Their power rose a bit with Braver’s resounding Howl… but Alicia could tell it wouldn’t be enough. This thing was already causing so much damage. Tikani’s Light Screen was swept away with contemptuous ease. And the bug confirmed their fears by calling the struggle they’d gone through up to this point a warm-up. Josh being incapable of retorting towards Luna, or recalling her when she pounced, was enough answer to Alicia’s own question.
”How can we get ready?” Alicia asked with a sarcastic snarl. ”Starting this phase by wiping our attempts to power up is pretty much a death knell to any attempt at preparation. Still… let’s try and push as far as we can. Pearl, Tikani, full power!”
The Bayleef’s response was to part her jaws, launching the immense stream of collected sunlight. A potent, devastating blast that would have most normal targets be at least significantly wounded if caught without their own defensive buffs. But for all it’s might, the gargantuan fly stood strong under the stream. And to Alicia’s frustration, the beam seemed to fall prey to the same field that nullified Josh’s electrical spell earlier. Their foe didn’t even so much as overtly acknowledge the attack...
Pearl’s Dazzling Gleam, having struck the weakness of the fly creature, at least managed some kind of impact.
Which left her own attack. At this point she had to wonder if perhaps the Fairy type just… wasn’t enough. Snapping her energy staff, she thumb through the options she had. She was going to sacrifice the buff she got from pairing with Pearl’s own Fairy type attack in order to drive what was essentially a fae-nuke into the beast. Or at least as much of a nuke as she could manage. Reconstructing the staff into a javelin, a simple feat given the similarities really, she hurled it with all her might. Driving the point into the corruption creature’s neck, she condensed and detonated the attack. Which, to her brief satisfaction, forced a pained roar from the enemy. Even if it meant that things were going to get worse…
