DUNGEON: MIDAS CORPbuy in, or sell out?
DescriptionWe begin on the upper floors of a shattered office building. The windows are glass-less and bent, broken long ago by debris or Pokemon. A maze of cubicles, hallways, and internal walls tangles the floor plan, creating an ancient labyrinth of corporate structures.
Before you stands a water-cooler, long since emptied. On it is posted a note written in highlighter and signed with a bloody handprint.
DON'T LET THEM CATCH YOU! A quest pop-up appears in the center of your vision as you fixate on the note.
QUICKTIME EVENT
LOOT THE OFFICE AND RUN. YOU HAVE 3 MINUTES
The crack of breaking concrete and the thunderous thrum of wings rip the air as a HORDE OF BUZZWOLE bust through the wall of the hallway behind you. You have mere seconds to pick your path and RUN RUN RUN!.
MECHANICS The objective of the dungeon is to escape the horde of Buzzwole chasing you.
Players start with two Pokemon. Each round, you must choose a direction to run: Left or Right. One of these paths will be safe! The other path will be deadly, and one of your Pokemon will be snatched by the pursuing Ultra Beasts.Picking a fatal path when you have no Pokemon left will end your run in the dungeon.
RISKS AND REWARDS This dungeon is linked to the story quest Abduction Hour, so any Pokemon lost during this dungeon will be abducted by invasive species. You will get this Pokemon back after the World Event scheduled for this August/September. This is a chance to deepen a bond with your Pokemon, and establish some strong motivation and stakes for the World Event, so pick your Pokemon with that in mind.
Each path will have an associated TYPE (fire, water, grass, etc). If the type of the route matches one of your TWO equipped subclasses, or the types of either of your Pokemon, then you will receive a reward!
This dungeon will give standard rewards: 1x Zygarde DNA + appropriate loot.
SIGNUPS To sign up, please post IC in this thread responding to the dungeon above. Which route do you take? Left or Right? Please also include the Team Template in your post.
This round will end in 33 hours from posting (Friday 9pm JST).

How did she find herself in this kind of position again…? ”My head’s spinniiiiiing!” “Light! ‘Nother light!” “That was the same light ya numbskull!” “Can we focus on the fact that IMMINENT DEATH is bearing down on us!?” “What are we supposed to do, shoot back!? There’s way too many! KEEP ROLLING!”Yggdril had… many points really, but the danger-based one was important. This was supposed to be just a casual scavenger hunt. Now here Alicia was running, and rolling, for their lives! At least as far as she could tell. Jarzick’s singular Buzzwole was dangerous enough, but an entire horde of them…? Even she wouldn’t last longer than a few seconds! ”Be silent and let us think!” Fumar shot back. ”I can’t see around this mega-apple! And unlike that comedy rolling game I don’t have the advantage of a third person camera!” Alicia cried out. ”Fumar, you’re the only one who can make the call!””LEFT!” the Carkol yelled in a panic. ”How sure are you!?” “Don’t let ‘em get us!” “No time!” “Why me!? OW!”The last speaking syrpent had the dubious dishonor of being the ‘stop break’ that bounced the apple onto the path the team had selected. Alicia hopped that she could apply at least a few aspects of the rolling game she mentioned and just smash poor Yggdril through any of the obstacles they came across. The dragon was massive thanks to her Gardener class at least. … She had to make it up to the syrpents somehow after this. She just needed to think of something that could do it. ——————————————————————— Taking the Left Path leading to the Supply Closet Door

While on the hunt for a Buzzwole of her own, a QUICK-TIME EVENT flashed before the glitch hunter's eyes. As the loud droning of wings echoed from down the derelict halls, a sound she was used to from riding Nymris, she saw exactly what she was fleeing: not one Buzzwole, but an entire horde of them! If she could isolate one and brawl with it, she could catch it. There would be no time, though... not with that timer counting down! She knew the cardinal rule of timers in classic video games: if it was on screen, it running out would be decidedly not good. Maybe even a Game Over!
Releasing Nymris from his Poké Ball, Shalin gave the lithe insect's giant wing a tap, a white saddle materializing on it. Scurrying aboard it, the Beta Tester zipped toward the RIGHT corridor, expecting the nimble bug-type to be able to whizz around the tight corners with some adept dancing!
RIGHT corridor, please! {Party}Player subclasses: Pokemon 1: Pheromosa Pokemon 2: Ponyta

Josh had been lured to the Forgotten Nexus by the prospect of loot. He didn't expect to be chased down by an entire hive of Invasive Species buzzing loudly enough to make speaking impossible. He had seen the destruction the species could wreak firsthand, having defended Aero against one.
This would be the first good use Josh's RUNNING SHOES would get.
Even with them, he couldn't keep up with his fleeing Ponyta. The fire horse was simply too fast, and the risk of bumping his head on a door frame would be too great. Plus, he didn't have time to check whether the game would let him climb onto a Pokémon in these less-than-open quarters. Shalin Nariya seemed to be able to do it okay, but she was a walking exception. A glitch hunter. If she was clever enough, she could break almost any rule she wanted.
Josh didn't have that luxury. With only seconds to make a decision, he screamed loud enough that his Pokémon might be able to hear him over the exceptionally loud buzzing. "Ixion, TAKE A LEFT!" he screamed, tearing a piece of his clothes away from being caught on a door handle. It nearly caused him to trip, which would have left him in serious danger!
LEFT corridor, please! {Party}Player subclasses: Pokemon 1: Mudsdale Pokemon 2: Ponyta

Scarred linoleum, windows void of glass. Blood in long-dried fingerprints. The echoes of voices lingering after the cutscene, their urgent words coarse and foreign to the ear. This was different. Different was good. Respiro touched down sandals-first, clattering, surefoot. Ready. Ready! Two answering clatters hit the tile behind him and he jerked his beak around, startled, head-cocked. Pokémon had come out on their own, summoned by the mechanics of the game they now played. Dodrio, three-faced. Vivillon, sapphire scales raining gently down from its wings like pixel dust. We run together. He hopped from foot to foot, enthusiastic about the task at hand. The two Pokémon merely looked back at him, murmuring. <Where are we?> <What's going on?> <What's that buzzing sound?> ...It didn't matter!! Respiro wanted to cheer, because it was a fine day when he could run and jump and run again (recklessly, roadfree) and better after all to run with friends, if that's what Pokémon were to him, and maybe they were (or maybe they were more). He jerked his head swiftly to the right and clicked his tongue for attention, hoping they would understand. Dodrio moved first, a wary taloned step towards him before the buzzer blew and the world was a whirl. His sandals sparked seedlings, greenery filling cracks in the tile to mark his chosen path. He was a Gardener! Even dungeons bloomed for Respiro, Summercaller, quickrunner, starterkiller. He ran up the walls, kicking off cubicle walls with superhuman agility seldom seen outside martial arts movies. Taken by his burst of speed, his Pokémon followed close behind, cutting corner after blind-end corner, following the trail of growth. But even in a crowd, he runs alone.

Life breathed and crawled through the bones of the old building. Greenery spread like quickening veins, joining concrete muscles and forming great knots of reclaimed wood.
Torino pelted down the RIGHT path. Her bare feet slapped on the wet, once-carpeted floor, soggy with neglect and some sort of leak. Each footprint bloomed like a dropped handful of seeds, sprouting hardy daisies and prehensile vines through the broken office. "It is like you Girasoli!" she promised the Petilil that bounced alongside her. "This world is meant for green and sunwarm."
The furious hornetting of overgrown bugs rang off the walls, pushing the three forward in heart-flutter excitement. "I think they want to eat you, Nuvola!" she joked. The Swirlix giggled, its cotton-candy body puffing out with joy.
The switchback corridor was stuffed to bursting with players. One named Rook ran along the walls, leaving a trail of flowers like florist graffiti. Another named Shalin Nariya rode a satin damselfly, its high thrum adding harmony to the hive roar behind them.
Torino, Girasoli, and Nuvola ducked and jumped and pressed against walls, avoiding the stampede as she made for the sweetening scent at the end of the corridor.

Misery. This office had seen better days.
Papers across the office that had been decayed by the passing of time, weather being unkind to this place of work. The lack of windows had the wind blowing through, a chill in the summer breeze.
A long puff through a pipe, bubbles coming out instead of smoke. Mr. Business was here on official business, and there was no reason to delay. An office cubicle had been slowly been re-assembled, or at least the chair had been. The wheels were old and rusty, but they would make do. He would sit down, spinning towards the desk when-
"Hey!" Laguna suddenly called out, interrupting the serious and dramatic comedy roleplay by the Mr. Mime. "You gotta help me look around, don't sit down silly! We got stuff to find."
"Yeah!" Shouted Glacia, eagerly circling her trainer as she kicked over a few pieces of rubble.
"I am helping! Trying to get into the mind space of these poor, underpaid interns. I see my detective skills are underappreciated." Replied Mr. Business, kicking back away from the desk in his mostly functional office chair, bumping straight into the water cooler. He'd pause, picking up the note as the quest immediately popped up in Laguna's vision.
Even from here she could see the bloody handprint.
With the sudden crack of concrete and the horrific buzz of hundreds of muscular monstrosities, Laguna swiftly picks up Glacia before the young iceberg even has a moment to process what's going on. "Time to go!"
"Don't have to inform me twice." Mr. Business suddenly flipped into Serious Business Mode, leaving Comedy Business Mode behind. Hands waving, a Quick Guard would sprout up behind them to protect even for a brief second as the trio dashed down the right corridor.
A trail of flame was left in her wake from her Trailblazer Kicks, the heat tickling the wet carpet.

”How’s it looking Fumar!?””We should be-“ Fumar began, only to hit the metaphorical brakes. ”Fuming Flares!””What!?” Alicia cried in a panic. Only to get her answer as Yggdril let out a chorus of pained cries as they crashed into the dead end. Which then causes Alicia to slam into the syrupy coating of Yggdril’s apple. ’Not again…’ Alicia briefly thought to herself ”Danger, Will Robinson!” “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!” “Dead End!? Now!?” “OhSnapOhSnapOhSnapOhSnapOhSnap!” “WE’RE GONNA DIIIIIIIIIE!”While Yggdril was shrieking like a banshee, Alicia used her stat-granted might to heave the Hydrapple’s apple around to angle towards a potential way back out, and got pushing again. But those Beasts were getting dangerously close, never mind the ambushers! ”Hurry up, Fumar!””… Tis the end of the line for me. Though our time was short… I will cherish it.” Fumar replied, causing Alicia to look over her shoulder. The Carkol, in defiance of all logic, was standing his ground. ”Fumar! What are you doing!?” the Gardener cried out, eyes widening in horror. ”Buying you time.” the one-time titan replied as he heated his coals to the limit, turning them a cherry red with a yellow-orange core. Turning on the Kartana first, the coal cart loosed a powerful Incinerate that drove the fire-shy beasts back. But that wouldn’t deter the incoming Buzzwole for long. Logically, the move made sense. Sacrifice one to give the others a chance to escape despite the error. It was emotionless, a pure crunching of numbers. Losing one instead of the entire squad was just what you did when push came to shove. And from Fumar’s perspective, he was technically the oldest individual of the group. Despite his regressed state, he probably regarding Alicia and the majority of her team as kids of the next generation. A cause worth sacrificing oneself to protect… None of this stopped Alicia from shedding streams of tears in guilt and pain as she took off with all the strength and momentum she could manage. She hated it. But she didn’t have the time to change his mind. She choked up even more as she heard the shimmering keen of evolution, and the bellowing roar of a defiant Coalossal realizing more of his old might. It still wouldn’t have been enough… She didn’t know if she could stomach another Everworld trip… ”Hey… try to hold it together, kay…?” “We get it…” “We’ll make it from here.”Alicia would never get a chance to answer, though, as they promptly fell into the pit up ahead. Trainer and syrpents both let out terrified screams as they tumbled downward. ——————————————————————— Taking the Downward Path into DOOM! the darkness.

Zoooom! The cold-squish of the corridor carpet went unnoticed as thin plywood walls bent and buckled beneath action-movie feet. Still, even light as he was, his meager body weight would warp them eventually. So as one bent back, Respiro rode the wave of force. He stopped, slowed, swayed like a too-big bird on a branch-- and sprung! <Wait! I don't think you should be doing that!> <What's that ahead? A hole?> He heard a crack behind him as the cheap wall splintered. Respiro did a little flip in the air and landed next to Laguna, bright-eyed, goggling at her bedazzled blade. ...Not a sword. He drooped visibly, clearly disappointed. Respiro looked up. Blue scales were raining down around his shoulders again, his personal monsoon. <They're catching up. The big bugs. Up or down?>
Respiro tore himself away from the malfunctioning unit and pattersquished on, deeper into the office labyrinth. Squish squish squish-squish-squishsquishsquishshshshshs-He threw himself forward as a blast of heat and flame rocked the hall. Behind, a flint-beast shook with exertion, wearing its explosion like an exoskeleton. Bulging red fingers reached through the smoke, pulling the giant in. "!!"Respiro caught himself on a handful of cables, dangling. He saw Alicia Westfield fall and he lunged suddenly, instinctively, as if to try and catch her. A stranger on a cliff's edge, seconds too late, seizing nothing more than screams. <What are you doing? This way! Up, up here!> Vivillon circled above his head. Respiro still dangled, torn, looking down into the pit where the girl had vanished. Then he untangled his feet, settled them under himself, and dropped into the deep. <Well, that works for me,> said Dodrio, bunching its legs and vaulting after him into the gloom. Above, Vivillon fluttered in frustrated circles, a moth trapped on the wrong side of the light.

The longer Shalin and Nymris dashed through the freezing corridor, the more the temperature dropped. The rider's vision distorted as her unusual Ultra Beast mount began to vibrate his wings, not for being unable to control himself, but to keep warm. At first, she was giggling loudly, having the time of her life as the Ultra Beast fluttered, perhaps looking like there were multiples of her to others behind her. After the first few seconds, it turned painful, reminding her that glitches could be unpredictable. That giggling turned into screaming until her swift insect reached the end of the cold hallway, able to maintain warmth without buzzing Shalin about.
Peering downward, Shalin was unable to see where she was going. Feeling more comfortable heading upwards, she spent a few precious seconds catching her breath and letting the pain subside some before sliding off the bug's wing. Her limbs shaking from no longer being overloaded with motion, she climbed upward, Nymris following as closely as he could.

The buff bugs were quick to give chase. They reminded Josh of the horrific chase levels in the modern Donkey Kong Country entries, only that in this world, he had no extra lives. Tripping and falling into the swarm meant almost certainly Whiting Out. He was around to see what that did to Alicia Westfield and to Sidra . For the former, how it changed her and her Bayleef's virtual lives forever.
No reward was worth that kind of trauma.
Ixion galloped ahead of Josh toward the closets... to a dead-end swarming with Kartana. The paper-thin Pokémon surrounded the fire horse and trainer with maddening speed. With a coordinated attack, the swarm knocked Josh and his Ponyta down in an instant. The last thing he witnessed before his vision slowly faded to black was the Kartana carrying the psychic-type's body away.
Josh reappeared in the freezer, sans his mount. "Ixion?!" Josh shouted, looking all over for his partner. Peering toward the bottom right corner of his HUD, he saw a question mark in the HUD. Hovering over it, the tooltip made chills fly up his spine:
Help> X-ZONE: The Pokémon has vanished without a trace. This effect lasts indefinitely.
Indefinitely?! After all the effort of finding the Pokémon, it was just gone forever?!
This was worse than a trip to the Everworld. Alicia Westfield had shown that even death in UNOVR was temporary if the bond between Pokémon and trainer ran deep enough. But this... this was the closest Josh had seen to true death. The "death" of one of his fastest allies... and one of the easiest to tame. Even the newest characters could partake in the joys of a Pokémon mount through her.
His tears froze onto his skin, causing his eyes to twitch as he lagged far behind enough that he could feel the stomping Buzzwole give chase, hungry for the scout's blood. Without a Pokémon to look after, Josh climbed the net of cables upward. He didn't expect their weight to be able to hold an enormous Pokémon like Buzzwole. He would largely be on his feet, but that was okay - anything to keep him out of danger of he himself vanishing! Because...
What if he suffered the same fate as that Pokémon? Would he vanish without a trace, too?
UPWARD, please!

Laguna was not prepared to find a knife, but the jewels reflecting in the light drew her attention. The metal was dark, but the hilt covered in beautiful gemstones. Although, it seemed to be missing one. The digital confetti and BONUS REWARD shoved in her face made it feel a bit tonally dissonant, however. Like they weren't being chased down by a terrifying mass of Ultra Beasts Even still, she was incredibly curious and tucked the blade into the belt on her waist.
"What did you find, Mama?" Glacia suddenly spoke up, glancing curiously at the other trainer nearby, Respiro, who also seemed to be looking at her blade.
"A knife, I'll tell you about it later!" Laguna shouted, swiftly picking up the pace as she continued to dash through the hall.
"I say," Mr. Business suddenly began. "I think we should worry less about mysterious blades, and more about the serious neglect this place has suffered. I mean, it has electricity to keep it cool, but not power elevators? Some serious lack of-"
"Not important right now, Mister!" Laguna replied with a laugh, jumping over a small hole in the ground before swiftly reaching the branching paths. Down into darkness, or climbing up a series of handholds that looked equally unsafe. There wasn't exactly any great options.
And yet, Laguna made the split second decision. Climbing up would only keep them inside the building longer, once they could get outside they'd be scott free. And climbing up, just to jump out, seemed like a terrible idea.
It was time to descend.
"Business, grab Glacia! We're jumping!" Laguna twirled, her Rainbow Flame Cloak suddenly sparkling to life with gleaming feathers. Flames would suddenly flicker across her skin as a Sunsteel Strike would illuminate their path down as they shot down.
"Can do, Ma'am!" The Bergmite was swooped up into the arms of the Mr. Mime. An arm was swiftly looped around Laguna's own arm, and the three of them jumped down, gliding carefully below.

After feeling some part of his outfit get snagged on the strange metal sticking out—he blinked because it was a dead-end. At least there was some kind of notification about some office supplies that were blinking in his feld of vision, which he quickly swiped before—
“Oh, are you kidding me?!” he exclaimed; before the swarm of tiny murder papers (as he had no idea what Kartana were officially called) surrounded the Grookey that had run ahead before being taken somewhere.
Where, he had no idea, but he wasn’t aware that he wouldn’t be seeing the Grookey again even after this harebrained insanity ended. Not for a good long while.
‘Oh, come on, what are these things—’ were the last words he heard from his companion, surrounded by tiny little murder papers taking them somewhere before his field of vision turned black and he reappeared in that cold, freeing corridor.
“There… there was a fucking reason why I avoided this route!” he grumbled; before seeing that at least Muninn was still with him; which was good.
Now, where was that stupid simian—huh?
He stared at his party—where had the Grookey gone to?
The sounds of crashing behind him would shake him from his reverie, though.
‘Move!’ was all he would get from the Murkrow, whose fluttering wings alerted him that there was another fork in the path—however this time it was…
“Down, down, down!” he would yell, and the Murkrow would match his pace as they took to leap of faith downwards into the pervading gloom.
Hopefully his luck would hold up.
taking the downward path!
