It took a while of deep thought, but the best thing she could think to do to help research why the Ultra Beasts were capable of confronting the corruption so casually, was to convince others to somehow join her.
And then... take them to Asper. She didn't like the idea, worried what was happening to them. Just how intrusive was The Voice? Clearly they responded intensely to being pulled away from it, but that only meant it had a location.
There was, probably, a defined place where The Voice was coming from. And if anyone could find it, she had her faith in Cygnus. He had discovered wilder things before. And yet, the task filled her with no small amount of worry. Proper combat seemed inevitable in the end. She couldn't explain herself to the Ultra Beasts she encountered, even the ones in her care didn't truly understand her. She was hoping to change that.
"Are you ready to go, Omnia?" She wasn't confident in the nickname, but the Nihilego hadn't complained yet.
They floated by her side, moving forwards through the city streets at the exact same pace as Laguna did. Their almost ghostly form swinging, tentacles swaying in a shockingly similar way that Laguna moved her arms.
"... You are, way too good at that."

"You know, every time I go somewhere, I wonder why it is you do that." She'd climb up overtop an old car, standing atop the roof. It was old and rusty, but enough to still hold her weight and give her a decent enough vantage point down the streets. "It's like, you don't know how to be yourself. Or, maybe you just really like me?"
"I don't know what the truth is, but I'm sure we'll figure it out eventually."The Nihilego says nothing, just floating right next to Laguna atop the car.
Laguna pauses to listen to her ears, hearing the sounds of noises in the distance. Unfortunately, with the amount of Players floating about getting into who knows what, there's no way to really know what is and isn't an Ultra Beast.Except if she hears a Pokemon Cry, that is. That was almost certainly not an Ultra Beast. Silent, she continues to focus before hearing a cracking sound fairly close by. Another Player or Ultra Beast, it didn't matter. It was better to be cautious, and wrong, than be caught unprepared.
She immediatly grabbed her wand from her waist, twirling it in front of her as the winds picked up. "Alright, where are y- What are you doing?"
Laguna glanced over at Omnia, who having no immediate analog for a wand, seemed to rip the car antenna off the wreck and wielded that.
"God, that is so adorable."

There was so much to explore in the Forgotten Nexus, with countless abandoned buildings left to rot suddenly and mysteriously, each filled with secrets and tetanus rich nails just waiting for the careless explorer to discover. Orion, however, was working a different angle. Plasma's entire MO was about communication, consent, and companionship. All three of those things were increasingly difficult to develop with a rather large lumbering oaf of a swole bug he's taken to calling Adze, named after a west African firefly spirit that drank blood. The large lumbering creature spoke not a word, save for occasionally making guttural sounds that sounded something akin to a warped and warbled record scratch. He had, however, picked up a few quirks having spent time with the fighter.
Like the banana yellow bandanna wrapped around his dome.
"You doin alright over there buggy buddy?" Orion asked over the silence, the critter stopped and turned it's bulbous eyes back to Orion, unblinking and unspeaking. If he understood anything Orion stated verbally, he showed no signs apart from simply acknowledging that he'd spoken. With a sigh, Orion raised one hand up and flashed the bug a thumbs up. The creature peered at the sign, then mimiced it, giving its hand a wiggle.
At least he seemed to understand that?
A crackle of static drew both sets of eyes to their right, where there appeared to be some sort of scrimbly looking christmas light dingus charging up some electricity and pointing it at...
"LOOKOUT BLUE!"
Orion roared, diving from his vantage point like a wrestler coming off the top ropes. The Buzzswole, noticing the trainers agitation and action followed suit, muscles bulging at it dove from on high and dove down onto the ultrabeast and disrupting the blow meant for the dancer and her current partner. The pulse of energy let out a bassy THWUMP, and the crackle of ozone filled the air as it felt like ants coursed through Orion's veins, his teeth grit in frustration.
"MOTHERFUCKER! THAT HURT!"

Electricty crackling drew her attention, but it seemed it was both an Ultra Beast nearby and-
"Orion!" Laguna shouted out his name, both happy to see him and worried that he was here as soon as threats seemed to rear their ugly head. He really had a habit of appearing at the best and worst times.
When he shouted to lookout, Laguna's eyes briefly glanced at the electricity crackling in the distance before pouncing back behind the vehicle. The crackle of energy was almost overwhelming, and it seemed she had another Ultra Beast to thank for coming to their rescue.
Omnia had also ducked behind the vehicle as well, but seeing Laguna tensing up had them seemingly reacting in kind. Their car anttena wand was wielded with grace, swinging about as Laguna flicked her own wrist. She really didn't want to fight, but judging by the wildly flailing Xurkitree, wires ripped up the road and yanking out of buildings as it confronted the Buzzwole, meant they had to do something.
But how would she get Omnia to fight?
"Omnia, we need to help."
The Nihilego didn't respond. Only twisting its head as Laguna turned to look at them.
An idea dawned on her, and suddenly a smirk formed on her face.
"Coming in!" She suddenly shouted, jumping over the car wreckage and kicking her feet, sliding straight towards the confrontation as snowflakes flew behind her. The Nihlego followed suit right beside her. "If you mimic everything, then I'd like to see what you do with this."
Stretching out her wand, she twirled it and fired forwards an ice spike.
Only for the Nihilego to equally twist their 'wand' after a second, and suddenly spray Acid from their tentacle at the Xurkitree.

Hearing Laguna's voice in the heat of battle made Orion's heart race with a mixture of complicated and tense emotions. In a perfect world he would prefer to see the woman he [Tangent=Was it too early to say love?]loved[/tangent] far, far away from the heat of any battle. Yet at the same time he knew that she would be FURIOUS if he was intentionally sidelining her for the sake of "protection", and furthermore there were VERY few people (if any at all) he'd rather have on his side through shit like this.
She was his dance partner, after all.
Adze was taking the brunt of the blow, doing his best to shield both Orion and Laguna from the frantic bolts coming from the sentient mess of wires that looked like it'd just crawled out of his cousins electronics closet. More pulses of electricity buzzed and bolted, arcing around them and into the ground. When Laguna and her ultrabeast joined the fray, the macho mosquito used the distraction the provided to drive its fist upwards in a powerful uppercut. Orion recognized the move as power-up punch, and watched as the brawling bug's muscles swelled even more, as it hammered another and another home.
Not one to skip out on a beatdown, Orion surged forward, flashing Laguna a smile as he passed by her. "So what's a beautiful girl like you doing in a place like this?" He proffered sarcastically, stepping up onto a bumper of a ruined [Tangent=Weird fucking product placement but go off] Ford Focus.[/tangent] Without breaking his stride he would power forward, tossing himself from the metaphorical top ropes onto the spicy electrical ropes, hoping for big money and no [tangent=Unless you counted his fists, in which case, yes big whammies.] whammies. [/Tangent]
WHAM
His fist slammed into what he thought was the creatures face, and it's arm slammed right into his gut, knocking the wind from him and sending him flying back the way he can, slamming into the concrete like a sack of potatoes and skidding to a halt, a sickening wheeze escaping his lips as he struggled to suck in his breath. Adze paused mid pummel to turn to his trainer, flashing him a thumbs up.
Maybe he didn't know what that meant.

The Xurkitree's sparks were intense, blasting the two of them in the face as they blasted back. Blinded, Laguna had step back frowning heavily. This was not going well. The wires were unpredictable, ripping up more from the ground as if it was much larger than it seemed.
She narrowed her eyes, heart pounding as she stared at the Xurkitree, watching the confrontation.
The longer she watched, the more her blood began to boil. Memories slowly coming back to the surface of the last time she had confronted one of these Ultra Beasts.
Anger rose up in her chest, muscles tensing, her grip on the wand tightened.
A Xurkitree had taken her baby. And now it was absolutely demolishing them, no doubt looking to take them as well. Perhaps it was a good thing they had Ultra Beasts themselves by their side.
The Nihilego seemed to mimic Laguna's anger, pumping up, tentacles twisting, as if to resemble muscles.
It was as if she completely didn't hear Orion's flirt, steam metaphorically coming out of her ears, as flame literally spilled out on her skin. Her legs tensed, waiting for the right second to pounce as flames burnt so hot around her they began to melt the tar beneath her feet.
The Nihilego, for once, seemed conflicted, no longer mimicking Laguna. They didn't have any analog for the flames, twisting about wildly as they tried to come up with something. Bits of poison were sprayed around them, but they couldn't upkeep it quite like Laguna was with her flames.
Unfortunately, Laguna was no longer paying attention. Her eyes were no longer on her new friend, but the enemy that reminded her of her personal failures.
With only silence as a response, and anger so visible on her face, she'd suddenly pounce forth with intense speed as soon as it slipped away from the pummeling it was receiving. Rocketing towards them like a meteor blazing from the sun, Laguna attempted to slam their entire body straight into the Xurkitree with a Sunsteel Strike. It was a dumb decision, reckless, fueled mostly by anger at her own self for allowing it to happen. She had to make it right... But this wasn't helping anyone.
The Nihlilego didn't even follow, all turned around and twisted on itself.

"Blue?"
Orion was used to jokes falling flat, and like yeah, not everyone was a winner, but he'd never gotten that reaction out of her in the history of their torrid relationship of quips, rivalries, and romance. But to be fair, he'd never seen that look on her face either. It didn't suit her, not the woman he'd gown to know over their time. She was caring and compassionate, not...whatever horrific urge had contorted her face into a mask of emotions that he was quite intimately familiar with, though not that he'd ever quite been on the outside.
Clearly this was neither the time, nor the place for such silliness as their usual antics, and while he had already been as serious as a heart attack, now he was going to escalate to the sort of shit they set off air sirens for. His jaw clenched so tight that he was worried his teeth would fuse shut as lightning and fire danced like a special effects at one hell of a rock show gone wrong. The Buzzswole peeled from the fight both to avoid the flames, and to help untangle the nihelago as it struggled with its struggled in its limbs being mired up in their mimicry.
"Achilles."
Orion's bark was short and stern, and the lion heel needed little else in the form of instruction as he flashed into the fray. A pulse of Trick Room and Orion and Achilles were in the fray like shit on stink, Achilles using a Lariet while Orion continued to pummel in rhythm to Laguna's beatdown.
"TOGETHER."

The Nihilego tossed and turned, almost uncontrollable. It seemed to still attempt to mimic Laguna even from a distance, but with the woman now tangled up in the wires of the Xurkitree, ripping and tugging hard against the wires, it didn't seem to know what to do.
It was a tangled mess, almost folding in on itself as if it had lost its shape, its identity, if it even had one of its own to begin with. Even as it was attempted to be untangled, it seemed to just continue twisting and folding in, over and over again.
The electricity crackled across Laguna's body as she attempted to combat the wires herself. She wasn't a fighter, she wasn't even trained in combat. But she was angry. Anger blinded, she couldn't see how badly she was hurting herself, her Pokemon, and even Orion.
A scream ripped from her lips as burning skin met sparking wires, attempting to grip and pull with all her might, but fighting an alien with such a fluid physical shape meant the battle wasn't in her favor. One wire slipped around her neck, and suddenly she was choking. The lack of oxygen immediately made the flames on her body die out as swiftly as they began, Laguna reaching up to her neck to try and grab the wire, only to find no grip. She choked and gasped, desperate for air that would not come as she was tossed and dragged across the ground like nothing more than a doll.
It wasn't until she was held upright into the air, dangling like a puppet with no strings, that she saw the Nihilego. It was mimicking her own suffering, dragging across the ground, and almost certainly in visible pain. And yet, it was so easy to tell that it was not a mockery, that pain was genuine, shared.
It was in that instant that she finally realized what she had done. Her eyes shot wide, even as her vision was fading fast. She had caused this. She didn't even try to pacify the Xurkitree, she just saw red. Her self-absorbed quest for vengeance got Orion hurt, his Pokémon friends hurt, and seemed to seriously twist up the Nihilego, who had been making such good progress.
What was she doing?
Laguna couldn't even find the breath to apologize, before she felt electricity suddenly flow through her veins, and like a ragdoll she was tossed down onto the road, slamming her head into the concrete.

The beatdown was brutal by Orion's standards, the feral frenzy of Laguna was something to behold, equal parts terror, sadness, and pride filled his heart as he watched her fight. He had no clue what was driving her, a wound of great import likely, nothing else would stir her this way. Guilt and indignation swirled in his gut, a cocktail for a lethal suicide bomb of a fight. It was him or him, it didn't matter how many time he sent Orion crashing to the ground, how many times Orion'd been dumpstered to the shrine, he would keep coming until whatever this fucking thing had done to Laguna have been avenged.
Adze floundered with the floundering flotsam before figuring it best he return to the fold. Achilles did his best to work alongside Laguna and his master, both combatants who's tempos he thought he knew but...the woman's rage had things off kilter. Fighter and Heel both found themselves having to adjust more to the fiery flailing of their female friend than the ozone fueled fists of their foe. Stray embers and strikes had glanced across Orion once or twice, flashes of red and warnings of friendly fire wailing in his ear.
Shit.
Yet as it began to Choke Laguna out, a different red flashed through his eyes. A fury unlike anything he'd ever felt before as he let out a deafening roar. "LET HER THE FUCK GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" His eyes flashed cerulean and an icy blast of Moongheist Beam erupted from his lips. The blast hit the beast square in the back, but Laguna's thrashing sent shockwaves of flame towards the now immobile fighter, feet planted to keep the beam from sending him flying backwards. Without a second thought he focused on trying to free his partner, eating what would be the final blow to knock him down on the chin.
Her over him, always.
Hopefully he managed to buy her a little time.

Laguna couldn't even warn him, her neck still being squeezed so tightly it was as if her head was going to pop.
She watched helplessly he let loose a Moongeist Beam, which the Xurkitree seemed to take with absolutely no difficulty at all. It seemed to continue moving all the same, a terrifying threat to behold. It was as if this Ultra Beast moved with purpose, a violence she hadn't seen before. Not even-
This was still her fault.
It began using Laguna like a weapon, swinging and smacking the woman wildly against the remaining Pokemon who were trying hard to avoid hitting her, but it was too late.
She tried to scream as she watched Orion get knocked down by the remnants of her flames, but couldn't. All she could do is cry.
Tears dripped down her cheek, bruises covered her digital body, and electricity once again fried her nerves. Eventually, at some point, her eyes just shut, unable to take any more pain.
All the while, her own Nihilego seemed to finally stop moving.

It was hard.
Laguna didn't know what else to do.
Her heart hurt, but she couldn't just walk away from this. Omnia was gone, banished to the Everworld, and it was all her fault. There was only one thing she could even think to do.
Resolve the situation. Make peace with the Xurkitree. It wasn't at fault, she knew that. This probably wasn't even the same one that took her baby, Glacia. She could not allow herself to wallow in her misery.
"... Orion," Laguna eventually spoke, standing on the road as she looked out across the street to witness the Xurkitree. It's wires were all wrapped up through the abandoned vehicle, as if it was trying to consume it, or perhaps just figure out how it worked. She truly had no idea, but the fact of the matter is, it didn't seem to matter anymore.
"I'm going to talk to it." She'd steel her nerves, even as her heart threatened to beat out of her chest, the tears threatening to spill. "Maybe it can't understand me, but I won't hurt it. If we stand any chance of helping them... We have to figure it out."
"I'm sorry," She'd squeeze his hand, before finally letting go. "I didn't mean to get you into this. You suffered because of me, I..." She'd sniff, rubbing at her eyes for a moment. "I need to resolve this. Put this to rest. Please, come with me."
And with that, she stepped out. No Pokemon backing her, her muscles tense, but trying her hardest to remain calm.
As difficult as that was.
"Hey." Laguna spoke up, trying to get the attention of the Xurkitree. It didn't even seem to notice her at first, but then again, it didn't have eyes. She couldn't gauge where it saw from at all. "... I'm sorry." She spoke up even louder, her feet firmly planted onto the ground.
Her speaking again finally had its attention, a few wires untwisting from the vehicle, pulling out from its broken windows and shifting out to stumble outwards onto the road. It twisted about like a braided wire, spinning in place a few times before their form stood up tall and straight.
Laguna just stared straight up at it, hands by her side, one hand open, stretching backwards hoping to grab onto Orion's. "I didn't even attempt to understand you, I was just... angry. I'm sorry." It couldn't understand her, it didn't think like her. But she hoped, somehow, that something would get across. Something, anything.
Anything at all.
The Xurkitree just seemed to continue to twist about, bouncing up and down in place as it held up a few wires, electricity already sparking.

"Oi." Orion barked, grabbing her hand as she offered him a squeeze and holding her gaze for a moment. "Three things hun, Firstly, this is a Tuesday for me. I aint sufferin shit just yet, I'm helping the woman I love take care of business. I'd march face first into hell hand and hand with you and you'd never catch me complaining. Two, I don't accept apologies cause you aint ever got nothin to apologize to me for. Just tell me how much you love my cute butt and give me a kiss and we're even, and Three." His eyes narrowed. "You don't ever gotta worry about me not having your back, we started this together, we're gonna finish it together? Capiche mi amore?"
Stealing a quick kiss on her cheek, he'd march along with her, hunting down his ancient nemesis, tangled wires, hand in hand.
As she reached for him he was there, stalwart and ready. "We don't know what you're going through, we've only ever been able to talk to your kind once but..." Sparks flew and he joined Laguna at her side, keeping an eye out for errant danger. "I can only imagine what it feels like, to be manipulated by whatever that voice is, to have your sovereignty stolen. We can help you! We're sorry we picked a fight, it wasn't right but..."
He'd offer an extended hand. "Together maybe we can help the rest of your kind break free!"

The Xurkitree continued to spark, its wires twisting and coiling like a pit of vipers swirling in on itself into oblivion. It never seemed to moved closer, keeping its distance from the two trainers standing on the road. A few more wires ripped up from the earth, betraying just how many the the creature truly had.
It made noises, but none of them were any that Laguna recognized. It felt almost like it was attempting a communication, zaps and cracks and sparks and whip smacks from cables filled the air. There was no understanding, no reasoning. Whatever the Trainers were doing, whatever they were saying, it clearly did not interpret it as was intended.
And yet, despite the language barrier, it eventually moved.
It approached closer, and Laguna froze on instinct. She didn't dare back up, didn't bare to move. Simply standing her ground, and squeezing Orion's own hand as hard as she could.
Her fear felt so tangible as it filled the air, but the Xurkitree moved through it like he was slicing like a hot knife through jello. They eventually moved so close, the sparks from the cables were bouncing off of her clothing.
Laguna audibly gasped, steeling her resolve as she finally spoke again. "We want to help. I know a very smart man who can maybe try and help us understand you. J-just-"
Her words were suddenly interrupted, as wires immediately twisting around the trainers standing there, twisting and coiling like a tornado of wires trapping them within. Laguna's breath caught in her throat, and she could swear she felt her neck still burning.

Orion's hand gripped Laguna's tighter as the electronic snare coiled around the two, a twister of tangled wire that filled the air with the acrid scent of ozone and copper. He kept his breathing measured, calm, forcing his heartbeat to stay as even as it could, forcing any and all fight or flight instincts to the bottom of his brain. His knees desperately wanted to shake, his hands wanted to tremble, but he refused to let himself falter. He was standing next to his partner, and together they were facing down the plasma chucking pokemon with the values of Plasma.
He wondered if the professor would find this stunt stupid or impressive.
His muscles clenched, braced ready to act at any given moment, ready to jump into action should the beast choose violence. He would not let an eye be taken for an eye, he would smash this beast into the concrete if it shunned their peace but still...
He wanted desperately to not have to fight, to live in a world in which the olive branch was met with olive branch, in which violence could be a thing of the past.
"We just want to help." He mirrored, voice steeled with his resolve. "You just have to let us."
Arcs of electricity leapt from the wires, scattering around the the two. Nothing outright violent, but he did find himself pulling Laguna closer, wrapping his arms around her as he did his best to act as a bulwark between her and the danger.
"We're getting through to it." He grunted, his legs and body trembling as errant sparks caught him. "Just a little more babe."

The Xurkitree twisted and coiled, like a viper waiting to pounce, but never releasing that tension. Like a cord twisting and twisting, ready to snap back, only it never did. Perhaps it too, was waiting for something that never seemed to come.
'"... You can't understand us. And that's okay." She swallowed her nerves, forcing herself to speak up as it continued to twist. "English isn't my strong suit either, I get it. But-"
She paused, slowly shifting one of her hands down to her hips. With a brief glance over at Orion, a nervous grin forming, she suddenly held out her Golden Pokeball.
"But you recognize images, don't you? Even if you don't know what it is, you've seen this before, haven't you?"
The Xurkitree suddenly twisted around horrifically, wires digging into the earth and ripping up some more asphalt of the road. Was it fear? Excitement? Perhaps some unknown emotion she couldn't comprehend nor imagine? Or perhaps something else all together.
And yet, before Laguna could properly panic, the Xurkitree suddenly untwirled. Arms spiraling out, coils unwinding drastically, until the figure slumped onto the ground like a messy server room. In the end, it seemed to just lazily hold up one single wire, directed directly towards the Pokeball. Her heart was pounding away, but she couldn't deny the soft smile that spread across her face as she simply dropped the pokeball onto them, watching them vanish instantly within.
All tension immediately left her body, and Laguna immediately shifted over to press a soft kiss to Orion's cheek. Her smile was tinged with sadness, the greyed out form of Omnia in her boxes still weighed on her. "Well, my girl's night went as well as I expected, but I appreciate it you being here. Think I might log off for a while, clear my head and focus first. Okay?"
