[ti]closed[/ti][S][C/OCTAGON] Josh's First Flight

At last, a Pokémon that wouldn't completely cook Xira. While he didn't recognize the species, Josh didn't care; any Pokémon would at this point trigger the "clink" of the experience bar. He felt bad invading the clearly tired bird's space, but he wasn't passing this opportunity up. Josh was known for a lot, but not patience.

"Xira, use your BUG BUZZ!"

The Yanmega took to the sky and loudly churned his wings, compressing the air around him and causing everything around him to vibrate madly. Even Josh felt the shockwave pound against his skin. As the giant insect executed the attack, he saw the pop-up he was waiting for:

Once the cacophonous droning ceased and Xira landed, Josh embraced the Yanmega before hastily clambering into the saddle. He was ready to fly!

Information> To cause your Pokémon to take off, flick the reins in both your hands, much like you would command a Pokémon to jump. Give it a try!

It seemed simple enough; when he thought about it, Yanmega wouldn't need a running start to get in the air. It was certainly convenient, and would no doubt be valuable for flying in tight spaces... if such an area would let him. He had already been to some areas where riding a Pokémon was not allowed. Most of them made sense, but some didn't. "Alright, Xira, let's fly!" the boy excitedly ordered, flicking the reins as instructed. The bug-type's wings began to loudly drone, a tingling sensation making his hair stand as vibrations coursed through him.

This was already an out-of-body experience, and they were just hovering! The young one had to turn down his sound volume in his settings, too; as it turned out, sitting mere feet from giant wings buzzing invisibly fast was quite noisy. Once he had hovered for a few seconds, he was met with the next lesson.

Information> Pokémon that can hover have the unique ability to fly in any direction while facing any direction. By default, pulling on your Pokémon's reins will control your flight direction, and shifting your body weight will control its facing direction. You can invert these controls from the Options menu. Would you like to invert these controls now?

Wait, he could independently control facing direction and flying direction? Josh was used to always swimming or flying forward. This was getting complicated; excessively so. He was debating canceling the tutorial and hopping off Xira as the game prompted him for a decision. Maybe even pawning the Yanmega off to a trade shop.

Xira responded to Josh's command to speed up, zipping forward with hardly a need to accelerate. The force pushed Josh back in his seat, glad the Yanmega wore a cocoon saddle. Without the stability of leather all the way up to his waist, the young child would have fallen and ended up seriously hurt. It didn't alleviate the vibrations, though, those growing more intense from the higher speed. Having been on a motorcycle once, it felt much like what he remembered of the experience... only this one flew.

Happy with the speed he had reached, the tutorial advanced to its final part. He expected landing to be complex, but it was simple enough.

Information> To land, simply hover in place and drop your Pokémon's altitude to the ground. As your mount's lets touch the ground, it will land automatically. Easy, isn't it?

Phew, that was easy. It seemed simple enough. All he would need to do was drop his speed enough for the dragonfly to start hovering again...
