Every day was cloudy and windy, and every day was peppered with countless lightning strikes that lit up the horizon like a bug lantern on a balmy july evening. Every day was peppered with the percussive rumble of thunder as if the neighbors were launching fireworks again, and every day Orion patrolled up and down the steppes. Professor Ashe had a plan up her sleeve, and she needed to enlist the help of local pokemon to do it. While the idea of catching mon to help the professor build a bullet train seemed a little...distasteful at first, the fighter had done some reading and heard that wild mon used battles to decide what trainers to go with. Something about clashing ideals and whatnot, it was a long article and he wasn't going to parrot the whole fucking thing. What mattered was the Professor had been cooking up a plan, but now that the corruption barrier was down? Well, that plan needed to pick up the pace a little bit. The more and more people went and poked the bear that was Corruption, the more and more he was willing to bet that something was about to go sideways. The last thing anyone needed was another Briarbeast raid, or maybe they wanted one, but this world didn't need one. So, it was off to the races as he patrolled, ready to help do his part in building a brighter future.

It used to be the border to the corruption zone, and before all of the metal spires had ascended into the sky, it had been a line of spires filled with electricity. He wasn't quite sure how electricity was used to fend off the corruption, but he figured it had something to do with the sheer high voltage being charged into the ground and the the ozone that filled the air. This was strictly conjecture, but it wasn't like he had samples of corruption to taze and see what happened. To his knowledge the only thing that "dealt" with corruption was the G.A.Y beam that Cygnus had managed to craft, charged up with elements and electricity the lazer had helped revive moltres and bring one hell of an asswhoopin down on the briarbeast. It'd also zapped the corruption right the fuck out of him, a blight brought upon him by getting elbow deep into the fight. Yet as he sat upon his Blitzel, Zeus, he could only imagine how much voltage it would take to push an endless wave of corruption back if it chose to cascade down upon the steppes again, and if the playerbase of the NA server was strong enough to smash it back. Yet he did not truly have time to contemplate all of that, sooner or later some random mon was going to jump out looking to catch some hands. You know, business as usual.

The whole thing perplexed him highly. "Hey Zeus" Orion asked, cracking his neck. "Yes?" The surly zebra quipped back. "Why did you attack me and the gang way back when?" "Because you were in my territory." The fighter paused, rubbing his chin. "Yeah but like, why? Where was your turf? How did you distinguish it?" He let the question hand in the air for a moment, thinking that it would take the mon a minute to comprise an answer, but much to his surprise he didn't. "Anywhere I find my hooves is my territory by divine right. You have proven yourself a capable fighter and leader, so I lend you the privlidge of riding atop me and commanding me, but just know that-" "Ah, you're power bottoming, got it." "I AM NOT-" "OOOGA BOOGA" A drillbur howled popping out of the dirt. "GET OUT OF MY TERRITORY."

"Your territory?" The Drillbur looked at the zebra and it's rider, flailing his arms about in a manner that might perhaps be construed as menacing. If you were a five year old. "God damn this is sad to watch..." Orion quipped, popping off the saddle. "You wanna let off some steam?" "Can I truly even conjure steam fighting a creature as pitiful as this?" "I mean, you can definitely try that's for sure. The type match up doesn't suit you." "The type what? Foolish master, observe." Once Orion was off and free of the saddle, the Zebra charged forward on a wheeling charge and SMASHED it's front hooves into the chest of the Drillbur, who to his credit realized something was up but wasn't faster than a charging horse. "OOOF"

The drillbur howled back, taking a few swings at the Zebra, planting a few glancing hits upon the mon. "BULLY ME OFF MY TURF! STOMP AROUND ON TOP OF MY HOUSE! KICK ME IN THE CHEST! CALL ME GAY!" "What?" The Zebra asked looking confused. "I made no such comments." "YOU IMPLIED IT!" "I'LL IMPLY MY FOOT UP YOUR ASS IF YOU KEEP THIS UP!" Zeus howled, electicity crackling around its mane as he reared up to stomp once again onto the mole, lightning arcing around him as he went for the kill shot. Yet as he glanced down he realized he'd been bamboozled, and the mole had taken to beneath the dirt in a tunnel. "RUN YOU CRAVEN!"

What should have been an easy fight, a proverbial goomba stomp, was turning into more of a fight than it cared to deal with, and one glance over to his trainer who was smirking about the whole thing was almost enough to send him over the edge. His vision was so blinded with rage he didn't even see the next blow coming as the Drillbur rocketed out of the ground with extreme velocity and socked him in the jaw. "TAKE THAT YOU SCOUNDREL!" The mole howled. "YOU WRETCHED CREATURE." Zeus would let out another burst of electricity that would glance nigh ineffectually across the moles hide. "GET FUCKED!" The mole howled back, taking a stance and putting up his dukes. "PERHAPS IT WOULD BE BEST IF YOU GOT THE FUCK OUT OF HERE." "I WILL ROAST YOUR CORPSE AND LEAVE IT FOR THE YANMA!"

"Your impatience does not qualify as my problem." The mon growled. "Hey, I'm just saying that fight could have been cleaner if you weren't so headstrong." Orion chided, shaking his head. "We shouldn't have bothered fighting the damn thing." "And yet he had you all riled up." The horse let out another grunt and the fighter simply chuckled. It'd taken a while to find an encounter worth fighting, but now? It was on. The Zebra took off full tilt, and Orion rolled off the back of the saddle, landing on his feet deftly. Once free'd to go apeshit the Blitzle shot like the wind across the plains and SLAMMED into the Klink going full tilt, sparks flying off it's body. "WOO!" Orion howled, "That's how you start a fight right there buddy!" The metalic gears practically cumpled under the weight of the impact, and were sent flying backwards and kicking up a massive cloud of dust, obscurring the fight from the fighter's eyes.

The flash illuminated their sillouettes for but a moment before all was quiet and dark aside from the rumbling echoes of the blow. When the dust settled, Blitzle was left to loom over the steaming body of a KO'd Klink. Orion could smell his smugness from upwind. Walking forward, the fighter would raise up a hand and heft a ball at the passed out mon. "Well, someone sure fucking overcompensated." "I wasn't about to let it happen a second time." Once the defeated mon was safely in it's new home, Orion would run a hand along the Zebra's head, scratching him behind the ears. "Good job bud." The zebra growled, but an errant flick of it's tail betrayed it's enjoyment of the praise. "This was standard work." "Then I expect better on the next one."
