"...and that's why the federal reserve is illegal, and the government has been aiding and abetting in actively destroying the economy to disenfranchise the working class back into serfdom."
Jesus Christ MOM.
Orion did his best to not lose his faith in humanity as he sat in Mom's living room and sipped tea with her. For a myriad of reasons that had recently come into his life he was finding himself suffering some rather complex emotions, a large chunk of them deriving from the absence of his own mother in his life, so as sad as it was he had chosen to spend some time with an incredibly digitally realistic facsimile. Which on paper sounds rather pathetic, honestly. But whatever wozniaks they had squirreled away in the dev team of Hydance were apparently just savants at creating real to earth personalities and perfectly imitating realistic interpersonal interactions.
If you were willing to glance past the asinine amount of...weird shit that also left her mouth on occasion, that is.
It was like an uncanny horseshoe, really, equal parts incredibly real and unrealistic she could be. But the real parts, the soft, idyllic, motherly archetypal aspects of motherhood itself. The unconditional love offered simply by virtue of your own existence? UNOVR was practically sitting on the cure a solid chunk of mental illness right fucking here.
Or perhaps the most fucked up drugs that grabbed you by your heart and held it in an iron grip.
Anyways, time spent with MOM was a nice respite despite her penchant of conspiracy theories. And the tea was definitely the most tea of all time, not that Orion really had any baseline to compare it to as his normal lifestyle did not indulge in leaf water. Yet as his therapy session winded its way through an afternoon that could be better spent doing other things, like unfucking his life for instance, he couldn't help but have a nagging feeling.
Well his mind was practically full of the fuckers nowadays, wriggly little worms that loved to pop up at the most inconvenient of times. Yet the real alpha chad of the worm pile right now was a more prescient and pressing pondering. It was on that sigma male grind occupying his cerebral real estate with obnoxious relentlessness. MOM was a lovely woman, but this house had someone else who lived in it as well. A woman by the name of Ruby, who was perhaps a bit of a...cryptid of UNOVR. Theories abounded about this mystery woman who treated just about every player in the North American Server that crossed the threshold into MOM's communal home like a sibling. Most accounts regaled her as the perfectly ideal sister for the most part. Like the wizards had made lightning strike twice, but this second lightning strike wasn't trying to tell you about chemicals in the water turning frogs gay.
Or, what if the lightning wasn't lightning.
No wizards managed to carve sentience into silicon for this woman! This was not the work of metal mined in scarce deposits from the most of remote parts of earth, then worked into a thin disk by highly skilled artisans. Nobody had woven the secret magics that gave the rock the ability to think, or form thoughts, or draw vaguely uncanny pictures of cats with a sixpack that cluttered pinterest. No, behind this woman was allegedly...a woman! Presumably, though it could be a dude, or maybe someone who identifies as female? That wasn't the point, the great debate was whether or not the infamous sister that just about everybody who'd ever played the game in North America knew was a real person or not. Countless people have sightings of her, and she seemed to be a constant fixture to the game. Sure, sometimes she wandered around out in the routes, which was atypical for NPCs, but stranger things had happened. Most NPCs didn't participate in raids, but most players weren't handed the keys to a shiny new dream kingdom either. The list went on and on, and Orion's head was swimming as he dwelt on it. The perfect enigma for him to work on solving.
Enigma?
Holy shit, he needed to perform a fucking Turing Test. Orion's eyes widened as he bolted to his feet. "Shit Ma that's fucking crazy, remind me to build a pipe bomb and send it to my local bank later. Anyways, I love you but I need to go pester Rubes about uh...something the prof asked us to do. Do you know where she is?"
"She hasn't been by in a bit hun, I think she's off on an adventure." Mom retorted, eyes bright with pride at Orion's threat of domestic terror. "Have you tried calling her?"
"Uh...yeah. I'll do that." Orion bent over and placed a kiss upon MOM's forehead. "Love ya Ma, smell ya later." With that he turned and rushed out the house. One fast travel later he stood above the precipice shrine again. What was once a spooky hole that went to nowhere before snapping your knees and respawning you at the top of the shrine was now a spooky GLOWING hole that went SOMEWHERE instead. In theory he could have fast traveled into the dream world, but jumping into the previously bottomless hole was part of the magic. With a graceful flip, Orion pirouetted through the air stylishly into the glowing purple void and landed gracefully on the marbled tile of the Dream Palace after a five minute sky diving mini game (New PB Lets go). As he righted himself he would fish through his inventory before pulling out his Articuno Egg, part of hatching it did involve being here after all, and if nothing else he could use it as a pretense to mask his true intentions.
"YO RUBES!" Orion called out with a loud bark. "YOU WANNA HELP ME BECOME A SINGLE FATHER?"

#s://i~imgur~com/QuIo3YX~png Queen Rubella often didn't take naps within the Dream Palace itself, but when she did it was almost akin to heaven. Her pillows were next to perfection, the temperature in the room flawless, several of her Pokémon acting as the best cuddle buddies the world had ever known.
In fact, it was such a peaceful afternoon that she had no intention of getting out of her royal chambers anytime soon.
A yawn erupted from her Komala that stirred her further to proper consciousness, although it really was debatable if her naps within this realm were truly a state of sleep, or if she was just believing that she was actually asleep and that mindset inspired silly stories to play out in her mind.
Or perhaps, they actually did happen before she just returned to her bed when she 'woke.' It was a little hard to tell the truth in this realm. She was well familiar with how easy it was to imagine yourself as someone else and to firmly believe it. Simply believing she was asleep, in a realm where you were technically always asleep. The thought debate echoed in her mind even as she slowly clambered to her feet.
As she stepped up out of the bed, her Munna let out a soft noise that drew her attention. It was currently cuddling amidst three different eggs that sat perfectly still atop pillows atop her bed.
One egg perfectly spherical, pitch black and gently tucked partially beneath a blanket so that it could enjoy the darkness that it often rolled towards.
Another egg that was ice-cold, mist slowly swirled across the surface of the egg. Unmistakably a descendant of King Articuno's.
And the last, a small little light-blue egg, far smaller than the others.
"Good morning, little ones." Ruby spoke, moving around to pat the eggs. "I know not when thee shall hatch, but thine should know my patience is unending." Her words were certainly far more old-english than typical, spending time with the King was certainly influencing her language, not that she minded.
"YO RUBES!" A voice suddenly broke her serene moment of peace, having her head twist around to the door of her chambers. She recognized that voice, but she wasn't exactly expecting visitors.
"Mur?" Her Munna began to slowly float upwards, only for Ruby to just smile and shake her head.
"Stay here, darling. I'll call for you when I need you. Watch over the other sleeping beauties." She'd give a smile, and simply pick up the Articuno Egg into her arms, cradling it gently as her attire slowly shifted into that of her signature Kimono. The Crown Jewels began floating about her head as she slowly moved towards the door and opened it. "I'll take this one with me, they should see more of the palace, their home. Perhaps then, they shall hatch."
Only to not appear outside a door at the other side.
Within the Palace itself, she'd appear as if walking through a stained-glass window, one that showcased the moment she and Articuno were both crowned again. Floating on soft pink clouds, she took slow steps down them as if they were stairs, vanishing from behind her. Her bedroom hidden within the window all along.
As soon as she saw Orion standing with his own Articuno egg however, a wide smile immediately spread across her face. "Salutation, Duke Cayge." She greeted him warmly, her tone soft and slightly teasing. Nobody needed to go by those names or titles anymore, but it only felt appropriate at times. There was nothing wrong with playing pretend when it was at your own desires.
"It is a pleasure to see you once more, I have not seen you since, what, the Wishtaker perhaps? How have you been?" She'd chuckle quietly, gently lifting her own egg aloft in her arms. "Although, it seems today not be solely a social visit then? You wish to become like a father to the child of the lord of dreams, correct? I know not how to help, as one can see my own egg has yet to blossom, but I am willing to listen."

Dramatic ass cutscene esk entrance? Speaking in ye old english? Calling him a Duke? All of these were little tally's in a mental column in his mind palace labeled "Shit that proves Ruby is a robot". Smiling as she approached, Orion would make a flashy show of offering her a deep bow, one arm cradling his fragile package gingerly to his chest while the other made a wide swooshing motion.
"Your Grace,"
The words left his lips in a smooth and regal baritone, easily sliding back into the make pretend fantasy of being a duke once more. As if sensing his desires, his outfit shifted back into the luminous and regal armor he'd once donned in these halls, a crown of flame appearing on his head as his muscles swelled to a bulk that only existed in those absurd fighting manga.
"The days escape me, but I believe your memory is correct. Our last venture together was to hunt that damnable wish thief, and restore the hope to all of those who'd ever wished upon a star or a well, or perhaps even an airplane. I mean, I know I could really use a wish right now eh?" The theater of it all was quite fun, of the myriad bizarre and esoteric activities that Orion had been shanghaied into as a young man, he'd never caught the bus on picking up Dungeons and Dragons, but he imagined this was kinda the gist of it. It was like Game of Thrones, but not bad. Plus the subtle reference to the famous song Airplanes by BYOB was a clever ruse. If she bit the hook he would know she knew the song, and that would prove she was human, no?
"You would be correct about the nature of my visit, though just because I come with an agenda does not mean it isn't a social visit. Can a Duke not visit his lovely little sister in her realm and take steps towards paternity together?" A light chuckle would escape his lips as he shook his head. "But as for the nature of our predicament... I sought out a...wizard named...Wikia. They gave me a prophecy, a set of instructions on how to hatch each of the legendary birds that I have been charged with raising as my wards until they are ready to contest for the thrones of the forebearers."
He did his best to keep a straight face as he spoke, not betraying the meta of him going online after trying to puzzle it out. He and Bee had succeeded in such a task once before with the birth of Space Jam the Man, but that had been a fluke and this broken squirrel couldn't find his nut twice a day when watched in the woods. If she called him out, well, that was as much a smoking gun as her being able to click all the squares containing a bike in his eyes.
"The prophecy goes like this..." He'd make a show of clearing his throat. "Firstly though must returnith thine egg to the it's nest, starting the fools journey in the proverbial cave so to speak. Once reunited with the source of it's power, the spark of divinity must be tempered and forged into a soul worthy of a god. You must raise your voice in hymns thrice, offering it words of comfort and praise! Thrice must the child be baptized in the ichor of its creations, and thus the soul of the babe is ready to be birthed to this world. Once this is done, the child will awaken when peril is present and necessity acts as a surrogate mother." Having said his piece, the Duke would tut slightly.
"I have puzzled some of the meaning together, but sought your wisdom in deciphering such an esoteric message, I consider you a bit of an expert on all things Articuno."

The references to pop culture went straight over her head, leaving her only wondering why one would even wish upon an airplane. Was it a simple mistake presuming it to be a shooting star? Regardless, she just chuckled softly at his words as she continued to listen to him speak.
His pauses when he mentioned a Wizard named Wikia gave had her raising an eyebrow in curiosity, but didn't interrupt. A prophecy, instructions to hatch his own eggs. How curious. She had seen a few people hatch their own eggs, but she quite frankly didn't know how it happened.
She took a few mental notes, humming in thought. Returning the egg to the shrine, comforting the egg, and... baptized? She didn't fully follow, slowly pursing her lips in thought as she gently hugged the egg in her hands a little bit closer. "Well, I must admit, only some of this prophecy makes sense to me. If one is to hatch a God, one clearly can not rush the process neither. For a God shall come into their existence as they will it. I picture this as a... manner of convincing, perhaps? To encourage them to exist and become more than whatever primal aspects their soul inhabits before it is made flesh and bone."
She hums in thought, slowly moving to sit down where she stood. Almost as if it was always there, a massive pillow seat formed beneath her in the blink of an eye. Ruby just lets the egg rest atop her lap, gently brushing her fingers along its shell. "I suppose we shall see. I picture nothing more appropriate than for a child of dreams to be hatched within these halls."
"However, my own eggs have yet to hatch, despite their long time within this realm. I have long since accepted that the three eggs entrusted to me shall hatch upon their own time, and I would not intentionally impose peril upon them to hasten hatching, as implied by said Prophecy. It is quite plausible that you understand how to hatch an egg more than I do." She'd let out a long sigh, slowly looking down at the egg. Her hand would gently cradle it, her smile softening dramatically.
"That said... if this is to be a social visit as well, I ask of you a question plaguing my own mind lately. What of the realms beyond the seas?" Ruby would finally look up at her virtual sibling as she spoke. "I have only made the journey once, to that ruined bastion of mankind. Has any progress been made in the seemingly eternal quest to rid the world of Corruption?"
She genuinely didn't know, no knowledge of what story developments have occurred unless she was informed. It wasn't as if she could read people's records of quests online anywhere, she had to hear everything directly. "I know you are incredibly capable in combat, I watched the whole conflict with Zapdos from my throne, you know. Have you, yourself, discovered anything?"

Damn, the wizard Wikia was a dud huh?
Orion did his best not to let his face betray any disappointment, his features resting at their natural relaxed semi smirk state as they continued to speak. If there was any surprise about how easily she managed to shift reality within this realm. After all, it was HER realm after all, one she ruled alongside King Articuno who was likely the suspect for why she suddenly sounded like she was doing her best Game of Thrones impression. Was she role playing? Or was she an NPC? The questions remained unanswered yet, and frankly he was unsure how he would possibly manage to weasel a definitive truth from this situation.
"Wizards tend to be...peculiar people. The pursuit of magic oft makes even the most hardened of minds go mad. Some lose themselves to power, others lose themselves to the strain it puts on their sanity. Either way, with these words as our map we can forge our way to a future where we walk hand in hand with our powerful partners and banish the darkness from this land once and for all."
At her inquiry about Ostellia he would simply shake his head. "Ostellia continues to yield more mysteries than answers as of yet. My crusades have been ceaseless, but tiring as I explore the guts of such a fallen empire. But from what I have gathered, both from seeing with my own eyes and through the tales of others..." Trailing off he would click his tongue. "Something attacked that town, and while they appeared to have repelled it, what followed in its wake seems to be the reason the city is empty. I have my theories that they destroyed some sort of monster, but in it's death throes it unleashed something upon the land. My hunch is that this might yet be the source of the corruption, and by understanding how it was born we might be able to find out how it will truly die."
That was...a stretch, he knew, but he was holding out hope that by choosing the route they had, they would find a way to truly fight off the corruption.
"Aside from what happened to the city, I have discovered that the city is devoid of your traditional pokemon. The routes are empty of anything you would traditionally recognize, instead they are filled with strange alien creatures that some have take to calling an invasive species. These beasts are exceptionally powerful, wielding a power that is both similar to that of a pokemon, and also entirely different. I have watched these beasts wage war with the corruption, and it seems like they do a rather handy job at both putting them down and warding away any side effects of the blight. These creatures might yet serve as allies in the upcoming battles, but as you might know several of us are blessed with the ability to talk to Pokemon. These beasts, while seemingly capable of speech, do not speak in any language I have ever heard of before. It is likely we will need to bridge that gap first and foremost."

#s://i~imgur~com/QuIo3YX~png Ruby once again listened calmly to his words, nodding along. Something had attacked the city? A potential source of the corruption? It sounded odd that where the source began, is also where it was free of corruption. But if they truly did repel it back then, then perhaps it wasn't so odd after all?
Feeling a bit of nerves, she slowly brushed her fingers down the shell of the cool egg. Such a terrifying world to be born into, and yet so exciting all the same.
She wasn't part of this world, she knew that. And yet... she was invested in a way she couldn't really comprehend anymore. She wasn't on the front lines, but her job was still special. The Dream World needed to exist, it needed protecting too.
Besides, she was good at talking to people, not fighting. Sticking with what she knew best wasn't a bad idea. After he finished speaking, politely waiting not to interrupt, Ruby would finally begin to speak herself.
"I am aware of these creatures you speak of. I have captured one myself, after it whipped up so much sand I must have made mud in my stomach. Although it-" She pauses, a soft frown slowly forming on her face. "It scares me, admittedly. I can't really make heads or tails of it."
With a wave of her hand, a shimmering mirage would swirl around them as her memory seemingly took over the scenery for a moment.
The Dune District, sand rising as a Celesteela burst from the ground below. Powerfully whipping up roots from the ground, and then sand as its rocket-like thrusters roared to life. Eventually felled by the combined efforts of her Munna and a friendly Piplup before it falls and collapses like a falling building as the mirage suddenly fades, and the Palace is just as it always was. Constantly changing, but the same.
"I was informed, that it is an Ultra Beast?" She mumbles softly, continuing to gently rub the Articuno egg, as if to comfort herself. "Said to be from another dimension. If one other dimension exists, perhaps the Corruption came from another?" She shrugged, not confident in the theory before simply returning her full attention to Orion.
"But, uh, ahem." She suddenly cleared her throat, feeling a little flustered for a second. "I've never spoken to my Pokémon, as the rest of our siblings have done so freely, or any Pokémon for that matter. King Articuno being the only exception, given our unique bond." Surely, all she'd have to do is flip the switch in her settings. But, after this long? Being within UNOVR for over two years, and never activating it?
Her expression shifted for a bit, seeming more contemplative as she looked down at the egg. Originally, she just wanted the same experience as any other inhabitant in this world. But if they could speak, and she was missing out on what they said, what was she to do? Was it the wrong choice to leave it deactivated? She had communicated with them just well enough so far, but if she had the option to listen to her new friends, and simply chose not to? How rude was that? What if they had concerns, questions, thoughts and feelings they couldn't express with simple mumbles of their name? What then?
This world was so beautiful, but the implications of everything was so terrifying sometimes. She could only imagine what the Doctors back at VMT must be getting from their studies.
Queen Rubella hummed in thought for a moment, her frown only growing despite her best efforts to not let it show. "... What is it like, speaking to them? Or, I suppose I should be more accurate, what are they like? Your Pokemon friends? I apologize, I know we are drifting in conversation, but I can't help but ask. I fear that- Well, I've never wondered before, even though I feel like I should have."

"Yeah, Ultrabeasts."
At what point does talking to an AI stop being talking to a machine and become you just talking to...a metal person? As the two spoke, and more importantly as Orion probed her further for any tell that she might be human or not, did the fighter begin to feel an increasing sense of guilt begin to build up in his chest. What did it matter if she was an NPC or not? It wasn't like it was going to change his relationship with her. To him all the people of this world might as well be real human beings with their own hopes and dreams.
Yet as she wandered topics over to the topic of Pokémon speech, he couldn't help but fall back into the thrill of speculation, no matter how sour a taste it put in his mouth. That would be the silver bullet, all he had to do was find out if they were capable of talking to Pokémon and it would be checkmate.
"Well...my team is pretty chill. I've got like Achilles and he's always been my champ, ya know? He's always super hype, think like any professional wrestler you've ever seen, like maybe the macho man randy savage? Then there's Hades and he's real chill, he's always kinda lookin like he's half asleep and talkin like he's stoned out of his gourd. Ares is large and in charge, he's big n loud and loves to talk shit to people when he's fighting. They..." He paused, smiling softly.
"They're like a family to me, and they're always working with me to make sure we're all making it through the fight together...I can't imagine not being able to speak to them..." He'd gently reach over and put a hand on her shoulder, his smile turning into a reassuring grin.
"While I'm sure you might have your reasons for blocking out their voices...I would say that you should try to open your heart to them and let your team in. This world is so much more beautiful when wandered with companions whom which your passions align, and do they not have a right to your ear if they are fighting your battles? It is never too late to start working on a better future."

#s://i~imgur~com/QuIo3YX~png Achilles, Hades, Ares, she tried her best to memorize these names but without any faces to put with them it wasn't the easiest. At least she could presume to follow the same Mythology theme, at least.
But then, it seemed like Orion read her mind. Reasons for blocking their voices? How in the world could he have known? Was it something about this place, that made her thoughts reality? She didn't think so, but she couldn't help but frown regardless.
She just slowly stared into the distance, holding her egg gently. Her fingers brushing against the smooth shell, as if to calm her nerves and settle her thoughts. She didn't reply for a few moments, trying to focus.
"I-" Ruby started, only to sputter and have her words fail her. She sighed softly, standing back up to her feet as if that might somehow help. "Orion, it feels like you've given this speech before. That this is not the first time you have attempted to convince someone to speak to their Pokémon. I ask simply what they are like, and you come to me talking about a better future."
She finally laughed quietly, but her anxiety didn't quite melt away like she had hoped. "I- I don't know if I can, Orion."
For perhaps a second, it seemed like she was unable to speak to them because she was an NPC. And yet, she continued on, finally shedding at least some amount of light of the truth. "For all that I understand of the mind, of the depths of our emotions and the thoughts that we think every single day. The ins and outs of psychology, how people tick. I am... horribly inept socially."
"I suppose, it has been selfish of me." She frowns even deeper, slowly looking away from her friend. "Intelligent beings that can understand my words and emotions, but without the complexities of social interaction? I suppose I thought of it as a blessing. They're such sweethearts, always looking after me. And yet, here I come to understand that... That I've been taking advantage of that. I've been neglecting their own emotional needs, wants and desires, even if that was never my intent. It still happened, and I can't pretend that it hasn't."
She's quiet for a few moments more, letting out a very long sigh again. Ruby's eyes finally flicker over to Orion's, a question on her lips. "Can, you talk to them for me? Real quick? I can lead you to my room, where they are resting."

"Ah,"
Orion clicked his tongue and snapped his fingers, a light shade of red spreading across his face like the early morning rays of dawn. "Sorry bout that, the one and only rightful Prof and the rest of the uh..." A silence filled the air while Orion searched for a proper word. "The uh...team so to speak. Ever since the whole thing with Zapdos I've been thinking a lot about the future, about the world we live in, and what we can do to make it better, ya know? And all of that thinking has me feelin jittery, like I'm jonsin for some change, like I need my fix of fixin this world? So here you come askin me something in the same zipcode as what I wanna talk about and..." he'd motion between them like 'well, here we are.'
He would listen to her, as she continued and lamented her plight to him, nodding along silently as she spoke, his gaze unwavering as he listened to her more and more. The picture was beginning to unfold, and her guilt was more than readable in her eyes. Softly he would raise one hand up and place it on her shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.
"Im always willing to help out my favorite little sister of mine."
A soft wink and a winning smile were offered to her, alongside a theatrical bow as if to embrace the majesty and decorum of Duke Cayge. "In exchange, I would ask that you try and open your heart to them yourself. To listen to what they're saying to you, even if you cannot hear the words they speak. Not all communication is verbal, and sometimes you don't have to say anything to say everything."

#s://i~imgur~com/QuIo3YX~png Ever since Zapdos.
To think that one choice, one day, one event, would change so much for the world. Articuno was right. A delta.
Queen Rubella would slowly stand to her feet, hands cradling her egg so close, as if it could hear her heart beat. Hear how her heart beat so fast, the dream of actually, truly bonding with her Pokémon for real was almost too much. It was admittedly hard to keep herself from tearing up, overcome with emotions.
The Dream World really only embraced your emotions, amplifying them. It was a collective dreamscape, after all. None of it was real, but it was almost more real because of that.
She... supposed that was probably important to write down for VMT's studies. And yet right now? She couldn't even think about doing so.
Her "Real" job could wait. Not today.
"I promise, I will try."
She'd lead Orion up to her chambers, walking towards the stained glass window before stairs formed of pink clouds from nowhere, as if they had always been there. She'd calmly lead him up towards the window, only to press right through it, like walking through a mirror into another dream.
And inside, was the picture-perfect vision of a Disney Princess's bedroom.
Incredibly ornate furniture filled the chamber, pink wood with beautifually inlaid silver metal shimmering like water in waves. But the middle of the room rested an absolutely massive bed, filled with blankets and pillows of all kinds. It was as if everywhere you looked, you'd somehow find something else, something new. Like a sea of bedding that constantly changed, infinite cool pillows. Six different Pokemon of hers all cuddled up in the middle of the bed, making themselves incredibly comfortable. Two other eggs remained atop the bed as well, one spherical covered in darkness, and one very simple, small blue egg.
Faye the Fennkin laid at the foot of the bed, legs splayed out. Their ears twitched as Ruby and her guest stepped back into the chamber, eye opening slightly. [tangent="You brought guests to bed? Scandalous."]"Fen?"[/tangent]
Next to them, an adorable Eevee was laid completely asleep, as much as one could sleep, when one was already asleep in the world of dreams. They were pressing up against a Komala, still clutching his log. The Komala was always asleep, but maybe it didn't need to be in its own dreams? Did it know anything different? Ruby certainly didn't know, but maybe one day in the Dream World she'd attempt to wake them.
A Munna laid across the pillows at the top of the bed, rolling over as soon as Ruby came in. [tangent="Don't be like that, gross. They have the same mom."]"Muuur."[/tangent]

However, the two remaining Pokémon were certainly awake, and deep in conversation. They didn't seem to notice right away when Ruby walked back into the room. Two Indeedee, a Male and Female, sitting next to each other on the bed, idly holding hands as they spoke to each other.
[tangent="Ruby doesn't travel as much as she used to, does she?"]"Dee?"[/tangent]
[tangent="You noticed it too? I think she has something on her mind lately. She's been writing in her research documents a lot lately." ]"Indee? Deedee." [/tangent]
[tangent="You didn't read them, did you?"]"Deedee?"[/tangent]
[tangent="She wrote them right next to me! Of course I had to look a little bit, I was worried for her! I think she's worried what the Doctors will discover."]"Dee! Indeed, deedee."[/tangent]
The Male started to speak up again in response, only to finally notice Ruby and Orion. They paused their conversations, despite being fully aware that Ruby couldn't understand them. The two only ever gossiped when they were alone, anyhow. It was polite that way.
Two little waves were given from their free hands, never letting go of each other.
"W-well? Here we are." Ruby would speak with a soft, nervous voice, slowly moving to place the egg in her hands back down onto the bed, entirely unaware of the conversations depth that she couldn't hear. "What do you think, Orion? Did you... um, hear them already? I have no idea how it works."

Orion followed after her quietly, a combination of reverence for the beauty of the dream palace and a lack of words for this particular moment in time. It was a tricky thing, what he was engaging in. He had no clue if this was an NPC or not, but he was beginning to get the feeling that something else was afoot. Call it a hunch, intuition, or perhaps just a sharp sense of deduction, but something didn't smell right and he never left home without a few spritzes of the smell goods.
The world itself seemed keen to betray her emotions, it was a rather interesting quirk of this nebulous and ethereal world. The beauty of the unreal real, or was it the real unreal? Under the pretenders influence it had been a sinister and dark influence, something that clawed at your mind and warped you into what IT wanted you to be, but now the world melded to what you wanted it to. Perhaps that was a testament to Ruby's good nature, or perhaps it was something else, he had no way of knowing for certain.
But he liked to have a little faith it was the good nature of his sister.
It was weird, Orion had always wanted a sibling. Sure, Eddie was like a brother to him, and the cousins were his cousins but...Duchess Rubella had quickly and quietly wormed her way into his heart as a member of his family despite the few interactions they'd had. Perhaps it was her proximity to MOM, a transitive property of his aching for a maternal figure that had allowed him to accept the digital dame so easily. Or perhaps it was just the pure and honest nature that she seemed to wear on her sleeve, a less violent kindred spirit.
Either way, as they entered the bedroom he would take a look around, smirk on his lips. It seemed almost cliché, but at the same time so wonderfully picturesque. It seemed wonderfully comfortable, and a the soft plush bedding made his eyes feel ever so slightly heavier just looking at them. Then he noticed the mon, and his smile grew. What a wonderful home she'd created for herself and her mon.
Their chatter tickled his ears, a smirk crossing his lips at the first interaction. But the two Indeedee, well, that was an interesting little snippet to catch indeed it would seem.
"My girlfriend would kill me if I hopped into bed with my sister." he would quip at the fox, smile on his lips as he reached down and scratched her ears. "And MOM would hardly ever approve I'd imagine." A snicker would escape his lips as he'd turn to look at Rubela.
"This one says its scandalous that you've brought me to bed." He waggled a brow teasingly at her. "Your Munna chided them on being gross." Taking a seat on the edge of the bed he'd motion to the twin mons.
"These two are worried about you. They think you're not getting out of the house enough so to speak, and you've been writing notes about...doctors?" He'd raise a brow. "I...know it might not be my place but...are you okay Rubes?" His gaze found hers, his blue eyes gentle yet commanding her attention as he spoke. "I don't know your deal but...as your 'brother' I'm here to listen to whatever's going on. If you're sick, hurt, whatever, you can talk to me about it." After a simple beat, he would let her gaze go and turn to the mon.
"Rubes has asked me to come talk to you all. To listen to anything you have to say to her, and to pass her words on to you all. I'm not sure if you lot understand her as things are...I've never NOT talked to pokemon before. But I am here, to help bridge that gap."
