"Aw, c'mon! Catch, Quacxee!"Yggy tossed a ball to QUACXEE. It pinged off her smooth body and rolled to the ground, just as it had all the other attempts. "Man," Yggy sighed loudly, shoulders slumping. She swished through the tall grass to collect the ball and returned to her starting position. "C0D13 used to play catch with me all the time."That was putting it generously. C0D13's flat faces had been easy to bounce off of, and it had been good practice trying to predict the trajectory of the balls. Throwing stuff at QUAXCEE was like throwing water on a duck. The Porygon-ripoff continued to float in the air, looking pleasingly cartoonish and feminine to the eye. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that..." the new AI said politely after a moment. "No duh," Yggy couldn't stop herself from saying, annoyed. "Maybe you need the catching tutorial, QUACXEE...""Got it. I'll initiate the <Catching Tutorial>! Was this helpful? [YES] [NO]""NO!"Yggy had lost count of the number of times C0D13 had glitched out and tried to start a catching tutorial with her. She'd usually been able to run away, and this was her plan now... except that Manish's Rival from the Starting Town showed up. "Hah? You can't even catch a simple Pokemon? That's a basic chord, man," the snapback-wearing Rival exclaimed, jumping out of the grass. "Let me show you how it's done. First, open your catching menu."Yggy had had about enough of this. Putting both hands around her mouth, she filled her lungs and screamed at the top of her range. "HELP ME! SOMEONE HELP ME!""Hi, Yggy! How can I help you?" QUAXCEE piped up. Yggy took a deep breath and screamed even louder. The Rival continued smugly demonstrating the catching tutorial, deaf to her protests. TAG: @open

Lucky was having a tedious day. First he had worked himself to death over updating the launch code just to make sure people could login to the game in the newest version on time. Now that he was in UNOVR itself, he was just crashing out the last tutorials, because they just kept popping up on his HUD and sometimes even replaced his side-quests on the tracker. It was violently obnoxious. He'd just finished the catching tutorial. It had been a bit troublesome listening to at least three people (Including his RIVAL) talk about catching Pokémon, but thankfully that time had come to a close. He wouldn't have to worry about this tutorial again... Or so he thought. Fate had other plans in store for poor Lucky today. He heard the cry for help. It sounded so different to what he was used to, and yet it was so familiar that he found himself walking towards it on instinct just as every time that Yggy had just about died around him. --That wasn't Yggy, though. Sure looked like him, acted like him... Actually, was it him? Lucky would ask later. First of all, he needed to see what was even going on. It didn't take long for Lucky to understand that this poor girl was also frustrated to tears about the tutorial. Hell, Lucky was still annoyed just looking at that RIVAL's dumb face. "Oi, lass. I heard you from a block away! You just about creek up with this stuff, too?""Woah dude, no need to fret so hard over a little neck like this. Just hit the catching menu, it's just a minor step-""Oi, stuff it."The RIVAL's musical stint of insults were quite rudely cut off by Lucky's blunt attack. He just up and tossed a Pokéball at the guy to get him to shut up. The ball dinked off the man's head, cutting his speech short. Lucky cringed at the sight, feeling a bit guilty at that-he'd meant to aim for a bodyshot. Nobody likes a dink to the head. Lucky was about to offer to scram from this place with the girl, but... The RIVAL turned his gaze to Lucky. That hollow, hateful gaze. "Shut your 𝄞𝄴 𝇓𝇓𝇓𝇓 .""Uh." [WELCOME TO THE CATCHING TUTORIAL! WE'LL TEACH YOU HOW TO CATCH A POKEMON!] "No!" He'd just completed this tutorial! Surely there was no way he'd be made to do it a second time?! Yet the furious RIVAL payed no heed to his plight. In fact, this tutorial felt more menacing then the previous one somehow. A storm was brewing behind the back of that RIVAL, a kicking column of dust and silt that obscured Lucky's sight. Lucky only knew one thing-Something was coming out of it. "So first, you've gotta battle the Pokémon to weaken it. Here's one now. Don't lose your 𝅜 on me now." What came out to roar at Lucky was not a Pokémon that should have been here. [[PUNISHING BEAST (LEVEL 60)]] "O-oi. I don't think that's what we're supposed to-""Fight the Pokémon to weaken it."Lucky had little else to say. The monster had already begun the charge to trample the poor lad into the dirt. Lucky did what he could to get out of the way and send out Omen as quickly as he could, swearing left and right all the way like a true sailor should as the Decidueye let loose a furious cry at the Punishing Beast. The great faceoff to end all tutorials began now.

PUNISHING BEAST - LEVEL 60 TYRANNITAR
You have encountered a dangerous foe. Help our rival catch his new Pokémon! The rules are as follows:
HP: 2,000 MOVE TYPES: Dark, Rock, Fire, Ice, Electric, Steel and Ground type moves. A level 60 Tyrannitar. WEAKNESSES: Steel, Water, Fairy, Grass, Bug, Ground, Fighting (+20 Damage) BONUS PROMPT: Rag on Lucky Guy for being a dingus or be very afraid for a +5 to offense or defense.
TACTICS Each post, he will attack a Pokémon, dealing 5d20 DAMAGE to that Pokémon. PUNISHING BEAST will prioritize attacking with a Super-effective move (Dealing +20 Damage!). If he has a choice of who to target with a super-effective move, or no targets apply for super-effective damage, he will then prioritize attacking the Pokémon out with the LOWEST HP.
TANK Pokémon may choose to not attack, instead TAUNTING to cause PUNISHING BEAST to ignore normal targeting rules in lieu of attacking that Tank instead. TAUNTING costs 50 HP to use, as your Pokémon is going up-front and personal with this BEAST.
Upon reaching 1,000 HP, he will begin charging a disruptable EARTHQUAKE, which he will release at 500 HP. This attack will damage every Pokemon currently out, dealing 4d100 damage.
On a turn where PUNISHING BEAST uses Earthquake, it does NOT use its standard 5d20 attack.
-----
Players may have up to three Pokémon out at a time, and a maximum of six Pokémon may be out at a time. Players are still free to join-It's an open thread unless M00k says otherwise! Unless generously stated otherwise, the reward for winning is not dying.

"Oh, hey Lucky! It's me, Yggy! I changed my avatar after—" Her grin faltered, and her character model seemed to flicker. "After—"Maybe it was the fact that Lucky had already completed the Catching Tutorial which made the difficulty level increase. Maybe Yggy's senseless screaming had knocked some sensor loose in the NPC's brain. Or maybe when the corruption had left Asper, it had gone somewhere else: a man-shaped, infinite well of musical puns. The tomboy took a step back, and then another as the massive Tyranitar spawned in the tall grass, towering above them. Is that a Colossal Pokemon outside the arena? she thought, open-mouthed. I've never done a Colossal battle without Manish and Big Bee...She had time to send an emergency summons to Manish (no text) but not Big Bee before the Tyranitar's tail came down with a whump, flattening the tall grass and sending QUAXCEE flying. Yggy scrambled on her hands and knees, fumbling for a Pokeball. "Oh boy, it's really big—"After seeing Kyogre, nothing should have seemed that big ever again. Yggy's model flickered again, pixels buzzing around her outline. No, it wasn't a colossal Pokemon. Just a Tyranitar. Just a Tyranitar. "Eat Ducker!" Yggy yelled boldly, sending out her trusty Farfetch'd. Since his big leek had been eaten by Gyarados in the raid, Ducker had been changed into a Kantonian Farfetch'd, giving up his powerful weapon in favor of the power of flight. The mallard quacked angrily as he swooped forward, lashing out with his fistful of chives to lash again and again at its spiky head. The Beast turned towards him, fang-rimmed maw gaping hungrily. Bad choice of words? She sent out her Torracat just in time. Tigger let out a fearsome yowl to catch the creature's attention, drawing its aggro away from the defenseless duck. A brutal STONE EDGE forked from the ground, sending the bobcat flying. Her Pokemon did their best to land blows on the Punishing Beast, but the odds were not in their favor. Is its HP going down? What if it's bugged? Yggy wondered, alarmed. FARFETCH'D (210/250 HP) -40 for Fast Atk x4 TORRACAT (360/500 HP) - Damaged by SE Stone Edge (-90), -50 for Taunt

Lucky took the short distraction as a gift from God himself, taking the opportunity to circle around to the other side of the beast. Omen struck wildly at flanking spots, razor blades of leaves lodging into the cracks of the Punishing Beast's carapace-and in some cases, making a few new cracks as well. Lucky already knew that it was enough violence to attract the Tyrannitar's attention-he had to protect her now or never.
A second ball flew from his hand, and a giant then blocked the path between the vulnerable Omen and the Punishing Beast who was turning towards her to enact retribution. A great, twisting form of a scarred Gyarados loomed against the Punishing Beast at eye level.
"Hah! Try beating a water Pokémon, you right cunt!" Lucky jeered, not realizing a vital fact that he would soon be learning-Gyarados was also of the Flying type. Wicked stones fell onto the twisting, loyal serpent Selma, and though he still stood strong in the face of the Punishing Beast it was a terrible blow indeed.
"Fuck! Super effective my--oh. It's a... oh." That was a bit embarrassing, Lucky.
The two grappled mass against each-other, each seeking total victory. The Tyrannitar barely slowed, such was his fury. It was enough to make Lucky just a bit nervous at the sight, even though the health bar told him everything would be okay.
"We could use some support here..!" Lucky found himself blurting out on accident.
"Hi, Lucky Guy! How can I help you?"

Manish was wandering the new region when he got a notification from Yggy on his communicator. Manish opened it to find a blank message. Well that was weird. Could it be an error? Manish briefly thought about ignoring it, but some instinct deep inside Manish rebelled at the thought. What if Yggy was in trouble? What if a fully typed out message couldn’t be sent? That was all the motivation Manish needed to instantly get to Yggy. By the time Manish arrived at the scene, there was already an intense battle happening. There was a giant lizard thing and what looked like the young version of Manish’s rival. Weird. Maybe his rival had a little brother or something? But that wasn’t important, his friends needed his help! He wasn’t totally sure how much help he could provide, but he was going to try. “Hi Lucky!” He waved in a way that he hoped wasn’t too over eager and then he turned to Yggy. Manish squinted his eyes. Something was different. “Hey Yggy, did you cut your hair? It looks nice” and he gave a thumbs up. It was then that Manish turned to really take in their opponent. “Woah,” he whispered. That was a big angry lizard. It was very angry. Manish could feel the familiar sense of fear crawling up his spine. He thought he would be over this after facing down Kyogre and C0D13, but apparently not. Manish took a single step back before he glanced over at Lucky and Yggy. He couldn’t leave them, they were his friends! And friends don’t leave each other even if they are scared. That was a hard learned lesson. Manish took a shaky breath and let out his pokemon. There wasn’t time to mess around, he had to bust out the big guns. In a flash, Ryan and Lucy appeared and looked at their opponent. <Oh I’m gonna kick the crap outta that thing!> Lucy said while jumping around in excitement. “Okay guys, we’re uh, oh geeze it’s big. Okay, no, we’re fine. We can, uh, we can do this. Ryan use Petal Blizzard.” The toad nodded before bracing it’s thick legs and charging up his fungus-covered bulb. It glowed briefly before a torrent of petals shot out at Tyrannitar. RYAN uses PETAL BLIZZARD on TYRANNITAR. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! “Luc, while it’s distracted, get up there with Leafblade.” The words barely left his mouth before Lucy took off running. She jumped up the Tyrannitar, using the conveniently wrapped up Gyarados like a ladder. <Hi-ya!> She yelled once she got to the head and delivered her blows across it’s face. LUCY uses LEAFBLADE on TYRANNITAR. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! She was feeling quite smug about the attack, however that smugness was short lived as the Tyrannitar took a fiery bite at her. TYRANNITAR uses FIRE FANG on LUCY. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! Manish took a few steps closer to Yggy for comfort. This was going to be a tough fight and he just hoped that his help would be enough for his friends. {PETAL BLIZZARD DAMAGE} QpO6FGQ|1d150+35 {LEAFBLADE DAMAGE} 3d20+95 {FIRE FANG DAMAGE} 5d20+20 RYAN: 490/500 LUCY: 172/250 PUNISHING BEAST: 1,490/2000 5d20+20·3d20+95·5d20+20

Thank god! Manish was here! Yggy whipped her magnificent ponytail out of the way as the Punishing Beast took a swing at her. More grasses flattened as she crawled out of the way, Tyranitar swiping at the ground as it searched for the cat and duck who'd disappeared from view. "Yeah, I'm a girl now!" she said to her mustached bro, popping her head up out of the grass. "I thought it'd be cool to play something different!"As different as possible. Anything that didn't feel the way her old body had when it melted into ones and zeros, dissolved by the Recycle Bin. Tyranitar brought its tail down with a crash like a giant hammer. Yggy yelped, diving forward like a runner for home plate to avoid it. Pixels shuddered around her character model as she glitched herself through part of the Punishing Beast, ending up close to Lucky's Rival. "Oh man, that was a close one— yikes!" Why does Lucky's Rival look like that?!Worm-eaten eyes bored into her as Yggy stood, flushing out Ducker from the tall grass like a quail as she hustled back. "Sand Attack, then Fury Cutter again, Ducker!"Sand blasted the Punishing Beast's eyes as Ducker soared over its head, releasing a double-clawful of grit over its head. He swooped around in a tight angle, lashing its head and neck with his green onion. Blinded by the sand, the monstrosity roared, lumbering blindly towards whatever made the most noise. Tigger yowled like an alley cat in the middle of the night from his place in the grasses, infuriating the dark-type. The Punishing Beast began to stomp the ground, its movements like the flailing limbs of a baby caught in a dust devil. Rocks blasted out from its sand-covered form, slamming the area around it. Lucky was processing the situation, learning everything he could to figure out what was best for him to do. What surprisingly stuck his mind in place was the notion that the girl over there was Yggy. She'd been called Yggy, accepted Yggy and had the name floating over her head now that he took the time to look... What had happened? Why such a drastic change? Lucky knew a hot enough puppy-like guy for once in his life and he just changes into a girl overnight? What had Lucky done to the world?
By the time he'd thought about all of these inane thoughts, the two giants had gotten into yet another violent grapple with each-other. The sound of that terrible roar was more than enough to bring Lucky back to his swearing senses.
"Omen!" He called. It was enough to get the Decidueye flying right back into the Punishing Beast's face. The resulting strike left a crack on the Tyrannitar's forehead. Omen was wise enough to not overstay her welcome, instead leaping away as quickly as she could while the Gyarados occupied it.

Manish frowned aggressively at the Punishing Beast. How dare it try to hurt Yggy? “That’s not very nice!” he yelled at the Tyranitar. Was he still quite scared of the thing? Sure, he had seen too many Godzilla movies to not have an innate fear of large angry lizards. But it also wasn’t okay to be mean to Yggy, that was his friend. Manish knew that the best way to fight a large angry lizard was with a larger, more angry, creature. He might not of had an angry creature, but he did have Ryan. “Ryan! It’s time!”<Big time?>“Big time.”<Oh it’s on now!>Manish withdrew Ryan into his pokeball only to press a button on his UI and the ball started to grow and grow until it was large enough that Manish had to hold it with both hands. He threw the ball back out and a gigantamaxed Ryan appeared. The clouds darkened, the background music that Manish hadn’t figured out how to turn off grew ominous, and Ryan let out a loud grow. “Now use Bloom Doom!” In slow motion, Ryan stomped his foot and braced as Manish did the same. Ryan’s fungal bulb glowed until a cascading wave of mushrooms burst out and rushed down his body, across the ground, and up onto the Tyranitar. Once Tyranitar was covered, all the mushrooms started to explode, causing little eruptions to occur all over the Punishing Beast. RYAN uses BLOOM DOOM on TYRANITAR. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! Lucy, for her part, was still trapped in the fiery fangs of Tyranitar. TYRANITAR uses FIRE FANG on LUCY. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! Or at least she was until Ryan’s attack caused the beast to let out a screech and she freed herself. Seeing as how she could once again freely move, Manish called out to her. “Luc! Use Leaf Blade again!” That was all she had to hear. She did a flip in the air and shot back down towards Tyranitar. <Take this, and this, and one of these!>LUCY uses LEAFBLADE on TYRANNITAR. With Manish and Lucky's awesome, fully-evolved grass Pokemon on the field, there should have been nothing to worry about. Right? ...Yggy wasn't competitive, but it was pretty clear Ducker whacking away with her Reduced Half Price Leek wasn't having the same effect as like, y'know, Omen... or the whole Gigantimax Venusaur thing. Wish Watson was here. The Dewott would cleave through the Punishment Beast like a power washer through dry mud. But Yggy didn't have a Dewott anymore, she had an Oshawott. She'd found it half-dissolved in the Recycle Bin, but it was pretty much the same. "Go, Watson!" she called, pulling Ducker back. <I'm not Watson,> the Oshawott said, turning back with wide, surprised eyes. But Yggy couldn't hear her. She'd turned off Pokemon speech after the reset. FARFETCH'D (170/250 HP) - recalled TORRACAT (239/500 HP) - -10 for Chg Atk OSHAWOTT (162/250 HP) - Damaged by SE Thunder Fang (-48), -40 for Fast Atk x4

TORRACAT Charge Attack (Double Kick / Fighting) 1d150 + 20 Supereffective + 10 Rare = 162 DMG Fangs that crackled with silvery electricity closed around the new Oshawott's head like a bear trap. It lifted the water-type off the ground even as she attempted to beat it back with her shell, her swipes barely connecting with its rocky hide. Shadows flashed before Yggy's eyes as the tomboy was treated to a vision of the otter's body going limp, flickering, threatening to fade. "No! Tigger, Double Kick!"A snarl. <You should probably drop her.> Hand-sized paws thundered down as the bobcat slammed into Tyranitar's muzzle, cracking teeth and loosening its jaw. Oshawott flew free, head covered in saliva but (miraculously) still attached. Yggy dove forward to catch her. 5d20+20·4d20·1d150

Yggy dove forward to catch her friend, and the Punishing Beast took offense to that. He would PUNISH, as he was born to do. He reached his frame forward to stomp the two into pixel-dust beneath his heel. Were nothing done about it, that would have yet again spelled the end of Yggy Brooks for another thread's time.
It did not end in such a sad way. There was one who would make sure of this. One Pokemon stood tall in the face of the PUNISHING BEAST's cruelties. A lone Machoke struggled against the staggering weight with all of his might! When had he gotten here? Lucky had gone and replaced Omen when he'd seen that an earthquake was about to happen. He hadn't ordered Pluto to go running off on his own, though-The heroic Machoke had just done so on his own will.
The earth shook under the pressure. A growl was in his throat. The quakes of the earth itself seemed to say, as the PUNISHING BEAST's advances were rejected,
When I FLEX--
The Tyrannitar began to tremble, and the earth began to still. In that moment, Tyrannitar knew the grapple had been lost.
I FEEEEL MY BEST!!!
The PUNISHING BEAST was thrown aside. The incredible power of Machoke was in full display! His mere inspiring presence brought awe and hope, and the Pokémon and human both behind his great frame felt their wounds dullen at the sight. This was not an endless struggle, that they could tell-and their wounds were nothing in the face of determination. As if to confirm this thought, their very HP rose to show that their wounds hadn't been as bad as they'd thought they'd been.
The Tyannitar was forced aside, and stepped into the waiting and poised form of the furious Gyarados who was ready to strike. At the call of "Fire!" from his master's cue, violent torrents of water struck the side of the PUNISHING BEAST's frame. He cried out in pain staggering back. Desperation grew within the Tyrannitar-could it be that he was able to lose?! Omen - (120/200 HP) recalled Pluto - (121/200 HP) -39 from the PUNISHING BEAST's Magnitude, -40 for taking the blow and strain against the Tyrannitar's might (Heal action, STRENGTH move) Selma - (474/700 HP) -10 for Charge Attack

Manish was just trying his best to stay on his feet. The Punishing Beast’s Earthquake was enough to make his teeth rattle in his head even with Lucky’s pokemon keeping it somewhat contained. Once the ground was done shaking and he could think, he immediately looked for his pokemon. Ryan was still standing strong and giant; really it didn’t even look like the attack phased him. Lucy though, Lucy was barely able to push herself up from the ground. “Luc!” Manish yelled and ran over to her. He crouched down to help her back to her feet and she let out a hiss. “Come on, Lucy. Please, it’s okay, you did, you did such a good job.”<You askin’ me to run? To give up!>“Please Lucy…”She let out a rough laugh before patting Manish on the cheek. <I’m a pokemon. This is what we do. We fight till we can’t no more.> She rolled out her shoulders and hissed at the Punishing Beast. <If I’m going out, I wanna take him with me. Please, bossman. Give me this.> Manish really really didn’t want to give her this, but he wasn’t sure Lucy would listen to him if he even tried to call her back at this point. He wiped away at a tear that was snaking down his cheek before nodding. “Okay, Luc. Leafblade, give him heck.” Lucy took off running at the Punishing Beast and let out a wild laugh, <You’re a grown up, bossman. You can say 'hell'.> Lucy jumped up and towards the Punishing Beast’s face. <Like this: I’ll see you in hell you big dumb idiot!> Lucy yelled, blades on her arms glinting. The Tyranitar opened it’s flaming jaw to greet her. LUCY uses LEAFBLADE on TYRANITAR. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! TYRANITAR uses FIRE FANG on LUCY. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! There was a clash of leaves and fire, both pokemon giving their all. But ultimately, the Punishing Beast one and Lucy fell. “Luc!” Manish screamed as he ran forwards. Thankfully Ryan was still giant and used one of his vines to catch her before she hit the ground and he gently lowered her to Manish, who was openly crying. “You did so good, Lucy. So good,” he whispered as he recalled her back into her pokeball. Manish turned to his giant Ryan, wiped his face, and yelled up to him, “Ryan, use Vine Lash.” More than happy to avenge his teammate, Ryan raised his vines in the air before dropping them over and over again onto the Punishing Beast. RYAN uses VINE LASH on TYRANITAR. It’s SUPER EFFECTIVE! {VINE LASH DAMAGE} bCOVJ0fz1d150+50 20 Super Effective + 20 Rarity + 5 Grass Pokemon + 5 Grass Move RYAN: 431/500

TYRANITAR UNLEASHED EARTHQUAKEn2KSONIU4d100 VENUSAUR, MACHOKE, GYARADOS, TORRACAT & OSHAWOTT TAKE DMGThe ground shook and shuddered. There was a distant roar, like an approaching semi truck, before the crash of noise and dissonance slammed into the little patch of Tutorial Grass with a wrecking ball's intensity. From her place on the ground, Yggy flattened herself over the bewildered and drool-covered Oshawott, fingers scrabbling for purchase as the earth itself wavered back and forth, flexing like a sheet of plastic. Roots and chunks of stone tore free as the solid was rendered elastic, sediment bursting from jagged seams in the ground. She heard the little water-type cry out, then fall silent. ... "Guys, return!" Yggy shouted, then broke off, coughing. Still, the beam from her Pokeball sought its targets among the wreckage, and both Torracat and fainted Oshawott were returned regardless of their status. There had never been any danger of losing this battle. Not when she had six Pokemon, and two other players for backup. It's just a game, Yggy thought, hands shaking as she pulled herself back to her feet. The Punishing Beast towered over her like a spiked skyscraper. Its HP bar glimmered a dull, threatening red, battered but not yet beaten despite their efforts, despite Lucy's sacrifice, despite Pluto's protection. Swaying, knees shaking, Yggy took a deep breath that filled her lungs with dust. "It's at 10%! Quick, throw a Pokeball and catch it!"There was a moment of silence. Yggy elbowed Lucky's Rival, trying to ignore the way the dude's eyes bled shadows down his cheeks. "C-c'mon, man, what're you waiting for? I thought you were supposed to be the Pokeball guru or whatever. Throw one!" Throughout it all, as wrong as everything had gone, Yggy hadn't forgotten this was supposed to be a Catching Tutorial. FARFETCH'D (170/250 HP) - recalled TORRACAT (77/500 HP) - recalled OSHAWOTT (0/250 HP) - fainted PUNISHING BEAST 131/2000 4d100
