The sound of drums. The thrum of footfalls, slapping on stone. The high-pitched shrieks of angry apes. They form a rhythm. Run true. You must not falter.
For each choice selected, for each figure lifted from its mossy pedestal, another appears in its place. By the end, each of you holds your own Indiana-Jones-style idol, every bit as creepy and cursed as you could have imagined.
The effect is not instant. But there is a change.
Something withers. Something cools.
Someone's breath hitches in their chest, as if for a moment they've forgotten what air is.
Thu-thud. A heartbeat? No. Feet hit the ground. The extra Gold Finger knocked away by Big Bee is snatched up by creased gray palms as a trio of Infernape drop down from the ceiling, flaming hair glinting off gold. The apes uncoil from a martial crouch with predatory slowness, lips drawing back from square yellow teeth.
You wait for an enemy HP Bar, but none appears. Instead, your vision darkens, a bolt of light dancing across the screen to form glowing words.
QUICKTIME EVENT: ESCAPE THE TEMPLE
Run true. You have three minutes. The Infernape spring for the players with the Gold Finger with hoarse, territorial screams, eager to peel your limbs from your bodies like bananas. Strangely, they shy from the players with the Marble Eye, who have a different threat to face. The sound of drums from above might have been falsely attributed to background music before, but you realize the heavy thrum is coming from a pair of vine-covered alcoves set high up in the temple walls, one on each side. A pair of Rillaboom are crouched there, beating away on their massive drums. With each hit, a wave of ancient, grassy power pours into the ground.
Roots burrow up and lash from cracks in the stone, whipping and writhing at your feet. You see them snatch up a player with a Marble Eye, constricting them and pumping their game model like a wet towel. The player shatters into glittering hexagons, their Pokemon vanishing on the spot as their trainer whites out.
Driven by the drums, the roots ripple blindly, snaking and forking across the stone in search of new victims.
Marble Eye players receive the same Quicktime Event as the others. Get running!
InstructionsWith three minutes counting down on your User Interface clock, you must decide where to go. Typical of dungeons, the way you came from is now closed.
- You may take the stone path to the left, which leads up a short set of stairs to a perfectly circular chamber. Based on your experience in this dungeon so far, there is likely a trap here.
- You may descend to the right, taking a short wooden rope bridge down to a shallow, rippling waterway. You will need to swim to keep up speed.
- You may pass through a door at the end of a chamber also to the right, which leads somewhere unknown.
Respond to this post within 24 hours and choose which direction you're starting your run in.

The apes descended. Gnashing teeth and sharp claws extended toward the adventurers. It didn't look good.
"WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Kath rounded on Grookey.
"Nothing, baby, nothing!"
"Come on, man, these are your guys," Bulby said accusingly.
"What - just because I'm a primate? You're a primate!" He pointed to Kath. "And you're a plant," he pointed at Bulby.
"You take that back!"
"Later, we'll do this later," Kath took some deep breaths and focused. "We need to move. And we're not swimming. Any ideas?"
"Right," said Grookey.
"Left," Bulby angrily replied.
"Ah, okay, we're doing this?" Kath took out the gold finger. She pretended like it was wobbling in her palm, and suddenly jerked it to the left. "Whoa! The gold finger is pointing that way!"
"Whoa!" Grookey said, completely duped.
"Alright man," Bulby waddled off, leading the way.
"No, left."
Kath Ulu and her pokemon took the stone path to the left...

Finn watches someone get strangled into pixels and wonders, with a vague sense of dread, exactly how much that was going to hurt if it happened to him. Then it very nearly does, a thick root bursting free of the earth and trying to coil around his ankle before the Litten bathes it in fire.
"Thanks, Lynch."
"We're not swimming, Finn overhears someone else (Kath Ulu) say to their Pokemon. He casts a begrudging look at the water.
You're a Swimmer, he tells himself, this is literally your element.
"I guess we're swimming."
He does not sound enthused.
But he doesn't do anything in half-measures, so Finn takes a running step and leaps into the water, his Mudkip eagerly in tow. Lynch follows more reluctantly, hissing at the water in disgust before splashing in like an awkward toddler.
FINN CHOOSES THE RIGHT PATH.

Manish was planning on maybe working up the courage to say hi to a few of the people he recognized, but that thought was interrupted by the thudding sound. His eyes immediately widened and he picked up Cereal and held tight to the marble eye. “Get ready to go, we gotta, uh, we gotta go.” Ryan looked around him and despite the ominous sounds, so far there really wasn’t anything to worry about <What do you mean?> “Look, okay, no you gotta uh, you gotta trust me on this one, okay? See, look, both Mother and Father have worked jobs like this. Okay? So, like, trust me, I know what’s gonna happen. See, first there’s just the ominous pounding and then…” the Infernape started to approach and Manish sighed. “Then the monkeys appear.” He started to back away slowly. It didn’t look like they were all that interested in him, but he wasn’t totally willing to believe that yet, it never went that easy in the movies. Manish sighed again and slowly looked up to see the Rillabooms. “Of course. You always gotta look up, geeze, rookie mistake.”<Manish? Okay, so I believe you now. But what do we do? There’s a countdown!>Manish squinted at the clock. Of course there was a countdown. There’s always a time limit on escaping dangerous jungle temples, they just weren’t always so obvious. Ryan stood in front of Manish and growled at the Rillabooms while Manish took in his options. “Okay, so, three paths, obviously. Stairs to the left? No, never trust stairs this early on in a temple. ‘Cause you always gotta go deeper before you can get out.”<Manish…> Ryan was backing up slowly, the Rillaboom getting closer. “Next option, right path. A wooden bridge? With water? Please, do they think I’m an amature? Everyone knows that if you try to cross that bridge it’ll snap instantly and then you’ll still end up in the water. And uh, and I still can’t swim.”<Brzzzzzt!> Cereal gave a distressed buzz from Manish’s arms. “Right, okay, no obviously we gotta go through the door. See, that’ll lead deeper into the temple and we’ll find an alternate path out. Classic tomb raiding stuff.” Manish couldn’t help chuckle to himself at the joke he made only to himself. <Manish!> “Oh yeah, okay, let’s go!”MANISH PASSES THROUGH THE DOOR

Big Bee looked slowly up at the Infernape who has holding the dropped finger. The creature grinned, displaying terrible yellow teeth. He looked up to where the Rillaboom stood pounding their drums. "Okay. So, well, we'd better be going..."
The drumbeat quickened, and the golden flames on Infernape's head flared. He felt the lick of their heat, as if he was staring up at three angry suns.
Rian reached out for the finger and he pulled her away. "No no no," he said softly, taking a step backwards. An Infernape screeched at him and he staggered back, stumbling and slipping on the mossy stones as he sprinted away from the primates. "We-gotta-go, we-gotta-go, we-gotta-get-out-of-heeeere, oh hey manish!" he said, catching sight of his friend as he sprinted towards the rope bridge. He leapt out onto the wooden planks, hands outstretched to grab the fraying rope on either side. I really need to send Manish a friend request one of these days-
Big Bee's foot passed clean through a rotten board. He fell in stages, banging one knee, then scraping up along both arms, and then clacking his teeth together on one of the unrotten boards. TKO grabbed on to the bridge with its tentacles, and Big Bee suddenly found himself hanging above a shallow river.
"We're gonna die!" Rian called, banging on his head with a stick. "We're fine," spat Big Bee, lip bloody from where he'd bitten it in the fall. "Death...I wonder..." TKO said, and let go.
Big Bee screamed as he fell all of two feet, landing safely in the shallow stream. "Oh. Huh," he said, looking down at the water that was rushing around his waist. "Easy as that then."
He set off swimming with Grookey and TKO on his back, fighting over the marble.

Oh. Well. This sucked.
<you fucked UP.>
"Where did you even learn that from?"
He was confused by the fact that the charmander had suddenly decided to speak up. And that speak up just happened to be another insult. Not that he was surprised by the insult but by the fact that it was accompanied and accented by a swear. But he didn't really have time to worry about that with the count down that had started. Begrudgingly he scooped the Charmander up, assuming that it's short stubby legs would probably be useless at running.
He obviously couldn't choose the water path, not when he hadn't actually chosen the swimmer class and his fire type pokemon would probably die. That left him with two options... Arena or an unknown door. The door. At least it was away from whatever was going on out here. And probably a death trap. But he would take the door nonetheless.

A bunch of damned, dirty apes descend on the lot of them. Instead of fear, Allotta just feels a rush of thrill, her high (fake) voice rising in a laugh as one of the Infernape swipes at her. She narrowly avoids one of her tits being ripped off. Hefting up her Meowth, she takes off running- away from everyone else, so far.
"So long, nerds!" She happens to pass by Finnegan Fjord, giving him a hearty slap on the ass. Laughter echoes off the stone steps as she runs to the stone path. This was a game, after all! Even if her pain setting was realistic, she doubted it would be that bad!
She paused on the path, running in place, flames dancing on her heels as she tried to pick out where to step- this was, like, a spooky temple! This place was probably riddled with traps!
Blue closed his eyes and held on tight, letting out a warbling noise as Allotta darted forward. She danced over stone, going deeper, barely avoiding a spike trap as it surged upwards.

Lucky found his path quickly. The water wasn't somewhere he was confident in swimming in just yet, and as for the way that seemed structurally likely to go upwards... He watched Alotta go down that path. Following the trail of cindered footsteps felt more than a little ominous to Lucky at such a dangerous time. Although it seemed foolish, Lucky chose to go further in. Sure, he may not be escaping right now-but he was more curious as to what lie at the heart of the temple than what form of presumed safety lie outside of it.
In essence, it really looked as if he were just making the most dangerous choices available to him at any given moment right now. Omen and Will'O had left their balls to stand by Lucky's side once more, running with him through the temple. He leapt over a passing vine which had no interest in him, a few flowers blooming on the edge of it as he passed by into the true unknown before him.

CYCLE 2
THREE PATHS DIVERGELeft Path (Circular Room)Chime! The pure sound of a ringing bell comes from each stair-step Kath Ulu and Allotta Bambooga vault. Chime! Chime! Chime!
In their footprints, something glitters beneath the grime.
Kath and Allotta enter the circular stone chamber, its walls budding with jungle life. The path curves in a semicircle around a stone platform, which seems to have some kind of mechanism built-in underneath it. A moss-covered statue stands atop the platform, pointing accusingly right at you.
There are two exits to this chamber: a rope bridge to your right, which leads back down to the waterway, and a closed door on the far side.
A tooltip flickers to life above the closed door. It reads locked.
In good news, the Infernape haven't followed you in here. Even they know it's a trap. They wait outside the way you came in, slavering for blood.
Right Path (Waterway)The water is still and dark, absorbing the presence of Finnegan Fjord and Big Bee with hardly a ripple. Finn's Pokemon swim beside him, while Big Bee's cling protectively to his back.
Their weight is growing uncomfortable. Painful.
The water is no obstacle for the roots. They race along the bottom of the canal, growing fast along its cracks and corners.
For this reason, perhaps it is a blessing when the shallow waterway drops off into a yawning underwater chamber. Tiny bubbles spiral up from the bottom of this ancient reservoir, rising towards the light.
Two canals split off from this chamber, one on the far side that continues straight ahead, another slicing off to your right. Ahead, you think you can see a faint orange glow from the surface.Big Bee and Finn will also notice their Pokemon becoming unable to swim.
They sink like stones, their eyes turning white.
Right Path (Door)The door is unlocked. manish and then inari flash through it, followed by Lucky Guy as all three players venture blind into the unknown.
The three burst through the door into a large, square stone chamber. Torches light themselves on the walls as you enter, illuminating a series of carved stone tables and benches. The walls are lined with kegs and barrels of some unknown substance. The table in the center of the room must have been a dining table, once, but now its smooth, carved surface is entirely clear. The other tables seem to be workbenches covered in various items.
If you thread your way through the furniture, an open passageway leads back out of this room to the left. The passage seems to go back outside.
Across from you is another closed door. LOCKED, the tooltip says. USE KEY? <Y/N>In the flickering torchlight, manish and inari's Pokemon grow pale, their color leeched by sun and centuries.
If Lucky Guy touches any of the items in this room, he will find they grow soft in his hands. Soft and bright, like old dubloons.

“Oh, good!” Grookey pointed at the infernapes. “They aren’t chasing us anymore!”
“Right, now we just have a trapped room to deal with," Kath groaned. "Out of one problem, and into another!”
“That’s life, baby.”
Kath turned to Allotta Bambooga with a desperate smile. "Heyyy, so... guess we're in this together, huh?"
The statue pointed accusingly at her, as if in preparation for Kath to attempt to cajole Allotta Bambooga into stepping onto the platform first. No - she wouldn't be a part of that. She had to try to get past this trap herself.
"Grookey, get on the platform," she said, determined.
"WHAT?"
Grookey suddenly fell forward as Bulby gave him a solid headbutt. The little guy went sprawling onto the platform.

Lucky kept a trained eye around the course of the room. Would there really be a key that worked for the door in question? Loot notwithstanding, he just wanted to see what was further down the temple itself! There had to be something further down here, right..? Even a place down in the temple that was safe from the collapse itself would be enough for him. "A~hh, damn! What kind of cracked up shilless twat made this temple?! I'm going to have a damn near heart attack, I am! You two, please help me now if anytime else!" He desperately pleaded for his two Pokémon to help. Omen frantically sifted through key after key in a hopes that jamming one randomly in the lock would be enough for what they needed. His Delphox, Will'o, was less concerned about the situation. He knew that his master wished for a key, and so he would find one for the man. Bringing up his trusty wand, he uses it as a makeshift dowsing rod to search throughout the room for that which was significant. The will of the code would do the rest of the work. While his wand did all of the work, why not take a breather and look around for something shiny? So he thought. His master would be pleased with a gift. TpGaBWX61-20Lucky found the key to the door with the help of his Psychic Pokémon. In addition, he looted something! 1-20

This isn't so bad, actually.
Finn knew how to swim. He had learned out of spite and a healthy amount of fear. It didn't make his heart rate any slower as he braved the dark depths of the waterway, but it did make things easier. The little bubbles indicating his breath meter never deplete.
Hell yeah, Swimmers!
Attracted instinctively to the glow of light from a presumable surface, Finn swims eagerly into the chamber. That's when the whirlpool kicks in.
"Fuck! Shit!" He swims back against the current. "Straight on, guys."
But his Pokemon aren't following.
"Guys? Wait - seriously, Caher, you're a Water-type..."
Litten is small enough to cling to him, her claws digging like needles into his shoulder. Finn grabs his Mudkip by the scruff and half-drags them straight ahead, toward the orange glow of light. That had to be a good thing, right?
Right?
Finn uses his SWIMMER SUBCLASS to pass the whirlpool.

Manish rolled his eyes at the self-lighting torches. Please, that effect was so ten years ago. But at least he could appreciate the other aesthetics of the room. It was like that one scene from that one movie; he couldn’t remember the name of it, since neither of his parents worked on it. Manish shot a look over at the other two that followed the same path he did. It looked like one of them was actually using his pokemon to help. Manish glanced down at Ryan and Cereal. Both pokemon were looking pale. Very pale. “You guys doing okay?” <Feeling weird, we should get outta here.> <Brzzt.>“Yeah, okay. Um, hey Cereal? See what they did? Think you could find us a key as well?”Cereal turned his head towards the room and let out a <Brrrrrzzzzzzzzzzt,> eyes glowing pink. After a moment, a small inconspicuous key floated into Manish’s hand. “Thanks buddy” he said while giving Cereal a little squeeze. It looked like Lucky was looking for loot, but Manish knew better. Time was more important than stuff in a place like this. Plus he was fairly certain that if he even tried to look he would end up breaking something and that wasn’t high on his list of things to do. “Come on, let’s see what’s up next.” MANISH uses PSYCHIC TYPE POKEMON to locate KEY

Allotta and Kath Ulu are given just a moment's respite. Not for long, given the nature of this game, but at least the Infernape weren't on their backs right now.
"Hell yeah we're in this together!" And she would give the other a high five if she could. Maybe later. Bigger fish to fry. She winced as she watched the poor Grooky get tumbling forward.
Glancing down to the Meowth hanging in her arms and the Sobble on her shoulder, she sighed and started to step forward.
Careful, careful.

Keys... Why did it have to be a bunch of keys that he needed to work his way through? Puzzles were okay but actually trying to find the key to match this door would probably take awhile. Especially since his Charmander probably wouldn't be any help... Did it always look this weird and pale or whatever? He should probably invest on getting some new Pokemon if he didn't want to keep sucking at these events.
There was always the chance that there was something neat at the end of all of this too... But he didn't want to fail at the first task. After all there would be better rewards if he just searched for the key and got to the end, right? That feels like the right thing to do. So quickly he began to scour some of the workbenches, picking up key after key to try and find the right one that could open the door and get them free. Unfortunately he couldn't be a lucky bastard like the guy who already had his key.
Investing in different types of Pokemon would probably be a good idea. Maybe.
