Walking... so much walking!
And yet, despite that, she didn't feel particularly exhausted. Is Andromeda in better shape than Beatrice? Or perhaps the reduced pain setting makes it so that even soreness and stiffness doesn't accumulate as rapidly? The player thought to herself that she would need to do some research outside of the game, on a multitude of topics for that matter... Where was she anyway?
"Cerulean Boulevard?" she muttered to herself. Oh, this is where she started out earlier that day... well, it didn't matter. Why? Because Andromeda made a realization; She had been so busy exploring she didn't even think to do the most important task associated with this new game she was playing... Meeting her pokemon! After a chance encounter with a strange woman at the trading outpost, Andromeda traded away the starter she was told 'was most compatible' with her, and instead received a pokemon that she got the privilege to choose. Magne... Magnemite that was right! What an odd name for a creature. Deciding, that she was ready to finally meet her first companion in this fantastical world, Andromeda found a spot off to the side of the road where she wouldn't get in the way of too many people walking.
"Alright... well, here goes something!" She exclaims, holding out the pokeball in front of her. . . Nothing happened. How does this thing wo- Oh, there's a button. Her face burned with embarrassment, quickly looking around to see if anyone had seen her newbie blunder. Probably, it wasn't a private space after all. "L-Let's try that again" she cleared her throat. "Come on out!" she once again exclaimed, pressing the button on the pokeball. She was shocked as the ball forced itself open in her hand, what to her was a small fireworks show of lights, as her pokemon was released from the ball. Her eyes were wide with excitement, the ball clicking shut in her hand as she raised herself to her tip toes, energy bounding inside of her small frame.
There before her was her new companion, and she was in love. A decently sized spherical ball of metal, one biiiiiiiig old eye that looked quizzically back at her situated right in the center. Protruding from it were three screws, all of which seemed to spin and move in or out randomly, and lastly two stereotypically shaped magnets on either side. It was... so artificial, yet so charming in its own way. Instinctively, Andromeda raised a hand up to try and pet it.
Meanwhile, during her intense appraisal of her new partner, the Magnemite itself had been doing its own check over who had just sent it out. Almost immediately, and to Andromeda's surprise, its scratchy voice came out. To her it sounded like an announcer over an old timey radio.
"Master? Well this is an interesting turn of events! Seems like the one who caught me has traded me away... haha!". Despite the situation, it seemed this Magnemite was rather indifferent and light hearted toward it. Andromeda on the other hand, felt a bit guilty for a brief moment, then shook her head.
"Y-Yes! I'm your new master! Eugh, I don't like that word, I'm your new FRIEND!" she beamed excitedly, holding her arms out to invite the pokemon into a hug while wearing a bright enthusiastic, yet toothy, smile.
"Oh ho ho! Seems we've got a lively one here! Alrighty, I'll be your friend then!" it declared, swiftly floating over to nuzzle under her chin. With this sign of affection, the eye looked up at Andromeda before speaking once more. "I need to at least know your name though! And I would love one of my own!"
"Oh. Of course!" Andromeda blinked, she had forgotten the most important part of an introduction. Taking step back, she placed a hand across her chest and struck a pose. "I'm Andromeda! We'll be working together from now on, I just hope you can keep up with me!" she declares with a grin. "As for you..." she looked it over with that same analytical appraisal. She got masculine vibes from the creature despite no obvious signs of biological sex. Perhaps it didn't have one? Regardless, she pondered and pondered this silver orb, like a wizard in a tower while his apprentice looked on in confusion from the doorway in the back. That's it! "Phillip! Your new name is going to be Phillip! Like the type of screws you have in you" she beamed. "Andromeda and Phillip!"
