Seeing the prompt from the floor before last repeat itself, Alicia sighed softly and prepared to swap over to Sylvene again. But for some reason the Tower didn’t stop Venex from moving and, smelling blood in the air, the Naganadel struck again.
He swooped in and launched a series of devastating stings in a Fury Attack. The prompt ‘dinged’ on her and she blinked in surprise.
”Wha…?” she asked in confusion
”Was… Young… once. Different. Small.” Venex growled out in his broken English. ”No. longer. Grew. Met You. Learned.”
… Right, Naganadel evolved from Poipole… Alicia wanted to face palm at that, but merely smiled to her Ultra Beast. ”Thank you again…”

Recalling Venex after that, she pivoted back to Ronda. ”Need Speed my friend, Quick Attack!”
”Woop woop! Time to run!” Ronda cheered as he charged. ”Nyoom!”
The Cyclizar blurred as he lunged for a Pidgey, taking it out with a rapid claw attack before bouncing back to Alicia’s side.
”Nice going!” Alicia cheered, smirking.

Had Josh Devlin or Kyukon gotten past their walls? Pity, she was enjoying the chance to breathe. Calling her Toedscool out, Alicia patted him on the head. ”Grassy Terrain again. You can do it.””Mmmph…” Shylla groaned out. ”Well that was an annoying detour.” Alicia grumbled out. She didn’t have a single Unovan Pokemon, but she fixed that at the moment. But… yeah this was going to be a temporary affair. Referring to the message she prepared for herself to keep a mind of the Trubbish’s available moves, she called the garbage mon out. ”Acid Spray, please.”
Fortunately, the Trubbish was fine with following commands for the moment. With a quick breath, it spat globs of liquid at a Pidgey, causing a caustic sizzle that made Alicia wince. Poison types could be… vicious, couldn’t they?

Nodding to herself, and hoping she wouldn’t have to rely on the trash bag Pokemon too much, she recalled the Trubbish in short order. Calling Crios back out, she pointed at a retreating Pidgey. ”Bind ‘em!”
Crios rumbled, coiling like a serpent. Tensing granite muscle and generating potential energy. Then he struck, exploding with all that condensed strength. A display that was already terrifying in its velocity was made even scarier by the fact that the Onix was so much larger than your average snake. The Pidgey never stood a chance, getting caught in Crios’ coils and dropped to the floor below in short order.
”Getting closer…” Alicia mused to herself. Who would reach the top first? She had her lead so far but things could change in a blink of an eye.

Recalling Crios, Alicia swirled through her list of available Pokemon and flicked Nushi’s Pokeball back out into the scene. The fish let out his characteristic whoop of joy as he went flying through the air. ”Focus Nushi, Night Slash please!”
”Right right, let’s go!” Nushi answered, gathering dark energies as he charged an unfortunate Pidgey. With a fierce slash, he took the bird down with ease and did a half somersault to flip himself back around to Alicia’s side. ”We still making good time, ya?”
”Oh yeah, we’re still out in front.” Alicia replied, grinning as the floor kept rising. She could taunt them if she wanted… but that seemed like bad manners and she was in this for the fun of it all.

Alola again, huh? Well, time to give her second Ultra Beast a moment to shine. Recalling Nushi, she sent out the living rocket ship she finally had a name for ”Go for it, Yuyan!”
Unfortunately, she hadn’t had nearly as much time to work with the Celesteela as she did with Venex. The Steel/Flying type was purely acting on its own merits, as it swung one of its rocket arms in a vicious Smack Down.
Fortunately, Alicia didn’t need any specific move type, just the use of a Seventh generation Pokemon. Yuyan’s very species fit the bill, and so the prompt chimed ‘complete’.

Another regional prompt. But this one she had a few options for. Sylvene had just burned herself out with a Hurricane recently, though, so she would rather not resort to the newly evolved Pidgeot. So Alicia recalled her Ultra Beast and sent in Rath instead. ”Pace yourself, Flame Wheel!”
”Rrrright!” Rath growled out with a yip at the end, summoning his flames around his body and racing down another Pidgey. The pup barked as he lunged upward, tagging the bird and accomplishing the task at hand. At which point he ran back to Alicia and jumped on her, licking her face. ”I’m doing good, right? Right?”
”Ahahaha! Yes you’re doing great! Now focus already!” Alicia laughed out as she fended off Rath’s licks.

Oh good, she had just the mon she needed out for this next one. Rath was a base-stage Pokemon. ”Be a good boy and get back in there with a Bite!”
Yipping, Rath bounced off her and bounced around like an over-stimulated puppy as he lunged for another Pidgey. The poor bird squawked as it feared becoming the Growlithe’s chew toy. Which was made even worse as Rath shook his head vigorously before letting go. The Pidgey, dizzy from the fanged ride, crashed into the nearby wall and collapsed.
”… That was a bit more than I was going for.” Alicia mused. ”But it works.”

She could be honest with this, and call in her Weedle. Or she could be cheeky and go with what the very Tree of Worms itself considered a “worm pokemon”. She decided to be Cheeky. And if it didn’t work, she had a back-up.
”Crios, Tackle please!” Alicia ordered as she released the rock snake.
He was a serpent to her. But she got him from working with Altair and Shalin on another legacy Tree of Worms tower. Did she consider this valid? Not really. But as the tower dinged from the Onix head butting a Pidgey out of the air, the game sure as heck considered it valid!
And being Technically Correct was the best kind of Correct.

”Good going, Crios.” Alicia chimed, waving.
”I feel like I was involved in some dishonesty.” Crios complained.
”Don’t worry about it.” Alicia waved off the snake’s concerns, withdrawing him before he could hang more lampshades where they weren’t wanted. ”Voltine, need you again. Will you Tackle a bird for me? Please?”
”… I suppose if I keep getting ear scratches out of the deal.” Voltine admitted as she got up and stretched. ”I’d think about it.”
”Certainly!” Alicia answered happily, smiling. Hopefully not too happily though, she realized she might’ve just given away her leverage too quickly…
”Alright then.” Voltine agreed, running up and Tackling a bird for the pinkette. At which point she then turned and marched herself right back to the hero’s side and held her head out expectantly.
Alicia, who enjoyed the feel of the feline’s fur, was happy to oblige. She kneeled down and gave the Shinx plenty of scratches on the ears. And in response the cat’s motor kicked into gear as she pushed in closer to Alicia’s lap.
Whatever works, the hero aspirant decided.

Which was distressingly close to 00”00’00 Either Josh Devlin or Kyukon were right on her tail suddenly! ”GEEZ!” Alicia exclaimed, snapping Giyun’s Pokeball out into the field. ”Hyper Beam! We need to light a fire!””The boyscout’s that close!?” Giyun asked, startled, as he charged up. ”One of them are!” Alicia confirmed. ”Gotta call you back.” Alicia noted. The Duraludon let out an annoyed growl as he disappeared back into his Pokeball. Then Crios was returned to the field, still looking a bit upset.
”We’re doing this again?” Crios asked.
”Don’t blame me, the tower counts you as a worm Pokemon.” Alicia replied.
”Is that so…?” The Onix wasn’t fully convinced
”Mhmm. So a Smack Down please.”
”Very well.” Crios relented, thwacking another unfortunate Pidgey.
Honestly, things like these were sad taken out of context, if Alicia thought about it. These birds could be really special if they weren’t held back by only having basic AI functionality…

Another one? Well at least it had been a bunch of floors since the tower asked her for a Z-Move, and so Alicia felt she had the strength to fire off another one. ”Crios, time for some Z-Power!”
”Let us be off then.” Crios replied, a small grin on his rocky face.
”TECTONIC RAGE!”
The Onix let out a roar as the energy flowed through him in a golden hue, executing the mighty Z-Move with all due haste. … But it WAS still a lengthy cutscene all told. The ground quaked and trembled under the boulder serpent’s might. And, technically, it shouldn’t have done anything to the bird Pokemon, but the Tower let it through and sent a Pidgey away all the same.
