Since our Beta launch we've been hard at work adding, tweaking, and fixing. Patch 0.2 is all about quality of life improvements and getting the site running as smooth as Silcoon. You can check it out here!

Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

While the invasive species were no longer running rampant around these parts (it was a good thing he had the ones he wanted) everything had changed so fast, so quickly, so— Oh? There was a new notification on his screen about a Story Quest—and it was one of the last; in fact it was the very last thing he needed to unlock something! No, no, don’t go after the Ralts just yet. We can handle that later! he thought as he hurriedly beat ass and made tracks to the Forgotten Nexus—while it still looked the same; fact of the matter was that instead of having to be hyperaware of his surroundings in case he was snuck up on. The reason for this was because, well, ever since he’d started coming out here, it was always the challenge of surviving either getting shanked, knocked down, exploded on, or otherwise mangled in a myriad horrifying ways by the strange invasive species that used to call this place home. “It’s a lot calmer now, that’s for sure…” he hummed quietly. He didn’t have any Pokémon companions out, at least not yet, because what was he going to meet out here? And what was he? A Kindler! Maxed out, to boot. (Though, honestly, maybe he was the outlier here, why did he have some kind or variant of hydrophobia whenever he saw deep bodies of water?) He was also reminded of someone who had one of these, and cackled quietly. “Not today, kid. Sorry,” he would mutter before plucking out a certain Pokéball and giving the warning shot, “I need your help,” watching as the Chimchar emerged with a very wide yawn… yes, it was Wukong’s turn to get their steps in for the day. ‘So… what do you want me to do?’ the simian yawned, before his lazy eyes landed on the Grass-type… wait, it was a Grass--type, right? “Well, practice! I know you did say to give you a warning before I called you, right?” ‘Out here, though?’ “I mean, new place, new things to find…” ‘Fair point,’ the simian would yawn, stretching their tiny little limbs overhead before shaking their neck and getting ready—and rushing towards the Skiddo. this is for science!

Well, he doesn’t seem to be that lazy whenever he’s fighting… he thought idly as he stood around, shifting his balance from one foot to another as he watched the battle unfold. Sure, the Skiddo was trying their best to repel the flames, but a Grass-type against a Fire-type? The match-up was simply too skewed in the Chimchar’s favor. ‘Rather feisty!’ the Chimchar snickered as a burst of green energy came from the Skiddo in retaliation for the flames that were now licking the mossy ‘cape’ the Grass-type had on its body. “Don’t incinerate them too much!” he would call out, sighing as he resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. this is for science!

I know you like sleeping, so…” he would call out from where he stood; as the bursts of flame and the shower of grass would scatter across the landscape and paint the area red and green amidst the seemingly flat, drained aura of the surrounding landscape. ‘What, you’re worried about me?’ “Of course I am! What kind of person am I if I’m not?!” he exclaimed, stretching his hands out in a ‘what the hell’ gesture. ‘Heh, nice to know someone cares about this ass!’ this is for science!

He would turn his attention back to where the landscape continued to flash in color—red, green, red, and then green once again. While he couldn’t hear the squabbling between the Skiddo and the Chimchar, fact of the matter was that there was color brushing through the desolate area, little pops of light against the stark whiteness. “He really likes fighting,” he chuckled quietly as he continued to shift his balance from one foot to another. How would the fated encounter end? this is for science!

Name something after a mythical creature, they tend to start acting like them given enough time. (Was that why Wukong was so lazy half the time?) “Congrats,” he would complement the Fire-type, walking over and pulling out the golden Pokéball, before tapping it on the snout of the Skiddo. ‘Well… that wasn’t much.’ “But you did a lot!” ‘No, I didn’t.’ “Oh, come on. Why are you so modest?” The two would then continue bickering; both pairs of eyes watching as the red beam of light swallowed the Skiddo up into its beam… catch attempt on Skiddo! this is for science!
