bug-catching in the forest

"Sounds like you've been having a good time." Furrlicity grinned as he walked beside Finnegan Fjord, listening intently to his friends's stories. The sandwich did seem sad, and also weird, so he pulled a face. That bread looked horrible. He had a right to judge it.

He hoped he didn't sound patronizing. Chu-e, behind the screen, was happy that his best friend had managed to find something he liked to do. Well, more than fighting and whatever other probably illegal shit he got to doing. Cillian looked better when he was smiling.

"I've not done very much. Did some Tutorial quests and got lost in the woods. I did catch a pokemon, though."

He went to grab the pokeball so he could show the Treeko off, but frowned when his hand went right through the ball. It made a clicking noise, like it couldn't decide what to do. Furrlicity rolled his eyes and tried again- it just resulted in the pokeball clipping into the model of his hand.

"Is that supposed to happen?"

"I'm glad." It's said in that kind of just-shy-of-sentimental way that might make them both a little uncomfortable. Chu-e really does hold Cillian close as a dear friend to him, even if they started out a bit rocky. They just clicked together and understood each other. Cil knew that Chu-e had a hard time expressing himself in a genuine way and didn't expect it of him. It made when he really tried, like now, something rare and indulgent. It also made him feel nervous and exposed, so he was quick to pull attention away from it.

"Maybe." He does just what Finnegan Fjord says, opening his menu. He selects the Pokeball of his Treecko, then drags it out of the digital screen with purpose. It ends up teleporting to the tip of his finger before plopping to the ground between them. Leaning over, he tries to grab at it again.

Like before, his hand just clips through it.

"Well. Any other ideas?"

The grass rustled. Whatever was inside was getting impatient with them.
