Patch 0.1 is here, and with it, the opening of Beta Island! This glorious, sunlit isle is just a hop, skip and a shipwreck away from the Asper mainland, and is full of lush, untextured jungle, buggy beaches, and Pokemon that run according to their programming.

These sorts of things were traditionally something you played with a myriad of people, for those who had large doses of coverage and a litany of different types of moves or Mon the make do. Orion was intending to roll solo. Not for lack of socialization, or ability to get people to take place in a fun little event with him. This was to prove a point, to see how far he'd come in his journey, and where he was still lacking as a trainer. If he wanted to be strong enough to protect those around him he needed to know where his weaknesses fell, and he would do just that. Taking a deep breath, he slapped his face and stepped in. It was a series of small micro mechanical raid fights with some rather rowdy rodents, and Orion was ready to round em up. The first floor was rather hot, large burning braziers ensconced upon the wall illuminating the room with a sinister flicker and a loud crackle of fire. Treading carefully, Orion recalled his first lap through the tower and his mechanics kicked in. With a flash of red, Arachnae the dewpider was unleashed. "Aight baby bug, the moment we see a red rat you need to give him a bubble beam, can you do that for me?" The bubbly baby bug turned to look at Orion, raising one limb up to salute as she giggled. "Sure thing papa!" The two walked through the twisting corridors until the aggrivated chittering of an aggressor echoed off the stone, and a red rodent was barreling around the corner. Arachnae, missing not a moment, let loose a blast of water and knocked the punkass patrat on his posterior. One rat down, ninety nine to go. NEXT PROMPT (2): [Tower]2M368xGE1-50 1-50

There was a high likelihood that he would see many of these floors over and over again, constantly rolling the die to see what would be happening next. An interesting concept, he just hoped he didn't have a lot of back to back repeats. That would make this a dull affair. This current one was an interesting set up, one large room with a patrat dressed like a ninja. He was a master at using things like agility and other "speed" moves to leave behind after images of himself making it insanely hard to land a hit. Once you did however, it was practically game over for the furry little fuck. "Adonis." Orion called out, unleashing his male nidoran. "Ay boss!" The rodent chirped. "Whats the haps?" "I need you to throw down a fury attack on this asshole and all of his psuedo asshole buddies. Leave nothing to chance." "On it!" The fight was quick, both in nature to the speed of both mon, but also the fact that Orion already KNEW the trick to this fight. Earlier he'd watched people struggle for hours to figure out how this was supposed to go, now he had the blessing of prior knowledge. The patrat, not knowing the danger he was in, dashed towards Adonis who in turn let loose a flurry of swipes and bites that indiscriminately targeted each fake fuck. One claw found its way home on the hidden monster and that was it, he exploded in a puff of smoke leaving behind a log and a note claiming that he'd get them next time. Sure buddy. Ares the Emboar had risen to this challenge, equipped with his thundercuffs and raw BDE (Boar Destruction Energy) he was throwing hands in a small arena made of pipes and rusty metal flooring. What it was actually supposed to be, Orion had zero god damn clue but it gave off mad "abandoned ghost submarine" vibes. WHAM. The patrat crumpled on the floor and Ares hammered his chest with a bestial roar, embers pouring from his mouth as he turned to face his master. "DIDJA SEE THAT BOSS?" The beast howled. "LOW DIFF RIGHT FUCKING THERE!" He raised a fiery hand, meeting Orion's in a righteous high five. "Good shit champ! You wanna take a rest in the ball?" He asked with a raised brow. "You've earned it." "I'm good boss!" The boar grunted brusquely. "Mind if I climb the stairs with you and walk this off?" "Not at all buddy." Orion mused back. "You've come a long way, ya know?" The boar peered at his master, eyes twinkling with pride. "I'm not the piglette you scooped out of that digital hellscape yeah." "Yessir." Orion shot back. "I'm mad proud of you." "I'm not the only one who's grown boss." The two found the door and began their climb. "I praise the others as well." Orion protested, turning to look at him. "That's not what I meant." The boar turned his head sideways and smirked. "When was the last time somebody told you good job?" Orion's jaw set as he did his damndest not cry in front of his mon. "Thanks Buddy." Duh. Pythia the Delphox had joined him for this floor, walking arm and arm with her master as the carefully navigated the verdant halls looking for their foe. She'd self selected the moment he said fire, but her body language was...off for some reason and Orion couldn't help but be concerned. "Everything okay there Pyth?" He asked giving her arm a light squeeze. "You've hardly said a word since you came out." "I'm..." She paused, and Orion gave her another reassuring squeeze. "I'm just..." she paused. "I feel like I don't do much for you and the rest of the team anymore." That was curious. "What do you mean?" Orion asked turning to look at her. "You helped carry the day during the Precipice Shrine shenanigans, I've used you in multiple Collosal battles, you took part in Thunderfall...do you think you're not getting enough time off the bench hun?" His brow furrowed as his eyes tried to roll back into his head and peer through his mind palace to see if he'd missed any other major events. "I mean yeah..." she murmured. "But like...if it's just raw damage we need...you've got most of my bases covered. I don't offer anything unique to the position I'm currently filling." "Oh," Orion mused for a moment rubbing his chin. "Well...have you considered trying a different roll?" "Like?" They were interrupted as a patrat in a ghillie suit jumped down from a branch. "Pythia!" Orion grunted putting himself between her and the oncoming attack. The fox yipped and aimed her wand, sending a series of purple fireballs rattled from the end of the stick like she was wielding a fully automatic grenade launcher. The rodent was roasted before he could even say "suprise motherfucker" and the telltale sound of the door to the next floor clicking open echoed through the floor. "Like you could be a support maybe?" Orion brushed himself off and took a moment to ensure Pythia was okay. "I have six slots in each role, maybe you might find some joy in being a healer rather and trying to compete in the DPS race." He offered. "That..." The fox hummed a bit, raising her free hand to her chin and stroking it. "Sounds like a novel idea...let me think on it please master." "No problem Pyth, just lemme know when you've made up your mind, I'll support you either way." "That was never a question." Four rats down, ninety six to go. NEXT PROMPT (5): [Tower]tx2GGx6D1-501-50
