Perhaps he would have complained some more, but at that moment, a pair of Nidoran hopped out of the tall grass and braced themselves before the small group, snarling and hissing ferociously. Decibelle and Cinder tensed, ready to take on the new threat, but Tamara had different ideas.

“Nope!” She announced blithely, punctuating the announcement with a graceful little jump. The jump in question took her straight over the top of the dismissed opponents, and she resumed walking without any further pause.

Fondly exasperated, Cinder and Decibelle hastened to catch up with their peculiar trainer. They were so bemused by the whole interaction that they completely failed to notice the Duraludon standing motionless off to the side of the path, up ahead. Quite how everyone in the little party failed to clock the metal dragon the size of a tall adult human was a bit of a mystery, but miss it they most certainly did.

“ARGH!” An undignified screech left Tamara as the metal beast shot towards her, moving far faster than one might assume a creature of its size and composition would be able to. On reflex, she brought the umbrella she was still carrying up, and with an almighty CLANG, it collided with the beast’s teeth.

“Oh, you are a sight for sore eyes!” Tamara shouted as she danced away from the creature’s gnashing teeth. “I’m not sure what we did to piss this one off, but it really wants to ruin our day!” Now that she was over the initial shock of the ambush (is it really an ambush if it’s your own fault you didn’t notice it?), the teen was back to her usual laughing, carefree demeanour.

As she skipped back, away from the Duraludon, Cinder and Decibelle streaked past in a flash, advancing to engage the beast. They probably would have been in the thick of it sooner, but they’d still been lagging behind after her dismissal of the Nidoran!

Tam began to snicker at the joke, but her eyes went wide when the Duraludon reacted with rage. “Ohh, uh, you might actually be right there!” She called, using a hand to shield her face when Cinder shot a Flamethrower in the steel beast’s direction.

“Mister Duraludon!” She shouted, trying to draw the creature’s attention. “You know, the professor said she really just needs your help for a bit. She’s going to release you all lat-“ She was cut off when the wild pokemon charged right at her. A cringing dodge reduced the hit to a glancing blow, but Belle was soon fussing over her regardless.

“Well that was just rude!” The teen remarked as she stomped back into the battle. She couldn’t keep the serious face on for long though, and was soon grinning at Taylor smirk. This time she sent out different Pokemon to fight – she hadn’t been making much use of the rest of her team lately, and it was a shame.

Marizipan and Floss soon appeared on the field, and Tam ran her hand over the Ponyta’s pale neck. “Think you could help us out here, guys?” She queried, quirking a brow.

Mumble gives the other team no time to respond, darting in for a vicious Drill Peck. Slightly surprised, but more than willing to follow his lead, Taylor darts back into the fray, placing herself between the beast and Tamara’s team.

Seems like as good a time as any to try this out… She mused to herself, darting in with a Fire Punch. She’d only unlocked the elemental punches recently, and hadn’t had a chance to try them out before now.
