Since our Beta launch we've been hard at work adding, tweaking, and fixing. Patch 0.2 is all about quality of life improvements and getting the site running as smooth as Silcoon. You can check it out here!

Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

She was starting to break in resolve to not go into the grass, but now, well, that resolve was gone. Just as Athysh went to take a single step into the grass, she was stopped. ~~Quacxee~~ was in front of her, and another person who just happened to be walking into the tall grass at the same time she was. She was given a guide for catching pokemon. "Didn't know this was needed, but alright. Can we go on now?" Athysh didn't bother to ask the person beside her if they wanted to join her. She was just lumping them in, since this was apparently a tutorial quest now. Once the ~~Quacxee~~ was gone, she finally looked at the person beside her. "So, are we going to wait for an NPC to explain this to us, or do you want to just charge in and learn from hands-on experience?" Frankly, she was for the last option, but it was also dependent on the person whom she just threw a party invitation to.

She managed to finish three tutorials, yet something was missing. She learned how to move her character, got her Running Shoes from Mom, and battled her rival. So what was missing? Of course, she was too focused on her thoughts that she unknowingly stepped into a tall grass along with the young woman nearby. When she looked up, she saw a strange hybrid of a Farfetch'd and a Porygon as it started to explain how to catch a Pokemon. Yep, that's what was missing in a Pokemon game. A catching tutorial! After that, she turned to Athysh when she asked her on charging in without listening to the NPC. "It's better than explaining, so let's go for it!" Aero said before she accepted her party invitation. "My name is Aero. What about you?" It's not because she can't read her name above her head. She's still in middle school, okay?! How can she pronounce Athysh?!

Well, at least this game had no chance of harming someone in the real world. Aero had a good point, learning hands on was much better than attempting to listen to an NPC explain it. It was bad enough having to do that in the normal games, at least this one let them do things the hands on way as well. "Alright, I'll head in first then," there was a pause as Aero asked Athysh her name. It made her wonder if Aero was having a hard time trying to pronounce the name? It would be understandable, Athysh did play a lot of Diablo games before joining UNOVR. "I'm Athysh," she said her name slowly, in an attempt to help Aero understand how to pronounce the game name that she had chosen. That was just before she walked into the tall grass, and brought Artemis, her Rowlet, out of her pokeball. ENTERING THE TALL GRASS! When a Wild PKMN appears, reply using the ~~ATTACK~~ button to weaken it! But watch out— it might fight back! If your PKMN faints, you must go to the closest SHRINE to restore your PKMN. When the Wild PKMN's HP reaches 10% or below, up to 2 players may spend 25 BYTES to catch it here. You may also simply ~~retreat~~ to end the encounter. Retreating succeeds automatically.

Athish... Athysh, got it!" Aero happily repeated. "Nice to meet you, Athysh!" At least she's a fast learner. She also learned to give others some space for them to do something if they wanted. Besides, this was her first time in a VRMMO and she wanted to see what wild Pokemon looked like when they come out. Of course, just in case, she took out her trusty Fuecoco as he happily cried to see his trainer and a new friend. "Okay, we're ready!" She declared. "Time to face our first Pokemon!"
