Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

The sun was shining, she got some good grades at school, and she has some more free time in UNOVR today! What better way to celebrate was to catch her first Pokemon? She thought. She already has Coco the Fuecoco with her, but she knew she couldn't do anything else with only one Pokemon in her Party. So if anything, she would try to get through one of the routes to see if she could catch something unique. So she headed to Route 3 once she made her decision. Why Route 3? Well, it was honestly a random thought when she decided to catch some Pokemon and while the Briarbane Settlement has some wild Pokemon available there as well, she might as well go traditional first before wandering off there next. Coco was already back in his Poke Ball and she had some supplies ready with her in case of emergencies (though it cost a bit of her pocket in-game money from when she started the game), but she was now raring to go and find some Pokemon to have friends with! ENTERING THE TALL GRASS! When a Wild PKMN appears, reply using the ~~ATTACK~~ button to weaken it! But watch out— it might fight back! If your PKMN faints, you must go to the closest SHRINE to restore your PKMN. When the Wild PKMN's HP reaches 10% or below, up to 2 players may spend 25 BYTES to catch it here. You may also simply ~~retreat~~ to end the encounter. Retreating succeeds automatically. Aero

First off, she took out her Fuecoco from his Poke Ball to help her search and support. Then, she and her Pokemon started looking around the steppes and battling it so she could catch it. It was that easy! At least that was the idea. 15 minutes has passed since she started the search and so far, Aero sighed in dismay as she fell onto her backside. Her Fire-type partner walked up to her side and mindlessly stared at her, seemingly confused at her sudden decision to lie down so soon. "Man, I've been looking around here in this route and so far, nada!" She muttered. "Where are the wild Pokemon? We should have been encountering them by now." "Craw?" Her Fuecoco cried in confusion. Aero then patted his head and smiled. "Yeah, I understand. I can't give up so soon. It's too early and we're just getting started." Aero quickly stood up with her eyes perked up. "If we want to get a full party, then we have to pick up the pace!" She then turned to Fuecoco next. "Alright, Coco. Let's continue the search! We're not logging out until we catch a Pokemon!" "Craw!"

Looking around, there were no signs of bushes around the steppes, but there was lush grass around them. If she tried not to drop her guard down, then... "RUUFFF!!!" Aero gasped and shouted, "Heads down, Coco!" As soon as she shouted those words, Aero grabbed Coco and ducked down as soon as a gray blur almost grazed them. Then when they looked up, they gasped to see a small blue-gray bird with a white plume of ruffled feathers around its head and a red and white feather crest in the middle. One look at its name and Aero could recognize its name. "It's a Rufflet! I saw one back at Ultra Sun!" Aero recalled. "I even heard they were rare! How lucky we managed to encounter one as our first! Alright, it's decided! You're my second Pokemon! Let's go, Coco!" Her Fuecoco quickly jumped down from Aero's shoulder and glared at his first opponent as he waited for his trainer's first command. She would have caught it immediately if she wanted to, but not only the game didn't let her until she has to battle it, but she knew that it wouldn't be fun if she would catch it before battling it if she didn't right Poke Balls in hand. So, she knew her first move. "Use Ember!"

Long and beautiful, the Dragonair slowly slithers through the air, his wing-like ears barely moving. He's a calm Pokémon, cautious; one that watches their surroundings from up high with eyes of sapphires. <'T.'> A syllable spoken with a soft yawn. <'There's a trainer fighting a little bird.'> "Hmm... A Rufflet?" <'I guess so?'> "Alright, let's give them a little help." Languid as the Dragonair seems, his movements quicken once the instruction is given. Airborne, it approaches, charging its scales with the environment's electricity. "HEY! DUCK!" Tuesday calls out to Aero a moment before a THUNDER WAVE is released, striking the Rufflet with electricity.

They always like to play tough, don't they? Tuesday looks rather unimpressed by the bird's attempt to resist Orm's attack, and also by how annoyed it is afterwards. It may be strong and resilient, sure, but the sight of it facing the huge Dragonair is kind of hilarious. She says nothing, she simply watches, looking up at the sky and using a hand to block away the harsh sunlight... Just in time to see Orm release another thunder wave, this time circling around the Rufflet.

Tuesday tells the dragon, because as much as they could stay until the Ruflet faints, they do have work to do. Plus, there's that other fact: the one that is expressed when looking at Aero and giving her a smile. "Fighting wild pokémon is good practice. Good luck!" At that very moment, as if on cue with her words, an AQUA TAIL soundly smacks the small bird, sending it tumbling down onto the steppes' plains. Tuesday's smile does not fade. She gives the girl a playful salute and walks away, considering her work here to be done and over with. Her Dragonair follows overhead.

With one clean hit, Aero watched the small bird burned down by Coco's Ember! At least that was supposed to happen. Instead, the Rufflet only took small damage from her Fuecoco's Ember and to her shock, the Normal/Flying-type Pokemon managed to deal the little crocodile big damage that cost half of his HP bar. "Coco!" She shouted. This was bad. Right now, Fuecoco was her only Pokemon in her party and if he fainted, then it's instant game over for her first wild Pokemon battle! But just as she could say her prayers, another player showed up and much to her shock after ducking her head down, the older woman managed to knock the Rufflet's HP down a lot with her Dragonair. Just looking at her and her Pokemon battle was enough to make her jaw drop in awe. Of course, once the woman called her out. She quickly shook her head and quickly rushed to Coco's side next. "You heard the lady, Coco? Are you still up for one more attack?" "Craw..." She could tell how weak his voice was. Yet, Aero noticed Coco's eyes narrowed. She knew he wouldn't give up just yet. "Alright. Let's do this carefully now." Aero then turned to the Rufflet. "Coco, use Ember again!"

And this time, it dealt more damage than the last one. Aero was relieved and proud at the same time. While she was proud to see her Pokemon make a big comeback, she would credit it to her savior and her Dragonite for aiding her in a battle. She would definitely do something to return the favor soon. Though right now, focusing on capturing that Rufflet was her first priority right now and she was one step closer to chucking a Poke Ball at it. So all she needed next was a way to incapacitate it other than fire. "Nice job, Coco! Now use Round next!" Her fire crocodile then opened his jaw and started singing to the Rufflet.

One: Her Fuecoco was surprisingly a great singer. And two: His Round attack was more effective. Not super effective, but it dealt a lot more damage than the last 2 attacks. She didn't know why, but she knew this was one step closer to catching that pesky Rufflet! And it was all thanks to the woman and her Dragonair's help! And as much as she wanted to thank her for her help, she needed to take care of that Normal/Flying-type Pokemon first and fast! "Alright, Coco! Let's try to finish this before it gets away! Use Ember!" Her Fuecoco complied as he fired small embers of flame from his mouth to try hitting the Rufflet once more.

With Fuecoco now back in tip-top shape, it was time for payback, Aero thought. So once she found the wild Rufflet again, she glared at it and growled at it. "Alright, you little birdy! You overpower my partner the last time, but we're not going to underestimate you again!" She declared. "You ready for payback, Coco?" "Craw!" Her Fuecoco growled, ready to get back into the battle. She knew it was too soon for him to battle after being revived, but he also shared her sentiments and wanted to be part of taking revenge against the Rufflet. "Alright! Now use Round!"
