He couldn’t recall if they’d done this, back home.
Otherwise, having a tower of challenges that involved using certain moves to clear obstacles?! Wasn’t that witty of the North American server to have such an option available!
After scouring his team, he came to the belated realization that… only one of his team had the move required; while normally this would be okay—fact of the matter was that it was his Celesteela of all things that had the move!
(Plus, he’d been warned about taking these strange ones out of Ostellia, but what other choice did he have?!)
He whistled as the enormous Pokémon unfurled themselves from the beam of red light—and he wondered, since this one didn’t speak or understand human language, how was…
“Uh…” he trailed off; before noticing that the Celesteela seemingly, possibly acted on instinct; jamming its ultra-large ‘hands’ into the ground and… seemingly rooting itself into the earth with Ingrain.
Although there was this weird, keening, screeching noise that would follow afterward; it was the price he was willing to take. For now, at least.
“Well… that worked. For now.”
But who was to say if he was going to get lucky a second time…

For a Tower Challenge called the Park of Dogs, why weren't the challengers allowed to use dog Pokémon? It was a question he had a burning desire to ask Zacian the next time they appeared to check on how they were doing rounding up the floating, bouncing Solosis.
The rules against dog Pokémon frustrated Josh, as almost all of his Pokémon that could use electric moves were canines. Sighing, he reached for Blitz, hoping the little Shinx's electric attacks were powerful enough to ground the psychic Pokémon bouncing around the pen. He had recently added the classless Pokémon to his team, having little idea how the lion cub would perform in combat.
Thankfully for Josh and the small cat, this wasn't a true combat situation where levels mattered.
"That one, Blitz," he pointed at a Solosis floating near the underside of an awning. "Use THUNDERSHOCK!" The excited cub growled cutely, raising his paws and discharging a nasty shock toward the green Pokémon.

He thought he wasn’t going to come back to this place—at least for a while—at least, until the next server-wide announcement for the Tower of Dogs was calling for a Bug-type move.
Hilariously enough, he had exactly one Pokémon that fit the prompt, and so he would make his return—seeing some familiar faces (as well as new ones) tackling the tower.
(At least this time the round Pokémon weren’t Wooloo, so there was that.)
One flash of red light later, the many skittering mandibles of his Kabuto would click throughout the area.
‘So all I have to do is play with the Solosis a little, right?’
“Pretty much,” he would confirm as the Kabuto then let loose a Leech Life attack on the nearest Psychic-type Pokémon, hopefully scaring them away with the menacing mandible clicking too!

Seeing the flash of red light alongside Altair 's reappearance, Shalin was surprised to see the Kabuto. That was not on the list of water Pokémon she expected him to use! To her, Kabuto felt more like a rock-type than a water-type. Those claws underneath its hard shell would still work just as well at LEECHING LIFE from a Solosis that was overly inflated.
Shalin's eyes were glued to the top of her HUD, waiting for the next attack type. "Great shot, Altair ! I got this one!" she called out to the Sky Trainer as Saria's bud erupted with a torrent of LEECH SEEDS. They rained upon the Solosis on the south side, the horde scattering. All but one were able to get out of the way, but hitting one seemed to be good enough! The glitch hunter kneeled down to embrace the large grass-type. Soon, she wouldn't even have to do that; she felt like Saria could evolve at any moment now.

Time was running out on this round of the tower challenge, making Wolf mildly panic. Though she tried not to show it, the long grey furred wolf tail attached to her lower back began to shift. Pale golden orbs kept flickering to the time limit, praying that someone online could help them get through this round . However, the clock was running down and Wolf couldn’t wait any longer. She wanted those dogs man!
“Fenrir,” the hybrid called to her glaceon, a hand rose to finger point to a few trying to escape them, “Quick! Get freeze those ones over there too!” The feline’s gaze turned to the player, only to follow her pointer to a few of those weird squishy things fleeing from the scene. He casted her a dark glare, hissing at her only to swiftly shift his weight and chase down those solosis.
Fenrir was quick to catch up, leaping in front of their path. His back arched, hissing nasty at them. The poor wild pokemon turned to flee a different direction. The glaceon took in a deep breath, feeling the air freeze within his lungs. And when ready, his muzzle parted to let loose a blast of ICY WIND towards the small group of ‘balls’ that were trying to escape them.

A leather beak protruded past the chain-link fence as one Respiro peeped inside the front gates. He studied the situation with one yellow eye, then the other. He'd heard the howls all the way from the Arena. Bone-chilling, soprano. Like mallards drawn to a dancing fox, Respiro, too was called. To do what? Some mini-game. A mini-test, a mini-quiz. He was not good at using his head, not as much as his feet, not as much as his legs. It was amazing how far you could go when you just didn't stop. USE A SPECIAL MOVE spelled out in the bottom corner of his HUD, overlaid in a crisp, Spanish translation. He shifted his weight from one foot to another as he thought, furiously. ...and sent out Espeon, who he greeted with much energetic waving. The feline Pokemon looked taken aback, and said something in English. <What are you doing?> Point point wave wave burst burst peeeeew! The little trainer mimed an explosion, then stopped abruptly. He cocked his head to the side, as if to say Get it?The Espeon's expression was distinctly confused, but perhaps that fed into confusion. Psychic energy collected in the creature's gem, then just sat there. It needed a target. Respiro pointed at the wobbly green shapes currently decorating the park benches and paths, venturing a little further into the park. Look, look! He gave one of them an experimental prod with his foot and it rolled slightly, jiggling. Gelatinous. Respiro beckoned, running between the Solosis and all the way back to the baffled Espeon. <Ah. I think I got it.> The Solosis floated up in the air, surrounded by pink light, and gently floated out the park gates. Respiro clapped and leapt, exuberant. FLOOR 7: A SPRINKLING OF MARILL "These balls are exquisitely resilient," says Zacian, tilting her head to the side to inspect a Solosis. Zamazenta slams into one of the balls, and it disappears with a flash of Psychic energy, only to appear nearby alongside a perfect copy.
"Did it just duplicate?" she asks. "That may post problems later."
Zamazenta shows little concern, simply shifting attention to another of the squishy green balls. He ran off at full speed, finding endless fun in chasing the teleporting targets.
Back within the confines of the park, the temperature rises and a mechanism clicks on. Tiny Marill pop out of holes in the lush green turf and send sprays of water arcing across the field.
Zamazenta's ears perk up and he rushes back to the gate. He mashes his face against the bars, barking furiously as the little blue Pokemon roam the ground as living sprinklers.
"I have asked them to change the timer on those," Zacian says coldly. "He's useless when they go off. Stop them would you?"
You have collected 60 Balls and unlocked Rockruff (R)! The next reward (Snubbull) will be unlocked at 70 Balls.

In a bid to continue adding team members, Arthur figured he should really explore the other mini games available in UNOVR, as he was informed by the game that it could award some free Pokemon. This was actually not his first time checking the status of the towers, but when he looked at it last time, he either could not complete the objective (it would tell him None of your Pokemon are eligible!) or someone got to it first. This was the first time that neither of these were true, as both his Chimchar and Kricketot were unevolved Pokemon, and no one had claimed it yet.
But he wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to be doing here. There were a lot of those little round Water type Pokemon (the name escaped him, but they looked familiar), and there were two large dogs nearby asking about balls. Collect the balls? Beat the balls? He tried not to slip on the puddles of water quickly forming on the floor.
He at least knew about type match ups though, and even if his Kricketot did not have a name yet, he was the more suitable choice.
<I'm afraid I might be too green for a battle.> the bug type said when he exited the Poke Ball into what looked like a bizarre battlefield.
❝Don't worry about it, I don't think those things are going to attack.❞ they were just...rolling around. Shooting water from their mouths. ❝Maybe use a Tackle and bump them towards those poor doggies over there.❞
<Hm.> an odd request, but it did not sound unreasonable. The Kricketot made sure to toddle into position before gearing up his little legs for a Tackle, hitting the mysterious live ball and knocking it towards the gate. The bouncing was rather mesmerizing to watch, and it was still spraying water everywhere. <Is that sufficient?>
The ball managed to get on its feet, but it was closer to the gate. ❝Maybe we'll need to give it another push.❞

"O-hohohoho!"
Morgana twirled in, pirouetting on one foot like a smug glass ballerina. A Mudkip followed on her heels, hound-like, peeping nervously at the 'No Dogs Allowed' sign on the gate.
Marill, Marill, as far as the eye could see. The little mouse Pokemon's ears twitched, sensing danger, and the rodents began to roll and toddle away as quickly as they could. "Oh no you don't," Morgana said, wobbling as she came out her spin. "We have dibs on this one! Jack, do the thing!"
"Peep peep?" Jack asked, tilting his fishy head to the side.
"Yes, THE the thing," Bergamot answered exasperatedly, flipping her hair. She obviously had Pokemon Speech turned on. "Go on, use DUAL WINGBEAT!"
The little mudfish focused, with some trepidation. Then the shadows beneath his body seemed to bend and arch, rising up off the ground in the shape of two huge, fiery wings. The shapes of dark flames wiggled and jumped, evoking the rainbow feathers of Moltres herself. With two powerful strokes, the shadows beat, blasting a Marill off its feet and sending it rolling straight towards Morgana, who caught it under one high heel like a soccer player receiving an easy pass.
"See? Easy peasy," she said as the sinister wings retreated back inside the Mudkip, folding themselves up neatly again inside the starter's shadow. "Oh Zamazentaaa! I have a new ball for youuu!"

Wow, so many new faces! It seemed that almost everyone wanted to see Zacian and Zamazenta. Depicted as steadfast heroes in the video games, Shalin couldn't help but giggle when she saw that Zamazenta was... hydrophobic? She felt bad for the fighting-type, because it was blazing hot.
Saria wandered into the park, basking in the rainstorm the bouncing MARILL had created. She wasn't just thirsty, though; she was hungry. The lack of sustenance from the suddenly overcast conditions made her wilting even more exhausting. Without so much as a command from her trainer, she spread LEECH SEEDS all over the park, one of them stopping on a single water-type and causing it to stop. Smiling, the green-ette stepped into the rain to retrieve the curled-up rodent and presented it to Zamazenta.

Josh felt bad for the Snubbull he would be receiving. The fairy-type was a cute dog Pokémon, but with it being bipedal instead of on all fours, it would simply wind up going to one of UNOVR's Trade Shops to secure a Pokémon he wanted more: an Absol. With how many Pokémon could talk, it felt like they all had personalities. The Pokémon truly were alive within the game world -- more so than animals one would simply tame in the real world. It got him thinking.
Josh was starting to grow in level a lot. He would soon be able to hop onto some Pokémon that were based on real-world apex predators. Would they want to wear saddles? Or would they buck and heave as soon as they felt their trainer's weight? That was a thought for the future Josh to ponder.
For now, he had a job to do.
With it being unbearably hot, Josh had a great idea; while it wouldn't be effective against the Marill immediately, it would make things easier -- both in terms of slowing the bouncing mice down and making conditions inside the park more bearable. "Ulysses, ICY WIND!" the scout ordered after calling on his aquatic Pokémon, who was able to swim through the gaseous environment thanks to the young man's splash into Swimmer. A cold wind began to whip and whirl through the park, dropping the air temperature perhaps a bit too much!

Okay, Rockruff was something he could make use of—all things considered, because there were certain items that allowed changing a Pokémon’s set ‘type’, apparently.
(Plus he quite liked the look of the one that evolved between daylight and midnight. Which one was that again…?)
Either way, he would see the prompt and bite a bark of laughter back before looking over at Alicia Westfield and smirking.
“No, you rest. You’re not the only one who can do highly-destructive moves at a time like this.”
Although this time, though…
He would then swap out his strange, invasive species for a familiar sight—his Murkrow.
All it would take was one light Gust of wind suddenly chaining and transforming into something that really looked like it came out of those cheesy B-movies…
A Z-Move: Supersonic Skystrike.
Yeah, this was a little bit of overkill in this instance, wasn’t it?

Thankfully, the whistling ‘rocket ship’ would be withdrawn, and immediately replaced with a Murkrow that… quite literally, went fucking ham on the poor Marill that were going off like water sprinkers.
“Yikes, violent,” he would cackle.
The next prompt would flash across the interface, and… for a few minutes there he panicked because—while he had a breadth of Water-types, there was a serious lack of Ice-types…
No, wait, he could do this!
“Outta the way!” he would yell as he raced to the front, recalling the Kabuto before producing a black-colored Gyarados who would then roar towards the sky; before jumping in and immediately biting frost-infused fangs of ice at the closest ‘water sprinkler’ in an attempt to scare them away.
Well… that worked, somehow!

Marill?! Morpheus only went for weeks offline due to school and he came back with several Water/Fairy-type Pokemon wreaking havoc. What was worse was that the Legendary Dogs seemed AWOL to deal with this chaos. Just looking around made him regret putting himself on a UNOVR hiatus.
<<Hey! Why are you spacing out?!>> His thoughts broke and he turned to see his Snivy glaring at him as usual. <<I'm still unhappy that you went missing for too long. But if you keep staring like an idiot, then what's the point of coming back here?!>>
Morpheus sighed. His starter Pokemon was very bossy as usual, but he wasn't complaining. He was a bit rusty and he might as well take her scolding to heart. "Right, sorry, Ourus. I need to focus. Since they're only Marill, how about you take a crack at them?"
<<Hmph! You better... I hate it when you keep acting like a new trainer.>> Ourus stepped forward as one of the Marill jumped at them.
"Use Leaf Blade!"
His Snivy huffed before swiping her tail toward the Marill, creating a small green energy blade that slashed through it. NEXT PROMPT: [#68] [Tower]XJB_8KOK1-50 1-50

It seemed Paldea Pokémon were in short supply; once the scrolling prompt at the top had changed, the bouncing Marill seemed to get faster. It was as though the Dog Park was requesting not just a Paldea Pokémon, but a fast one at that. The only other person Josh knew with one was Alicia Westfield , and he wasn't going to wait for her.
Withdrawing Ulysses, the racer clicked open the Poké Ball containing his Cyclizar, Goroh. The saddle on his back indicative that the two had worked well enough with one another for Josh control him as a mount, Josh hopped on and looked ready to chase them down. Focusing on one that was moving directly toward him, the racer adjusted the dragon-type's course ever so slightly, wheeling the water-type rodent with his RAPID SPIN and bouncing him toward the tall heroes.
