Oh. This was not the response Manish was expecting. Well, the failing to escape he was expecting. But Orion helping him? The Orion Cayge? Manish was fairly certain that made them friends. Like, at least 73% sure they were friends now. Afterall, how can you not be friends with someone after you shove weird seeds into their wounds and are also soul bound to them because of a constellation coming to life? That created a real bond. Possibly a trauma bond, but still a real bond. After that, how could Manish just…accept his death? No. He had to do something. Or at least try, he owed Orion that much. Plus, he still really needed to get Rick Gastly and whatever was in the pokeball out of the void. “Rick…I uh, I need a star of yours. I’m sorry, we don’t have to, it’s just, distracting The Starcatcher with them might be our best shot at um, well, you know, getting out of here?” <Come off it, Manish. You know I was never gonna let you down.> Rick Gastly chuckled and turned so Manish could easily pluck a star from his gaseous cloud. Once again taking the star gave a stomach turning schlorp and Manish couldn’t help but grimace. Oh yeah, that was going to haunt him for the rest of his life. But first he needed to make sure there was a rest of his life to have. He tossed the star behind him and went back to pushing Rick Gastly towards the exit, this time with a little more pep in his metaphorical step. She had been playing this dungeon safe. That was the best way to do this after all. That was what she had learned from the first Chanda Mama dungeon. Slow and steady won the race. And there had been high payouts from that as well. And now she was back at the final leg of the race. Sword in hand and extra stars to spare in order to escape this place. She was still avoiding the other players who happened to have blood pouring out of them. She wasn't going to risk her chance at escaping. Especially not when she had a living sword to have a leg up.
And especially when there were still prizes that could be grabbed. Her eyes landed on the Pokeballs that had fallen to the ground and were rolling about. She wanted one. Badly. She knew that the black disc was probably an important reward but she couldn't help but be a little bit on the greedy side. The inky blackness that camouflaged her well into the shifting darkness meant she could approach quickly, scooping up one of the Pokeballs in order for her to get a quick reward. Quietly she whispered, remembering that loud noises drew the attention of the beast. "Let's see what you're made of Honedge." Stars. Probably. But it was also a living weapon that whipped around her, stabbing into the darkness at anything that happened to approach.
"Let's go Bill."
He was also made of stars, meaning that he would potentially attract the attention of the star eating creature. But he had also helped her out of here and she wasn't about to leave him to be devoured. So they moved, quietly and quickly towards the exit. Cautiously following behind the uncompleted creature. Turning back towards the others she dropped her two remaining stars for manish to take since it seemed like he struggled with simple tasks.

Okay that was, that was possibly going worse than his first attempt and he wasn’t even trying to fight with Rick Gastly! Manish felt like he was in a dream, every movement towards the wedge-winged constellation was met with the stars moving further and further away from him, while The Starcatcher was growing closer and closer. That nice moment with Orion was going to be wasted, Rick Gastly was going to be eaten, whatever was in the pokeball he snagged was doomed, he was dragging them all down. Even with realistic pain turned off Manish was sure the muscles were starting to ache. Rick was flickering in and out, he couldn’t stand to lose many more stars. At what point did he give up? As if Rick Gastly could read his mind, the Gastly turned to face Manish and give Inspiring Speech Number Three. <Whatever dumb thing you’re thinking, stop it. I am never going to run around and desert you. Now buck up, looks like your boy Orion isn’t the only one helping you out.> Manish looked past Rick Gastly to see that he was right; Diva had tossed her extra stars towards him. Okay. Okay he could do this. Probably. Maybe? Probably. Manish took a deep breath and threw one of Diva’s spare stars back towards The Starcatcher and once again tried to summon up all his strength. Manish wasn’t ready to be somebody that everyone used to know. He wasn’t ready to be cut off, he just wanted to act like this never happened. Stars burned bright. Allotta was determined to burn brighter.
The eye in her palm sizzled as it burned her skin.
(Later, when this event was over and they had all parted ways, she would hold it close and examine. Morbid curiosity would compel her to smell it. There would be a kind of vague relief when it just smelled of salt and smoke. While the game was very realistic and pulled from the mind, this one time it kept the sickly sweet scent of burned human flesh at bay. While his earlier song might have been a story of triumphs, the sad truth was that Kekoe couldn't get to everyone in time.)
In the present, she grabs for her star partner's hand. The gross eyeball is shoved in her cleavage, poking out just enough like some grotesque third eye peering from within.
"Mama Chanda! See you text time! Come up with some super sublime rhymes!"
The wings that had burst from Taillow Swift's back spread wide, the celebirdy grasping onto Allotta as they rose into the air.
But something nearby caught her eye.
So, much like a fool, Allotta lurched forward to grasp for the treasure- even if it risked her ride out losing grip.

The ball dances past her fingertips as Taillow loses her grip.
Allotta finds herself falling. She shrieks, loud. It's cut short by an arm stabbing clean through her gut. It doesn't hurt, it doesn't feel like anything.
The skin isn't pierced but Taillow Swift's celestial arm keeps her afloat. Barely. Her heart beats. A star, one of the two she had eaten, falls from the blue woman's hand and into the darkness below.
It gives them a moment. Just a moment. To try and get a better grip for escape.

Bohemian Rhapsyduck
Kath stood before them all. With a microphone in her hand. "Is this the real life?" She sang. "Or is this just a fantasy?
I'm Dancing on Ice,
in a virtual reality."
She raised her head. "Open your eyes.
Look up to the skies and see!
I'm just a poor girl, I need no sympathy-
Easy come! Easy go!
Pokemon! Catch 'em all!
Dancing with my PSY Duck! He looks like a mallard to me…
To me."
A single tear dropped from Kath's eye as the piano track played. "Grookey…
I just killed a duck…
Pulled the stars out of his head, ripped his heart out
Now he's fucked.
Dancing… on ice had just begun!
But now I've gone and spun it all away…
PSY Duck! Oooooh!
Didn't mean to make you die,
I hope your stars come out this time tomorrow,
Carry on… carry on… as if you are a mallard."
Kath made eye contact with all present. The emotion on her face… it was worthy of an oscar. It was appropriate for ancient greek theatre. It was beautiful. "Too bad… Didn't get the jeep.
Took the stars out of his spine,
it seemed worth it at the time.
Goodbye, everybody. I've got to go!
I can't dance without a partner on the ice…
GROOKEY!
OOOO-OOOH!
I don't wanna cry!
But also fuck you I don't care at all!"
The guitars wailed with mournful sorrow. They reached their crescendo, and then! The beat changed. Kath started to tap her foot. She clicked her fingers. The groove was starting. "I see a little silhouetto of a duck-
Mr Mime! Mr Mime! Will you do the Oricorio!? PIKACHU AND PAWMI
VERY VERY FRIGHTNING
ME!"
Kath stood surrounded by a choir of Grookey, Bulby, and Treecko; shadowy visages that swirled around and sung back to her in a hellish chorus. " Solgaleo! ( Solgaleo) Solgaleo! ( Solgaleo) Solgaleo Bulbasaur - POKEMON GO-O-O-O I'm just a poor girl no body loves me!
She's just a poor girl, very smelly and ugly
Spare her her life from this monstrosity!
Pokemon, catch 'em all, will you let me go?
MELOETTA! NO! WE WILL NOT LET YOU GO
(Let her go!)
MELOETTA NO! WE WILL NOT LET YOU GO!
(Let me go!)
WILL NOT LET YOU GO
( Let me go!) NEVER LET YOU GO
(L et me go!) NEVER LET YOU GO NO, no NO no NO no NO!
Mamimikyu! ( Mamimikyu) Mamimikyu! ( Mamimikyu) Mamimikyu let me go-
Beelzebug has a pokeball aside for me… for mee!!!
FOR MEEEEEEE!!!!!!"
Kath banged her head back and forth against the ground, cracking her nose and pissing blood, whipping her hair back and forth as the SICK GUITAR SOLO echoed into the night sky. "So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye!?
So you think you can love me and leave me to die?!
OHHHHH PSY DUCK!
Can't do this to me PSY DUCK!
Just gotta get out, just gotta get right out of here!"
The guitar solo ended, and the song reached its end. "They're not really mallards…
Anyone can see.
They're not really mallards…
They're not really mallards…
to me…"
Kath bowed. her performance was over. Then she poured ink over herself and made a run for it. jq_D4W3W1-12 -3 (bleeding heavily) -3 (stole the blood star) +1 dagger +1 ink 1-12

The evil dark star pokemon wasted NO time in grabbing Kath by the ankle and dragging her back into the abyss.
"NO!" Kath shouted. "I'M SORRY, PSY DUCK!"
She threw one of her spare stars out into the void, and for a moment the dark star was distracted.
She was still covered in ink, and still had her dagger for close encounters, what the hell was going on? Why couldn't she escape? She wiped the blood out of her eyes and considered.
Perhaps… just perhaps…
Could it be the bright, luminiscent Blood Star she'd picked up? Was THAT what the evil dark void pokemon wanted?
She shook her head.
Nah.
And she tried again.

Kath tried not to listen as the evil dark star pokemon grabbed her again and pulled her, bleeding, back into the abyssal void of constellations and death.
"Bblrulguglhgl," she said, vomiting blood, and she threw her FINAL STAR into the darkness.
Once more, the monster was distracted. But for the last time.
"Alright," said Kath. "I don't even know what this thing is," she looked at the Blood Star. "And frankly, I'm upset that I killed PSY Duck to get it."
She looked around.
There was no one listening.
"Fuck it," she said. "Worth."
And she tried again, with the same modifiers.

"Just like every gameshow ever." The disfigured Sir Meltan John wearily sighs, shaking his steel head in disapproval. "The contestants never win the fancy new car." "Right?" Tuesday exclaims, hands on her hips while a mismatched gaze closely follows the chaos that ensues around them. "Oh well, Stellantis is behind the times, Chris M is a dick, and Jeeps are bad PR. Teslas are what's in these days. Gotta be environmentally friendly." And that, my friends, is why Tuesday had tried to go for 6 instead of 7. "Anyway, Let's blow this joint. Though... I have given too much to the Precipice not to take something back with me, no?"Let's be honest, Tuesday being Tuesday, she sure as hell isn't down for leaving any place emptyhanded, Precipice or not. Although, speaking of... How dare Chanda Mama sully her favourite place in all of Asper? Maybe Tuesday should call for the aid of the spirits of all the Pokémon she has sacrificed to this endless abyss. Or not. She gets to work real fast. With Sir Meltan John by her side and yet alone. First, a bandana is retrieved from her inventory and wrapped around the wound on her arm (aren't you proud, orioncayge?), because while Alchemists may be IMMUNE TO POISON, catgirls still bleed just like anyone else. Then, once sure that the pesky little wound won't leave a trail of blood behind her ( pain is subjective, you've been through worse, this papercut sure isn't going to stop you from getting what you want), she skates back towards the wheel, once again avoiding the actual trail of blood just in case. There's spheres, dark and tempting. Of course she gives into the greed. Prize retrieved, a dagger is thrown towards the approaching beast, taking advantage of the distraction to quickly attempt to head up and out of the pit. bSmlQ53b1-12 -1 BLEEDING -2 LOOT +1 GOREBYSS INK +1 HONEDGE DAGGER 1-12

Well, shit. That hadn't worked, huh? Obviously the problem is that she hadn't taken enough loot. Time to turn around and grab another one of those weird pokéballs. And, where to go from there? Rinse and repeat, baby. Tighten the bandana, throw the dagger, and this time... this time grab your fucking spear. Tuesday isn't big on relying on others, not even on anthropomorphized Pokémon meant to be one's subconscious representation of musicians. All she needs is herself, right? Right?!The spear is tossed in the air. "Alexa."There, it freezes, stuck in place as if this weren't in complete defiance of physics. With one last glare in the direction of the beast, the Alchemist plucks a star, tossing it into the darkness before beginning to pull herself up and onto the immovable spear. Up and up. Will she make it? Will she fall? Let's find out! Kajj8pxk1d12 -1 BLEEDING -2 LOOT -2 LOOT +1 GOREBYSS INK +1 HONEDGE DAGGER 1-12

Well, that sure as hell didn't work, huh? Rinse and repeat, version 2.0 Tuesday's definitely got this. She's sure of it. All she needs is to make use of all the tools at her disposal. What other tools does she have at her disposal? The Immovable Spear, Meltan John and all of his stars, and then... "Oh. Of course. Fishing Rod. Keggling"Time to put a childhood of watching MacGyver to good use. Stand on the spear that will absolutely not move, throw the dagger to buy time, then attach the Keggling to the end of the line (no Kegglings were harmed in the making of this escape plan). Years of fishing lead to a good stance, and casting the line towards the surface, Tuesday awaits for the Keggling to secure it before calling her spear back. Another star is thrown and she takes her chances. SVPjy5ij1d12 -1 BLEEDING -2 LOOT -2 LOOT +1 GOREBYSS INK +1 HONEDGE DAGGER 1d12

The Hibernal Heart beat in her greedy hands, its cold exterior numbing the pain of her broken finger. Her two plates orbited her like wheels of day and night, reflecting glimpses of her face back at her. Her eyes shone like supernovas. The Starcatch was coming. Fate had never treated her particularly well. She wasn't lucky. She wasn't skilled. She was bold, brash, and hyperconfident; she never pulled punches, she never looked back. No matter how many times she lost, she laughed behind her hand and treated it as a win. No matter how foolish she looked, she found a way to be smug about it later. Morgana had not sliced Celine Dionyx down from tail to ears so she could just hurl her new bounty into the void. But neither did she balk at destiny. Game Show Morgana was gone, and Did You Expect This, Bergamot was back. "You heard the Jeep Dealer. We have our lives to fight for," she said, tossing down one of her plates to form an impromptu surfboard. "Celine, jets on. Turn that starlight up to 100."The disembodied face clamped on to the Eclipse Disc and the stars in its eyes flared like jet boosters. Twin beams escaped her hollow sockets, firing off into the darkness. "I've seen enough movies to know popping the back of a raft makes it go faster," Bergamot said, and drove the Honedge Dagger into the back of the disc. r0xo7lly1d12-1 (-3 Heavy Bleeding, +1 Dagger, +1 Ink) 1d12-1

It's coming, it's coming. The Starcatch is coming. The golden wheel splintered as something blacker than space tore through it with a thousand hands, releasing mysterious Pokeballs into the air. Bergamot barely tolerated the Pokemon she did have, so chose to ignore the capsules drifting from the unclaimed cache. "Oh, did I miss?" Her tone was innocent. She stabbed the back of the Eclipse Disc again and there was a flash of darkness ringed by light, as if she stood upon the moon's own shadow. She had to crouch to hold onto the front as it skittered through the void. Where am I going? There was no telling where was up, where was down, where was in or out. Everything was dark. There was no air, no exit hole. Even the radio from Chanda Mama's Jeep had faded-- Bergamot wished she'd listened more closely before it was too late. <Look. The wedge-winged creature,> said what was left of Celine Dionyx. One of the stars in her eye sockets had burned out from the sudden speed burst, twinkling away into stardust. One chance left. Morgana looked up. The wedge-wing soared above them, its wings spread, its tail a banner behind it. It was guiding them. Leading them out. "After that constellation!" Morgana cried, spurred on by sudden, vicious hope. Beneath her the Starcatch spread, tracking her blood with a thousand hands, chasing that streak of eclipse. Well, things could have definitely gone better.
A jagged plate was her only tangible reward in her hands before things began to devolve. Something moving down in the abyss. Something was devouring stars one by one, and they were next on its meal plan for the day.
Laguna had no desire to stand around and find out. Injected with the Gorebyss Ink, her body blending in with the darkness, she'd turn around to hear orioncayge calling out to her. "Hah!" She began, catching the bandana he tossed her way. She began to tie it around her limb to attempt to limit the blood flow as she called back. "Yeah, yeah, excuses! We'll fight properly some other time!"
Twirling about in the air, she turned to face her partner in all this. Gallade Gadot. Their stoic face remained calm, despite the obvious nerves Laguna could sense.
... Was that how she looked deep down? Confident on the surface, but oh so obviously nervous? Like a scared kid putting on a brave face?
"Gadot!" She called out, twisting around in the air to take their hand into her own. "Let's blow this popsicle stand!"
"Right. These popsicles sucked anyways." With a nod and a quiet laugh, the two began to attempt to rush out of the void they found themselves in as fast as they could, following the trail of the incomplete constellation that had gained the majority of her stars. That is until her plans were drastically altered in an instant.
A Pokeball floating in the void, just barely visible from the corner of her eye, almost unnoticed given its black and blue coloration.
"Keep going, don't wait for me."
"What is that supposed to-"
Before her partner could finish their question, Laguna had already pushed away. Dagger in one hand, the other arm outstretched reaching for the Pokemon. Rewards of a video games mockery of a gameshow or not, she had spent too much time with these Pokemon to abandon any one of them. They'd be safer in her arms than in the stomach of the Starcatcher.
Her arm stretched out, finally wrapping her fingers around the Pokeball. "Gotcha!" Laguna shouted in joy, turning around only to see a sight that made her heart drop. That same jagged, black shape from before, difficult to see and all the more terrifying for it, was cruising through the darkness.
Straight towards Gallade Gadot.
"Hey, Asshole!" Laguna suddenly shouted at the top of her lungs twirling her fancy flaming kicks around to try and gain their attention. And sure enough, a mass of darkness began to make towards her.
"Viens me chercher, connard." Laguna mumbled in French to herself, stabbing outwards the very moment something got within reach. Here was only hoping she didn't get in way over her head, as usual. Presuming nothing went wrong, she'd book it as soon as she could, eager to get out of there.

Alright, so it's looking like she'll actually have to use Sir Meltan John's stars after all, but hey, she had prepared for this, hadn't she? This is exactly why she hadn't used them on the wheel. "Alright, Meltan, I won't deny we had a good run, but hand them over. I told you I might need you this round." The catgirl tells the metallic star while holding onto her fishing rod, and looking up at her with his expressionless face, he extends one of his many limbs. The star is plucked. The limb melts and disappear into the darkness. The dagger is thrown, Tuesday climbs, and then throws the star as well. There is no hesitation or remorse in her gaze. nlhYy80n1-12 -1 BLEEDING -2 LOOT -2 LOOT +1 GOREBYSS INK +1 HONEDGE DAGGER 1-12
