are the rest of the players, if he could just—
RIIIIIP!
He falls, screaming.
“Don’t splat, don’t splat, DON’T SPLAT!” The ground is rapidly heading towards him.
He feels something stir in his shirt: the golden Mankey’s paw curling another finger.
A boulder bursts into view.
“SHIT!” Angelo’s feet barely hit the top of the rock. He immediately begins running backward, moving with the runaway boulder’s momentum as its dragged by the slope.
“I’M SORRY! JUMP! GET OUT OF THE WAY!” he cries, flapping his arms like a duck as he watches ozone and @kallisto run like mad in front of the boulder. If it didn’t mean losing his balance and becoming pancakes, Angelo would cover his eyes; he didn’t want to see players get flattened!
But the two runners disappear. A large trap door under their feet had opened, swallowing them up, and Angelo is knocked off the boulder as it slams into the fallen pillar.
“Ughh…” He groans, lying on the ground. Another player, a huge one by the name of Vincent darts past him, slipping under the boulder. And then Angelo hears it: the monkeys.
“Goddamn it…” He scrambles to pick himself up — grabbing the accursed Mankey’s paw as he stands — and tries to chase after the other player.
Which turns out to be a mistake, of course.
A huge monkey — the biggest one they’ve encountered so far — blocks the path. Vincent attempts a jump, and Angelo at this point decides he’s not risking his nerdy ligaments.
“Look! Shiny!” He cries, taking out the golden paw from his shirt and tossing it to distract the oversized guardian. He scurries across as it turns away from him, tugging on a thread he had wrapped around the treasure to pull it back as he runs. dQawbHpi1d101d10 1d10·1d10

#s://i~imgur~com/KtqN1PJ~jpg Only once he had already begun running does Oz realise that something is different from last time, and perhaps it takes him a moment because it all comes naturally to him. Too naturally. And, of course it does, because when he looks down to dodge another trap, he realises he's no longer wearing the intricate outfit he had designed for his avatar. Instead, he's wearing the clothes he had wore to the convention. Had he somehow messed with the settings when starting second attempt at Midas Rush? The fuck? Ah, well, not like he has the time to think about all that right here and now. He's too preoccupied with getting out of the temple after ransacking the treasure room! Now, obviously that doesn't stop him from looking in the direction where his last escape attempt had ended. He sees how the giant ball slams against the pillar just as he had expected, and he also sees that a kid had been running on said perfectly round boulder... the same kid that had been kidnapped by birds just moments earlier. Saint. Damn, how had Oz not noticed him until now? No wonder he had done so poorly at his first attempt at this, he's too distracted. Speaking of being distracted, he almost gets impaled by sharp spears that suddenly shoot out of the walls, leading him into improvised limbo. "Jesus."With only half a second to recover before hearing the sound of approaching-nondescript-monkey-Pokémon, he goes back to running, this time swiftly jumping over a half wall and right into a new corridor.
