TRIAL OF LIGHT: MYNE

“ These phantoms have all lost something. Some part of them, be it hope, light, mind, or body." Seta’s virtual voice rang in the child’s ears, the child nodding slightly in thought as she considered the words. She too had lost something, some part of her had… died maybe? When her parents had put her into the foster system. She knew they loved her, they even still kept in contact when they could but that didn’t mean she hadn’t considered that maybe she had…. What done something wrong? That it was her fault that they had effectively left her? Her siblings had gone to their family members but they didn’t want her, didn’t want to deal with the medical issues she presented and her parents couldn’t afford to keep her at the moment… They had promised that if they could gather the money they would get her back and, despite everything she had never stopped holding out hope for that day to come over the past few months bordering on a year.

The child was pulled from her own thoughts as she followed Seta through the hallway, coming to a large room that seemed to have… was that the Popplio she had been going after? What was wrong with it? Was it okay? As the thoughts entered the adolescent’s mind the kid began to look around, taking note of each and every light around her. Floating lights? I wonder what those mean to Popplio…. she pondered as she eyed the lights. Some were much too bright to look at, while others seemed to pulse and dance like fireflies. The chid squinted at the too bright ones, briefly wondering if she should pick up some sunglasses from an accessories shop at some point before her gaze fell upon the firefly like lights around.

Bright golden eyes darted to the instructions, indicating some kind of puzzle of lights she was meant to put in the right order. But this isn’t just a puzzle….. this is a Pokémon’s life, their personality and what they dream of! She knew these were virtual creatures and yet she couldn’t resist the thought that even if it was just coding, this was something’s feelings!

The child paused in her search of lights, gaze flickering over toward the gradually more and more incorporeal form of the Popplio, a frown pursing her lips as she considered the words she had been told. She was supposed to…. Make this thing a new form from the light? But weren’t they all…. Oh they’re not all the same colour… Myne shook her head at her own lack of observation: The lights were all different colours, blue, red, green… all manner of colour and brightness of said colour. So then… I need to combine them the right ways? Like red and blue make purple if the right shades are picked… all the colours together would make white, since it is the light spectrum then…. Okay, lets see what I can do.

Put the lights together in the right order. The child shifted, looking between the clusters of lights and then resting on the Popplio. It’s flickering a bunch? Like it’s not able to keep its form, like it’s struggling or something…. From the side of her eye the golden eyed girl spotted the dimmest of the lights, it’s own flickering in a different pattern then the Popplio, then a thought struck.”If I find the one that matches with Popplio, but not quite maybe then….”

Slowly the girl moved along the lights, carefully watching each and doing her best to remember the pattern of the Pokémon’s own flickering: occasionally the girl would look back at the Pokemon, humming softly in the pattern she was seeing when she wasn’t looking at it. Find the one that matches but doesn’t quite… she liked matching games, this was something she was good at.

After a decent amount of time the blue haired child found what she searched for, carefully approaching the flickering sky blue light. “There you aaaare.” She cooed at the light, smiling slightly as she looked at the Pokemon before slowly moving the light toward it. Once the light drew close enough it seemed to catch in some sort of vacuum, getting sucked into the very creature itself: There was the tiniest of shift in the creature, one you wouldn’t notice if you weren’t looking for it. “There we go looks like we’re doing this right.”

Gradually the form of hte Popplio formed into a more solid form, the child glancing to grin eagerly at it. “Just a bit more my friend and maybe I can take you with me. We can have great adventures together… you can join my family.” The blue haired girl explained eagerly, a soft sigh leaving her lips as she quickly looked around. Now for the colouring I think… Popplio are mostly blue, save for their noses soooo….

with great care the child moved, taking a darker blue light, carefully dragging it toward the Popplio’s curled up form. As she allowed hte vacuum to suck in the light she moved, pulling a lighter blu, a dim pulsating thing pulsating in a 2,1,2 pattern and slowly moving it toward a matching equally dim white light. She needed to have a lighter blue for the snout and such areas after all.

Now for the pink of the nose.

Fiddling with the red lights and the white, mixing it a tad if of yellow proved to take longer then she intended or hoped it out take to find the proper colour she wanted, eagerly the girl drew the  balls of light toward the spirit of hte water type.

“Please come back. You don’t deserve to be…. Here. You deserve to be happy, to live a good life with a family and find your dreams.”
