This was hilarious, having jumped the gun ahead—even though he already knew how the controls went; it was back to the Tutorial Area for him.
Why was he there, though?
Despite him not admitting outright he was a completionist (of sorts), there was something that was bothering him, and he wanted one particular Trainer title so he’d made the entire hike back all the way to humor whoever would come across him.
Yeah, this would have him literally dumbing shit down by like, so much—although, with a pang of regret he remembered how this particular quest went in the EU server—the package was medical supplies to treat against frostbite, and having to brave icy-cold and slippery paths, well…
Thank fuck the sun was shining out here, right?!

The area around Shalin house seemed rock solid. It was for the best; how many new players, if they encountered something strange in their first few minutes of playing, would cancel their subscriptions and never play the game again? She expected the tutorial zone to be a cleanly-coded affair, but she had to get started somewhere.
Plus, those constant reminders of incomplete tutorials were going to get on the girl's nerves if she didn't clear them away.
The brightness of broad daylight would make it easy for Alkaid to see an unfamiliar face approaching: a female bucket of energy whose Bulbasaur, quite large for her species, bounced about next to her. It seemed she already had the parcel they had been asked to deliver! Alkaid {Party}Saria the Bulbasaur (Levels: 2/2/2) Flit the Yanma (Levels: -/-/-)

The first thing that would catch his attention was the fact that there was a much-larger than normal Bulbasaur headed his way—accompanied by what he surmised was their trainer—or companion; he didn’t want to be tied down to the strictness of how the game considered the relationship between human and Pokémon.
“That’s a very large Bulbasaur you’ve got there,” he would remark; not wanting to inflict his snarky Grookey on her! Yeah, he would have to hide his Pokémon until the time was opportune.
“Got a delivery quest like I do, too?” he would follow up once the notification started flashing on his user interface; there was a ‘mysterious package’ that had suddenly appeared in his inventory; specifically under the ‘Key Items’ section.

The redhead was straightforward, not beating around the bush in the slightest. Shalin liked those kinds of players: ones that got straight to the point. "Thanks! Supposedly it's because of my class," Shalin replied, Saria gently extending one of her vines to shake Alkaid's hand with.
"Alkaid? Did I pronounced your name correctly?" she asked, unsure how accurate her pronunciation was. "Indeed, I do have a delivery quest! But I want to try something. Instead of completing the delivery, I want to see if it's possible to get the package out of bounds." The smile of mischief and chaos on her face was painfully obvious, as though she was already a Beta Tester.

“Wait, get the—you… you can’t be serious.”
The last part of her statement would catch him by surprise, because… how could one do that?
He didn’t miss the larger-than-normal Bulbasaur’s way of greeting him with the vine—he would ever so gently take the vine and shake it pretty much like a normal hand would.
“You… you know if you do that, get the package out of bounds, the quest might glitch out and you may not be able to complete it, right?” he blinked a few moments later.
He’d nodded with the way she tried getting his IGN right—
“Well, Benetnasch was apparently taken when I finished my character, so… I had to go with my second option.”
He wondered if she was into astronomy as he was; that was the reason why Capolavoro had come together in the first place—all of them had their in-game names set to the names of stars found in constellations they would see in the night sky back home…

Saria smiled, reflecting Shalin's giddiness as she gently let go of Alkaid's hand. "Wouldn't it be as simple as just aborting and restarting the Quest?" the glitch hunter asked. "No harm, no foul, right?"
However it worked, they would find out soon. It was smooth sailing for a while, Shalin walking into fences occasionally. Whether it was her getting used to the controls or testing for poorly programmed walls was best left as an exercise to Alkaid .
After getting a third of the way to their destination, Shalin pointed toward a sidewalk that turned at a 30 degree angle, then went up some shallow but long steps. "Perfect, this is exactly what I was looking for," she gestured toward the staircase. "See how it's not cardinally aligned?"

“Well, you never know. What if the quest itself glitches out and you get stuck inside the instance, wouldn’t that be a sight to see.”
He knew of someone who had a similar premise as the greenette that he accompanied right now; and chuckled quietly as he watched her deliberately attempting to clip into the walls—or whatever place was closest—while they progressed towards their delivery destination.
It wouldn’t take too long for them to actually find a ‘glitch’ and he had to squint before realizing…
“Huh. What the fuck happened to that? [tangent=It’s like the thing is bent out of shape.]È come se la cosa fosse piegata fuori forma[/tangent].”

Softlocks were indeed a danger of going outside the intended bounds of the game's realms. Even so, it was a danger she was willing to set foot toward. Worst case, she could always log out and restart from the last Shrine she visited instead of the middle of the current Quest.
"No, there's nothing inherently unusual about a staircase being in a direction that isn't cardinally aligned," Shalin explained as she put one foot on the seam between two stairs. "Not to the naked eye, anyway. It's more what variable type the code stores your position data in. A lot of really weird things happen in video games--"
As she lifted her other foot, Shalin fell through the stairs, picking up speed until she landed on the top of a cave ceiling, viewing its tunnels from the outside. Were Alkaid to check their mini-map, they would see that the package was located several thousand units beneath them. Strangely enough, she did not take any fall damage from the impact. Unbeknownst to Alkaid, a Porygon made itself materialized in front of the explorer as she landed out of bounds. And a talking one at that.
It was C0D13 .
"You're a naughty but clever girl for making it here."

“Be careful when you do that,” he would warn his companion as she decided to go through the damned thing anyway before—
Several things happened all at once.
His companion then ‘clipped’ through the seam that she’d stepped on; and while he’d made a flying leap to grab her to get her out of the situation she’d disappeared so fast he ended up flying over the glitch and landing on the other side of the ‘seam’.
“Girl? Hey, girl! Where’d you go?!” he would bark; checking the ‘party’ status and seeing that they were still together, but the package…
…had somehow ended up far underground?
[tangent=“This is why I warned you to be careful!”]“Per questo ti avevo avvisato di stare attento!”[/tangent] he would grumble as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
Great…

The scolding Porygon took Shalin by surprise. "Wait, you can talk?!" she gasped.
"Long as your PokéSpeech settings are on, I can. Could be worth your time to go into the general options menu and take a look at your settings. There are quite a few of them that are important for gameplay."
Fascinating... so Pokémon could talk in this setting. That completely changed her approach to the game. If they could speak, then did that mean they also had personalities? Routing the game would be a lot more complex than she thought, depending on the algorithms the game used for personalities.
"I'll take a look around. For now, how do we get back to town?"
"I'll use my debugging powers to send you back to the surface... this time. Next time, you'll have to log out for long enough to be sent back to the last Shrine you visited." With a flash of pink light, the girl materialized next to Alkaid , not far from where she had fallen between pieces of the town's geometry.

He’d already warned her about this, but did she listen?! No.
Pinching the bridge of his nose, he let loose a soft string of swears, pacing the street corner near where he saw her last. Why didn’t she listen to his warning?!
“Geez, you remind me of the other kid,” he said to nobody in particular, and was about ready to message her asking if she’d gotten stuck somewhere when she suddenly reappeared not too far from where she’d glitched into.
“Well? Did you get what you were looking for?” he would drawl, just a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
“I warned you to be careful attempting that shit! We nearly failed the quest had you not returned!” he added a few moments afterward.

Alkaid looked furious, the redhead spouting all kinds of reiterated warnings at Shalin. She cupped her hand over her mouth and laughed, not at Alkaid, but at the situation. "It's good to know that there are failsafes if someone does manage to get out of bounds," she answered, her voice muffled before she uncovered her mouth. "If I can figure out where in UNOVR I landed on top of when I clipped through the floor, it could be a potentially big time saver." At its floor, it could be a time saver for gaining levels, if not doing the story out of order.
Once he had calmed down, Shalin would lead the way toward their destination, which appeared to be close. There was, however, a small fence in their way. Shalin looked around for a way past it; there seemed to be an alleyway not far from where they were at. "I wonder if the RUNNING SHOES would give me enough speed to just jump it..." she mused.

“Sure, the failsafes may be there now, but what about the next time? What if you really get stuck and there’s no way out?” he would sigh.
Oy. He remembered having this exact argument with Alioth as well back then; it was truly nuts if he was going to be honest.
The moment she mentioned the running shoes, though, he fell silent for a few minutes. That… that was the one tutorial he hadn’t actually completed yet, so he wasn’t going to be able to provide a straight answer to that.
“Well, either we go around it or we jump over it,” was what he would say next.
“After you.”

Shalin reminded Alkaid of one important failsafe that would always be there. "There's one you're forgetting about. Remember, you can always log out and log back in, and you will be warped to the last shrine you visited. That's the plan if I ever get stuck like that." There was a sly smile across the green-haired lass's face. "Remember, I'm a contributor to a few TASes. You have to be able to think outside the box to do that."
Assuming Alkaid has completed the first tutorial, given there was a suggested order to do them in, Shalin would activate her RUNNING SHOES. As the redhead kindly gestured for her to go first, she dashed toward the fence and flexed her legs, gracefully leaping over it. "Whew!" she cried, triumphantly raising her fists. "Now, it's your turn!"

He was going to have to fake it until he made it, huh?
(As if he had any other choice!)
“Alright, I’m coming!” he would call after her once she’d cleared the obstacle. This was going to be a little trickier on his end, all things considered, but he was definitely going to fake this, somehow, until he’d finished the actual tutorial.
(Hopefully he’d be able to find someone who would want to join him there!)
In no time flat the greenette would see the top part of his hair slowly but surely climbing the fence—before he hoisted himself up and over the rest of it.
“What? I wanted to check if I knew parkour, and surprise surprise, apparently we all have it? Somehow?” he continued once he’d landed on the other side after wiping his hands down.
