Two Patrat were at rest in the Tower of Cats. These two had just found each other, and found comfort in the safety and security of the hole they had found. This hole was certainly safe from all of those pesky humans. They made sure to get the message out to all of the other Patrat that this here was the final bastion against the human scum. Truly it was their only hope to survive against the coming [storm]. They'd even just gotten a third visitor as of now. They seemed to be quite nervous to be here, asking questions such as "What are you two?" and "How did you sound so much like a Patrat?" and "Why are you getting closer? Get away from me!" Thank goodness for Big Bee , Manish’s panic over swearing was adding into his already panicked existential crisis and he could feel what was probably going to turn into a real life anxiety attack start to build. But Big Bee’s logic was able to stop him in his tracks. “A World Heritage site? Oh. Oh! Yeah, oh, um yeah that makes a lot of sense as to why it’s, so uh, old and stuff.” He caught sight of a Patrat running upstairs and he shook his fist at it. “Hey, squatting here isn’t legal because it is a protected site!” Manish was feeling very proud of himself for standing up for the protection and preservation of an important landmark when he felt something tug down on his legs. He looked down to see that his pants had indeed been pulled down by Allotta Bambooga , leaving him standing in his Magikarp covered boxers. It was like his brain shut down. He stared in mild horror, eyes going between Allotta and the pants around his ankles. “Oh” he said quietly to himself before his etiquette training kicked in. Manish tried to simultaneously pull up his pants while also offering a hand to Allotta to help her up. “Oh geeze, do you need help, I just gotta pull, I mean, no, offering help is more important, I just, uh, oh geeze, there’s a lot. It’s uh, I just gotta…” Manish struggled with both tasks, causing him to over balance and start to fall. The nightmare continued as Manish realized he was going to land directly on Allotta. With speed and dexterity that he had never shown before, Manish’s hand shot out to either side of Allotta and he caught himself before landing on her. “Uh, I don’t. Um. Hi. Okay, yeah, no, okay, uh.” Manish pushed himself up and in a daze rolled over to pull his pants back up and then stood. “I’m just, I gotta, it was, uh, haha wow, um.” Stress mushrooms sprouted behind every step that Manish took as he slowly backed away and went up the stairs. The rest area was a blessing. He hoped to just take advantage of it and maybe go die in embarrassment in a corner somewhere. He wandered over to the vending machines to see if he could hide next to one, but the cunning Patrat were waiting for this moment. Several of them poked their heads out from behind the machine and started to push the machine over. Manish let out a scream and fell over backwards. “Ryan! Ryan do something! Solar beam!” Manish shrieked. Luckily, his very very large Venusaur had just managed to wedge himself up the stairs and into the new room. Ryan braced himself and charged up the beam. It was like things moved in slow motion. Manish screaming in fear, a blinding light shooting from Ryan’s giant flower, Patrat cackling. Time caught back up and the beam shot just over Manish, blasting the vending machine and Patrat through the wall and off into the distance. After it was over there was a large smoking hole left in the side of the Cat Tower. Finn watches manish's Venusaur, mouth agape.
"Dude, that thing is savage. Love it."
His own Pokemon are far less large and impressive, but he has a feeling Caiman might get there someday soon. Already the croc was bigger than his others. Size wasn't everything, though; Lynch was still no more than a kitten, but the Litten can be seen taking on a Patrat with a FURY of SWIPES that could put a larger foe to shame. Fire dances off her paws as she springs clear of a counter-attack, landing with a smug chirp.
Finn leans close to the smoking hole left in the side of the tower, disappointed by a rather generic view. Guess it was too much to demand that a game in beta adapt so quickly to having its dungeons obliterated by the Pokémon scaling them, huh?
He goes to sit down, but finds a pile of Patrat droppings in the chair and sighs.

There was a monster within this simple tower of otherwise cowardly rats. Swift as the wind and stronger than anyone, he was a force to be reckoned with and none would stand in his path. Even now, at least three Pokémon have been claimed by his lightning quick assault-and today, another would fall. The bird before him was large, yes, but that was all he was! The Decidueye seemed lanky like a twig, and fragile like a pile of leaves. This would be easy.
And indeed it was-One strike was all it took! Using his secret move Extreme Speed, the patrat destroyed this foolish-Oh, it was a ghost type? And now it was looking at him... Thinking quickly, the Legendary Named Pokemon 'John Patrat the Quick' used a quick Bite and threw the big bird to the ground. He had lost his breath from such exertion, but at least he was safe.
He... was safe, right..? Why was the ominous bird beginning to rise again? What kind of zombie was this?! He should've been downed, but he looked fine!
Unfortunately for this poor Patrat, Omen knew Roost. Now the Patrat was alone and caught out, standing beneath the gaze of a relentless predator. It was over for him.

"Aw, man!" Yggy kicked one of the drink machines, frustrated. The drop slot was clogged with Patrat and he'd already lost one perfectly good BYTE down the coin slot. "What a ripoff! I was OK with Patrat before, but like, this is getting annoying."Beside him, Tigger dabbed experimentally with one paw in the drink slot, trying to hook out a Patrat with his claws. <That's putting it one way,> the Torracat said mildly, managing to fish the Patrat's fluffy white tail out of the slot. It waved furiously and the fire-type pounced, trying to pin it between his paws and teeth. "Ew, are you licking it?" Yggy asked, making a grossed-out face. He turned his back on his Pokemon and went to go check out the foosball machine. "...Anyone wanna play? Aw man, but the ball's gone."He began looking for the ball, but couldn't find it anywhere. He had a sneaking suspicion the Patrats had something to do with it. Hadn't he seen a mini soccer ball in one of those rube-golberg machines? "This sucks!"Torracat used Lick (Ghost)!

Scrambling up from where Allotta had pantsed manish, Allotta rubbed her face and grumbled. Man, that sucked! Thankfully, it was nothing she hadn't seen before so Manish's nudity wasn't something that bothered her. If anything, she giggled before taking his hand and hauling herself up (possibly also knocking him more off balance when she did so).
"Aw, you're cute!" She grinned and couldn't help but give Manish a good natured slap on the back before going off elsewhere. It should be noted that she is very strong for her petite stature.
A new challenge popped up in her face. She tapped it away without reading and grabbed for a loose bottle of juice sitting innocently on the counter.
It instantly started to leak all over her when she picked it up. The Patrat who was hiding behind it also didn't look that happy.
"Aw... it looks like I peed myself!" She dropped the battle and frowned at her soaked skirt. At least she smelled moderately like peaches and apples, now. Sighing, she grabbed for a pokeball and called out her Litten... who proceeded to chase the Patrat around with Ember until it died.

Manish was trying to subtly push Ryan over to stand in front of the giant hole they caused. Hopefully no one would look at it too closely. He wasn’t sure what the punishment was for blowing a hole in a World Heritage Site, but he was pretty sure it was bad. With Ryan doing a pretty reasonable job of hiding the hole with his giant toad body Manish decided it was time for a real break. There were a few beds off to the side and Manish tried to lay down in one, however he immediately sank through it and landed on the floor. Apparently the Patrat took the entire mattress and support frame and just covered what was left with a blanket to make it look like there was something there to lay on. Manish was wrapped up in a blanket and stared up at the ceiling, accepting his fate of laying on the floor instead of a nice bed. There was a desperate jingling from his pocket and he managed to free a single arm to dig around and pull out what was making the noise. <Holy heck that was claustrophobic!>“Julia?” He said in wonder at the Klefki, “what are you doing in there?” <You put me in there! You just scooped me up and put me in your pocket!.>“Oh um, geeze, oh I’m really uh, I’m really sorry?” <Sorry? Oh you’re sorry? Do you know how much pocket lint got in my mouth?> Julia was on a tear, jingling and voice increasing in volume. <Gee, well I guess that makes it all better. A sorry totally makes up for what was essentially kidnapping!>Manish tried to sit up, but just tangled himself up more in the blanket. “No, Julia, I don’t uh, please I just um…” <It’s just rude is what it is!>Thinking that the fight was a good time to try to attack, a lone Patrat crawled up the bedframe and went to jump at Julia, however he didn’t anticipate how loud her jangling really was. The keys grated on each other as she berated Manish. The Patrat went to take a step back, but the frame creaked. <What!?> Julia yelled as she flipped around to face the Patrat. Her keys scraped against each other and an unintentional Metal Sound was released. The Patrat shook with the noise and clutched at its ears. He stumbled around until he fell off the bed frame, knocking his head on the metal frame on his way down. JULIA used METAL SOUND <Huh. You know what? That actually made me feel better.> Julia turned back to Manish and gave a smile. <Okay, you’re forgiven.>“I don’t…uh, okay. Between the blasts of chlorophyll rich light, the pantsing, the leaking bottles of juice, and the screech of metal, the break room was a mess. He tried to find a chair, but felt a strange compulsion to check the ones around the central table first. They were each missing a leg.
"Man, this is just like the last startup I worked in," Big Be said, heading for the snack bowl, which was likely to be just bananas and stale trail mix. Instead, he found tiny cheese muffins. "Ooo! Now that's what I'm talking about!" Big Bee grabbed one, setting off the mouse trap that had been hiding underneath. "Ah! Dammit!"
Two Patrat laughed at him from behind the bowl.
"Taka!"
Taka was busy setting off the rest of the traps and feasting on the muffins. "Whatever. Uh, Cofagrigus!" An ornate coffin appeared next to Big Bee, a permanent grin carved into its golden surface. "Grab those rats!"
The coffin cracked open, and hands of ghostly flame grasped at the Patrat. They screeched, jumping off the table and narrowly avoiding the attack.
The pair scrabbled across the World Heritage Floor, as massive, flaming hands slammed down behind them, missing them by a whisker each time. They jumped out of the hole in the wall blasted by manish's Ryan, and the counter in Big Bee's UI ticked up. "Yes. Got 'em!" he said, popping the mini muffin in his mouth.

Lucky's adventure through the tower had brought him across a most peculiar sight. In the middle of the tower's homely height was housed another tower in sight. This tiny tower lie to the side of the room, so as to considerately not be intrusive to the room's feng-shui. The tower was made of strange things one would think a tower's bricks to be made of in a dream, making Lucky question whether he was dreaming at the moment. This was a silly question, as he had been dreaming the whole time he'd been playing UNOVR.
The tower was just about the height from which one could touch the roof of the room from the tippy-top, should one choose to stretch--And there was also one other thing strange about it. A patrat was inside, glaring down at the interlopers of the tower.
This tower is indomitable! It is immune to physical force. There's no way you could destroy it!
"What a load of..." Lucky mused to himself as he wondered what sort of joke this was supposed to be about. To test this sturdiness, he let loose Ammit from the shackles of his Pokeball to do terrible things to the tower. Yet as the Cofagrigus slammed into the tower on Lucky's command, there really was no damage!
Maybe it was invincible..?
The coffin creaked and groaned besides his trainer, as if to tell him that you're doing it all wrong. Haven't you forgotten something important?
"What could I have forgotten? A health bar? I don't see one on that guy."
You truly are a fool, Master. Allow me to demonstrate.
In the hands of Ammit was shaped the darkness of night itself. Lucky started to catch on to what his Pokémon meant by their computer calculated move selection. The tower was immune to Physical force! Lucky still had access to Special moves-All was not lost! He cheered on his Pokemon as he threw out the vilest of dark power available to him..!
Ammit used Shadow Ball! It doesn't affect the enemy Patrat...
"You..."
I hadn't expected this. Perhaps he really is invincible--
"Get back in your ball, you clown. Lay off the pail next time." The Cofagrigus was swiftly replaced by a Pokemon actually capable of damaging the tower's Normal typing. At that time, the invincible tower would fall to the gradual erosion of his Seedot, and the mighty power of Absorb, Mega Drain and Nature Power that he held within his... acorn. At the defeat of the fiftieth Patrat, a small eruption of confetti fills the air around the players. A short, triumphant chime plays, though something tells you that it wasn't the whole victory tune, only the first half.
At the top of the stairs you find a LOCKED DOOR. Nothing can breach the ancient wood, and when you try to push it open a prompt appears in your UI.
YOU CAN NOT YET ACCESS THIS AREA
The intrepid band is forced to retreat, as they can go no further. Once Asper opens, someone has the bright idea to return to the tower of cats. Time has passed, you have all grown as trainers, and the door to the staircase upwards yields to your touch. As you ascend the half-height stairs up into a room with an outrageously low ceiling, a prompt appears.
Tower of Cats Floor 5: The theme is HALF.
Two groups of Watchog are hard at work, training. They're split into two teams, red and white, and have been making the most of their brief respite. They knew you would return, and are much stronger following the several-month timeskip.
They've armed themselves properly now, too, with the warrior Watchogs wielding half-moon shields and hand-and-a-half swords. One of them takes a final bite at a training dummy, biting it clean in half. Super Fang. Looks like they've got new moves too.
If the previous floor was a rest room, this floor is a thunderdome, where only half of those who enter will reach the exit.
You have defeated 50 Patrat and unlocked GALARIAN MEOWTH (C)!

Furrlicity had not bothered with the last floor and had not cared about the secret door. He figured he would just pop in when he saw something cool. Actually, with all the excitement going on with the release of Asper, he would be surprised if anyone else even noticed or cared. The Tower of Cats had been running for months now, even before he started playing. It would keep going for months more at this rate!
As he idly glanced over the announcement, though, he paused at the unveiling of the new prize.
Skitty.
His eyes widened and Furrlicity felt himself having an experience. It was similar to the feeling when he had pack bonded with the Mini C0D13. He needed this cat. It was perfect. Perfect half moon eyes. Perfect pink coat. Perfect little ears. Perfect.
Furrlicity hadn't used his Swablu since she had hatched. A black pill-box hat sat on her head, a decoration she had hatched with. It seemed like, so far, she enjoyed using his hair as a makeshift nest. Cute.
After he opened the mysterious and secret door, he left it half open before stepping inside. First one here. Ten pairs of eyes turned to Furrlicity and he just stared back.
"You little half-pint bitches don't scare me"
Even with that said, the newly evolved Watchog started to raise a racket. The thunder-dome was begging for blood and it looked like Furrlicity had just stepped up to be the first victim.
Furrlicity just rolled his eyes and checked the requirements for this round. Only... half the screen showed up. Okay. Weird. But it was pretty easy. Reaching up, he tapped on the Swablu. She whined before letting out a Disarming Voice. The Watchog that was trying to square up with Furrlicity flung it's sword at him. It only made it halfway across the field before clattering to the ground. The valiant final efforts before it poofed into a little cloud.
"Disgusting. Little half-wits."

It had been a long time since Manish thought about the Cat Tower. Long enough that he was hoping his pokemon had all forgotten about it as well, but he wasn’t quite that lucky. After all, Cereal was a pretty good reminder that there were occasionally good things in the tower. Manish was pretty sure Cereal would be the only cat he let near him, but still. At the goading of his pokemon he returned to the tower and up to the new floor where he immediately had to crouch down. He was already tall enough that most doorways gave him issues, a half height ceiling was not his friend. “Oh geeze,” he groaned in his awkward crouch. “Oh geeze!” he yelled slightly more panicked at seeing his foes. Those weren’t the Patrat from before. No, these were new. And angry looking. And armed. “Uh, uh help?” Manish said, flailing at his pokeballs until someone appeared. <I am Manish’s…>“Oh no…”<Hey! At least let me finish! So rude.> Narrator bared his teeth at Manish before also noticing the Watchogs. <Woah. These guys look tough.>“I know! Can you do a uh, something?”<Chosen one, future savior of all pokemon, can you be a little more specific?>“Don’t call me that. And uh, use Fury Swipes?”Narrator took off towards the nearest foe, <I am Manish’s crumbling dignity!> “Hey!” But Narrator wasn’t listening. He swiped at a Watchog, the first hit catching a shield, the second blocked the sword, but the third, fourth, and fifth all struck home, taking out the Watchog. <No one is a match for me, for I am on the righteous path. Someday you will all thank me for guiding the chosen one towards his destiny.>“My uh, my dignity isn’t um, uh, crumbling! "The what now?"
To be entirely honest, a place called The Tower of Cats doesn’t sound particularly intimidating. Mars’ own cats have cat towers IRL, and sure, they may act like those are the palaces to which they’re co-rule kings, but they admittedly also act that way about just about every single room at his place.
This is intriguing, though.
Is it a tower full of cat pokémon or something?
When she had looked into it, all she had learned was that apparently this so-called ‘Tower of Cats’ gives pretty decent rewards, and being as enterprising as Tuesday is (read: greedy), of course she has to check it out!
What she finds, however, is that for a tower, this place is tiny, and to her disappointment, it’s not full of cats but of… prairie dogs? Something along those lines. They’re armed with shields and swords, and look ready for a fight, so it’s a good thing she had had the foresight of having her Cryogonal by her side.
"Ew. You’re one of the ugliest pokémon I’ve seen. I don’t like your eyes."
She declares, and just as she does, it’s with a gesture that she commands Ancile to attack. Complying, the Cryogonal spins rapidly, releasing an ICE BEAM that freezes the first Watchog to jump forward.
"Yeah! Take that!"

"Ah, shit. Where C0D13 when you need him?"
He was starting to miss the glitching mess of pixels, even if it had tried its hardest to delete him. Cause, see, he was pretty sure that he was dealing with a bug. WATC didn't sound like any Pokemon he's heard of, and HOG was a weird name for something that wasn't a pig.
Plus, they were - well, it looked, quite frankly, that one Pokemon had been split in HALF.
Both halves advance toward him with seemingly no regard for his bewilderment, throwing HALF-baked cookies at him like shuriken. It's better than the Home Alone floor, but a great deal more visually horrific.
A move that never misses? He has to Google it.
"Just, uh, BIDE your time, I guess."
Caiman seems to understand. The Croconaw waits, jaws dripping with saliva, until they get close.
They don't stand a chance.

The half-height room is no problem for Sarah Lee. She's shorter than most, and barely has to duck down, scampering across the floor with her trail of fire Pokemon following after her. Watchog scurried too and fro, fighting off the hoard of now overpowered trainers. None of the poor Pokemon stood a chance.
She laughed as manish's Narrator tore through the opposing infantry. Even swords and shields were no match for the trainers! "Seems we came in overprepared," Sarah said, sending her Pokemon racing to their pre-planned places with a casual wave. "Either that or these rats are half-assing it."
Finnegan Fjord's Croconaw's jaws snapped shut with a sound like a starting pistol, sending the remaining Watchog scrambling for their hiding holes. It was exactly what Sarah had been waiting for. "There! and there!" Sarah shouted, pointing at little half-closed doors set into the holes chewed in the walls walls. "Set fire to the entry points. Block off their escapes!"
Ron and Focus split up, covering the exits with bursts of Ember. Soon the doors were burned half to ash, leaving only one way to retreat!
The rats raced towards their final exit, opening it to find the space fully filled with the chunky body of Chell. The pig grinned. "Looks like time for a roast."
