FREEFORM BATTLE
Shalin had learned from the Hearteater raid just how brutal combat could be, and how much she needed to maintain a diverse team. When she heard what the MENACING MOONRAZE MAELSTROM did to her friends, particularly Kyukon , she knew she had to get stronger. She had zero expectations to win the battle -- it would be a learning opportunity to see what she could improve upon, both in her team selection and her battle strategy. Though not a lot of it would apply to fighting PVE bosses, locking horns with another player might give her some insight on how to use her Pokémon more effectively.
"Thanks for giving me a hand with learning the ropes, Kyukon ," the Beta Tester greeted him, Prower whirling his tails wildly fast and uplifting sand behind him. "Hopefully we can determine a winner before it gets dark!"

❝Frankly, I'm not sure if I'm in a position to teach anyone ropes, especially you, Shalin.❞
After all, it was she who was showing off how the Beta Tester class worked, and very recently he was able to unlock it, though he didn't have enough BYTES to try it out. It basically got reshuffled into his classes for the Hearteater raid, and he quite liked his Pokemon having access to those larger movesets, so he was hesitant in refunding any of them (it also saved him much headache trying to figure things out). As a result, he still didn't have access to his Kindler class, but he hoped to get it back soon.
For now, the Swimmer would have to do, especially in a battlefield like this where the waves sometimes crashed onto the shore, splashing on his legs. When he thought about it, he didn't need to worry about the tide coming up, since he could breathe underwater, but he wasn't going to accept that as a win by any means. His own Pokemon, after all, did not enjoy the same benefit.
❝But I do agree that we both need more practice.❞
He spied a Floatzel, a clear water type, and so that only meant one thing for his own Pokemon.
❝Kanya, Tora!❞
He tossed two Poke Balls into the air, letting out a Floragato and a Scyther. Tora was recently equipped into Sweeper, and was very keen on trying out the new moves that he could access, already feeling the flow of knowledge down to his scythes. Kanya, on the other hand, was very eager to finally be in a match that felt like it mattered. Locking eyes on one of his potential opponents made his fur stand on end, and with a smirk, he put his paw near his closed eyes before his body started to glow a bright white.
In reality, he could've evolved sooner than this, but this seemed to be a perfect time to show off.
With a twirl, a part of his fur became a cape, and he now donned a sharp, dark mask. He was also much taller now, and very confident in this form. After all, he had plenty of practice in the Tower Challenge (and missed it very dearly).
<Engarde.>
<Huh, fancy.> the Scyther commented, clearly not expecting his teammate to evolve before the battle even started.
Arthur wasn't as surprised, mostly just raising his brows. Well, he wondered what Shalin's other Pokemon was going to be, or if she was even going to send the Floatzel out first. Technically, he was at a disadvantage since he already brought out his two Pokemon.

Shalin saw the grass-type Floragato on the other side, yet was not worried about it one bit. Prower seemed to agree, the Floatzel putting on one more noisy burst of rotation with his tails before turning around to face both his foes. Perhaps it was that taunting that prompted the Floragato's evolution. The final-stage grass-type could easily go toe-to-toe with him in a contest of speed.
"That one's the real threat," Shalin pointed toward the Meowscarada as she sent out an Espeon as her second Pokémon. Being one of the girl's most powerful Supports, her PSYCH UP let her buff any one of her target's stats to extreme heights, as evidenced by the combat log.
Combat Log> Prower's speed improved drastically!
With his tails blowing enough wind behind him to knock Shalin off her feet, the Floatzel seemingly flew on them, charging toward the grass-type with mist-laden ICE FANGS wide open!

A simple but effective start. Arthur still flinched at the speed the Floatzel moved, but it was not a surprising command - if anything, it basically solidified that how Shalin seemed to act was very similar to Josh Devlin , and because of that, he expected power in extreme levels, but that wouldn't matter if his Pokemon wouldn't be able to land a hit.
❝Double Team!❞
The moment the water type made contact with Kanya, he instead passed through what seemed to be an after image. From said image, two more appeared on each side, each taking a different pose mid-dance as images of himself multiplied and moved around the sandbar, whipping up sand as paws and tails disturbed the ground with ease. <Care to dance? Or are you more of the silent type, nya? Has anyone ever told you that you look rather handsome?>
(Arthur decided to ignore what basically sounded like flirting from Kanya, because he was 80% sure that he was just trying to be distracting, but that other 20%, well...) With the sand starting to obscure the vision on the battlefield, he let his Scyther move next. It didn't make sense for him to try to hit the Floatzel, who the Meowscarada was already distracting, so why not hit the potential sitting duck instead? Of course, he knew it wouldn't be easy, but if he could land a hit, it was going to be super effective. ❝Tora, X-Scissor on the Espeon!❞
<Got it.> the bug type, taking advantage of the kicked up sand, weaved around the images of Kanya hopping around the limited battlefield, using them as a brief cover as he made his way to the Espeon. He then let his scythes glow a bright green before attempting to strike his target, coming down and ready to reap.

Their fighting styles were similar, yet different. She was familiar with the speed demon's fighting style, which made extensive use of the maneuver that Kanya used to come out of the ice-type assault mostly unscathed. Thankfully for her, she had the perfect weapon to hit them all at the same time. "We can dance in a more appropriate location," the Floatzel offered despite the two being in the heat of battle. "For now, though, we are lamentably enemies."
His tails roared loudly, the air current threatening to blow both of the opposing Pokémon off their feet from the whirlwind they created. That wasn't the only threat, either; the Aqua half of the AQUA TAIL turned the whirlwind into a waterspout. While it wasn't the most effective means of attack against the Meowscarada, its purpose was to disrupt the clones. If any Pyukumuku were caught up in the waterspout and smacked Kanya and Tora, it would be a bonus.
Reacting to the X-SCISSOR with almost precognizant reflexes, the Espeon glanced at Tora with BABY-DOLL EYES in an effort to reduce its foe's strength and make the blow survivable. Perhaps the distraction would get the Scyther swept up in the waterspout, as well...!

<Woah! Does that mean you're interested?> but unfortunately, he was blown off -- or rather, blown away by the sudden burst of winds, almost making some of the Kanya doubles slip and trip, while others weren't as lucky; a few even getting hit and disappearing by flying Pyukumuku that were just minding their business, not looking all too happy about no longer being in the sand or water.
The Scyther was heavier than the Meowscarada, and so he instinctively reacted to the gusts of winds by stabbing the soft sand with one of his scythes to keep him planted. This meant that he couldn't dodge some of the incoming Pyukumuku, but only one really managed to smack him in the face with a bit of a spike hitting his cheek; the rest were swatted away like flies. Finding that the winds were quickly changing direction in a flurry of chaos, he waited until they were behind or at least not directly towards him to pull his arm out and use whatever grip he could to launch himself for a (hopefully) final blow. A Fury Cutter should suffice!
Meanwhile, Kanya was dealing with the force of water and wind. This was a completely new situation to him, and he didn't know how to counter it. Could he try to ride the current to throw something at his opponent? But what? And what if he missed? It wasn't exactly easy to aim when he was being blasted left and right!
And then it dawned on him: there was a new trick up on his sleeve, and he hadn't used it to its full potential. After all, the Pidgeottos in the Tower were not exactly trying to dodge his attacks, but here..!
His clones were quickly disappearing, so trying to get himself into position, he had to use the Pyukumuku as makeshift steps to climb. Nevermind that his paws hurt from stepping on spikes, he only really had one shot at this! So when he climbed a little higher, spotting the eye in the middle of the storm, he grinned. <How about a present?>
He snapped his fingers and the little flower ball that was hurriedly trying to keep up with its owner disappeared, finding a hole in the wind that would allow it to hurtle itself downward, right where the Floatzel was waiting. A little Flower Trick for the fair lad.

Kyukon was not only an astute combatant, but inventive, as well. Shalin had expected to use the Pyukumuku as projectiles, smashing them into the Beta Tester's Pokémon like a tornado's flying debris. Instead, the nimble grass-type ascended them with a jaw-dropping display parkour that would rival even a certain famous fictional plumber.
Without a manual command from Shalin, the beleaguered Espeon was on her own. She shined a gentle MORNING SUN into the eye of the storm with the aim of neutralizing the powerful FLOWER TRICK that could tangle up the Floatzel's tails if he wasn't careful. Focused entirely on shining that bright light inside the storm, she was completely blindsided by the opposing Scyther's FURY CUTTER.
As the grass-type dove toward Prower, a chilling mist floated downward, the Floatzel's jaws opening. "Right where I want you!" Shalin cheered, giving the water-type the order to clamp down upon Kanya with blood-freezing ICE FANGS. Fangs that could also cause frostbite by decreasing the whirlwind's temperature. Whether through a direct wintry bite or a nasty, cold wind, that Meowscarada would soon learn the meaning of winter.
Withdrawing the fallen psychic-type, Shalin replaced it with a giant bug that Kyukon may have been familiar with; a giant, menacing-sounding Beedrill who had her eyes on the speedy dancer.

Kanya hadn't planned a descent - not smack dab on top of the Floatzel, anyway. The plan was for him to be able to find a way out of the artificial whirlwind, but unfortunately, missteps led to a literal downfall, and not to anyone's surprise, the opponent was all too ready to catch him with icy jaws. He braced for impact, choosing to sacrifice an arm to take the brunt of the attack, but immediately afterward, he could already feel the cold and ice spread through his fur, encasing him with no chance of escape. So this was where it ended, huh?
Arthur had been monitoring the fight through his UI as he couldn't see through the whirlwind. With the Meowscarada's HP on the low end, unable to take a second super effective attack, there was only really one thing to do, and Kanya agreed when he received the command. He wasn't too used to this yet - feeling orders come through his very makeup, not quite thoughts, but embedded. It helped that so far, he was also given free rein what to do for some of these attacks - the initial Flower Trick was his idea, and now he was going to end with it.
Kanya clicked his tongue, trying to act cool, but he was shivering. <We'll end this date with a bang.>
The Meowscarada snapped his finger, summoning another bomb right beside their faces - there would only be less than a second before it exploded in a bright light of flower and sparkles. The attack always resulted in a critical hit (if those things existed in UNOVR), but what did mattered was that, unless the Floatzel removed himself out of that equation, they were both getting hit.
With the Espeon down, Tora focused on his next challenger, another very menacing bug. Luckily for him, the Beedrill was focused on his teammate, who just activated an explosion in the middle of the speeding winds. He used the opportunity to move in; his wings buzzing and pushing himself to use Agility, rushing in towards his new opponent before twirling around, wings glowing, to position himself to use Wing Attack.

If Kanya wanted to make a kamikaze move, he would get just that. Seeing the writing on the wall, Prower put all his might into the ultimate icy attack. With the eye of the storm still freezing cold, the Floatzel turned around and whirled his tails at the highest speed he could muster. The powerful attack covered the beach around him in snow and froze the immediate shallows, temporarily expanding the size of the battleground. If she knew grass-types well, Shalin was certain there was no way the Meowscarada would be standing after the Z-MOVE: SUBZERO SLAMMER.
The exhausted Floatzel back in his Poké Ball, the girl hurled her Litleo's Poké Ball forward. Her heated mane illuminated the area around her, which served as an important light source. The sun was dipping beneath the waves, making it more challenging for the Scyther to combat the Beedrill. Their wings clashed with one another dozens of times per second, sounding like a cascade of exploding firecrackers as they wore one another down. Queen Zing's eyes blinked a deep red as she raised her foreleg stings, trying to stab Tora with repeated POISON JABS. Though the initial strike wouldn't deal much damage, the Beedrill's deadly poison would, being a potent corrosive that dissolved its victims away from the inside out!
