No experiment worth its name as such relies solely on a single test run. That’s just obvious, right?
Tuesday may not be in possession of an overabundance of Seedot, but she does happen to find a second one.
What does she do with it?
The answer is obvious enough.
Standing at the edge of the Precipice Shrine, the catgirl stares down at the tips of leather boots that are marked by the mud that seems to define these Misty Timberlands. Were this the real world, Tuesday would find it to be an upsetting sight, but in this virtual reality, she’s otherwise preoccupied.
"Ancile, do you see that?"
The Seedot squirms in her grasp, attempting to break free. She holds it by one leg, and she does not release it. Not yet, at least.
<'What is it, my liege?'>
"Call me crazy, but I think I can see an eye down there."
Is it just her imagination? Is it the unexpected result of her last experiment? Whatever the case, Tuesday has a feeling that there’s something slumbering down at the bottom of the precipice…
Her stoic Cryogonal says nothing.
She shrugs.
"Okay, well… Let’s see if this will wake it."
Just like that, the second Seedot is lightly tossed, and when she lets go of it, it seems surprised before beginning to loudly scream as it falls. Over the small pokémon’s terrified screams, Tuesday yells too, cupping her hands over her mouth for extra effect and everything:
"TO KEEP YOU COMPANYYYYY!"
Disappointingly, nothing changes.

To no one’s surprise, especially not Tuesday’s, wandering through the Misty Timberlands had once again led her straight to the shrine. Nothing unusual about that. Nothing unexpected. Nothing unwelcome…
Except that, well… The precipice has been giving her a much weirder feeling than usual lately.
Does it have to do with the two Seedot she threw in there? Maybe.
"How’s it going down there? Still creepy and asleep?"
There is, of course, no response at all This too is a usual and expected outcome.
"Yup. Figured as much. Have a good nap, I guess"
She probably should be more bothered by the fact that there’s still no knowing what the hell lurks down there, but alas, she’d rather not waste more precious time.

"Stupid bats, stupid walks, stupid, stupid stupid-" She mumbled as she approached the shrine, sighing heavily to herself. She really needed to get it all together, she was too much of a risk-taker. She couldn't keep letting her pokemon get taken out like this.
Laguna stared into the abyss down below, the empty hole, and simply sighed once more as she held Glacia's Pokeball in her hands. "This has to end, right? I mean, it's a game, but... I should look into upgrading their health. I really don't want to keep coming back here."
She'd rest for a few moments, making sure her Pokemon felt freshened up before slowly making her way back towards the settlement. She had a score to settle, after all.
"Uh, thanks. Whoever lives in that pit. Appreciate it." Even if she felt empty about the whole thing, healing here felt so weird, but she wasn't about to let that Noibat get away.
Not yet.

Morgana stood at the edge of the pit at the edge of the woods, rocking on her heels.
It was natural to think something was inside the vast hole, something waiting at the bottom, staring up at her even as she stared down. But Morgana felt in her bones something far more chilling— there was nothing there. She felt an absence in the abyss, a void that pulled the injuries from her team and the memory of how she'd found her way through the Timberlands to this location.
She flexed her fingers.
Something is different.
Blue eyes seemed gray, just for a moment.
Then Morgana held a dripping Glaceon over the edge of the pit by the scruff of its neck. "Heal, Starface!" she commanded, voice ringing dramatically in their stark surroundings. It was swallowed mutely by the Shrine, each word fading, muffled, then snuffed out like candle flame. It was a drop in an ocean of silence.
Glaceon's Tall Grass HP bar filled all the way up and Morgana pulled it back, turning on her heel. "Time to go," she said softly. "But we'll be back."

"So, Aesop…"
<'Sup?'>
"Hypothetically speaking, how would you feel about going to have a look at what’s down there?"
<'Fuck no.'>
"Ugh, it’s so fucking weird when you curse. Where did you learn that?"
It’s as much of a mystery as what rests at the bottom of the Precipice Shrine. Tuesday is only certain of a few things when it comes to the hole at the edge of the timberland: whatever is down there is awake, it knows they’re up here, and it’s not particularly bothered by all the things people keep throwing in its hole – not even the Seedot!
Maybe the answer is throwing more Seedot!
She’d still would rather have Aesop go have a look, though…
<'...Can we just go? This place gives me the creeps…'>
"Ugh. You’re so boring. No scientific curiosity at all. Fiiine, let’s go."

"Listen… It’s not me, it’s you."
<'Is that how that’s supposed to go?! Tuesday? Tuesday?!'>
A heavy sigh escapes the petite woman, her cat ears lowering against her luscious golden hair. It’s at the edge of the Precipice Shrine that she finds herself kneeling like she has done many times before – as if this truly were her object of worship. Perhaps it is, in its own bizarre way.
See, Mars had long ago denounced his Catholic upbringing and abandoned all religion, yet here he is: in a game, with his avatar kneeling by this mysterious hole in the ground to which she constantly speaks and has even made sacrifices to as if this were the times of antiquity. Perhaps Finnegan Fjord is onto something with building himself a church. If only their families could see them now.
The fox squirms in her grasp.
Right… the fox.
”I just want you to get a look at what’s down there for me, Aesop. I’ll come get you at the Everworld. Don’t be such a baby.” Her eyes roll, garnet and sapphire. There are more than a few among her pokémon that would do as she asks without a question, such as Ancile and Chariot. The thing is that she has a need for Ancile and Chariot, and as much as Aesop may be her starter, he’s also… not particularly useful. And yet, she had chosen him for this, hadn’t she?
<'I’m not being a baby!! You’re asking me to die!'>
She should have toggled poké-speech off before doing this.
"Oh, Aesop…" Another sigh, and at that moment, her gaze meets that of the Fennekin, grip tightening. The pokémon freezes. "I’m not asking you. I’m telling you."
Gloved fingers let go.
Screaming, the Fennekin falls.
Tuesday gazes down at the Precipice Shrine, and as per usual, nothing changes at all. There’s always that intense feeling of being watched.
"Hm… Looks like I’m a lone wolf after all."
For now.
Time for a trip to the Everworld.
Aesop is going on an adventure...

Finn has not, in fact, laid eyes upon the Precipice Shrine.
He gazes now into the abyss with a sort of horrified wonder, kneeling at its edge and reaching into the mist to grasp at empty air. How far down did those mists reach? Would it kill him to jump into it and find out?
Right, he's here for a reason.
A few battered and some unconscious Pokémon are laid out next to the shrine. One of them stirs as the mist swirls from some breeze.
Finn continues to stare into the chasm.
It feels like it's staring back.

He was very nearly running on empty it seemed. With his HP low and feeling kind of ragged it was time to visit the shrine once more. But this time he brought something nice for it. A shiny little rock that he just very neatly dropped into it. Just because he could. After all, other people got to drop things in there all the time. So why couldn't he?

<'...You’re not going to throw me in there too, are you?'>
"Not as long as you’re useful."
<’Wow, so does that mean Aesop wasn’t? How so? Wait… Am I useful?'>
"Hmm… Not really, but we’ll get you there."
The small white fox’s eyes visibly widen with concern at his trainer’s statement, but it's not on him that Tuesday’s attention falls. She stands by the precipice, gazing down towards the darkness of the abyss. As per usual, nothing has changed at all.
<'Uhmm...What’s that supposed to mean?... Should I be worried?'>
The question draws her attention, and turning to look upon the small fox, she smirks with mystery and mischief. It’s when stepping away from the abyss that she gives her response to the Vulpix:
"It means that we have work to do, my dear Dante."

There is something about the shrine that draws his eyes, keeps him alert and curious. His eyes scan the shrine as he approaches with a tired Apollo.
After defeating the rival with Ezra, Derek decided to head toward the shrine, to heal up before heading out into the wilds for some more mons. So that he could make sure he could take somebody like the rival on by himself.
"Here we are," Derek watches the energy work its magic, smiling as he sees his rowlet do a small happy jig at being healed, picking at a few feathers to fix from having been a little misaligned after the battle. "Well deserved, Apollo."
Felt silly talking to the pokeémon when there were things like sacrificing them. Not that he was about to do that no thank you.

Once again, Fairytale had set out to gain healing from a Shrine. There is an eerie feel to this Shrine, a sharp contrast to the other one. They think they preferred it here, actually.
Inhale. Exhale. Feel the energy return to them as they stood here at the Precipice Shrine. Just… exist for a moment. End up feeling small, insignificant, and knowing it was better that way.
Yes, they quite liked it here. Their pokemon gradually came to wakefulness, much to their suppressed relief. They knew that these two weren’t real beings, just virtual, but Fairytale still found themself foolishly fond of the two.
Time to head out a fight a Deerling. Here’s to not-hoping it would go better than last time.

While this Shrine was a fair distance from the Deerling they were facing, Fairytale didn’t care. They were past the point of caring about anything except victory over the Deerling. What did it matter which Shrine they went to for healing, really?
At least going here reminded them of their sheer tininess in the face of an uncaring universe. Simultaneously relaxing and awful. Just the way they liked it.
Fairytale took some soothing breathes as they basked in insignificance until they heard their team regaining consciousness. Back to the Deerling with the lot of them, it seemed.
They dared not hope the fight would be done soon.

They absolutely needed this walk to the Shrine. It was calming. It helped Fairytale regain their equilibrium. It made them feel less like they were on the verge on insanity.
Unfortunately, the walk was over too soon. They existed in the Precipice Shrine, embracing the feeling of nothingness that would never embrace them back and feeling comforted by it.
Soon enough, their pokemon regained consciousness. They had Tall Grass HP again. They were tempted not to leave, to bask in this feeling longer, but they had made a decision to catch Deerling and they were so close. Round Four would be the final round. This was not a hope. This was a certainty.

Another day, another shrine. Though Alice wasn't in dire need of it like she'd been during her last few visits, she felt it would still be a good idea to have her team's HP fully restored before they set off on their next adventure. And this was a shrine she'd never visited before... she'd hate to trek all the way back to one of the other shrines if her Pokémon fainted in the Misty Timberland.
Out of the three, it was absolutely the most terrifying. It was a hole, a giant hole full of nothingness. Alice couldn't bring herself to get any closer to the edge than she already was. Why risk it? She hated sheer drops like that. What if someone were to fall in? She shivered, ready to get on her way as the shrine restored health to her Pokémon.

"Still asleep, huh?"
Things have been rather crazy as of late, yet some things remain the same. The precipice is still the precipice, the darkness of its abyss never fades, and all around it, wisps of fog cloud the view of the forest.
No Pokémon will accompany Tuesday today. She sits by the pit’s edge, feet dangling into the shrine as if lacking any fear of falling. It calls to her. The call of the abyss. The thought that perhaps she should jump to see what lies at the bottom of this seemingly bottomless pit. What’s the worst that could happen? It’s a game, she’d probably just white out and end up in the Everworld…
And yet, perhaps if only for now, the call of the abyss is not answered.
She makes an offering much different from herself.
Two Magikarp splash wildly as they fall, one striped and one purple scales. Tuesday’s hands clap together, and when looking towards the darkness, a whisper is carried to its depths by the Timberland’s gelid breeze:
”Feast, O Abyss.”
COMMON AND UNCOMMON MAGIKARP have been SACRIFICED TO THE PRECIPICE SHRINE
