Codie zipped over to the shrine, his sharp features reflecting the setting sun.
There was no heat left in the once burning bush, but his lasers scanned it anyway. He buzzed happily to himself, cataloging the recent player visits.
After 0.2 seconds of processing, he folded in on himself and disappeared back into digital space.

The Shrine is dead.
But Furrlicity still drops to his knees and clasps his hands together. Black, claw tipped fingers tap an odd tune against the bark when his prayers are done.
He wishes he could return the life to it.

nothing feels real and yet why does the air taste so charred? was it all simply mind tricks in a game that felt more like real life than anything else he truly did.
vincent collected his pokemon and spent time in communion with the tree. he would win, he would get to where he needed to be and the more he invested himself in the game, the more content he could collect.
soon, he'd make his introduction on the web to vincent but it had to be perfect still and so vincent bided his time by collecting content to send to his video editor. he'd ensure it would be epic.

The tree is dead. (To him.) The life it had before is gone, moved elsewhere. For shame, for shame.
But Furrlicity is here with purpose. Even if this Shrine does not feel like His anymore, the Birchwild is still his domain. He will stalk the glade as his own for a time yet; until there are more pokemon to find and areas to explore.
There is one thing found here he does not want.
A Skwovet is dropped onto the roots of the Shrine.
"Seta!" He calls, obstinate, knowing the other will hear him. Wind whispers in answer. "Take this pokemon to your domain!"
Sacrifice this Skwovet to the Shrine?
He clicks 'Yes' without a second thought.

The Skwovet vanishes, pixels going elsewhere. It leaves his PC and the space is empty.
Unlike the space with Tiramisu. The outline of his Starter haunts him. Quickly, he closes the UI.
"Apple, will you come here?"
The Vulpix trots forward, side eyeing her Trainer.
< You're not doing that to me, right? > Something about it had wholly unnerved her.
"No. Stand here." He points to the roots of the tree, where he had placed the Skwovet before. The Vulpix gives him another unsure look before slowly moving to stand on the roots.
Furrlicity presses his hands together and dips his head in Prayer.
Soft words in his native tongue leave his lips, coiling in the air.
Transform your pokemon?
Again, the 'Yes' is clicked.

Ah, the Noonlight Shrine. The giant tree seemed to loom over the teen as she entered the area, the ancient bark seemingly glistening under the autumn light, cool air almost feeling comforting in a sense. Butterfly would lay a hand against the tree, a small smile lighting up her face. Caesar and her newest catch were still in their Pokeballs, and even though she wanted to let them out, to let her team members see this beautiful sight...for now, it was just her. Just her and the shrine, in a small, healing moment. She mutters a soft prayer, a 'thank you and well wishes' to whoever is watching this shrine, a hope to give a piece of good luck for whatever may face them.

Back to the shrine, mostly just passing through and placing a hand on the bark. These moments were just quiet. Just simple. Just for her. She really didn't mind it at all. A soft whisper for safe passage, and she was gone.

Valentine had not been expecting her nighttime walk around the settlement to lead to so much pain and exhaustion. That Purrloin she'd battled--that she'd caught, in the end--had really put up a fight! And the Noibat that was now hers had gotten some attacks in, too...
But she was here now, at the shrine, ready to be healed and continue her exploration another time, probably when it was lighter out. She could still use some more Pokemon, but healing the ones she had needed to be a priority at the moment.
Valentine knew, distantly, that some sort of big plot thing had happened at this shrine not too long ago, though she wasn't terribly sure of the specifics; she had just picked the closest shrine she could find without thinking about anything like that. But the shrine itself was working fine, right? Whatever lore had happened before she had started her adventure wouldn't impact any of that, would it?

Apparently, just before King had joined the game, there had been an event regarding this shrine. A raid of some kind? He was rather disappointed that he had missed it. Setting out to such a tremendous battle sounded like a good way to vent.
But, alas, he had missed it. So, King simply pressed his hands against the bark of this Shrine and hoped this would heal his Tall Grass HP. Sobek, though currently unfainted, wasn’t looking to be in the best of states. If they were going to catch a ghost or dark type they needed to be in the best condition possible.
The Totodile gave a happy squeak as he felt energy returning to him. King gave the Totodile a genuine smile.

After one of the most humiliating moments in Vincent's life, losing a battle to a pokemon who simply whittled them down with their big brain tactics, he knew he may have to take everything a little more seriously. He thought one thing, knew how usual games like this worked but these people (some of them at least) had decades more pokemon experience than he did and that truly showed himself ( see - tuesday's ass whooping ) that he may had been good but he wasn't great like some of these others.
wither a quick stop at the noonlight shrine after what had happened here, it still gave him a little bit of the creeps. but, he found the shrine itself and offered it a quick prayer for strength and wellness. he wasn't much of a religious man but he figured it couldn't hurt to at least engage with this portion of the game.

This go around, Sobek was very much fainted. King stubbornly pressed his hands against the fresh, clean bark of the tree of this Noonlight Shrine.
He'd heard that this shrine used to be warm, like the pokemon Moltres that had been hosted at this Shrine. But there was no heat to be felt within this tree. Disappointing, but not unexpected.
It was a shame he'd missed this shrine at the previous stage it was in, he decided. He thinks he would have liked it.

Once again, Sobek was fainted, but this time around there is no need to ponder what it might be like to feel the warmth within the tree. The success of finally finding a ghost type had lit a determined fire in King's heart.
Sobek stood up, shakily at first, and then at last he grinned toothily at King. King could tell the Totodile was equally as determined as he was.
King grinned back, showing off sharp canines. It was time to get back to fighting that Pumpkaboo.

Derek approaches the shrine with a sigh, giving the building a once over as he waits for the shrine to do it's magic and give him more tall grass HP so he can go wild pokémon hunting. As he waits, he's contemplating the people he's met. There are intense people like orioncayge, whose passion is as intimidating as it is admirable to Derek. Then there are people like Finnegan Fjord and Tuesday, who just like, oozed cool.
It made him, selfishly as is his nature, wonder what category he would fall under? Certainly he's not charming enough to be in the 'cute animal ears club' like Furrlicity Purrfection. No way.
He tells himself it doesn't matter, that he doesn't have to fit into a shape or category. He doesn't have to be a walking troupe... but at the same time, he so wants to be. In the end, he's just chasing a friendship that left him. Striving for something close to how it felt to be with that friend. Whole, complete.
The shrine's magic is over and Derek takes a sobering breath, disassociating from his thoughts by focusing on the task at hand.
"Here I come Sprigatito!"

Jinx had retreated to go to the shrine, to save herself before the worst happened.
She hadn't been expecting the wild Pokemon to get one last hit in before she could escape, or for that last hit to be enough to make Skipper faint.
"Uh... my Mudkip here fainted... and that's not okay... heal me up, please?"
After a brief thought about the shrine's lore, Jinx added, "And give me what strength you can spare, please. Given my track record against wild Pokemon so far, I clearly could use it."

"Just ignore it, bud" Pace said, carrying the shaking Sobble in his arms as it looked up at the nesting Moltres with all the saucer-eyed fear of some kind of fearful thing. He wasn't going to say out-loud to his starter that he planned to "sacrifice" it, whatever that meant. Did it get him extra money? Did he get him a secret achievement? Either way, he was gonna need more space in his box soon enough, and Matar just wasn't really cutting it. It felt a little bit like driving the car to nowhere, kicking the dog out and driving off, except it was a baby chameleon, and he had to get here using his legs like some kind of carless dweeb.
Pace pressed his hand against the ashy bark of the shrine's tree, feeling that normal healing feeling that felt kinda weird and warm and all those other vaguely-positive physical sensations. Pace held Matar out towards the tree, letting the little lizard place its own hand on the bark. "Alright, well... bye. Or... rest in peace, I think?" Did this mean Matar was dead? Either way, he was pixels and textures and it wasn't like he was actually real, but... still felt kinda shitty.
Just like that.
