Any body of water, huh?

Finn holds the fishing rod like someone who's never been fishing before in his life, because he hasn't. Or, at least, not since he was a little kid and his uncle tried to take him fishing until realising that his nephew would rather cling to the rail like a terrified cat.

He squints at the description.

Lava wasn't water, but what would happen if...

He casts the line, albeit a little wonky with his aim, and waits.

Again?!

No matter where Finn goes, Allotta Bambooga seems to be somewhere nearby. Lurking, like a glitch in the code. It's honestly kind of terrifying, and also annoying considering she calls him asshole every time she sees him and her GUN is apparently a Mudkip-killing machine.

Finn has a Mudkip of his own, now, the mudfish looking dried-out and miserable as it desperately seeks some shade beneath an overhanging rock.

He opens his mouth to make some sharp retort to whatever insult Allotta delivered, then closes it when it registers that she'd given him advice. He can be an asshole, that's true, but he's not going to go out of his way to justify her nickname by being a dick when she hadn't deserved it. Even if it did make him unreasonably bitter that she seemed to know something he didn't.

He tries his best to mimic the form and movements she'd displayed. It's not perfect, but he does manage to cast further out into the bubbling lava pools.

"Oh, shit!" He forgets to be sullen as the rod jerks in his grip. "I actually caught something!"

Excited, expecting a Fire-type, he reels in... a fish?

"What kind of fish can swim in lava? Mudkip, wake up!"

The poor Pokemon stirs from beneath its rock and reluctantly totters up to deal with this... 'Common Magikarp'.

As Finn taps the wriggling fish with a Pokeball, he turns to see Allotta Bambooga pull one of her own from the lava. He's excited for a moment, thinking maybe they've discovered some sort of rare spawn (in spite of the name 'Common' in front of the Magikarp, of course) but inspection of his new catch reveals that it's... Water-type. That's it.

"This thing barely knows any moves," he complains. "What does 'Splash' even do?"

It doesn't have any damage numbers, which is what worries him, of course.

Noticing that the kindler practically has her toes in the lava, and forgetting for a moment that kindlers can do that, he wonders aloud, "Doesn't that hurt? Or do you have your pain threshold turned way down, or something?"

Masochist that he was, Finn had set his to realistic, and keeps his digits a safe distance from the burbling lava pool.

A brief pause before an admission, "I don't play many games."

It hadn't been for lack of wanting, as a kid. But it just hadn't been in the cards with his upbringing. Most kids might get grounded if they were caught disobeying the rules, but Cillian... he pushes the thought away, and focuses on thoughts about Splash.

"That sounds kinda cool, though. Maybe I'll make it another one of my sweepers."

He's becoming a bit of a sweeper specialist, because his philosophy in life is that if he hits something hard enough, it won't be able to hit back. Hadn't worked against the Glaceon boss, but he thinks that just means he's not hitting hard enough.

His expression scrunches at her accusation.

"No. Mine's turned all the way up, too, I'm not a bitch. Try me."

His pain setting is on realistic. Until now, Finn hasn't found that to be a problem. This was a video game, and it was mostly Pokémon battling other Pokémon. The worst hit he'd taken was being whacked by a hammer in the stupid Patrat tower.

Allotta is short, more boobs than muscle, so he's not expecting much. Still, he braces himself out of habit, planting his feet.

"Go for it," he insists, when she asks if he's sure.

And then she decks him in the face, and he staggers back from the force of it as pain explodes from the point of impact. His health bar takes a dramatic dip as Cillian Quinn reels from the shock of it, Finn lifting a hand to his jaw.

"You hit like a bloody train."

But he doesn't sound angry, or even betrayed. He sounds delighted.

"Fuckin' hell, are you a wrestler or somethin'? That was savage."

He rubs his jaw, shaking his head.

The message dings that the Magikarp are added to their inventories. Allotta surveys the damage. She gives a pleased hum that Finnegan Fjord didn't explode into bits of pixel dust to respawn elsewhere.

"You take a punch like a champ!" A cheeky grin is on her face as she flexes her hand; even if it was digital, it had still hurt a bit. At least it would fade a lot quicker than in real life. "I dropped a guy once hitting him like that. Out cold." She doesn't mean to brag. Usually, even if people ask you to hit them, they get all pissed about it when you actually do.

That Finn is so receptive, even if she did think he was a dick before, raises him just a few points in her eyes. Makes sense that her rival would take it!

"I'm a firefighter!" Allotta doesn't mind sharing this. Kekoa was certain that basic, benign statement wouldn't be enough to track down who he really was. "We do a lot of weight training. Could probably dead-lift you, too."
