Hunt down something Wanted Ibis hadn't had a chance to visit the Briarbane settlement in any meaningful capacity just yet, but he sure as hell dug the vibe. Sure, he'd done this whole Ibis thing to get to feel a connection with his lost heritage, the Egypt that forever evaded him, the Arabic that was too loose on his tongue to not embarrass his family. But despite everything, he was a yee-haw American in his core, in his very soul.
So when Ibis got wind that Briarbane was all saloons and dusty roads and cowboy-isms, he had to drop everything he was doing and go immediately. Well, not exactly immediately, he had to look the part, too. Poncho, hat, sexy belt with a big buckle? Yes, yes and yes. Yee haw, motherfuckers.
As he enters the settlement accompanied by the hot wind and a tumbleweed, the first thing he notices is a woman - an NPC, notably - worriedly flustered by the side of the road, and with a ! above her head to note her potential sidequest.
"What seems to be the problem, ma'am?" Ibis musters in his some-kind-of-attempt at a southern accent, but the midwesternisms seep through nonetheless.
"Oh, sir, it's the Menace!" She trembles, holding a wanted poster in her hand. The picture on the poster is hastily drawn, a scribble of a figure that must have surely only been seen in shadows. Likely a pokemon, but the specific kind... Ibis had zero clue, and the woman didn't know either beyond calling it a menace. "It's been making mess everywhere... ripping up the wanted posters, sneaking into the saloon, stealing from the stores of good, hard-working people...!"
"Alright, alright..." Ibis raises his hands in gesture to settle the NPC down and take the poster from her hands. "A menace, huh? I'll hunt it down for you! Nothing a seasoned professional like me can't deal with..." And, he thought, I bet that Tuesday chick could help, too. She was pretty powerful, all things considered, and she had stock in some other part of the Settlement, anyway. If some rabid poké-menace was fucking up stores, she should know!
The message is sent as diligently as sending out the bat signal.
And so, the terrified NPC watched as the man who had taken her extremely terrifying request waited around for like ten minutes doing nothing while his friend showed up.

Tuesday is no southern belle. She doesn't look like one, she doesn't sound like one, and she sure as hell doesn't act like one. Even the T.E.A Shop she runs is in the more gothic side of the settlement, although that is more a matter of good real estate and aesthetics. But... Cowboys? Cowboys have a certain appeal, you know? So, truly, when she receives a message from ibis while in the middle of taking care of Very Important Business TM at the Church of the Ceaseless Downpour, there's only one possible response: you missed the please and thank you :c Exactly twelve minutes later (it takes her two to actually find her friend), Ibis might see a shadow be suddenly cast over him, for overhead, a Dragonair approaches with a gust of wind — gracefully levitating a few metres off the ground, long and serpentine. Sitting on a saddle on the Dragonair's back, Tuesday smirks at Ibis from beneath the brim of a hat, her cat ears being currently flicked back. "Hey, cowboy. Heard you could use a hand."She had even changed her dress and her boots too, her cowboy get-up aesthetically enhanced by the subtlest and most purposeful hints of an Armorer's armour. After all, Mars has always loved a good costume.

A very pretty please indeed, he thinks to himself, as his dear kitty-girl friend arrives not too long after she beeps back. Descending like a Valkyrie on a Dragonair, reminding Pace of that one time Muin asked if he had a ride pokémon, and he realised he totally didn't, and felt like that would be the coolest thing in the world. Well, Tuesday 's whole "descending on a dragon" thing only made him realise that it really was the coolest thing in the world. Damnit. He needed to get a dragon he could show Muin.
"You look hot" He grins, in that totally innocent way that Ibis so often did, and Pace did even more. Because, hey, why lie? It was true! She did look hot, made-up cyber-neko or not. All cowboy'd up, much like himself, and between the two of them and the setting around them, this was looking to be an old fashioned rodeo... hoe-down! Or whatever they said down there. Pace wouldn't know, he was a good little second-generation immigrant midwestern boy who only ever said "ope" and never "yeehaw".
"Have a check of this, dude" Ibis passes over the wanted poster, complete with it's totally blank space where an image should be. "Some little poké-guy causing trouble, fucking around with stuff-"
"-ripping up the wanted posters, sneaking into the saloon, stealing from the stores of good, hard-working people...!" Interjects the NPC woman, in the same trembling tone she had regaled Ibis with, who in turn steps in front of her and waves the woman down. He'd already had the spiel, he could pass it onto Tuesday himself, thank you very much.
"Yeah, yeah, uh-huh, that. Wanna get started? Maybe we could catch it, eh, eh?" He waggles his eyebrows, persuasively. If he'd only known that the person behind all the kitty-cutes was his actual IRL friend, Mars. If that had been the case... he probably would have acted exactly the same, and said the same dumb flirty stuff. If not more, in all honesty.

"I always do, pretty boy." The now-Western Alchemist's response rolls off the tongue, not missing a beat nor seeming at all surprised by the praise sent her way by ibis. She dismounts with a swift motion, patting the Dragonair's side and calling him back to his Pokéball. "You look damn great yourself. The cowboy look suits you."Compliments are spoken with no hesitation or shame, looking her friend from head to toe and then meeting his gaze once again. They stand at the same height ever since Mars had altered Tuesday's appearance, but even when that's the case, he doubts Pace realizes he's not actually being hit on by a hot blonde (even with cat ears). It's too damn funny. Especially because getting hit on by Mars himself is obviously much better than by any blonde, so Pace really is missing out here. So Mars would say, at least. "Ah, so it's a capture quest." Her attention turns to the wanted poster then, head tilting. Most Pokémon that spawn in the settlement are of no interest to her, but there's no harm in helping a friend, especially when Ibis looks at her like an excited puppy waiting to be taken for a walk. In return, she smiles at him, mischief glimmering in eyes of golden hues. "Sure, let's have a look around, could be fun. Lead the way, cowboy."She can't do all the work, right?

The pretty boy comment gets a wide grin in jovial response, and it only grows as Tuesday lays the sugar on thicker. Ibis was a sucker for a compliment no matter what side he was on - giving or receiving, and compliments were only the beginning of the list of things he both gave and received. Again, no, he had no idea that Tuesday and Ibis interacting was actually Mars and Pace interacting, as they frequently did - texting or even meeting up in the actual real world, where Mars didn’t have cat ears and Pace… well, Pace mostly looked the same, but with less eclectic fashion choices. It could only be fate that they had found each other and become fast friends once again - a relationship remained a relationship even if neither party knew each other. Or… just Ibis, in this case. “Right? I could’ve made it as a real cowboy, I bet. All those lonely ranch-hand types miles away from their wives or whatever? Heavenly” He watches her analyse the surroundings, a clever cat indeed, and then raises a brow as she announces he lead the way. And of course - who could expect her to do all the work? Ibis surely couldn’t - someone as pretty as that shouldn’t have to raise a finger if they didn’t want to, that’s what Pace had learnt in his years at the school of Trying to date Very Pretty people. And sure, he and Tuesday most certainly weren’t a thing in that way, but she was pretty, and the most important thing about pretty people was that you should do a bunch of stuff for them if they asked. It might have been the law, actually. “Well, apparently the thing’s been stealing from stores. I bet there’s a stockroom or something we can look around in. Here-” He wanders, without really waiting for a reply, to a building with a sign indicating it was some kind of shop. The NPC working there looks towards him for a moment and Ibis dismisses him by simply raising one hand in a lazy half-wave similar to the 2-finger blessing of Jesus. “We’re here in investigate the wild beast that’s been terrorising the settlement”

The funny thing about the Briarbane settlement with its heavy contrast between Edgar Allan Poe vibes and Billy the Kid ones is that there's a lot of NPCs that were probably programmed long before what was once simply called 'Settlement 1' acquired the aforementioned heavily contrasting vibes. Which, of course, leads to there being some NPCs like Steve here (Tuesday doesn't actually know his name, but 'Steve' will do just fine), who look, sound, and act like they're employees at a theme park. "Howdy." 'Steve' greets them with a nod, a hand reaching for his cattleman hat. "Aye, that beast 'as been causin' trouble alright. Just yesterday it broke into my cellar, to the everworld with it. Go have a look if ya like."Really? Just like that? Tuesday quirks a brow at how simple all of this seems to be, because in her experience with UNOVR, not even tutorial quests are usually that straightforward. There's probably going to be a twist once they're at the cellar, right? She sure as hell expects as much, but when ibis turns to look at her, she simply shrugs. Might as well follow their only lead.
