A man was standing in the middle of the dunes, cursing as heâs buffeted by the sands. With some difficulty, he raised a black egg in his hands.
The green tessellations on its shell glowed brighterâthe brightest it ever had. It was a shining beacon in the dark. A breathtaking star.
âYou fucking egg!â The man yelled, shaking it violently. âOf all the places you couldâve picked, it had to be here? In death land, the land where everything dies?!â
The egg, due to its nature of being an egg, did not reply, save for its glow blinking in his face.
âI couldâve dug you a pit! Gotten you the biggest tree! Theâthe biggest, juiciest apple, you little wormâ!â Tucking the egg under his arm, the man face-palmed hard enough to sting. He looked around tiredly. âCan I even build anything here? Or is it all just going to get swallowed up by the Corruption?â
There was nothing here, except for a dismal abandoned amusement park somewhere off in the distanceâtoo far for Arceusâ Specialest Little Egg, apparently. All he could see, at least beyond the horrors, were the shuffling figures of Ostelliaâs invasive species.
â⌠Wait a minute.â

THE LIVING SHRINE
in this lonesome sanctuary, the walls have eyes.
Deep within the ever-shifting landscape of ruin and miasma lies a single immovable constant. The small monolith of dark brick stands like a painting on the sea of black sand, a half-built castle unaffected by the waves of Corruption crashing on the canvas.
It is alive. Approach it and see the bricks that flip inward to reveal a single glowing blue eye, with more joining until its façade is covered as you draw close. At its navel lies an outline among the bricks resembling a door. It will open to offer a temporary refuge for those stranded in these barren lands, but it will offer no further.
It will heal no other except its true ward. It will not move. The Stakataka sits here, from dawn âtill dusk, surrounded by deathâthe only sign of lifeâuntil you.The Shrine is shut.
The Living Shrine was built by Kazuki in dedication to ZYGARDE. It cannot heal your fainted Pokemon, nor can you exalt or sacrifice them here.
But you can stay, if youâd like. Just for a little while.
Until you are strong enough to escape.
