When Josh Devlin had approached her about this, she had been excited. How could she not? These battles represented a way to get some resources for another shop, or perhaps a new Pokemon to round out a team. So she had extensively researched the topic wherever she could. Excitement turned to apprehension as she realized her team was either going to be capped at a lower amount of power or she was going into a battle she had no real capacity to deal with. She had neither enough Pokemon nor enough unlocked tools to deal with higher difficulty Colossals. But despite her new reservations, she had ultimately agreed to the whole debacle. But she had a distinct feeling she was going to be carried this time, rather than the showing she managed against the Naganadel. âI hope you know what youâre doing with this JoshâŚâ Alicia mused. Her Bayleef stood beside her, and Tikani was not amused at being up to bat first against a bird Pokemon. But she didnât say anything, since from what sheâd heard there wasnât a single good choice in Aliciaâs current roster for this. So someone was going to be in the line of fire. Josh Devlin

Colossal Pidgey Attack (Easy) uyKPxdmk2d30 If Supereffective: +20"This isn't my first rodeo here," Josh reassured Alicia as a boss theme blared around them, this one different from the last time he came to the Arena solo. This theme was a lot more percussive and less orchestral than the last, on brand with how much swifter their foe was. "So how these work is they prioritize being able to strike as many weaknesses as possible first, ties being broken by whoever pulls the most aggro. I'm not using all my electric PokĂŠmon at once for that reason."
Alicia just need to watch type matchups and ensure the correct PokĂŠmon were getting hit. Anything to take heat off the damage dealers. The Pidgey would not give Josh that luxury, landing on the cliff's edge and kicking SAND-ATTACK from above all over the newly-evolved horse. Snorting, the larger of Josh's two PokĂŠmon built up a sphere of electricity above his mane, Slider whipping up a TAILWIND to get out of the way. The oversized bird was enough of a headache on his own; they didn't need any friendly fire on top of that.
NOTE: I will be handling all rolls for the boss. AzureGhidorah will only be rolling in the Arena Rolling Thread for their own rolls. Alicia Westfield {BREAKDOWN} COLOSSAL PIDGEY: 671/800 HP 2d30

Alicia nodded slightly. She appreciated the clarifier for the sake of confirmation. There wasnât much time to say anything before the titanic bird was on the move. With how much wind the Pidgey could kick up at that size, the sand hand enough force to be a proper blast rather than an irritant. She and Tikani both winced as the sands scoured the Bayleefâs side. âYou okay Tikani!?â Alicia asked in concern. âHanging in there.â the Bayleef replied as she loped off to the side away from the Rufflet and Zebstrika. Similarly to Slider, she wanted to avoid friendly fire so she needed to make sure the winds were down. Fluttering and flicking her head leaf, she rained a POISON POWDER over the big bird. Though the mechanics were different now, it was still effective as an attack. It was just a more direct form now. {Breakdown} Tikani (Bayleef) - Tank - 353/400 Link to Roll Action: Poison Powder (Tank Tier 2 Charge Attack) Damage Taken: 47 (37 Sand Attack + 10 Attack Strain) Damage Dealt: 103 (93 Base Roll + 10 Rarity)Colossal Pidgey HP: 568/800 (down from 671)

Colossal Pidgey Attack (Easy) ff9x8v|i2d30If Supereffective: +20 The enormous bird had whipped up a proper sandstorm with its wings, its serrated edges tearing into Raiden's skin with ease. Raiden looked far worse for wear than Tikani did, his horn covered in blasted sand and generating electricity at reduced capacity. While the electric-type was strong, he didn't have the lasting power Granmarg did... and Granmarg's strong attacks wouldn't at all helpful against an aerial foe. Especially on a narrow battlefield like this where he had little room to maneuver.
With how swift the Pidgey was, both of Josh's PokĂŠmon were forced to engage it with weaker but less unwieldy moves. Unable to Discharge another huge burst of electricity, Raiden was reduced to a SHOCK WAVE, Slider soaring as high as the environment would let him to avoid friendly fire. Once the electric blast had cleared, he would dive at the giant Pidgey in a lightning-fast AERIAL ACE that Josh briefly daydreamed of being able to ride during. The sandstorm was being scathing, and Alicia could hardly believe how much power the Pidgey had gained just from a greater size. âTry to clip that birdâs feathers!â Alicia called over the storm. It wasnât ideal, given the type is usually resisted. But they needed to try something, even if Tikani wasnât allowed to guide them as a Magical Leaf in this instance. âThatâs a big ask, but Iâll try!â Tikani answered, winding up her attack. A set of RAZOR LEAVES went flying like shurikens, aiming for the Pidgeyâs wings. {Breakdown} Tikani (Bayleef) - Tank - 316/400 Link to Roll Action: Razor Leaf (Tank Tier 2 Charge Attack) Damage Taken: 37 (27 Sand Attack + 10 Attack Strain) Damage Dealt: 11 (1 Base Roll + 10 Rarity) Josh Devlin Colossal Pidgey HP: 403/800 (down from 414)

Colossal Pidgey Attack (Easy) IEn5w0yT2d30If Supereffective: +20 Combat Log> Pidgey readies Sand-Attack.
The swirling sands continued to rage, blinding Raiden and making it difficult for Slider to fly. The wind the giant bird's wings produced deflected away almost all the spores, a single one landing on the creature's back and inflicting... a single point of damage. Josh would have said something, but he knew Alicia's team was not well-matched. Keeping his mouth shut, he stayed focused on the battle.
Combat Log> Raiden readies Thunder Wave.
Josh considered bringing out Ulysses, but he simply wouldn't have enough time to get the Zebstrika patched up. All he could do was watch the horse drop not to being sandblasted, but to the strain of his own THUNDER WAVE.
Combat Log> Raiden has fallen. Combat Log> Slider readies Wing Attack.
The action halted as a pop-up obscured Josh's sight of the boss, Slider in a freeze frame depicting him courageously ramming toward the Pidgey with wings outstretched, ready to clobber it in the face and beak area.
Information> Please select a new party leader.
Rather than designate Slider as the party leader, Josh sent out his Charmander, Ares. He knew what was coming from their battle with Ulysses. If they didn't take this thing down quickly, it would unleash a desperation move that might wipe them all out in one turn. Right after the attacks passed one another, all parties in the battle taking big hits, the Pidgey let out a low-pitched shriek.
Combat Log> Pidgey readies Enrage.
An icon "Phys Charge Time 0" briefly appeared in front of the boss before fading. "Alicia! We have to end this quickly!" Josh urged. Alicia Westfield {BREAKDOWN} COLOSSAL PIDGEY: 236/800 HP 2d30

The roar of the storm continued, and Alicia wondered if Raiden could hold on much longer. The electrical steed was not well suited to consistently weathering such blows, and from what she was seeing the Zebstrika was in the Sweeper class. Part of her wished she wouldâve realized it sooner, as she wouldâve had Tikani take steps to keep the Zebstrika on his feet. Well, they could do something about it now that the Pidgey was Enraged. âPin it down with a Reflect!â Alicia called, acknowledging the danger. âOn it!â Tikani replied quickly, focusing through the slicing sands. Soon, the shimmering hexagons of her psychic REFLECT shimmered into existence over the massive bird. With an effort of will, Tikani brought it down on the Pidgeyâs back, and the bird let out a piercing shriek in shock. With a heavy âboomâ it crashed down to earth and scrabbled at the earth, trying to get back up. âNowâs your chance, Josh!â Alicia called with a devious grin. It wouldnât hold long, but for the moment the enemy was helpless despite being enraged! {Breakdown} Tikani (Bayleef) - Tank - 273/400 Link to Roll Action: Reflect (Tank Tier 2 DISRUPT) Damage Taken: 43 (33 Sand Attack + 10 Attack Strain) Damage âDealtâ: 63 (53 Base Roll + 10 Rarity)Colossal Pidgey HP: 236/800 >INFORMATION: Colossal Pidgeyâs next attackâs power is reduced by 63 points!

Colossal Pidgey Attack (Easy) m4MUxYMM2d30If Supereffective: +20 Combat Log> Pidgey readies Sand-Attack.
Even as Ares brandished his tail, sand continued to pelt and scratch at his skin from all directions, the PokĂŠmon letting out a painful wail from the hit. His tail flame started to die down, as well. Shaking his head, the Charmander shouted, "Take this, you meanie!!"
Combat Log> Ares readies Flamethrower.
Turning downwind to face the cliff wall, the fire-type deeply inhaled before expelling a strenuous-looking cone of FLAMETHROWER not from his tail, but from his mouth. In a sweeping pattern, the creature lured the Pidgey toward Slider in wait, the Rufflet charging in with a diving PECK. The crisscrossing attacks aimed to cook the weakened normal-type, the rider putting all the damage he had into the current turn and the next turn. A desperation move was coming, and they had to finish it off before the Pidgey used it.

Alicia smirked victoriously as the Reflect kept the bird pinned long enough for Ares and Slider to get some good hits in. Though she did take a glance at the limit break bar that was filling far too much for her tastes. Did they try and pin it down again? It likely wasnât going to be a good idea since the bird was on the look out for the barriers now. Practically reading Aliciaâs mind at the moment, Tikani made the call for them. The fact that the winds had died down because the Pidgey was pinned down meant this would be a good chance to get some more damage in too. âSteer clear! More poison coming in!âWarning delivered, the Bayleef whipped her leaf around, throwing another plume of poisonous spores into the air above the oversized sparrow. Ideally this wouldâve been enough, but if itâs not⌠âCounting on you to end it before the nuke!â Alicia called over to Josh. This could get messy⌠{Breakdown} Tikani (Bayleef) - Tank - 263/400 Link to Roll Action: Reflect (Tank Tier 2 DISRUPT) Damage Taken: 10 (0 Sand Attack [Disrupted] + 10 Attack Strain) Damage Dealt: 64 (54 Base Roll + 10 Rarity)Colossal Pidgey HP: 45/800 (Down from 109) Josh Devlin

Colossal Pidgey Attack (Easy) NNYZRwp13d50If Supereffective: +20 Combat Log> Pidgey readies Supersonic Skystrike. Combat Log> Slider readies Aerial Ace.
"We didn't get to it in time! Here it comes - brace yourselves!" Josh warned Alicia as he saw the two messages pop up at the top of his UI. Normally, a move as strong as Supersonic Skystrike was balanced by having a long charge time. Instead, a long cutscene played, the giant Pidgey building up tremendous speed and soaring sky-high. Seconds later after locking onto a swooping path, the behemoth of a bird entered a steep dive resembling that of a peregrine falcon - the fastest animal in the real world. Pulling up with incredible strength that should have flattened it from the g-forces, a corona of dust appeared around it as it raked with its talons across everyone present. If the heroes were standing after that, then they might not be standing after the deafening sonic boom that made them Deafened, unable to hear one another.
Both of Josh's PokĂŠmon were flattened against the cliff face, Ares too dizzy to even move. The chubby Rufflet was the first to recover, taking back to the air with a loud squawk. He charged toward the Pidgey with an AERIAL ACE: a less powerful version of what his foe had just unleashed upon them.
SMAAAASSHH!!
The screen flashed a brilliant white for a brief moment, the CRITICAL HIT reducing the boss to its last few hit points. A tick of Tikani's poison got the rest of the job done, their environment turning to slow motion as the Pidgey dissolved away.
CONGRATULATIONS! Information> You may claim 10 ARENA POINTS or add the defeated PIDGEY to your party. Decision> Arena Points âş Pidgey Information> Please name your captured PIDGEY.
There was only one name suitable for the small bird PokĂŠmon: the wind god Josh had named the PokĂŠmon of the same species during his very first playthrough of the original, eight-bit PokĂŠmon games. The PokĂŠmon was a male, too, which was even more worthy of such a name.
Decision> Is Pazuzu okay? âş Yes No
Josh immediately pulled up his menu to check what level he would need to be to saddle up Pazuzu once it was fully evolved. He noticed it was level 7 - one level away from where he was at. "Wait, Pidgeotto evolve this early?" Josh asked Alicia, perhaps a bit insensitive that the first words out of his mouth weren't "Are you and Tikani okay?" Even so, the racing-obsessed player continued to delve into info screen after info screen about his new capture. "Oh, it's a Pidgeotto. Wait, a saddle for a Pidgeotto? Aren't they too small to carry a rider in flight?"

âOh snap! Tikani!ââNo time now!â the Bayleef cried out, hunkering down. It was already too late to try a Reflect to blunt the incoming attack. And she suspected that her barrier wouldnât have held against that much bird at those speeds anyways. As the talons rent and tore at everyone, she let out a scream as her Flying weakness was hammered by the powerful blow. Deep trenches were dug into the earth as she was sent skidding back towards the cliff with Slider and Ares. But she was raised strong, and had been economical with her energy just like the Rufflet. What mightâve felled a lesser Pokemon, or one more exhausted, was incapable of bringing her down quite that easily. Not that she enjoyed eating a Super Effective strike to the metaphorical face. A flash rang out as Slider recovered in recorded time, moving in to capitalize while the Pidgey recovered from itâs desperate gambit. A Critical at the last second to wound the Avian to near fainting. And with a final whimper, the fight was done. âWhoo! Good work everyone!â Alicia called out as the victory screen popped up. And then she had a tough choice to make. Did she want a Pidgey? Or did she want Arena points for TMs and other items of interest? She mulled the thought over. She technically had a flier already in Venex. But⌠with what Josh shared with her, and the level requirement she discovered regarding riding the Ultra Beast⌠She decided to swipe over to claiming the Pidgey for her team. It wasnât exactly the âregional birdâ sheâd been looking for⌠but aside from Chikorita, sheâd never played with any of these Pokemon before. Spearow and Fearow had always seemed more interesting in the olden games, but even they fell out of fashion afterwards with her. And then Josh was asking her about what he had found while scrolling through info screens. And he seemed honestly confused about the fact he could ride a Pidgeotto. Alicia in turn quirked an eyebrow before quickly jabbing a thumb over at Tikani. âI mean, I shouldnât be able to ride a Bayleef, but here we are? Snap up a Grass type mod and the Gardener Class and youâre good to go.âAnd then she hummed softly, biting her lower lip. â⌠Actually, now that I think about it, wouldnât you be able to if you had a younger avatar too? A young enough kid probably would fit on a Pidgeottoâs back.â{Final Breakdown}Tikani (Bayleef) - Tank - 205/400 Damage Taken: 58 (58 Supersonic Skystrike [Weakness]) Josh Devlin
