King was back to heal. He should probably get his Tall Grass HP upgraded, but for now frequent visits would have to do. Expecting the predictable bloodthirsty nature of Sobek, he spoke up. "We're not here to fight Moltres this time either," He told the Totodile. Maybe one day he would. Today was not that day.
Today was a fishing day, and there was no chance in any reality, virtual or otherwise, that he was letting a fish defeat him. Especially not a Magikarp.
He pressed his hands to the bark of the tree.

This time around, King did not have to tell Sobek to focus on anything else. The reason why was simple, considering the Totodile was unconscious in his arms.
While the peacefulness of the pristine glade was undeniable, King much preferred the violence of a fight here in this game. He himself eyed the Moltres only briefly.
If they were ever going to consider fighting Moltres, they would have to defeat the Basculin first. It might take a few tries, but he was determined.
King pressed his hands against the bark of the tree.

Once again, King had to retreat with his unconscious starter.
As he pressed his hands to the bark of the tree, he wonders if perhaps he should ask for strength from Moltres via prayer. It would be wise.
But in this game, King makes no claim to be wise. He is determined to defeat this opponent with Sobek on their own merits. He knows he can do it, even if the battle stretches on. He believes in his partner. He believes in himself.
Plus, what's the fun in getting help with something like this? It would make the victory cheap.
No, King is going to catch this Basculin on his own or not at all, and the latter is not an option.

Sobek is yet again unconscious, but it is merely the process of winning that has brought the two here yet again. One will fall and fall again, but in the end they will rise victorious.
King glances with amusement at Moltres at a though, since it is rather like a phoenix, actually, if phoenixes were made of water not fire.
He presses his hands to the bark of the tree.

There is still a fight to return to, but King is mentally prepared to face this opponent once more.
Basculin is more kindred spirit with its battling nature than an enemy. King might have planned on a team of Magikarp, but he has no intention of letting this Basculin rot in his storage once he catches it.
Still, to catch it, he must be physically as well as mentally prepared. King presses his hands to the tree.

For once, Fairytale does not go to the Precipice Shrine. Instead, they go to the Noonlight Shrine. Memories of another time they had thought they had lost Padma, but that had not affected them as severely as this are attached to it as they stare up at the Ascended Moltres. The raid feels like a lifetime ago.
As they had walked here through the Birchwild Grove, they had kept expecting the corruption of Mistra to creep into the scenery as it had in the false image. And, it was false, they knew now. Padma was still her. They had lost her, but they still had good memories to cling to. And that was what she would have preferred them do, wasn't it?
That's what they usually told themself, at least. It was only beginning to feel like a statement they could accept as they approached the shrine.
As their hands pressed against the bark, intent on healing their pokemon, they were surprised that the undercurrent of pain they had simply accepted faded as well. When they glanced down at themself, they saw that their cuts had vanished.
Finally, they felt as if they were at last approaching being themself again.

Before their next fishing trip, Fairytale had decided it would be optimal to visit the Noonlight Shrine. It could not hurt to heal up, after all. While Magikarp usually were not a significant challenge, they still got a hit in here and there. And there were pokemon other than Magikarp, as the Corphish had proven.
They pressed their hands to the tree bark to heal. And then, Fairytale had intended to go on their way. But the had remembered a title that had come out very recently which had caught their eye.
Cleaning or tidying up shrines was one of the tasks for it, if they recalled correctly. Fairytale scanned the glade, searching for anything that was disturbing the pristine nature of the glade. In the end, they found some fallen leaves that were starting to show the wear of time. Picking those up, they went on their way, leaving the glade a bit more pristine than before.

“I think I’m getting the hang of it,” Saint says, quite pleased as he reclines on the stone propping up the shrine. “We’ve gotten a lot of fish, but I don’t think we’ve seen any of the rare ones yet. Do you want to try finding all the fish with me?” He’s taking it easy, but it’s nice to have little challenges.
Gumball grins wide, and in lieu of a verbal response, he smacks his flippers hard against the two palms Saint has outstretched. It’s enough that his trainer flinches.
“Ah, you’re getting pretty tough, aren’t you?” Saint sighs. Gumball’s strength has improved quite a bit from fending off their catches. Maybe he’ll evolve soon. “Okay, tough guy, how’s about holding back a bit while we’re playing patty-cake?”
Gumball nods vigorously, raising his flippers and having no intention of holding back. The patty-cake champion takes no prisoners.

Sarah knelt at the shrine. "I dedicate my last battle to you," she said. Her voice carried to where Moltres was resting in the branches, and whether she heard or not was unclear. The legendary barely stirred, and didn't even turn an eye to look down at her most devout deciple.
"It was a glorious clash of flames and talons. You would have been proud."
Sarah stood, and touched the bark of the Noonlight Shrine with her palm. The ground here was covered in fallen leaves, a perpetual Autumn blanket that crunched as she stepped around the tree.
She checked it for corruption, and then for feathers, noting an absence of both. She settled for picking up a few of the fallen twigs and taking them with her instead. They would surely provide a powerful shelter for some of the birds of the forest.

For once, Kaede was wide awake as they walked into the shrine. Mizumi still cradled her against his chest, softly kissing the top of her head. "Isn't this place beautiful?" His voice was soft as he brought her to the tree, sitting down with the little one in his lap. She chirped happily and started to wander toward the tree in hope of leaves to chew on, but was quickly swept back up with a playful boop to the nose. []"Behave, let's just relax and heal.. then we can get you more snacks, okay?" [/b][/blockquote]

A shrine was a shrine and that was that, there was nothing too special about any of them though thus far this one had proven to be Myne’s favourite to visit with it’s giant tree and whatever: it was fun, popular so she could see a few trainers here or there that might want to meet up at a later point some time. Even as she thought about it the child smiled, placing her pale hand against the tree and allowing hte Shrine’s healing properties to encase her and restore her HP.

Sitting at the base of the tree, Mizumi held Kaede in his lap, letting her sleep. He stroked her head slowly and started to gently hum. A soft tune that his sister used to sing when he was having a bad day. Of course, his singing wasn't nearly as good as hers.. but Kaede didn't seem to mind, nuzzling into Mizumi's thigh. His smile softened and he looked up at the large, beautiful tree. He wanted to climb the tree and look out from within the branches like he did as a child, but he pushed the thought aside - too disrespectful. "Sleep well, Kaede. I'll be here."

There was blood literally dripping from his neck. Honestly, he didn't expect the game to be that graphic, but he actually couldn't see the injury - he also didn't want to. It must've looked nasty. And there was no mirror to his trek to the Noonlight Shrine, which was the closest to the place he spawned from. With a realistic pain setting, he almost felt like he wanted to pass out a few times on the way, but thankfully the game gave him a sturdier body to work with, and he also didn't want to have to leave his avatar exposed and vulnerable.
Eventually, he made it. Rejoice! Pierce had been calmly walking alongside his limping trainer, not once asking to return to his Poke Ball. Why? He had no idea. He supposed he had kept him cooped up there for too long and he was now enjoying his freedom (and escaping the clutches that was Mistra. He half wondered if he should try it with him again, because he really didn't like that he spoke like that incompetent professor).
But he would figure that out later. The shrine looked like it had god rays from it. A savior. A blessing. He placed his hand on it and let out a deep sigh, waiting for it to heal him like it did his Pokemon, even if they didn't need it all that much at the moment. Was it placebo, or was the wound closing? He lingered but also let his body fall onto the bark, sliding down before he was leaning on it, resting his head. He groaned pitifully and let the memories of the second Mistra incident replay in his head. It, unfortunately, brought him nowhere closer to figuring out how to get rid of the damn parasite.

Noonlight was special to him.
The first shrine he visited, one where he bonded with Kitten. One where he had seen Tama relax, finally. A rich crimson field of helping Kitten learn how to hunt, aiding other trainers, and making new friends.
Shrines could be defiled by man, but not by nature. Fallen leaves atop rock gave home and life to insects and fungi, who in turn gave life to the plants they had been born from. A cycle, one he wished not to inturrupt.
But trainers walked a similar path, each time. And grass gave way to dirt, anything that could hope to grow trampled away. Verai didn't know too much about gardening, and looking it up online hadn't helped.
Get fertilizer. Put down sod. All things he... didn't much have access to here. But, hours and hours of searching later, he found his way to the Birchwild. He gathered stray leaves as he walked, mindful to not take too many from any one location.
There, before the shrine, he finally stopped, setting down his gathered supplies. "Ya'ath." Despite hearing no sound, and feeling no movement, he knew the swords to be there. "Fury cutter."
In a breath, leaves gave way to shreds, green-gold-red confetti, which Verai began meticulously laying down over the worn path, the dirt that stood out amongst the grasses.
With any luck, from them, grass could grow anew, and the cycle restart once more.

It's not the same as standing in the middle of an actual forest; it likely never will be, no matter how advanced technology gets. Yet, for Muin, there is comfort in being back here all the same — standing before the grand tree that is the Noonlight Shrine, in the silence of the Birchwild. Perhaps it's the familiar sights, scents, and sounds. Perhaps it's the solitude. Perhaps it's all of the above.
It has been a while since the last time he was here and the last few months have been nothing short of stressful, despite the good moments. So, honestly, he's glad to be back. As for where he's headed after this, though... well, he's not too sure how to feel about that.
