'Follow the beaten path,' his guiding will-o-wisp had told him. Lucky, brought to the dull gleam of the unwelcoming iron doors, had come on his eccentric Delphox's word. According to his Delphox, 'The Will' cried out from this shop for anyone to claim 'this grand, churning scream in the ether'. Will'o had always been strange, even among Lucky's existing roster of Pokémon. Nothing was visibly wrong with him, and Lucky had yet to find the Delphox ever experience a bug during their long partnership. Like all of his other Pokémon, it wasn't as if he was particularly vocal, either. The mysteries came, however, from when Will'o brought advice at the strangest and seemingly unnecessary of times. The last time he had seriously spoken to Lucky of 'The Will' had been on Beta Island, a time that had led the trainer to ancient temples and Corrupted sea-monsters. Lucky had assumed that it was just a quirky personality that had been patched out when the game came out in full swing. It seems that this had not been the case, for Will'o had gone crazy once again. Perhaps, he mused, this was a personality that could only be seen in Psychic typed Pokémon? Lucky only had one, after all. The thought fell flat upon the presentation stage of Lucky's mind, for an ugly thought always came back to nag at his deep desire to stop thinking about it. The nagging thought told him the same thing rime and time again; If it were so easy to explain, why did none of the NPCs talk to you about 'The Will'? Surely Ash, of all people, should have known. The smooth, well-oiled swing of the iron door cut through Lucky's worries with all the demanding presence of any Gothic architecture. Mr. Guy had a shop to attend at this fine witching hour, it seemed. Given what lined the shelves, it seemed to be almost like Bethany's- "Do you come to... make a deal?" The nameplate overhead the titled Bethany answered Lucky's suspicions faster than any word could have. He could not help but muse that she was starkly beautiful, like porcelain with eyes of stained glass. Perhaps one day, Lucky could have a daughter like that. He didn't answer immediately, intent on first finding whatever it is that his Delphox had surely been talking about. Given that one of the Pokéballs was ever-so-slightly glitched into a shelf, Lucky had a pretty good guess as to which one he had been looking for. "Ah, so that's the one... Ng, let me just-gh--sorry, lass, just a moment--!" It took a good minute and several more apologies to un-clip the Pokéball from the terrain. Objects weren't usually so stubborn to be moved when clipping, but it appeared that this ball just had a mean streak to it. After wrenching the labeled Nincada's ball free, he finally checked the price underneath it and inwardly cringed. Mean streak, indeed. It took some time for Lucky to get all of his offerings onto Bethany's table. He hadn't quite enough throwaways to give off, but he wanted to pick this Pokémon up while he still had the opportunity. While his Klingklang had served him well, Lucky had always been ready to put it aside when the time came. Ten Pokéballs were lined neatly on the table, a stark contrast to the lonely single ball in his palm. When all was said and done, he departed with the strange new Pokémon in his team-but not before pausing at the doorway to give a last look back at those who stayed behind. "Ay Bethany, you take good care of those ones, alright? I'll be checking by later to see that you do by with 'em well. See you." A few more looks back were all it took to give Lucky the courage to leave. Trading: Seedot, Glaceon, Phantump, Two Magikarp, Ducklett, Meowth (Galarian), Drilbur, Vulpix, Glameow

She had intended to come to Bethany's Boudoir much sooner, but her plans had been derailed. The raid is to be blamed. It would have been easier to catch Pokémon as fodder, never interact with them, and trade them away for what she had been eyeing. Domino had purposely tried her best to avoid bonding with them.
She had failed.
Clad in fashionable clothes and oh so stylish trailblazer kicks, Domino steps into the shop looking as cool as can be. A rainbow of pastel colours shimmers in her hair, perhaps serving as distraction from the redness that still marks her eyes. Hilda hopes so, at least. Sometimes hyper realism in games isn't the best of things. She sniffs once before approaching the counter.
"Give me one of those." is all she says, nodding towards the Wimpod display. Accordingly, three pokéballs are placed on the counter as exchange, but she does not open them. Magnemite, Gothita, and Yanma. Domino had said her goodbyes already.

Gothic Bethany offers Domino an ebony tissue from a frilly box beside the counter. "Their spirits are going to a better place," she promises, taking the three former companions from the counter.
"A hardened shell," she says, picking up Yanma's Pokeball. "Armor for your body, to keep at bay the teeth and claws of those who lurk in the murk." The ball disappears into one of Gothic Bethany's voluminous black sleeves.
"Steel. Cold and true." Magnemite's ball disappears.
"A keen spirit," she muses, cradling the final sacrifice. "Attuned with those around you. You can hear their calls, can't you? Drawing you forth."
And any psychic or aura reader nearby would clearly feel the very moment that the bonds between trainer and Pokémon pull taught and are snapped. The last of the three is spirited away, the spheres now out of sight. But not out of mind.
The candlelight dims, and Gothic Bethany extends her pale hands, grasping Domino's. "The Depths!" she cries, and suddenly a sphere of ice drops into Domino's hands. Her palms clutch at the frigid sphere. The 'hello' to replace her 'goodbye's.
Wimpod has been added to Domino's Box!

Manish hesitantly made his way into the new trade shop. Sure, he spent a time or two in the original Bethany’s Bargains, but this was technically new. New Bethany, new trades, same cats that he needed to send somewhere. “Hello? Hi, I uh, I have a um, a lot of uh, cats? To unload? I mean, they uh, they are good and all! Maybe. Probably? Maybe. I don’t really uh, really use cats at all, other than Cereal, so I don’t know if they are actually good. But someone will probably like them! Maybe? Yeah, probably. Anyway, I was looking at what you have to trade and uh, and that um, Nincada? Can I trade all of these for that? And not just because I’m trying to offload a lot of cats onto you, some of them aren't even cats! I mean, okay, so that’s like, half the reason. But, still. I have all these to trade?” Okay he was definitely rambling too much. Manish dug through his pockets till he had a pile of occupied pokemon to offer. "Creatures of the night," murmurs Gothic Bethany, collecting your feline offering and brushing away the residual pocket lint. "Plague-bearers, the pawns of witches and vampires both. Marvelous, truly."
She walks into a coffin, closing the lid behind her. After a short time it swings open again and she returns from the dark passage beyond, a new capsule cradled delicately in her moon-white hands.
"The parasite. The twin-soul."
Just as she's about to offer it to Manish, Gothic Bethany's eyes roll back in her head and her form grows rigid. Her dark lips part, and a strange voice emerges as if from far away, though it seems not to match the movements of her mouth.
"When the lake begins to dry, a flint will guide the way. Dark and vine will obscure the moon from view and the fate of the Clans will depend on the flint. Four will become one." The woman trembles, Nincada's Pokeball still clutched between her fingers. "FOUR WILL BECOME ONE-"
Gothic Bethany's head snaps back, then she abruptly seems to seize control of her body again. "Oh my," she whispers hoarsely. "I seem to have forgotten myself. Faced with all those cats, something just... came over me. Bear these words well, traveler."
The Pokeball enters Manish's possession, wrapped in the cold comfort of prophecy.
NINCADA has been added to manish's box.

“Yep.”
The trade shop owner’s a strange one. He raises a brow at her, reminded of the eccentric fashion that dots the main cities, and her mannerisms echo a character archetype that he simply does not care for.
He’s not here to judge, though. “Take this—thing.” The Blipbug he received from his foray in the Tree of Worms hadn’t done anything. Hadn’t seen the light of day since, but he’s not keeping it. His team already has a shitload of work to do to be any use, and he’s not chancing a bug that looks this weak.
He looks over the little coffins and the pokemon offered, and there’s only the Mudbray that's available for his offer. “I’ll take the horse.” That one could be useful. A pack mule, if it can’t fight.

Gothic Bethany looks up at you with wide, blackened eyes. Perhaps they are black from lack of sleep. Perhaps the sockets were deepened when she bartered a piece of her soul in an eldritch ritual. Maybe her mascara has just smudged.
"A traveler from Yggdrasil," she says, and you would be forgiven to think that she is talking to you. But no, she is addressing the Blipbug. "I can sense the latent quintessence that flows through its form."
She takes the Pokeball from you, holding it as if it is a priceless jewel. "Bug Pokemon are endlessly fascinating. They peak early, yet in doing so remind us that life is nothing but a series of stages. Primary among them is change."
Gothic Bethany puts the ball away below the counter, and hands you the glossy black orb that houses your new Mudbray. "Did you know that if you were to peer inside a Metapod, you would not find some half-Caterpie half-Butterfree hybrid, but instead simply a mush of cells?" She hands over the ball. Her lace sleeve brushes against your arm.
"Bug Pokemon remind us that we cannot change who we are without first destroying who we once were."
She pauses.
"I'm not sure what horses teach us, exactly. Humility, perhaps?"

"Hey there Bethany!" Big Bee said, reaching out to touch one of the inky black dreamcatchers that hung from the ceiling. The delicate string weave was intricately adorned with black feathers, sparking rubies, and a large, plastic spider. "Love the décor in this place. Reminds me of a girlfriend I had in college!"
The black, spiderweb lace, the slick velvet, an abundance of strange scents and cold metals. Had the guys in the design department been stalking his old Facebook photos when they'd put this place together?
"Now. I've heard from some people around town that you're the one to see for some slick deals in Pokemon. And I have here a Magikarp that I could very much part with. Do you happen to have any Ground types on you? Or should I go fish?" He grinned, putting the ball on the counter, only to peer through the glass and spot a ball with a dark, gothic label: Mudbray.
"Yes! The horse! That's Ground type, right?" He checked his UI Pokedex. "Okay. One horse please. Does it have a name?"

"You who live among the wretched..." intoned Gothic Bethany where she stood behind the counter, facing away from Big Bee as he entered. She held a single candle in her hands, eyes closed, praying to some invisible gothic god. She reacts to the trade request absentmindedly, like a housewife answering the phone while trying to vacuum and wrangle a child at the same time. "Deliver us from the Light..."
Mudbray is released into Big Bee's custody, exchanged for the Magikarp. "A horse can have many names," she says, turning luminous eyes on the bandana-wearing trainer. "Eclipse. Hades. Loki. Dark Knight. Silhouette. Lucifer. Voldemort. Darkest Secret..."
The candle sputters out, leaving only the moonlight to illuminate the boudoir.
"You will cross paths with a stranger soon," says Gothic Bethany. "With hair like night, and eyes like fire. 'Ware the One..."

The decor made her grin as she stepped inside. The throaty, darkly ominous greeting only had her amusement growing. Well, if she’d ever not fit in anywhere, it was here.
“Hello,” she replied to the greeting, doing her best to bite back her amusement, but unfortunately mostly failing. She didn’t mean to come across as disrespectful, but the drama of this whole store and shopkeeper was just quite the sight! She loved it! “I do, yes.”
Stepping up to the counter and eyeing the… oh my god, literal coffins of Pokeballs, she let out an odd choking sound, desperately trying not to laugh. “Uh, I was hoping to offer this Basculin for a Mudbray.” She offered out the Pokeball in question hopefully.

Killian had stumbled upon this place by chance before; his eyes wide with anxiety and curiosity since the shop really looked like a haunted, abandoned little thing. A gothic shop. The candlelight flickered inside, casting shadows that danced on the walls and the cabinets and the spherical Poke Balls. This must be part of the game setting, since it just seemed odd that everything here felt like it wasn't touched, even if he was sure there were already some players going in and out of this shop some days back. He pursed his lips and walked further in, Magikarp's Poke Ball in hand.
❝Bethany, I've come to bargain.❞ saying the same joke to two NPCs felt awkward, and he immediately regretted saying it after it left his lips. ❝No, sorry, I mean I've come to trade, yes.❞ uneasily, he would move to the counter and place the Poke Ball on the wooden surface, trying not to stare too long at any single memorabilia or decoration that could spook him.
❝Trading this koi-like Magikarp for a Mudbray, please.❞ goodbye, sweet Magikarp -- even if he had only known him for that one split second when he pulled it out of the water, it will be missed.

Oh now this was an aesthetic if Odile ever saw one. Black satin heaven.
Carefully moving about, it reminded her of those really gothic churches she had seen around in sites like Pinterest and the like. There was probably some goth going insane over all of this, loving the mysterious and haunting atmosphere. Odile wasn't really one of them, but she can appreciate it all the same, even if she was more of a pastel girl herself.
"Hey there." She greeted, pearly white teeth peeking out of a smile as she nodded, coming closer. "A deal you say? Yeah, something like that. I see you got some Pokeballs over there; maybe we can agree to a trade or sorts?" She plucked the red-and-white Pokeball from her hip, holding it out on her hand for Bethany to take if she would so like. "This Patrat isn't a bad Pokemon at all, but I don't think I'm the trainer for him. Maybe you can find him a better home? In return for a Mudbray? Promise you they'll be well taken care of."
Was that really an even trade? Maybe not, but if they both agreed to it, then perhaps it was.
Odile trades Patrat for Mudbray.

After returning from the nearby Shrine to get his Pokémon back in top shape, Josh did a field test to see if he actually wanted to keep and evolve Mazirek. As a Yanmega, it would make an incredibly nimble flying steed. Standing in an alley, he made sure no one was around before ordering the attack. "Mazirek, AIR CUTTER!" he commanded the Yanma while grabbing onto its back.
The two remained planted to the ground as the large insect's wings buzzed. The vibration was more powerful than Josh expected, rocking him and making his cry sound like he was yelling through an industrial fan. The shaking would only be harder after evolution. No way; it was just too much. He was getting a much more steady steed.
Making his way to BETHANY'S BOUDOIR, he browsed the Pokémon the shop had on offer. Nincada caught his eye, but even after evolution, the Pokémon would be simply too small. As fun as it would be to zip around on a Ninjask, the size and strength just weren't there, and it would run into the same vibration problem the Yanmega would. There was one other that caught his eye, though: a Mudbray.
Responding to Bethany's greeting, Josh replied, "Yes. I have this Yanma for you. I need a reliable steed, such as that Mudbray, to travel the world faster." Provided the terms were acceptable, he would have a reliable, and tough, partner to travel across the world. It wouldn't be a lot faster than walking, but it would still be a help until he got something with a really high movement speed.
Josh trades Yanma ( capture pending) for Mudbray.

Momo approached the gothic shopkeeper. Her eyes did not stray to the velvet drapery or the way there seemed to be two different moons reflected in the stained glass. One was full, the other little more than a silver crescent.
...But she wasn't here to think about impossible astronomy. Momo was here to collect the adorable Pokémon Concierge mascot, Psyduck.
She'd lost interest in UNOVR recently, or perhaps it was better to say she had decided it was better to stick to her training in real life for now. She had gained little from fighting Pokemon in this world, as she had originally hoped, and daily club activities combined with upcoming entrance exams left her with almost no free time to herself. But all that changed when she saw clips of Psyduck on YouTube. The shy and adorable yellow duck-creature opened a yearning in her heart she couldn't quite explain, and so she found herself in Briarbane at Gothix Bethany's boudoir.
Eyes fixed on the gothic woman, steady, Momo extended a pair of Pokeballs. "They are a Burmy and a Galarian Meowth," she said, English a bit rusty after so long away from the game. She was proud she'd remembered the plurals and articles. "Please take care of them."

Josh didn't remember BETHANY's BOUDOIR being so creepy. As he waited in line, he sent Altair reports on the three Magikarp he was about to trade in. The first, a Black Mask, Uncommon one; the second, a Pink Dappled, Common one; the third, a Gold Calico, Rare one. Included was a message to him.
DIRECT MESSAGE> Figured I'd share the results of the fishing trip before I pawn all these Magikarp off to Bethany in Briarbane. Maybe next time we see one another, you'll see me in the saddle of a Ninjask.
Once his name was called, Josh walked up to the desk, still a little uncomfortable inside the gothic-looking trading post. He set ten Poké Balls on the desk. "Afternoon, Bethany. I'd like to trade these ten for a Nincada. It's got a Huge Seal waiting for me. As much as I'd like to raise them myself, I just don't have the time to care for them all. Make sure they get to good homes."
Trading the following for a Ninjask: - Duraludon - Nidoran (M) - Pidove - Fidough - Snubbull - Magikarp (Black Mask) - Magikarp (Pink Dappled) - Magikarp (Gold Calico) - Caterpie - Buzzwole
