BETHANY'S BOUDOIRWaves upon waves of black satin rustle as you step through the peaked, iron-wrought doorway. The young, ornately-garbed shopkeeper lights another candle as you enter her shop, which flickers with ambient torchlight. "Welcome," she speaks throatily, turning to greet you. Behind her, you can see Pokeballs arranged carefully in small stone cases like miniature coffins, each dusty with apparent age. "Do you come to... make a deal?"
Her eyes stretch wide, luminous, and she gives you a smile that glints like moonlight.

- To make a trade, simply post in this thread listing the Pokemon you want to trade. After that, make a request in Mod Requests and a mod will update your Character Record.
- Trades are usually unequal. This is a great method for getting rid of unwanted PC Pokemon you may have acquired.
- Available PKMN Deals are semi-permanent and will only be changed out rarely, if at all.

"Hey!" Kath shouted.
The doorway was too small.
"Hey!" Kath shouted again. "The doorway is too small!"
Bethany stuck her head out of the doorway to Bethany's Boudoir.
She was presented with the sight of Kath Ulu riding upon the top of her unusually large Torterra, arms crossed and a perturbed look on her face.
"Your doorway needs to be bigger," Kath said pointedly.
The young goth retreated from the sunlight without saying a word.
"This is discrimination!" Kath said as she slid off the back of her massive Torterra. "I'll be back, okay?"
The Torterra whinnied approvingly.
Kath entered the store, brushing black satin away from her face, and tearing down beads.
"This is fucked," she said as she approached the counter.
"Do you come to... make a deal?"
"Yeah, yeah. I don't want this otter thing, my friend told me some shit about sea otters and I don't like looking at it anymore. And this Tepig thing was upsetting my Chikorita."
"A trade."
"Right, right, a trade. Gimme uhh..." Kath scanned the room with her finger. Her options were plentiful, but the decision was easy.
"Gimme that!" She pointed at the Psyduck. "What the fuck is that thing!?"
"Psy-duck," said Psyduck.
"Ohhohoho fuck, that thing is fucked. Look at its eyes. Bulby's gonna love this."

Bethany's wide eyes take in the trainer and her giant Pokemon. "Very well then," she says, her black lipstick contrasting the shine of her crescent smile. She takes the two offered Pokemon, and moves to the display cabinets in a rustle of black satin.
Stone grinds as she removes the lid from the Psyduck's miniature coffin, and retrieves the ball. It's covered in a thin layer of dust, as if years have passed since it was put to rest. "One of our more popular items," she says, holding up the ball so that it reflects the flickering lights.
She places it in your hand, staring deep into your eyes. "The pact is sealed," she whispers.

It had taken a long time to scrounge together pokemon needed for this. Furrlicity would have been done a lot sooner if he hadn't found he liked a few of the pokemon he had captured and wanted to keep them. They had spunk and personality in some way. Pushing through the door, he spares the off woman and her even odder coffins a look before pushing forward.
"I'd like a Nincada." Opening his inventory, pokeball after pokeball is dropped on the table. Eventually, ten of the shiny capsules sit there, waiting to be plucked and taken by the woman. "These are all pokemon from the Birchwild. It's, uh... three Paras, two Petilil, a Skwovet, Sewaddle, Deerling, Shroomish, and Jigglypuff." He checked his inventory again. Had to make sure he didn't accidentally trade in Cream or the EVIL Shroomish. He wanted to keep those two.

Bethany's black lips part as she whispers across the counter. "Oh my," she says, with a voice like a creaking graveyard willow. "I never thought this day would come."
She retrieved a small step ladder and climbs to the top shelf of the store, where a single, elegant coffin has been watching over the shop since time immemorial. The coloration of the tiny coffin is split right down the middle. Black on the left and white on the right. "A creature of duality, living in both life and death," she says, setting the tiny coffin on the counter. "As we all are, I suppose."
Furrlicity's Pokeballs disappear beneath the counter, and the coffin slides open, revealing the rare prize within. "Enjoy your time together, while it lasts."

Olga shouldered her way into Bethany’s Boudoir, bouncing a pokeball in her hand. “Olga want different pokemon. Olga got lizard. Olda don’t want lizard. Olga trade lizard for puny horse.” She pointed at the sign indicating the one-for-one trade for a Mudbray. Sure the tiny thing wasn’t much use to her know, but she knew that once it evolved it would be a decent companion. Or at least something that could compete with her in sheer muscle mass, and that was good enough for her. OLGA offers to trade TREECKO for MUDBRAY |

Lightning flashes outside. The shadow of a black stallion rears in the sudden flash of light, cast across the stone wall. Then it is gone, leaving only Gothic Bethany, standing like a dark tree alone in a courtyard.
"The deal is made," she whispers. "Our contract... set."
She pricks her finger and a drop of blood spills onto the parchment on the counter.
With her other hand, she procures a single Pokeball from one of the tiny coffins, which shines like ruby lips and Seviper fangs.

Orion would kick open the door to the Bodoir, moseying in like he imagined a real cowboy would do if they were sauntering into a boudoir. He wasn't quite sure what a boudoir was, and at this point he was too afraid to ask, but he had heard tale that he could snag a mighty rad pokebro here, and all it would cost him was three c string boys. Did he feel guilty about trading them like...pokemon cards?
A little.
Drawing out the pokeballs from his pocket, he would simply state. "Trade deal, a Tepig, Klink, and a Drillbur for a great and mighty whimpod!"

"Well, if you are quite sure," Bethany says, her eyes gleaming with the sheen of the void.
She arranges the Pokéballs in a triangle and joins hands with you across the counter. The candles dim, and her voice fades to a whisper in orioncayge's ear.
"Oh creature of the deep, born under sand and wave, we offer you three things to bring you forth from your slumber. First, the still living flesh of a roasted beast." Tepig's Pokéball shudders as she speaks, clicking against the counter.
"Second, the churning steel of an eternal machine, turned by unseen hands." Klink's Pokéball shakes too, adding to the disconcerting ambience.
"Last, a creature of the under-earth. Like you it lives its life underneath, away from the light of the day." Drilbur's Pokéball rattles, and lines of cruel light join the three Pokéballs. Bethany clutches Orion's hands as something rises up through the counter. A Pokéball, as black as the Mariana Trench emerges from the polished wood, and Bethany gestures for you to take it.
"Enjoy your new master," she says, and while many would assume she is speaking to the Wimpod, you get the strange feeling she's talking to you.

Finn steps up to Bethany's Boudoir for the first time, eyes wide with wonder.
"Hey. Are you the same Bethany from Beta Island?"
There's no way, right? ...Right?
"Ancient terror, huh? That sounds like it'll be great for my cult." He doesn't miss a beat as he pulls out a few Pokemon and drops them unceremoniously before her. "Will these do?"
He gestures toward the LITTEN, RELICANTH, and GALARIAN MEOWTH. The Litten had been with him from early days, but she was illegal now and that was an inconvenience he simply no longer wished to afford. |

In the light of a dozen candles Bethany's skin gleams like polished porcelain, and her voice is just as cold. "Another outsider, come to knock on the door of That Which Dwells Beneath."
She arranges the Pokéballs in a triangle and joins hands with you across the counter, but freezes as she does so. "I sense something about you. Your skin. Hands, wet from the rain. But it hasn't rained in days."
"Could it be that you are already formally acquainted with one of the Deep Ones?"
Something enormous passes through the space behind Gothic Bethany's eyes, and she clutches your hands more firmly.
"Oh lords of the reef and the wave. Spirits of the shipwrecked masses and souls of the broken raft! We offer you three things in exchange for the opening of your ancient eyes. First, a ferocious hunter with fur blackened by flame. Barred from civilization and hated for no crime other than its existence." Litten's Pokéball rattles.
"Second, another prowler, with iron teeth and a tarnished gold offering of its own." Galarian Meowth's ball shakes too, a clattering counterpoint to Litten.
"Last, a cousin. An aquatic king from ages long past. A creature that has been gripped by the cruel tentacle of time and slipped away, refusing the call of What Lies Beyond and Beneath." Relicanth's Pokéball rocks slowly back and forth, unhurried even now. A crack of light snaps across the countertop, like a storm far out to sea, and suddenly the trio are gone. In their place, a dark Pokeball waits.
Bethany hands it to you. It's cold with depth and slick with condensation.
"May you be stronger than you believe possible, and may that be enough."

"Damn, pretty sweet shop you got here." Is the first thing Tuesday says when stepping into Bethany’s Boudoir, even giving a short whistle in appreciation. Businesswoman to businesswoman, she enjoys seeing what the other shops in the developing settlement have in stock.
That’s the thing: she really doesn’t have a need or want for Bethany’s wares, but she did want to check out the shop.
It would be rude not to do a trade, right? Especially when she has so many pokémon for which she has no particular plan (oh, the might of fodder).
"So, ten pokémon for one, huh? That’s a good profit if I’ve ever seen one. How’d you get all these pokémon?" Given the nature of her wares, Bethany MUST be an NPC, right? Unless she has some way to find pokémon no one else can find…
If so, Tuesday would love to get an in on that.
"Think I’ll just take one of those little bugs for now, though. I have a personal grudge against them."
Tuesday’s words are as ominous as the serious stare she gives System Admin:Bethany2. She’s still not over the delivery her and Sarah Lee had to do for Professor Ash.
As for what she’ll trade in return…
The pokémon are released and neatly lined before Bethany as if this were their execution. As far as Tuesday is aware, it may just be. Who knows what Bethany does with the pokémon she’s given?

"The Pokemon come from their parents, as well do. And like us they will return to the soil." Bethany says, not really answering Tuesday's question.
Bethany looks at the three offered Pokemon. "We've had a lot of people coming in and asking for Wimpod lately, so you must excuse me. My occult energies are running low." There is a whoosh of black lace as she scoops the balls off the counter and into a bucket labelled BALLS - USED.
"Oh great ancient one, give me your power," she says, heart clearly not in it. "So that I may complete this transaction."
The candles flicker a bit, and she gives you a wet Pokeball.
But even as tired as she is, Bethany has some ominous parting words for you. "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer, they say. But never forget which is which."

There came a knocking upon the door.
Not the sharp, staccato rapping of swift, light taps of knuckle upon iron, too fearful of pain to bring true force to bear upon the barrier, no - his arrival is heralded by the thundrous booming of flesh-clad bone upon unyielding metal, the hollow concussion of sound beat into life with all the slow, deliberate cadence of a funeral march.
He passed the threshold, heavily booted feet thudding upon the floor without hesitation or haste. His was a measured gait, steady and inevitable as the entropic unwinding of existence before the relentless erosion of time. The giant loomed forth from the dark, clad all in deepest, stygian black, which would be unrelieved, were it not for the glorious gleam of polished bronze upon his left forearm. That arcane device throbbed with sanguine luminescence, a pulsing glow running through the arterial veins that lined its exquisite form in time with its bearers heart. The hand that drifted forth from his side was a match for the graven, regal severity of the statuesque figure's face, craggy and lined, worn by time and hardship, but unbowed and unbroken. Within its scarred, powerful fingers was clutched a pokeball, which he sets upon the counter with a soft 'click' - a gentle relinquishing, with all the sobriety and cermony that such a transaction was due.
The voice, oh, the voice! Truly, if mountains could speak, if primordial conquest could be given voice, that was the tectonic, bass rumble with which they would spake. It was so deep, so pleasantly rough, that the air shuddered before its passage, resonating through the umbral splendour of the boudoir as if reality itself had been struck a terrible blow - or shivered in pleasure as its caress.
"A soul for a soul, dread witch, emissary of night and fae dealer of fell bargains. I come to claim what is mine. I require a steed befitting of my will, my intent."

Gothic Bethany nods somberly at the stranger's portentous words of the stranger. His gravitas and dark presence meld perfectly with the somber tone of the boudoir. This is clearly a man who walks the Dark Path. He even used her full title.
"A fell bargain indeed," Gothic Bethany agrees, and she takes the Doduo Pokeball from Bronze with her left hand, offering a blackened Pokeball with her right. She stops just short of dropping the ball into Bronze's hand and looks up at him, her eyes glinting like flecks of obsidian. "Can any life ever truly lay claim another?" she queries.
"No soul exists in isolation. And you may find that those nearest you, those you seek to hold and shape, end up shaping you just as much in turn." She drops the ball into Bronze's hand. It is heavy with potential, and dark expectation.
