The training that UNOVR guided her through was familiar: a sandbox to control only direction, then only speed, then both to demonstrate her mastery over the basics. Though she was somewhat used to higher speed from riding Nymris, the Pheromosa's wings stayed relatively flat, only moving back and forth with the bipedal insect's running stroke. She had been on so many unusual Pokémon that she wasn't used to the more "mundane" ones.

Though she intended to use mental controls to direct Reynir, the game didn't seem to let her move on without pulling on the reins. She did so just to satisfy the conditions, resuming giving mental directional commands as soon as she could. It was a lot of fun controlling a mount that could react to a rider's desires at the speed of thought!

The horse she was on was far faster than any real-world one; if there was one this fast on Earth, it would win the Kentucky Derby every year. With how fast the dried paint lines were flying past, she was certain she was going faster than legal driving speed. Pokémon were extraordinary creatures, capable of feats that no real world animal could... and being able to interact with them directly made the girl appreciate them even more.

Panicking as the end of a road came up quickly, Shalin flicked the reins toward one side, making a sharp turn that by all rights should have flung her from the saddle. But it did not; did Reynir have a psychic hold on her? It was such a strange sensation, like an invisible harness kept her posture perfect no matter how abrupt her steed's moves were... including the one to kick at the small, skittering bug-type that wouldn't go away.
