"... Am, I really supposed to climb that?" Laguna said to herself, flopping down and sitting on the ground as she looked up at a relatively small cliff.
It was small in comparison, really. Only about 4 feet tall, most people could probably just climb up given enough effort, but not Laguna. She was still much too unstable on her feet, trying to relearn to walk after nearly 5 years of complete lower paralysis was already difficult.
Her body worked just fine, it was simply the mental overload. She hadn't worked this part of her brain in years, proper balance was incredibly difficult, let alone jumping. And so, Laguna simply sat on the ground, sighing as she wiggled her toes slowly.
The package sat forlornly at her side. Professor Ash had asked her to carry it to a person in town, but at this point, it was appearing almost like an endless task. Curiosity tempted her to look inside, but if she knew anything from video games is that they would always, always comment on the fact that you peeped.
"Well, if Pokemon ever told me anything... Is that you can't walk up those tiny little cliffs anyways, you just gotta walk around." Her eyes glanced back and forth, seeing the cliff just continue forever. It looked, so dumb. She almost expected her legs to hurt after walking so much, but they were perfectly fine! It was her brain exhausted, not her body.
And so, she sighed and dramatically flopped onto her back with a loud thud. Laguna wasn't giving up entirely, but it certainly did look like it. Give her 5 minutes, and she'd try again.

Manish found himself wandering. It wasn’t that he was lost and didn’t know where he was, of course not, Manish just hadn’t been to this area yet and wanted to check it out. That was definitely it. As he strolled along the ledge, he saw something in the distance. It looked like a body. A dead body. Manish was fairly certain that if he could sweat in-game he would be. Stress mushrooms were sprouting around his feet and he considered turning around and walking in the opposite direction.
But what if they weren’t dead? What if they needed help? He couldn’t just leave them there! Manish took a deep breath and carefully walked closer until he crouched down on the edge of the cliff to look down at the person laying below.
“Um, hello? Are you dead? Please don’t uh, don’t be dead? I don’t think I could handle um. That. Uh. Do you uh, do you need help if you aren’t um, dead? Please don’t be dead.”

Laguna blinked and then blinked again.
She hadn't been totally paying attention, but someone asking if she was dead was pretty hard to miss. Her eyes opened wide as she looked up at the person on the cliff, quite frankly she hadn't expected anyone else to be around. Her cheeks were definitely a slight shade of pink as she sat upright a bit.
"... Dead? I mean, no I don't think I'm dead?" The girl would chuckle quietly to herself, shaking her head in response. "I wouldn't be in the game still if I was dead, silly! Still, I would love some help, if you can."
She'd stumble up to her feet, obviously off balance. It took her a few moments to catch her footing, only to walk up to the bottom of the cliff, setting the package down upon it. "Can you, maybe lift me up? I'm stuck on this starting side-quest to deliver the package, but these cliffs are just giving me hell."
Of course, her cheeks were burning red at this point simply asking for help, but what else was she going to do? She'd much rather take the hit to her pride than remain stuck beneath this cliff for the next twelve hours.

Manish let out a sigh of relief. “Oh thank goodness. I don’t even know what the uh, you know, what the process is for reporting a, um, a dead body? Probably telling Codie.” Manish poked at one of the mushrooms near his hand before realizing that it was his turn to talk again.
“Oh! Yes! I can definitely uh, help!” He glanced at the package she set down on the cliff near him and he tried to casually move it a little further away from him. He didn’t know what was with the package, but she probably didn’t want mushrooms sprouting from it. That didn’t seem like a good way to make friends.
Manish braced himself on his knees and held out both hands, “Yeah, uh yeah sure! I can probably do that. Here, just uh, grab my hands and I’ll um. Pull? While you jump? That should work. Probably. I mean, yeah it will. If not, I uh, I can ask Ryan to help. He lowered me off a ledge once, so it’s basically the same thing just in reverse. Um. Yeah. Not important. Anyway!” Manish moved a little closer to the ledge and prepared to pull.

Mushrooms were sprouting nearby him! That alone was pretty cool, and it distracted her for a brief moment. Just how many different trainer classes existed? She would definitely have to look into it later! Her flustered state was quickly replaced by her sheer curiosity.
As he reached his hands down, she'd reach up to grab hold of his hands. It always felt so strange to touch something, let alone another person, in this virtual world. Just felt way too real, her brain really didn't know what to make of it.
"Well, before I wonder who Ryan is, I should probably ask who you are! I'm Laguna, by the way. And I um, I'm ready! Pull!" She'd move right up against the cliff's edge, jumping as soon as he pulled.
Presuming everything went well, she'd eventually tumble to the ground up at the top of the cliff onto her knees, laughing with a smile on her face. They were bound to be a bit filthy from all her tumbles recently, but she just kept on smiling regardless. "Heh, could have been worse. Thanks for the help! Mind if I ask where you are heading off to?"

Lucky had been touring the tutorials for a good while now. There was a moment, however, where Laguna decided to take a break and allow Lucky himself to go on ahead without her. He reluctantly agreed, if only being around made the man nervous as hell over his own silly fibbery that he had woven. After passing the climbing tutorial and hitting the next, however, he'd noted that Laguna would fall behind him due to his draconic diligence to clear everything in one go.
He decided to go check up on her to see whether she wanted to keep going or not. To his surprise, she was already at it-just that she was stuck on a four foot cliff. He'd originally come to this side just to say hello to the Manish lad that he noticed in the distance, but he also happened to spot the struggling girl nearby as he approached.
"Wondering where to head off to, you said? I seeme to have caught you at the right time! How about the three of us press onward after me? I figured out where to head off to next!" He waved over the two as they met together at the top of the cliff. As Lucky caught their attentions he gestured in the direction where the next spot of training supposedly was according to him.

Manish gave a steady pull until Laguna was steady on the ledge and he gave her a smile. “Oh right! Yeah, um, hi, I’m Manish. Uh, Ryan is my pokemon. He’s uh, yeah he’s pretty great.” Once Manish was sure she wasn’t going to tumble backwards off the cliff again he let go and rubbed at the back of his neck. He wasn’t sure where he was going, actually. He had just kind of been going.
Luckily, he was saved from answering by Lucky’s appearance. The moment of joy of seeing a familiar face was quickly overtaken by Manishy realizing that now he had two people to interact with. He was barely capable of one! Several mushrooms started to sprout in his hair. “Um, hello. Again. Uh, well, not really again. Sort of again. I mean, I’ve uh seen you? Around? Uh…anyway!” Manish shot to his feet and took a few steps in the direction Lucky was gesturing.
“I will uh, happily come along! Um, if that’s okay?”

Natsuki was wandering around the area, having ignored the 4 tutorials that she had been offered as she couldn’t help but get herself straight into the game. She was just wandering around the wilderness until she hears voices in the distance, stopping for a moment before following their direction. Currently she had no personal goals... and thought the best thing to do in an open world like this was just to make friends!
”I wonder how many people are in this test... not many, right? It was already a nightmare to even sign up...” She muttered to herself, still following the voices.
Within a few minutes she finally arrived at the location, being on the lower side of the cliff as she looked up to the three figures.
”I could hear you all from a mile away, sounds like you three are having fun?” The girl asked, walking up to the cliff and hopping up, swiftly grabbing onto the ledge and forcing herself up with a roll. The girl wore a blue gradient floral kimono with what seemed like a sheath for a katana tied in her waist ribbon alongside a single poke ball.

A quick glance was all it took to notice the other newcomer. How had he not noticed someone as stand-out as this when he could see Manish of all people from the far distance? "Aye, you could say that. I'm just about to lead these two here through a few obstacles for the sake of a tutorial," He explains, "And you're more than free to bunk along if you're fierce for the thought."
Lucky got right to what he said he was going to do. Leading the way down the grass fields led out towards a wide river, one that crossed as far at the eye was willing to conveniently see at the moment. According to the HUD, the players were to cross this river by whatever means they had available.
"And so, I'll be seeing you all on the other side!" Lucky leapt into the river in question, already beginning to swim boldly to the other side. He seemed to be doing pretty well, and the river didn't that strong of a flow. Surely things would be fine.

Ryan was his pokemon? That was such a simple name for a Pokemon, it was kind of adorable! She stretched her legs slowly, attempting to regain her balance. Before she could respond, Lucky had appeared! She hadn't seen him since she left Mom's house. She'd wave her hand over towards him, only to pause in confusion. "Oh, no I know where to go-"
She had studied the map plenty, she had already even planned out her route! Before she could audibly complain, however, someone new arrived wearing a kimono. Was everyone just doing the same tutorial at once? She quite frankly didn't know what to make of it. Did the professor really just have a boatload of packages to be sent? What exactly was the excuse?
In any case, one of Lucky's next words struck a nerve. Lead these two? As in, her and Manish? He had just arrived himself! It wasn't as if he knew any better! Laguna's frustration was obvious as she pouted quite visibly. Perhaps she was overreacting... but she had enough of people trying to lead her places in person.
"Uhuh, right. Oh, lead the way, fearless leader. We all have the same map, you know!" She'd turn to Manish, a soft smile quickly replacing her annoyed expression. "Of course, you can come with. If you're not great at swimming, I can wait for you or even help you across, huh?"
She'd finally let out a sigh and slide down to the river's edge. As a Swimmer, this really wasn't a challenge at all. She'd slip right into the shallow river and promptly make her way into the middle of the water. Her legs kicking in the water, Laguna's movements for once graceful compared to the unbalanced awkward way she ran.

Lucky was the kind of guy who could hear when something foul enter a girl's voice. It just came with the intuition he was born with as a girl. Unfortunately, the sound of rushing water drowned out most of what Laguna had to say, but Lucky could at least hear that something was just a bit dangerous with what he'd said, and he had a whole river's length to figure out what he did to strike a nerve.
And by the time he got out of his side of the river, he had the perfect opportunity to talk about it, too. Laguna had gotten to the other side before him once again.
"Hot damn, lass! How do you keep crashing through like that? You should hit up the Olympics when they open up in this game... Hell, you should be the one leading us around if I'm just gonna keep falling behind ya. All I've got to offer was a quick detour that-a-way to get to where we needed." Lucky gestures off towards a crack in the forest's treeline. It indeed didn't seem like the intended path that the route had, but it did seem like the objective was straight ahead in that direction whereas the dusty trail would curve around somewhere else. It seemed to be a series of odd squeezes, though, and might possibly need a feat of flexibility to get through-something the tutorial spent no time wasted to let the party of four know about.
