Flowers crave sunlight. They grow towards the sun with gorgeous hunger. The idea of hurtling down a wet corridor just to throw herself down a pitch-black pit was horrid! Sunless! Dark and unsatisfying.
Torino climbed, rock and fist over grip and hand-holding vine. She pulled at the wall and the greenery pulled back. As she hauled herself upwards into brighter lights her muscles sang with chlorophyll and warmth.
Girasoli jumped up the wall beside her, bouncing off a steel jut, a broken pipe, and Torino.
"Hey! I am no rock! Do you know a rock with pink hair and good skin?"
The bud rooted itself in the wall for a quick rest, shedding dandelion fluff as it shook with little laughter.
Nuvola didn't need to bounce or climb. She simply rolled sideways up the wall, sticking thickly to the surface as if she were a runaway paint roller.

While Yggdril and Alicia bounced back from the fall, the Gardener was still in a panic and rushing to get herself and Yggdril out of the way. Panic struck that a simple moment of blindness was going to cost her another friend and ally. ⌠Except nothing ambushed them. No dead end, nothing terrible happening. They lucked out it seemed. And did she see someone ( Respiro ) reach for her out of the corner of her eyeâŚ? She didnât dare waste time looking back to confirm it for herself. But if she was right then she appreciated the attempt to save her from the nasty fall. âDoor!â âWhere!?â âBeside us-âCRASH!âNever mind, we going this way then.â âWeâre getting too big to push easily!â âThis stuffâs gonna take forever to peel off!â âHey! This paperâs got a lot of writing on it!â âWhatâs it say?ââCan you guys at least use a Dragon Pulse to clear some of the path?â Alicia asked. Trying to be mindful of the splinters of wood that were now sinking into the Hydrappleâs syrup. As well as the numerous other things they were smashing out of the way⌠If this building wasnât already condemnable, she feared it would have been after she was through with it⌠âYou rolling us too fast!â âDizzying! Just as Shalin reached the halfway point of the upper stairwell, one of the cables she grabbed onto was actually a Xurkitree. One of its cable-arms wrapped around her waist, and another wrapped itself around Nymris' body. The Invasive Species swung its black wires about, wielding them like whips. Trapped on the edge of one, all Shalin could do was holler, doing her best to enjoy the impromptu carnival ride.
Every flick of the wire made Shalin yelp, an adrenaline rush similar to what she experienced with Nymris giving her a second wind. The Ultra Beast's finale would be no mere carnival ride; when she felt the wire moving backwards, she knew exactly what was coming. With a mighty swing, an enormous loop had built up in the wire. The green-ette closed her eyes and braced herself for the worst.
Electricity danced down both wires, Shalin and her PokĂŠmon each at the end of one. With a sickening, metallic CRACK, the Xurkitree snapped both of its arms with POWER WHIPS that split the air itself. The force of the attack quickly reached Shalin's registered pain limits, the Ultra Beast's passenger unable to hear her own scream. Both were moving so fast that the sound of the interior lightning strike failed to reach her ears, as well. Even the power of glitches had its limits: the speed and power of the Xurkitree's whip crack was so intense that it dislodged Shalin, the wannabe cowboy catching the faintest glimpse of an unconscious Nymris still wrapped around the wire-arm.
The glitch hunter found herself conscious at the end of a pitch-black hallway, the space around her upper legs covered in stinging electrical burns. Struggling to get to her feet, the first thing she noticed was that Nymris was missing. Her eyes shifted toward her HUD, seeing a question mark next to the Pheromosa's name. Hovering over the tooltip for it, she saw her unusual steed's fate and sobbed.
Help> X-ZONE: The PokĂŠmon has vanished without a trace. This effect lasts indefinitely.
It took the squabbling of Alicia Westfield 's Hydrapple to snap Shalin out of her distress. The grass-type had kindly crafted a straight path through the ruined office building. Sending out her Ponyta, Reynir, she tried to climb onto the psychic-type's back, but was stopped by an error message:
Error> This PokĂŠmon has not yet completed Ride Training.
Dismayed, she dashed alongside the cantering PokĂŠmon for as long as she could before inevitably losing pace...

Josh watched in horror as he saw his friend Shalin Nariya be violently whipped about. It seemed like her pain thresholds were set low; were they set to high or even fully Realistic, she may have been forcibly logged out from the spikes of feedback into her brain. It was a phenomenon parts of the dark web referred to as net damage.
She wasn't the only one affected by the lightning; while it didn't strike Josh directly, he was blinded by it. All he could hear over the deafening crash was the sound of Granmarg's PokĂŠ Ball being forcibly opened. All he could see as his vision turned to white was a silhouette of the helpless Mudsdale being carried away in the electric-type's wiry arms.
When he came to, he was at the end of the dark hallway below, his Mudsdale also showing as being sent to the X-Zone.
His RUNNING SHOES were going to get a real workout as he chased after Alicia Westfield , doing his best to follow the trail her Hydrapple had blazed. Once he had caught up, he came to the realization that both of his PokĂŠmon had been banished to the X-Zone, according to his HUD. "Do you have any idea how I'm still running around without a PokĂŠmon?" he asked, though he doubted he would get a response.

Light and sound roar through Torino, shaking her heart and numbing her hands as the indoor wall is illuminated by brutal lightning. Her limbs seized, and she fell backwards into the dark. At she tumbled, slide-shots and flashes of lightward tragedy blinked through her mind like a movie reel.
In sped-up slow motion she saw the Xurkitree's copper limbs coil around her Swirlix. Her cotton candy baby cried out in shock as it was pulled back into the concrete wall.
Then she hit the ground, and saw blackness.
She woke surrounded by the others. They were in a shattered office, with two new ways to go.
"It took Nuvola!" Torino said, her tone a melange of stress, shock, and fury. "I cannot go on!" She looked up at the wall far above. She could still see the jolt-scarred walling, and the hole where Xurkitree had lurked.
Bodies blotted the light above, and the roar of Buzzwole descended with intent.
"Oh no! Girasoli, with me," she said, snatching up the little bud. "We will circle around and save Nuvola." With a set jaw and bare feet, she took off THROUGH the office space.
Papers and dust bunnies stuck to her feet, and the air smelled like grandma's filing cabinet. "Where?" she coughed, looking for the door ahead. Lights blinked in the gloom like an abandoned constellation. Torino rushed forward on tenterheels, stumbling into low desks. She crashed into a chair and sent it spinning. Her UI blared at her that she had found an important item but there wasn't time.
The roar of wings hit the office space outside, and Torino's face was filled with some office warning memo. She tried to dismiss it, as the seconds left to escape were running as thin as cobweb.

A leap down into darkness eventually illuminated an old break room. A shame she didn't really have the time to to investigate it in detail currently. Flames tickled her skin, and she had to keep dashing forwards to avoid the swarm of Ultra Beasts on her tale.
"Where are we going, Mama?" Glacia suddenly asked, swinging back and forth in Mr. Business's arms. "Do you know the way out?"
"I climbed in a window! Not the ground floor! We're gonna have to find, or make our own exit!" She called back, kicking down a table in her way as they leaped out into the hall.
Darkness consumed them and traversing in the dark was difficult with so many people all rushing as fast as they could. Fire illuminated the path with her Sunsteel Strike, but only immediately around her. She couldn't see too far ahead, piercing the darkness seemed to be a tougher task than she could expect.
And yet, she couldn't help but overhear everyone else as they ran.
They were taking Pokemon.
Her heart skipped a beat inside her chest in panic. They had to leave. Now.
As soon as Laguna saw the underwater path, illuminated by EXIT lights, she was swift to turn around to ask Mr. Business how long he could hold his breath, when she saw him peeking his head around the other doorway.
"Business! We gotta go! Can you-"
"Wait, wait. This room is interesting. They kept important papers here. I can tell."
"How can you tell?" Laguna asked, a bit dumbfounded. But she wasn't about to distrust her Pokemon. They were here looking for information and anything potentially useful, after all. If they could somehow still make it out with something, maybe it would be worth it.
"The organization! Trust the business instinct! Quickly now, they could be here any second!"
The three of them swiftly adjusted course, dashing THROUGH the ruined cubicles. The blinking lights of sleeping electronics like stars, flickering in the darkness as papers ruffled around.
"Oh, if I had time to get these old Personal Computers a good shake awake," Mr. Business relented as he ran alongside, holding Glacia ever still. "A little elbow grease, attach a printer, and we'd be in a smorgasbord of data."
"Sadly, gonna have to wait till next time Business!" Laguna jumped over one cubicle to the next, rather than attempting to dash around them. However, Business seemed to pause. His well trained eye for official documents catching something in a small, manilla envolope He quickly grabbed the letter in one hand before jumping over the cubicle as if he was climbing invisible stairs.
"Got something!"
"No time-"
"Right! No time to stop. I'll read it aloud. Multitasking is a valuable skill in business." He'd clear his throat, beginning to read out. His voice monotone, as if he's reading a presentation to a boardroom of dedicated employees, instead of a group of desperately running players and PokĂŠmon running for their very lives from alien beasts that threatened to abduct them.
"Nine Thirty-Eight, Twelve Oh-One. X X X X. Urgent Memo." Another throat clearing, ducking beneath a series of stacked decks to climb between a few more ruined cubicles, following his trainer's flaming trail.
"For internal circulation only. It has come to management attention that a number of Environmental irregularities are causing significant distress among the office staff- Yeah, no kidding."
"Ahem. Due to the irregular circumstances, the PokĂŠmon League has issued a Stay at Home order, effective immediately. Please return to your homes and continue work from there- Woah!" He swiftly jumped over a very obvious tripping hazard. The fatal half-inch of debris, could have been deadly!
"-And be prepared to evacuate if necessary. The current recommended evacuation route is via Liberty Pier to the South. We appreciate your continued efforts, blah blah." His monotone voice swiftly faded, filled with his normal upbeat tone. "The rest is corporate speech. Let's boogie and get out of here!"

Fact of the matter was that his Grookey had been taken by those tiny little murder papers had set him on high alert.
This is fucked up! he thought as he looked over to where Muninn the Murkrow was still flying; having gone through the quiet corridor.
The avian PokĂŠmon would find a crumpled piece of paper sticking out of somewhere not too far ahead; with the swift motion of a corvid blessed (or cursed) to chase shinies, the Murkrow would snatch the paper up and throw it at the human, who let out a bellow at the surprise paper that had been sent flying straight at him!
âCazzo?!â he exclaimed as he grabbed the crumpled paper before it hit him, and read through it.
Why was it talking about some kind of a stay at home protocol? Okay, this was alarming.
âHuh? What the hell happened here?!â he would quietly swear as he and the Murkrow continued to tear a path through the strange location.

Respiro peeked in through the first door, saw how much water there was, and quickly popped back out again. He abruptly ran into Dodrio, batting at its feathers as he squeezed determinedly past it. <Changing your mind?> Respiro patpatted on, leaving equals-shaped prints behind him. He'd lost time in his curiosity, but he had yet to learn of consequence. As the hand fate often dealt him, he had thus far gone unpunished. He had always been loved by Lady Luck. The cubicles blinked and winked like tiny eyes, ancient devices still powered by some living battery. Respiro clicked through them, stopping from time to time to examine one. He seemed curious, but no longer hurried. <You're not running anymore?> Regardless of words, Vivillon's urgency buzzed in the little Gardener's ears like black flies, annoying him. He wanted to find something here. Not a knife, not a coffee cup. There was a !! marker hovering over an office memo, which Respiro seized in both hands. As written text, it automatically came up with a [tangent= 9:38 12-01-XXXX Nota urgente Solo para circulaciĂłn interna

âWell I guess thatâs one way to make sure we read the memo.â Alicia muttered under her breath as the UI insisted on covering up her field of view with the prompt. Unfortunately, she couldnât swipe it away in her current state! Which was only compounding vision problems. But from the sounds of commotion behind her, it looked like everyone piled in after her? Hopefully they didnât get stuck in Yggdrilâs syrup! She hadnât considered that before hand, but it was too late to change minds now! âI didnât get a chance to read it clearly, but it looks like we all got three âlivesâ in this little race scene. So our Pokemon are eating the consequences of the first two failures. After that? I donât know what happens to us, and I donât want to know!â Alicia called back to Josh Devlin when he caught up and asked his concerning question. He already lost two of his Pokemon to this madness!? She could only imagine how much worse it was for him. Two separate Everworld trips for the same reason was- Hold on⌠Since she was thinking of it, she glanced over to Fumarâs grayed out slot. While it reminded her of Tikaniâs condition after Jarzick⌠there was a distinct difference. Now that she thought about it, Tikaniâs icon had been ringed with red. But Fumarâs was just gray all around. â⌠Like heâs just⌠missingâŚâ Alicia muttered, narrowing her eyes. And with that, a small fire ignited. She swore silently that sheâd amend this mistake somehow, someway. She was going to get her comrade back even if it killed her. âEarth to Alicia! Come in Alicia!â âLook alive!â âGANGWAY! COMING THROUGH!âYggdrilâs chatter snapped her out of her thoughts and she prepared herself. From the sounds of it, there was another pathway in front of them. And one probably off to the side again, but could they even- âNo, we ainât taking a fire escape!â âWe see that look in your eye!â âThatâs doom for us for sure!â âOur fat apple will get stuck for sure!âThey had a valid point, and so Alicia geared up to smash through the more readily accessible doorway. âHAAAAAA!âWith a cacophony of shattering⌠wood? Glass? She couldnât tell what the door was made up of any more. At least all the paperwork from the cubicles was giving her safe spaces to push Yggdril with. But it was also denying the ability to identify what they were smashing into now. What was immediately apparent was that this was some kind of garden they crashed into. âLight!â âGlorious Sunlight!â âOh how we missed the sight!â âShining on a path so bright!ââSave the impromptu amateur poetry hour for later!â Alicia squawked out at the syrpents at their sudden rhyme time. How could they suddenly sync up for this out of no where!? âSorry!ââââââââââââââââââââââââ Apples to Apples! (Taking the ENTRANCE to the Garden!)

Josh, fearful and confused as to why he was running around with no PokĂŠmon, frantically tried to dismiss the disturbing pop-up. It obscured his vision, causing him to lose valuable time. Even quickly scrolling to the bottom didn't help matters, as the pop-up was on a timer. By the time he could dismiss it and see the next turns, the swarm was right on top of him!
The incessant buzzing scrambled any sense of hearing that remained. All he could see was a door marked FIRE EXIT and a sign marked EXECUTIVE GARDEN... pointing in the opposite direction. By now, he had realized that there was a pattern to how the Ultra Beasts were laid out. He was almost certain that only one of the two paths was associated with the traits of one of them. None of the ones he could think of were Grass-types. With that knowledge, his heart sank into his gut.
He was a dead man walking, wasn't he?
On the slim chance that his deduction was wrong, he charged into the door's rusted push-bar in an effort to loosen it and take the fire exit. It was only his reduced pain levels and KINDLER class that let him withstand the tremendous heat. As he held onto the pole with one hand, waiting to reach the bottom, he went into his direct messages and sent Alicia Westfield a morbid message:
DIRECT MESSAGE> Alicia... I'm sorry...
FIRE ESCAPE, please!

Even with the RUNNING SHOES, Shalin could simply not keep pace with Reynir, the scared horse fleeing for his life toward the EXECUTIVE GARDEN. Seeing which way the Ponyta went may have saved her life, as upon approaching the intersection, a pair of intrusive pop-ups obscured her vision. One being the acquisition of a MARBLE EYE, which she was quick to dismiss. The other, not so easily dismissed, was a red one showing she had been inflicted with a nasty ailment.
She was heartbroken. She was going to have to part ways with one of her PokĂŠmon? And she couldn't just catch a PokĂŠmon to be used as a sacrificial Mareep? That would be a decision for future her to ponder. Instead, her survival instincts kicked in, doing her best to keep her eyes on the frightened, fleeing Ponyta as her ears followed the psychic-type's clacking hooves.

He wondered how far this entire thing was. These running-kind of games had to have some kind of terminal point, right?
(The only problem was that he knew that Temple Run was fucking endless, as that was one of the games that kept his idle hands busy when he was down and out on a smoke break in the real world. Anyhow.)
The path then diverged into two, and he realized that everyone whoâd been running along with them so far after choosing the united path, well⌠the âpartyâ would have to split up again.
While there was something about the âexecutive gardenâ that caught his curiosity⌠werenât they trying to escape this entire building in the first place?
âFollow me!â he would bark in his Murkrowâs direction, kicking the fire escape door open and continuing down the stairs, two at a time.
Strange⌠why did it feel like the place was on fire, despite being abandoned due to time?
running to the fire escape!

It was a garden to set dreams in. A place for kids to get lost while playing nascondino with her brothers. An overgrown patch of beauty with lost balls hidden under lush layers of greens and blues and vibrant, sunrise blossoms.
Torino had been caught, defeated, and sent to Elysium. There were no Buzzwole here. Only the wonders of nature left to grow and experiment with new shapes of beauty.
"Girasoli! It is your brother!" Torino joked, pointing at a strange sunflower that was pointed up towards the skylight. Its petals were warped, bent like melting glass, and the seeds in its face were a vibrant purple.
Petilil bounced alongside her, squeaking in protest of the slower pace. Unlike Torino she hadn't been suckered in by the garden of delights. The Buzzwole threat was lodged firmly in her mind, and she wanted to GO!
She headbutted Torino, trying to impact some urgency into her flower-struck trainer.
"This one is a crossbreed!" said Torino, inspecting a blossom hanging from a rebar trellis. "Can I take one, do you think?"
Petilil bloomed in frustration, white leaves bursting outwards into springtime limbs that slapped at Torino. "Grab the flower and go!" demanded the evolved Girasoli. She dipped and swayed on her peach-blush legs, eager to find an exit.
"Girasoli! You evolved!" Torino cried out, her attention drawn to the gorgeous Hisuian form. "Are you a crossbreed too? I do not know your bloom?"
"Look while we run!"
