I wish for a cool sword with magnetic powers
Torino didn't have a sword, and she hadn't unlocked the class to make it either. But she did know how to make magnets, and that was the first step.
She approached the imposing Thunderfall Shrine, her feet dancing with sparks as she stepped lightly across the hallowed ground. Her arms were full of metal, and the iron shards hummed and sparked as she approached. Her arms tingled, and the ring on her little finger zapped her.
Zapdos wasn't at the shrine. Torino had never seen him here, but she had sometimes spotted his form circling at the edge of the Surge Steppes. Still, she thanked him. "Thank you Zapdos," she said, as she raised one of the pieces of iron egg up as high as she could. Then, with a single slow motion, like she was painting a wall, she dragged the pieces down the shrine.
There was a scrape of metal on metal, and once she reached the bottom Torino repeated the motion again. Then again. She had done this as a kid, making little needles for a water compass. It wasn't a good way to make something magnetic, and it certainly wasn't fast, but over time-
CLANG!
Her hand had magnetized to a piece of iron egg, the gift from eddiecayge now stuck firmly against the surface. "No!" she shouted, voice breaking the silence around the shrine.

This trip to the shrine all the way out here was—was—
There was blood pouring out of the side of his forehead and he had no way to quell or staunch the bleeding—just why did he have to run out of bandages and disinfectant at the worst possible time?!
“Cazzo, cazzo, cazzo, cazzo!” he hissed as he pulled away his right hand—now soaked with very wet, very crimson blood that refused to let up despite him pressing against the bleeding wound as hard as he possibly could.
He… he really looked like a mess. The belated realization that the hand he’d pressed to the fresh wound on his forehead was his right hand didn’t even register until he caught sight of the roughly-wrapped bandages turning red the moment he’d slapped his right hand on the electrified piece of jutting metal—
“Fuck!”
oh look the scar origin story

Why did it feel like he would be coming out here a lot…?
The blood that hadn’t dried on his hands yet was now coating one side of his face—he looked like someone who had gotten into a nasty bar fight and had gotten a rather powerful hit with a shard of broken glass—
Only in this instance it wasn’t a shard of broken glass but a really tiny, absolutely angry Kartana that had tried to slice his face open!
“Shit, why’s the blood still on the shrine,” he mused quietly as he then balled his right hand into a fist and pressed the bloodied bandages against the imprint he’d left behind earlier.
At least the metal hadn’t drawn the scent of whatever was hungry for blood out here yet…
Yet.
oh look the scar origin story

Alicia heaved softly. It had been some time since she’d topped off her squad’s HP for spawns all told. So… she popped back around here because she was in the area. She needed another visit to Thunderfall Shrine anyways.
”Thank you, Zapdos…” She whispered softly. ”And thank you to everyone who decided to spare his life.”
She had dug into the records of some prior events recently. And had found out that Thunderfall had quite the choice involved.
She didn’t want to wonder what this game’s world would be like if they had been callous.

While walking through the Nexus, the glimmer of stars visible in the sky, Tabula had stumbled across a strange sight.
Placing a palm against the cool steel, electricity shuddered through their bones, their heart, their very being - a shaky inhale...and exhale.
The storm fades, as quickly as it appeared.
...How strange.

Arthur remembered fire, a lack of eyes, and a thirst for blood that was not his own. There was also the little matter of that brief moment when he felt something nick his neck, though nick was just underplaying it.
As he gave his mind time to process what happened, he knew that he whited out. It was a familiar pattern: breathe in deep, like he was resurfacing, panting, tasting the air - this time he had more energy to look around frantically, feel the remains of fatal wounds that had been healed with sparks, and to his utter relief, his Vulpix and Poochyena by his side, whimpering (they had awoken before him and were waiting for him to stir).
He gathered the two into an embrace, muttering, thank God, you're still here, before quickly checking his box to see if anyone had been affected. No, it was only Gou. It was a mistake that only he was punished for.
He let out a withered sigh and grimaced. That was too careless, but he supposed it was good to know(?) that facing them alone was not going to work out at all. He also noted that there was a notification that the battle was already finished. That was fine, he hoped that the two players that were there (one of them was...Alicia Westfield, wasn't it?) were able to make it out fine and get their prize. He had mixed feelings if he was given the choice to catch it. He wasn't sure what he would do.
In any case, he lied back down on the cold, hard dirt for a while, his eyes on the wide metal spire where supposedly Zapdos rested in wait, his arms still around his two Pokemon to ensure he wasn't dreaming.

Orion sat before the shrine, legs crossed with an egg resting in his lap. A light hum in the air and on his lips, his fingers dancing along the smooth eggshell. "You know lil man..." he murmurred softly. "Considering the fact that me and Big Bird duked it out in the sky and threw hands like we were two quarterbacks at the superbowl...I feel the strongest connection to him. Maybe it's the sick ass color scheme, maybe its his warrior spirit...maybe its maybeline." His knee bounced lightly as he whispered.
"But I hope that one day you can meet him, and he can see that there's still hope worth fighting for."

"You know, I am just now realizing how much faith you have in us," Laguna spoke up softly as she gazed upon the shrine. She laid back against the very ground as her eyes scanned up and down the massive shrine.
"You know what we were originally going to do with it. And yet, you have granted us free use. All the while you continue the mission in your own way, fighting against the corruption along the edge of Mistra." If only Moltres joined them in the fight, actively, even if Articuno was too weak to leave his realm.
"I know your power is here, and not simply, you. So I don't know if this means anything to you. But-" Laguna paused, a sheepish smile on her face. "I wrote you a poem I hope you enjoy it.."

"Sir Hail, I undestand you are my loyal shield, but I will not have you sacrifice your own well being, just for me." Laguna spoke with a stern voice, as the power of the shrine helped restore her friend's energy. She was looking at the Cryognal with a soft look in her eyes regardless, a hand gently squeezing their chain. "You don't understand, I well and truly care for you."
Sir Hail was quiet, his eyes glancing elsewhere.
"It is one thing to understand that Plasma means you can leave whenever you want. But it is another to understand just how much I truly care for you. I want to be your friend, Sir Hail. I want to know what you like, what you don't like. I want to be able to have conversations with you about dumb stuff, I want to be able to show you beautiful views I find, I want to let you see the world as I see it. Something beautiful, and something worth fighting for. But that also all means... that you are worth fighting for. If you are hurt, I will always be there by your side. I promise."
"... They're still waiting for us in the harbor." Sir Hail spoke quietly, still refusing to look at Laguna. It was clear he had some intense emotions, something he couldn't quite process how to say. Combat was what he knew, serving is what he knew. It's what he expected, being captured by a trainer long ago. He's made his choice to stay, he's accepted it, but he's clearly not fully process what it truly means. "We shouldn't put them at risk. We can have this conversation later.... I promise."
Laguna smiles softly, nodding her head as she pulls the snowflake Pokemon closer. "We will, have this conversation. I promise too."

Laguna laid flat on a ruined road near the shrine a few seconds after pressing her palm against the shrine, letting out a long sigh as she allowed the feeling of the shrine's energies flow through her. It had been a long day, dealing with public transportation nightmares, and she just needed a moment to unwind and destress.
Her skin crawled with the pressure, that gut feeling of raw power. It was like a rush of adrenaline, in a positive way that caffeine could never compare. No amount of energy drinks or sleep could compare to the raw flow of energy from Zapdos himself.
"Hoo!" Shouted our Brragon, after briefly touching the shrine and feeling the power overwhelm the Frigibax. "Hah! Hooo! Yeeaaah! Feel the power flowing through me! I'm like a monster!" They roared out, an adorable squeal, moving to pick up a small rock and chuck it to the side where it shattered, and they roared again.
Laguna couldn't help but immediately laugh, turning over from where she laid to look over at her Pokemon. "Having fun playing destruction over here?"
"Yeah!" Brragon pumped his arms upwards, as if trying to will more power of the shrine into him. "One day, I'll be as tall as these buildings! And then I can destroy them all!"
She laughed right away, giggling to herself. "Not all of them hon. You don't want to destroy the place we worked so hard on, do you?"
"I- Well- No... But some of them!"
"We can work with some of them."

Brragon was silent, feeling the power of the Thunderfall Shrine washing over him. It was the first time he had truly been here, and it seemed that the Frigibax had found themselves in silent awe. Laguna was not going to interrupt them, watching the Pokemon as they placed their hands upon the shrine. She just smiled, slowly sitting down and waiting for them. He was one of her Pokemon that definitely was struggling to adjust the most, but she never once doubted his genuine kindness.
If only he knew how to be kind to himself when he failed something.
"... I think I get it." Brragon finally spoke up, stepping back from the shrine and looking back at Laguna. "Power isn't just beating up something, because you can. It's... about holding back, because you can."
Laguna tilted her head, patting her lap for the Frigibax to crawl atop. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, like, the most powerful Pokemon ever, don't just destroy everything, right? They protect. They hold back, they show glimpses of their strength, and then the shrine here is supporting others following their goal. It's... weird. But I get it."
Laguna would suddenly smile, leaning in to kiss the top of his head. "I'm proud of you, you know that?"
"Ewwww, blugh!" He'd suddenly attempt to escape at being kissed, only before the two devolved into a fit of giggles.

Torino picked herself up. "A new dog," she mused, "It needs a cute face. Maybe Bella?" she opened her map and paused, finger over the icon for the Dune District. "No! Bello!" she smiled. The male Growlithe had a much more distinguished and squishable face. He would be perfect!
But then her face fell with realization.
"Oh no! But it will be wearing a helmet!" she slumped. "So I cannot push his beautiful face. Maybe I should pick for personality then..." she clicked the button and disappeared in a flash of light, still undecided on the face of her new friend.

"It's been a while, hasn't it? I'd wondered where your brick had gone and fallen."
Lucky finally found himself at the base of this shrine. He'd used to sit under here, back when it had sat at the surge steppes. Back when he was still worried about so many things in his life, when he was still afraid of the thought of a porygon and a fish.
He had yet to find a bigger fish, but be'd sure as hell found a bigger bird. Zapdos didn't seem to perch here any more than he did the first giant hunk of stone, though. Just like last time, he knew that he wasn't going to get a response from Zapdos. Even when he hadn't known what was slumbering here, he'd never gotten a response.
Lucky felt claws resting on his shoulder. Omen was there, resting on the earth beside him.
"You don't need him to notice you," She tells him. Lucky knew that he didn't, too. It wasn't difficult to acknowledge it. In a way, though, it felt like he was saying goodbye to an old part of his life by sitting here. He wouldn't rest in the soft grass of the Steppes, nor would he take in the cool breeze as he watched the peaceful grey sky. No more random thunderstrikes after calling the monolith a rude name. This place was different. So was Zapdos. So was Lucky.
"Thanks for the good times, Zapdos. Have fun chucking thunderbolts at Mistra."

It wouldn’t take too long for him to make an unscheduled return trip to the Thunderfall Shrine—a look of surprise would cross his face as he saw that there was a particular section of the shrine had a familiar-looking stain still visible on its face.
“What the…” he trailed off, blinking at the familiar hand print that was there. It hadn’t rubbed off? Despite the entire metallic structure emitting static electricity and keeping the place clean?
“Huh.”
He would blink and touch the shrine at the same spot where his blood had unceremoniously painted the shrine, back then.
how is that still there?!

"Shrine, shrine... Where the heck is the shrine?!" Morpheus muttered as he looked around the area with his Poipole flying by his side. "The map said there's a shrine nearby."
As he panickedly looked around, Pica noticed something on their left and nudged its large head to him. <<Do you mean that strange spiky thing over there?>>
Morpheus's eyes widened at what they said. True to their words, he saw a shrine not far from where he was. "Good job, Pica! Come on!" They rushed towards the shrine with great haste and when they got closer, Morpheus let its power envelop his Poipole. "There. In a few seconds, you're gonna be well enough to finish off that Snivy."
The Poipole chuckled as the yellow aura spread around their body. <<It tickles! And your bag is also tickling!>>
"My bag?" He looked through his bag that represented his inventory and to his surprise, it was vibrating in a quiet hum. "Odd... Might as well check it out later. Right now, we need to get back to Ourus. She might be in danger if we leave her with that wild Snivy any longer."
<<Yeah! No one hurts our grassy friend!>>
Morpheus nodded with a smile. He knew his Snivy might be a sarcastic diva, but she was still protective to him and the other Pokemon in his team.
