What the fuck just happened?
He ordered Pierce to scratch the fish, and then what did the fish do? He remembered getting whacked again by something. Was it Pierce? Oh, smug ass cat was on his lap. Okay, maybe it was a bad idea to send his supporting Pokemon against a crazy fish. When he checked his UI, at least his other Pokemon were automatically withdrawn and sent with him, and this shrine wasn't too far from where he was fishing from...If he ran, would he be able to make it back in time to get his fish? He worked hard for that!
Standing up, he felt his body tremble from soreness, but his desire to get his prize was stronger than the pain bouncing around. He groaned and grumbled before making his way back to the pond, with Pierce just being carried like a hand bag.

Shrines, huh? Taro had not visited one before, but now they're here to heal up their pokémon a little bit. After all they'd gone through, it was a well deserved rest. Except....
"What kind of activity do I need to perform in order to recover? A prayer? A ritual?" The masked mystery figure wasn't quite sure how to actually heal up. After inspecting this odd place for a good chunk of 15 minutes, Taro figured it out through in-game logics. He took a deep breath and looked down into the abyss-like portal. He wasn't going to jump in, instead he would just stand there for a bit in silence, waiting for the healing energies of the Precipice Shrine to do their job...
These shrines were new to them, and they definitely were a little bit weird to work with... But hey, they'd better get used to them if they wished to survive in this game.

lacrimosa made his way to the shrine. he could feel the energy of it reaching for it, seeking to purge the Corruption from him. he would need to be fast. he had no intention of letting himself be "cleansed."
he had one goal, only. the espurr was dumped from the pokeball, and dragged to the edge of the shrine. it stretched down into eternity. the espurr was reluctant, trying to pull free. lacrimosa ignored it.
"the stakes were made clear." lacrimosa hissed. the espurr trembled, and tried to yank free again. it let out a pathetic little cry.
{tw: animal abuse / basilisk req}lacrimosa picked it up, and grabbed, twisting. the creature cried again, and then went limp.
the espurr was tossed, carelessly, into the shrine. exalt spoke of respect, of raising someone to heights. sacrifice- that was more suiting. something cut down to make way for something stronger.
lacrimosa regarded the eye in his hand, and quietly put it in his inventory, and quickly fled the influence of the shrine.

Tiernan sat, at the edge of the Shrine. His pokemon sat beside him, tired. Rae's eyes were closed. He gently stroked Fal'inrush's feathers, letting the quiet of the Shrine wash over them. "I'll do better about protecting you in the future." He promised, voice soft. But how was he to do that? Was the fighting not their natural drive?
How was he to interfere with that? Should he?

He made his way to Precipice. He stood at the edge of the Shrine, feeling that sensation of being noticed, of being known. Verai closed his eyes, and took a slow breath.
This was not simply a place for Articuno, one of the great birds, but also for dreams. For hopes, and could-have-beens. Could potentially be. The area was clean, flowers thriving on the cliff's edge. No litter or noticeable destruction. There was little for Verai to do to physically restore the space.
So, he made a different offering- he offered a dream, a fervent, impossible hope. One that, against all odds, had started to blossom here, in another world, at the Shrine devoted to dreams. So, he left his dream there, amidst the flower petals and chill grass, and gratitude for allowing such a possibility.

A brief visitation, because it had been a while since he stepped into UNOVR, and it looked like a figurative storm was brewing. The raid was only the beginning to something much, much larger. He would need to be prepared to see it through, because it felt like he was tangled in too deep to just give up and never know what was going to happen next.
<So what's the plan, Master?> Aegis asked, lightly shaking his head to shake off the chill from the imposing hole.
❝Well, we will fight. We need to prepare.❞ he muttered. ❝Ready to grow stronger?❞
<Oohh, will I get bigger again?>
❝I guess so. I haven't seen an evolution where a Pokemon doesn't get bigger, I think.❞

Red Vel sat by the shrine, by the misty air and chill demeanor. His head hurt, migraine pounding behind his eyes. Was this- was this normal? A result from playing too long, or-
Or from whatever had happened in Mistra.
He shivered, looking up into the sharp, branching trees. Maybe… maybe the shrine would help. He could only hope.

A teenage girl in a baseball cap stood among the flowers, looking down into the vast, closed eye of the Precipice Shrine.
In the right light, the surface glimmered with a faint, soap-bubble sheen. She remembered seeing it for the first time when she woke up here with the others, laying near the mouth of the pit with dawn bright on the horizon. It had all seemed so hazy at the time. She hadn't been able to remember what had happened on the other side in the Princess's realm. Even now, the details felt muddy, like something she'd dreamed long ago.
"Hey, Articuno," the girl said. "I mean, King Articuno." She made as if to kneel, then bow, then awkwardly got on one knee like she was going to propose. She cleared her throat. "It's me, Yggy. I mean, Duke Yggy. I don't know, maybe you don't remember me."
In truth, she was barely acquainted with the storybook king. She had done him disservice after disservice, stabbed him in the back more than once. She'd voted for the Princess. She'd refused to deliver his dying words to Zapdos.
"I brought you this Houndour to... uh, like, help protect the shrine," Yggy said, in an inspired attempt to sound contrite. She managed to pull off 'guilty'. "Just don't eat it or anything, okay? Those bat wings were gross."
Yggy exalts houndour to the precipice shrine

Small, blackened twigs hop around the edge of the abyss, the bird's dainty feet moving with no rush and no concern over falling. Long feathers of a deep purple trail behind her like streamers and this too doesn't seem to particularly concern her.
Tuesday doesn't ask Abaddon what she's doing, she simply watches the legendary that is no more than an infant while sitting by the shrine as she did so often once. One day, Abby will be large enough to soar over the Precipice and carry Tuesday with her, but for now, she's small and loves to run around the shrine...

He wasn't entirely sure how he'd gotten to the shrine in the end. He knew he'd started on Route 3, but he'd been wandering for so long that he was pretty sure he'd long since left the Surge Steppes. It was so easy to get lost in this game, to stare at the scenery around you with your little battle pals for company, to dream up adventures as you looked out over maps and quests and other things open for you to get your hands on, and to just enjoy... walking. Sauntering. Strolling. It wasn't something he'd ever thought he'd miss, always more of a 'destination' person than a 'journey' one. Whether it was UNOVR that was changing his mind on that or other circumstances in the real world, he wasn't sure, but either way, it was quickly becoming an in-game hobby.
For not the first time, he'd whiled away hours accidentally, and it was only reaching the shrine that had really alerted him to that. A gaping hole in the ground was interrupting his leisurely amble after all, and it couldn't help but refocus him on more than just observing the world around him. Shrines healed you, right? It was probably good to know where one was then. He pulled up his map, taking in where he currently was and trying to work out where he'd come from. Okay, cool, from here, and he could get to it from here too if he went this way, and there was a symbol like this over here too, and yeah that made sense. Closing the map with a bit more understanding of where he was, he walked up to the large hole and peered in at the strange void deep within. This game had the weirdest scenery, probably all connected to lore that he hadn't unlocked yet. Oh well, he had all the time in the world to learn about it really.

Abaddon was less than pleased about his Pokemon's performance. It missed TWICE and had the gall to get knocked out! Sure, that phantump was strong. Like, really strong. But that wasn't any damn excuse! The stupid bird better get stronger or he might actually turn it into fried chicken! Grumbling he picked up the unconscious creature as he held it in his lap. Peering into the abyss, he stared blankly at it. Irritated but not completely bummed out. "Whatever shrine... Pokemon Center... or something' heal my stupid ass bird."

He was SO damn close! Almost halfway in the damn thing's HP! But he wasn't gonna give up! He was gonna get KFC ready again for another round of trouncing. Whether it or the stupid Phantump! "Heal it up already, I wanna kick that stupid ass Pokemon's ass." He frowns at the abyss. "Hurry up, I got places to be."

Abaddon returned to the Precipice Shrine seething. He was so fucking CLOSE! Only for his Pokemon to be hit with a critical hit! Now he was once again bringing his useless starter pokemon back to the shrine for like the FOURTH TIME! But, he wasn't done... This wasn't over. That Phantump was getting caught! And nothing would stop him! He glared at the abyssal black below. Wanting the shrine to hurry the hell up... He had a Pokemon to catch...

He may have thrown off his vr headseat and cursed for a few minutes... After that last failure, he couldn't contain himself and punched a pillow. Extremely pissed off. After he calmed down he went back to the game to heal his Pokemon. All he had to do was finish that stupid Pokemon off! Right now though... KFC needed to be healed.

"Do you feel anything?"
Cross-legged, Tuesday sits at the edge of the precipice, and by her side stands a bird as big and round as a Volleyball ball, their feathers violet in colour. This oh-so-rotund hatchling tilts her head, staring into the abyss after which she had been named.
<'One does not.'>
"Really? I figured there might be some sort of innate connection or something..."
Why does she feel relieved? Why is she glad that Abaddon doesn't feel bound to this place? It is because of the grudges that she still holds after what the Precipice had done to her? Silent, Tuesday watches the small Articuno hop along the edge.
<'One likes the sparkles.'>
Ah.
That's a bird's brain for you.
At that, Tuesday can't help but chuckle.
"Of course you do."
