“Okay… sorry if I just speak out loud… I’m surprised you can understand me!” he exclaimed, taking the neon-colored drink that was served in what suspiciously looked like a highball glass.

“This is safe, I presume?”

‘I made that myself, boy, go on and try it,’ they would persist in his mind. Honestly, it still felt weird having an alien with clicking mandibles talking to him—but no sound was coming out of their visible mouth! He was still hesitant, however he’d already raised the glass halfway and then caught scent of—was that citrus?

“Fresh fruit?” he would confirm his suspicion, before finally taking a sip out of the weirdly-shaped straw and feeling the kick of the alcohol on his taste buds. Of course it was alcoholic. This was very similar to a bar, after all.

‘Yes, and that is rather hard to get, considering the current location. But I have my ways.’

The bemused laughter would ring in the back of his head, and he continued to look at them with a bewildered stare. This was a difficult concept to wrap his head around, if he was being real.

“Alright, so… you mentioned that if I had any questions, I should ask, right?”

He would get an encouraging nod from the alien, even gesturing with one of their ‘scythe-arms’ for him to start talking. That they were really listening, waiting for him to start peppering them with questions

“Okay. Sorry in advance if I have so many questions, but… the first thing is… why are most of the aliens that call this place home—why do they look at us with disdain? Or like we’re dirt? We didn’t even do anything yet and we’re already being judged!”

‘Ah. I can see where your concern comes from,’ the purring noise in his mind clicked. ‘Truth be told, there are few aliens who actually like welcoming other lifeforms to our little world.’

“Is that… forgive me for being so forward, but is that why you made this place?” he would hum, taking another slow sip of the obviously alcoholic drink in front of him, garish neon colors aside it tasted really nice.

‘Yes. There are actually fellow aliens, like myself and a few others, who are very interested in getting to know… well, your kind. Humans, right?’

He would nod after setting the glass down on the surface in front of him.

‘Don’t mind what most of them say outside when you leave this place. They aren’t used to seeing different lifeforms around yet, after all. Give it time.’

“But… but what if they decide that they don’t like us, and what if they send us away? What can we do, where cam we go?”

‘That’s why I made this place, boy. For this is a safe space for humans such as yourself, and interested aliens such as me, to interact without being prejudiced against each other.’

He would take a slow look around the rest of the place—while most of the guests were humans like himself, there were other booths that were occupied by fellow aliens like the proprietress themselves who didn’t show any signs of outward anger or disgust at the humans that were relaxing in the space.

“That’s… that’s generous of you,” he would hum presently. He knew he could drink, but he had to be careful—especially with his partner not around to help him once the hit slapped him and he slurred his words together.

“Can I ask, though… asides from wanting to learn about us, well… were you casted out of your society? Just for liking to learn more about… us? Humans, I mean.”

‘That is something I will answer for another day, young one. For now, always know that you can find this place, should you need a haven to rest while exploring Tidefall.’

And they would leave it at that; standing up and excusing themselves to go entertain the other human guests that had since arrived.

“Such a strange place…” he would hum.

Oh, but little did he know he was going to get way in over his head the more he found out about this place!
