[ti]spawn[/ti]Holy Rites

Miu swished around his legs, eyes bright as they watched. Little bits of ore were piling up, and they looked very wonderful to play with- And they were! Miu batted one around, following it as it skittered off into the grass. They hunkered low, eyes huge as they stalked their prey, tail lashing. All else was ignored- the birds overhead, the creatures underground, the mareep watching them concernedly. With a swift, decisive movement, they pounced, toppling over with the rock in paw.

Miu went hunting once more. They scoured the grasses, sniffing and smelling, finding only dirt and grass. They snorted, once, when a blade got up their nose, but otherwise it was.... boring. They snuffled around a little more, but got distracted with some grass on them, so they stopped to take a bath. Miu sat, licking at their paws, wholly focused on their task.

So much so that when a drilbur surfaced, looking for something to eat, Miu jolted with a shriek, racing back to Verai with their fur entirely fluffed out.

Verai carried Miu, walking familiar paths along the grass and stone. The cavern he went to was familiar- it was the one he'd gone to with Kazuki, the first time he'd needed to reforge his armor. A part of him was angry, for that- but if the armor could buckle under the strength of a single man, it wasn't doing him any good in the first place.

They stepped into the cave, nidoran skittering from the sudden intrusion. It was only once well inside that miu wiggled, and writhed down.

Verai frowned as he began laying out all the ore he'd gathered. He'd lost his armor during their last fight, so he was having to start from scratch- in the physical making of it. He felt like he knew more, now. Perhaps it was real, and perhaps it was game mechanics, but he felt he had a better handle on what was to be done.

"Keep an eye out, Miu," He called, but there was no one to listen. Miu was deeply and terribly asleep.

The music faded, and Verai took some breaths. Despite the much simpler actions this crafting took... it was still exertion, tiring. But, he had what he'd intended- armor, but small and thinner than his own was, which Verai held for a moment before going to Miu. Gently, he picked the kitten up, carefully strapping them into the armor, and just as gently set them back down. They could rest and dream a little longer.

Something in the music glitched- there was a screech, and the music hopped like a skipping vinyl. Verai gasped, thrown roughly out of the crafting game, ears flicking only to hear soft whirring. Another steel creature, the smaller one he'd offered to Ash before. Wasn't that fortunate for her.

"Miu!" He called, the kitten squeaking in response. "Fend him off!" Empowered by their new armor, Miu lunged.
