Okay, today was not going to be a day for fishing.
He knew that the other guy in the race mentioned something about ‘taking this thing out of a certain place’ but what he was not expecting was the fact that he would have to make the trek himself—he knew he had several capable companions who would gladly assist him for this trip, however holy hellballs on a stick, what was up with this place?!
He looked around—Hanzo the Greninja by his side.
‘So you’ve decided on doing this alone?’
“Do I look like I have any other choice?”
‘Well…’
He’d tried poking several people about coming out here, however they were all either offline or doing something else—why did his playtime hours have to be erratic?!
he is insane for doing this alone, but what else is there?!

‘Now that you mention it.’
“What?” he would blink owlishly, wondering why his Greninja was being chatty all of a sudden.
‘You come by at the strangest times. Is this… is this because of what you do outside of here?’
“Oh, you mean outside of this world?” he would confirm, momentarily balking and wondering how he would explain this to the other. How was this going to make sense, anyways? He sighed and turned away for a little bit.
‘Was… was it something I said?’
“No, I was just… thinking.”
How was he going to explain this to Hanzo, anyway?

Before he could turn to reply to Hanzo, the Greninja had hissed a warning that made him snap out of his thoughts—while it wasn’t the insanely-sized rocket ship of a Pokémon that the other man had brought along to the race, this was…
What was this?!
He only knew about the Pokédex until Volcanion; anything Generation Seven and onwards was mostly beyond his reach, so there was that to consider.
A surprise burst of cannon-fire water in the form of a Hydro Pump came from the Greninja’s mouth; alerting him that whatever… whatever this that had come screaming out of the sky had no business being here!
‘Get out of the way!’ he would hear the Greninja yelp; and he would do that a few moments later as he dived low to the ground while the dual-type engaged with that… that was a ridiculously huge stinger!

The panic had rattled him to his very core; however fact of the matter here was that his Greninja was now locked in a very ferocious battle with… with whatever this was, and he had no idea how to contend with such a—
‘Stay back! I’ve got this!’ the frog-ninja would warn him, and he continued to watch from his prone position on the ground in a silent, shocked manner as the two exchanged blows—
“Be careful for whatever that thing is on it’s ass!” he would warn the Greninja back as the purple-and-pink beast took a swiping attempt at jabbing its rear end in the dual-type’s direction.
‘No need to tell me twice!’ the Greninja would reply back; switching gears and closing the distance with a risky maneuver—a Night Slash attack!
Back to the matter at hand—how was he going to tell Hanzo about his strange job, and the even stranger circumstances that came along with it?!

How do I tell him, how do I tell him? Wait, hold up—how do they know what to ask?
These thoughts were swirling inside his head, unbidden, as he continued to watch the two trade blows—him very nearly wincing as the ‘stinger’ on whatever this… whatever this Pokémon was (was what his Greninja fighting even a Pokémon?) almost cleaved the dual-type in half.
Alright, that’s it, I’m going to look into the other generations beyond Kalos after this! he would make a mental note to himself as the Greninja switched from close-range to long-range once again, blasting another Hydro Pump towards the strange beast in order to put as much distance between himself and the oddity as much as possible!
“You’ve got this!” he cheered from the sidelines—honestly, it was the only thing he could do at this point because Hanzo had taken matters into his own hands—flippers—whatever the Greninja’s appendages were called as the two continued to trade blows; him even realizing that the dual-type was now slinging Water Shuriken like a madman as the strange creature chased after him!

‘Whatever this beast is, it’s one tough cookie!’
He would look up from his private musings; still indecisive on how he was going to tell Hanzo about his daytime job of being a delivery rider when he saw a blur of blue come close to where he was.
“How bad is it?”
‘I’ve managed to avoid getting stinged by that stupid thing on its back? The rear end? You mentioned it was on its ‘ass’?’
“Do you need help, or are you okay with handling this on your own?” he would backtrack; because there were signs of strain on the Greninja’s face, which the dual-type then banished.
‘I can handle this,’ he would reassure the other.
“Just don’t kill yourself doing it!” he would warn the Greninja as the Pokémon leapt back into battle, him watching helplessly as the two met in the middle of battle once again; a Hydro Pump clashing against the gigantic stinger that the beast wielded with expert potency.

Caution would override the healthy sense of danger that he had, and in a flash of red light he would summon his Dipplin; watching as the sticky goo would slither all over the place before he tilted his head in the general direction where the Greninja was fighting.
“Hydra… I know this is asking too much, but can you help Hanzo? I know you can—you’ve got that move that can slow things down, right? I remember you used that in our little sparring match versus Josh Devlin, that would definitely come in handy now!”
The sentient fruit Pokémon would blink at him for a few moments, before nodding their head—heads?—and glopping their way towards where the Greninja was currently fighting.
Fighting for his life, and for his honor at the same time.
Once the two Pokémon were deployed, he would go back to his interrupted train of thought—how was he going to explain what his work entailed to the Greninja in a way the other would understand?
Was it possible that the Pokémon were aware of the passage of time when they, the player, weren’t around to accompany them on their journey?

He couldn’t help but second-guess himself; this was insane in so many ways.
The sounds of battle would reach him; and he was debating sending the Drakloak after the other two as well because… for some reason the Dipplin’s attacks were somewhat effective?
(Though, who could say?)
Much as he wanted to move from the current spot he was at, his Greninja had explicitly told him to stay out of the way; and all he could do right now was watch helplessly as the two Pokémon attempted to gang up on the one that was trying to sting the ever-loving daylights out of them.
“Please, be safe,” he would mutter under his breath as he already had his Drakloak’s Pokéball ready as well; just in case things went south for the two that was valiantly fighting for him right now.

The loud roaring from the Dipplin caught his attention as the Syrup Bomb connected, which allowed the Greninja to come in with another risky Night Slash attempt had him looking up from his private musing to watch what was happening.
“I don’t think this is safe for just the two of them anymore,” he would continue to himself, worry all over his features as he continued thumbing at the Drakloak’s Pokéball with apprehension as the ‘stinger’ on the purple beast’s body lashed out again.
“This battle is putting me on edge…” he added, pinching the bridge of his nose—something he very rarely did under duress.
Over where the two Pokémon were now tag-teaming the Naganadel, the ‘stinger’ jabbed out once more; both of them barely managing to avoid the incoming attack that came screaming their way!

Oh, how he hated being indecisive!
This was getting to be too much for him; and he was just about ready to throw the Drakloak out into danger (never mind if he couldn’t understand her speech patterns just yet because this particular Drakloak of his spoke at a thousand miles a minute without pause) when he saw a Dragon Breath coming from Hydra as the Dipplin attempted to mow down the ‘stinger’ that was about to send them flying!
A last-second Hydro Pump would come screaming their way; the Greninja already going through the throes of exhaustion before realizing that they were definitely at a disadvantage now…
Much as he wanted to give the order to retreat and they would come back later, the Dipplin refused, roaring once more and lashing out again with a Dragon Pulse attack this time around.
‘Hydra, what are you doing?!’ the Greninja would holler; never mind if the next attack was already bearing down on the Dipplin—yet the Dipplin stared, without fear or terror—right at the stinger as it came screaming down on the other dual-type out on the field.
“Hydra! What the fuck?! MOVE!” he would all but scream as the Naganadel’s stinger seemingly made contact with the fruit Pokémon…

He was hoping, hoping, hoping—
That his silent prayer wouldn’t be in vain; however fact of the matter was that… when he’d finally managed to pull himself up and off from where Hanzo the Greninja had told him to wait, he’d already thrown out his Drakloak to join the battle and—
And…
“HYDRA!” he would all but scream, making the mad dash over to where the Dipplin had been ‘cut’ down.
‘What are you doing?! Didn’t I tell you not to—’ the Greninja yelled back at him, before the Drakloak soared out from behind his back, screaming bloody murder as she threw her entire spectral body weight into a Dragon Rush attack straight at the strange, purple-colored beast.
(The good thing was that they were able to establish that this strange purple thing was weak to Dragon-type moves!)
“I don’t care! Hanzo, LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED TO HYDRA!” he would continue, the grief in his voice evident as he threw all caution out the window and scooped up the Dipplin into his trembling hands.
The sounds of battle caught the Greninja’s attention; before the Drakloak continued to scream, unintelligible gibberish escaping her mouth as the other dual-type rejoined the battle with another Hydro Pump.

The Drakloak, sensing her human’s emotion rising off him in waves, continued to attack and attack the Naganadel despite the strange purple-colored beast having already ‘fallen’ due to the force of her earlier Dragon Rush, still screaming gibberish and bloody murder at the damned thing that had taken out—taken out her fellow Dragon-type.
Over where Altair was, he was inconsolable.
“Hydra,” he continued, voice cracking, “I’m… I’m sorry…”
The Greninja had to stop the Drakloak from laying into the Naganadel because the beast had already been taken down, but she was not having any of it, no, not at all.
Only when the Greninja had bodily yanked his fellow Pokémon away from the Naganadel did she realize that the broken sound of crying was coming from—was coming from—
‘Ohno!’ was all she would blurt out—yes, she still spoke too quickly for her own good—before zooming over to where the white-haired human was now cradling the seemingly-shattered ‘apple’ in his hands.
“Hydra, you… why didn’t I… why didn’t I…” he would be heard to say, before sinking into muffled, broken crying.
“I’m… I’m s-sorry… I’m sorry I left you t-to die!”

The Greninja was trying his damndest hardest to hold back the Drakloak that wanted to continue beating up the passed-out Naganadel, however their human was still torn up about what had happened.
Did… when he ran for the Thunderfall Shrine earlier, did he glitch out of existence, or something? Surely not… since Hanzo and his Drakloak were still there.
No matter how hard he would cry, the Dipplin did not stir.
Shit, was he going to have to make a trip to the Everworld to get Hydra back at this rate…?
‘Letmeatthemletmeatthemletmeatthem!’ the Drakloak continued to scream, trying to fight her way free from the Greninja’s hold—never mind if she was speaking a thousand miles an hour, she was angry and wanted to cut a bitch!
‘We’ll have to wait and see what he does…’ the Greninja sighed, before collapsing out of exhaustion; he’d really pushed himself too far in that battle.
The noise washed over him; still holding the ‘sliced’ Dipplin—before what felt like an eternity later, he would pull himself up into a standing position.
“That… I’ll never forgive that fuck,” he hissed; walking past the two other Pokémon before pulling out the Golden Pokéball.
He would then throw it at the Naganadel’s prone body—for he was not one to deny an angry den mother’s whims.
At least someone could get their revenge later.
catch attempt on Jack Da… Naganadel!
