Alright, so he'd surveyed the Steppes, gotten totally lost in the Timberlands, now it was time to fuck around in the forest. All in the name of science and perhaps scoring a spicy dinner date with the professor.
You know, for science.
It was nice, the Steppes had a foreboding sense of grandioseness, the vastness of the landscape and size of the spires looming in the horizon could trigger agoraphobia in the most well versed traveler. The threat of a Yanma speeding out of the horizon to RKO you was never out of the question, and some of the threats he'd encountered there were nothing to shake a stick at. The Timberlands were well...fucking creepy. He'd had not one, but TWO encounters of the supernatural kind there, and he was not eager to go sprinting into a third without being especially prepared. This place felt...kinda cozy. It had a very...welcoming cottagecore sort of vibe. The paths wound around scenic trees that seemed to be in a constant state of autumn. Piles of red leaves sat at the base of tree's, delightfully inviting the passer by to gleefully yeet themselves inside.
It was pumpkin spice paradise, Orion had decided, and the perfect place to walk off some trauma from previous events. Maybe some day in the future he could drag someone out here to admire the sight with him. Perhaps the professor? Or maybe some babe he found here? It seemed like the perfect date place, a shame that he'd recently found himself single. Had he and Rin still been a thing he woulda splurged and copped a headset for her, dragging her kicking and screaming into his newest obsession.
His brow furrowed.
Was this an obsession? It wasn't like he didn't already make his living in VR. He paid his bills, he fought his fights, and he made sure to clock plenty of time outside the game working out and eating. He wasn't some sort of ghoul who spent 20 hours a day in bed, waking only to eat and shit. He'd kept some semblance of a balance to it all, but he couldn't help but think about the game when he was away. Fights were a way to make money, but they weren't giving him the raw thrill of decking C0D13. Spending time with the family was fun, but he couldn't help but think of his team sitting locked away in electronic oblivion everytime he logged out. He felt torn, one leg stuck in both worlds.
He supposed this walk could help him clear all of that out of his head.
