Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

When he did, it might have something to do with his navigational tools or a few confusing roads. However, this was his third time wandering through the Misty Timberland. Due to the rumors regarding a dream world and the last two visits there, he wondered how could he return to that place one more time. Only this time, he was willing to enter and exit at any time without external sources. He tried several times to go through the usual routes and even diverge from them to find a way there. In the end, he found himself lost in the middle of the forest. At this point, this was the part he would give up. But to Morpheus, he was already exhausted from school and his part-time job lately. Just being lost through the woods already exasperated him to the point of drowsiness. So he did what any logical player would do. Lie down to take a few Zs. Yeah, this was a stupid move. But considering there were no signs of wild and aggressive Pokemon around and he was playing a VR game, who wouldn't want to try sleeping in the game out of curiosity? So he did just that and went off to his dreamland for a while...

Rustle... That was all Morpheus could hear just as he opened his eyes. How long was he napping? He wasn't worried about the time since today was the weekend. Yet something about the noise was enough to rouse him from his brief slumber. As he stood up while yawning, he took out a Poke Ball from his inventory and quietly scanned the area for any signs of ambush. "You know, I'm willing to resort to battle if you're planning to hide any longer. Come out before I'll make you!" Poor execution of words, he thought. He knew there was a high chance it might be a wild Pokemon. So why in the world did he shout as if a player had stalked him? Regardless, Morpheus took a deep breath and prepared for the worse to come...

Rustle... Rustle... As he suspected, the noise grew louder the more he wandered around the field. He turned around and prepared to throw the Poke Ball. But he stopped when he noticed nothing seemed to appear behind him. That was until he saw something below him. *"KREEEE..."* It was a red worm-like bug, skittering near his feet. This...wasn't Morpheus expected. Then again, it might be an opportunity since he didn't have any Poison-types in his team. "Well, you will have to do. Yukina, help me out!" He tossed the ball, releasing his Glaceon out of it. "Take care of it with Icy Wind!" Without questioning why, his Ice-type Eeveelution blew a cold breeze to the bug Pokemon.

The moment it endured her Icy Wind, it didn't take long for it to strike Yukina with its tail. Her cry was enough to snap him out of his one-track mindset to realize the danger she was in. "Oh no!" Morpheus quickly caught his Glaceon before she could hit the ground. "Are you okay?!" <<I-I'm good... But you didn't tell me how strong that bug is!>> Yukina exclaimed. <<It's even strong enough to endure my attack!>> Morpheus stared at the Venipede for a while. He knew she couldn't win if he let her mindlessly attack it with Icy Wind. "Let's retreat for now and get you to the shrine. You might be back in shape in no time." <<You better do it fast. Cause I think that bug is gaining on us!>> True to Yukina's words, the Venipede rushed towards the trainer. At least it tried to if it wasn't for its stubby legs. Either way, Morpheus took this chance to run to the nearest shrine he could find.

Morpheus was relieved the shrine in Misty Timberlands was still there after his hiatus. If he didn't, Yukina wouldn't be able to be healed on time. However, it didn't mean they were out of the woods yet. By the time he and his Glaceon came back, the Venipede they left behind already got to them once they left the shrine. <<Morph, give me the word! I'm ready to give that Venipede some payback!>> He nodded at his Glaceon. "Alright! Yukina, use Ice Shard!" The ice-type Pokemon took a deep breath and with a cold breeze blowing from her mouth, she created a shard made of ice and threw it to the bug Pokemon.

Yukina made a shard large enough to strike the Venipede. But just like her Icy Wind, it seemed to endure the shard before striking her again with its tail. This time, her face turned pale as she started to stumble. <<What the heck?! What kind of Venipede is that?! There's no way it can endure my Ice Shard!>> Morpheus narrowed her eyes. Even after she was healed, Yukina only dealt small damage while she endured a strong Poison Tail along with being inflicted with Poison. This wasn't working in his favor. For now, he needed to retreat again. "Hold your attack, Yukina. Let's get back to the shrine. Something might not be right about this." <<Again?! I can't believe we're running away for the second time!>> She stopped as she saw Morpheus's glare, seeing he already decided for a good reason. <<A-Alright. But only because you said so!>> With that, they ran off before the Venipede charged at Yukina again.

He could tell from its eyes that they were getting annoyed by his constant retreating. While it was effective to deal with some issues that arose from the latest update, he and Yukina were also tired of it, too. The sooner he dealt with this Poison/Bug-type Pokemon, the better. "Third time's the charm, Yukina! Use Ice Shard one more time and endure its next attack!" He commanded. <<This better work or I have a good reason not to listen to you anymore!>> With a deep breath, his Glaceon created another shard of ice from her breath and fired it at Venipede.

The same could be said with his Pokemon with a gasp after witnessing the same event. <<No way! It hit way harder now! Whatever you did, it's working!>> As he suspected, the wild Pokemon battle options seemed to be reset after the update. Thankfully, it only took a few tweaks while healing Yukina at the shrine to fix his mistakes immediately. With this, he did not need to retreat any longer. "Then this gives us an advantage. Yukina, follow it up with Icy Wind!" His Glaceon blew the said attack to the bug just as it rolled itself to her. While she did so, Morpheus took out an empty Golden Poke Ball and threw it just as its HP was low enough to catch it.
