A delightful scent draws you in – warm, gentle, and welcoming. Freshly brewed tea. The sign that hangs over the door to the small store explains it all:
Tuesday’s T.E.A. Shop
…Or, maybe not? Why is “tea” capitalised? Why are there full stops between the letters? Is it some sort of acronym? The sign now appears cryptic, providing no answers as to what this may mean. The posters and flyers by the door also give no clear hints.
When the door opens, a bell rings, and what lies within is far from the few chairs and tables of a humble teashop. It is small, yes, but within there are wares of all sorts. Bytes aren’t the only thing of value in UNOVR, after all, and the owner of this “tea shop” will gladly accept a trade if someone offers something that grabs her attention.
And then there’s the bottles.
There’s only about two dozen at this point, new as the shop is, yet they are of all shapes and sizes. They all carefully line a shelf behind the counter. Before them stands a short woman of golden hair and pointed cat ears. She sips her cup of tea, and by her side, a friendly white Vulpix sits on the counter itself.

Taking the new mod for a stroll was a good idea, one he'd decided when he was found stroking his ears. Going new places doing new things, it was so much fun. All because he actually loved the way his avatar looked.
A big deal, cause he's not picky but that ADD comes in clutch ruining his opinions of what he does and doesn't like.
The sound of the bell has his ears twitching, head moving to look at the bell. Then he looks onward and inward, brows furrowed. He wonders if he can figure out what T.E.A. stands for, if it stands for anything. But instead of taking the long route, he heads straight for the one behind the counter next to–
"Oh, hello friend." He greets the Alolan Vulpix and then looks to the woman. "May I?"
Give pets, he means. He wants to give the adorable little dooder some pets.

Cat ears perk up at the sound of the bell, and it’s while she takes a sip of tea that the gaze of the store’s owner falls upon the newcomer – eyes of ruby and sapphire fixing upon Derk_TheJerk. The sight of his username causes eyebrows to raise into perfect arches for a second there.
A second later, she’s smirking.
"Sure. I don’t think Dante here minds. Do you?"
The Alolan Vulpix tilts his head, looking up at her. <'Uhmm… No? Maybe? What are we talking about?'> He turns to face the stranger, and this time it's his ears that perk up. He seems cheerful. Chatty, even. <'Hi hi! I’m Dante!'>
"I already said that." If anything, she’s entertained. Lowering her cup to the counter, Tuesday moves it closer to Dante. "Mind cooling this for me before anything? I feel like iced tea today."
<'Oh!'>
The little fox tilts his head, looking down at the porcelain cup. Blowing ever so gently onto it, he summons the mildest of ICY WINDS, freezing the edges of the cup and even some of the amber liquid.
Tuesday takes a sip.
Much better.

Watching the little darling work its magic on the tea has Derek enthralled, watching with a fond smile. "Do... you eventually get used to it?" Derek doesnt' have his speech turned on for Pokémon, so he just watches in wonder as they communicate. Contemplates turning his on after seeing it in action. But he's admittedly afraid he'll become too much of a recluse with it if he does turn it on. "Pokémon being like, I dunno. More real than before. It's insane, the amount of coding and technology involved. And it's crazy how real it is."Crazy how he wished, like with a lot of games, that it was real. Maybe he was just being odd. But he did move a hand to give Dante some scratches behind the ears, where he'd learned (embarrassingly at the cost of being witnessed by Furrlicity Purrfection) it wasn't arousing but felt nice.

She had never really thought about it. Not really. From an investor’s standpoint, the appeal a game like UNOVR had to the public can easily be divided into categories. For example: some people want to be able to do things they wouldn’t be able to do in real life, some people really enjoy the pokémon franchise, and some people are lonely and wish for close relationships even if it's with cute little talking abominations.
Looking at Derk_TheJerk while sipping her now icy cup of tea, Tuesday tilts her head, wondering how many of these categories he fits in.
"It sure is much more immersive, huh? But the game lets you do more than just catch and battle pokémon, which I think may just be the most interesting part."
Tuesday smirks, gesturing at her surroundings. At the cuffs of her blouse there are buttons shaped like adorable cat faces. It’s important to dress appropriately for the job, no? In this case, that means business casual for her.
Her tufted tail sways once, and as it does, she takes another sip of tea.
"What’s the coolest thing about it in your opinion? The game, I mean, not the shop… Although the shop too, while you’re here." At that, she winks.

"Super immersive, yeah." Derek confirms, just quick enough for the conversation to be left at that. Not with a tone meant to revive the comment.
Instead, he scratches at the Alolan Vuplix gently and thinks on the second, and like second b, questions asks.
"Hmmmm.... I think for the shop, it's seeing Chicago again." Derek doesn't look at her when he reveals he's the same 'white haired twink' most knew him as for a total of like three seconds when he first joined. "And as for the game, probably how 'real' it is, and the mystery of the coding behind it. The AI in all of the NPCs and the Pokémon are insane."
Now, don't let Derek fool you. The real reason he doesn't look at Tuesday when he 'reveals' he's 'Maine' is because he's worried she might catch onto how fast his heart is racing. Strangely enough, revealing little things like that make him anxious.
But being a church kid, he's annoyingly good at hiding how anxious he is in small little situations like this.

It takes her a second. It wouldn’t usually have, but the introduction at the Rookery had been spoken in passing, jokingly, and without a second thought. And, then there’s the other matter: he looks so different that there’s no way she could have possibly guessed this was the same scrawny white haired kid from back then.
Golden cat ears perk up once again.
"Ha. Well, look at you! Decided to have a glow up and join the club, hm? Can’t say I blame you. I like the fox ears. Very cute."
They remind her of those of her Fennekin, but where most people would perhaps feel a pang of guilt when suddenly thinking of the Pokémon that awaits them at the Everworld, Tuesday instead remains focused on the conversation.
"So, Maine, here to buy anything or just looking around?"
She raises a brow at him, taking a sip from her iced tea.

At first he worries if she won't remember. Perhaps he's overstepped in assuming people remember the same things he does. Which is amazing because he has the memory of a goldfish with pretty much everything but names, faces, and things he secretly obsesses over. Like people he views as cool or different.
"Thanks." She calls him cute and he thinks maybe he should make himself eat something cause his stomach did something weird and whatever feeling that was reminds him quickly of things he's lost to time and distance. Stomach flutters turn to aching scars quickly. She calls him Maine and he feels grounded.
The emotions fizzle out like shrinking shadows as the light of the conversation turns to a different topic. "I've never had a drink in game before. So I sought out the closest shop that could change that for me. The name caught my attention, the T.E.A. What's that stand for?"
Because now he's assuming she either owns the place or knows well enough about it to be behind the counter.

Tuesday's T.E.A Shop.
The truth is that Tuesday had seen the empty building and gotten an idea, one which begun at a catastrophic party while virtually drunk on questionable beer. She had catalogued all items in her inventory after that, carefully arranging them on shelves as Derk_TheJerk now sees them. A trade shop, but also... an apothecary shop, and all in all, a tea shop. One with no chairs or tables.
"Hmm... Well... What do you want it to mean?" She asks with the cheekiest of smirks, curiosity gleaming in her heterochromic gaze.
T.E.A could mean lots of things.
T.E.A means something different depending on Tuesday's mood for the day.
Still, the shop only opens on Tuesdays.
"I can make you something, if you want?" Her attention turns to the shelves then, looking through bottles. No offense to Derek, but he looks like he could use a pick-me-up. Tuesday knows just the right stuff.

Derek would take no offense at all because he could always use a pick-me-up. There hadn't been a day in nearly a decade where he hadn't needed a pick-me-up. It's what created a string of habits that was very expensive to break at the time, or so his parents are constantly reminding him.
If you relapse, it's on our dime, you know.
But those thoughts are far from him. They usually are when he games, which is why he does it. Some people read, and he's tried, but his dyslexia and ADD make it impossible to focus enough to get through a book. He's gotta wait for his hyper focus to kick in, that's the only way he can function properly enough to get through a book.
"Yeah!" He agrees to having something made by her, for him. "Sure. Whatever you suggest."
He's not super picky, and maybe she'll give him a personality quiz and pick a drink just for him. Or maybe she'll give him her favorite.
Either way, he's stoked to figure out what Chicago's got in store for him.

The first pokémon Tuesday had caught in UNOVR had been a Petilil, and of course, she had had no idea what the fuck it was. That had resulted in Mars leaving the avatar on idle to look up the species, and after a quick search, the Bulbapedia article about it had delivered some interesting pokédex entries:
This had obviously sparked some interesting thoughts: Do a Petilil’s leaves have the same effects in UNOVR as the pokedex claims? What happens to someone who eats one? What do they actually taste like?
Ever inquisitive in nature and known to be one fond of experiments, Tuesday had run more than a few tests before even getting the idea to open the shop. Thus, here we are now, with the blend she prepares for Derk_TheJerk:
With Petilil leaves and a few other ingredients, the tea actually proves itself to be minty fresh instead of bitter, filling those who drink it with both blithe and energy. It’s delightful, although some do often end up feeling incredibly hungry afterwards…
A cup is carefully poured, as if she has done this a million times before, yet she still smirks as if amused.
"There you go. Enjoy." |

There is something in the amusement across Tuesday's face that makes Derek want to be skeptical. But how can he? She's cool and collected, she pours it without thinking twice, confidently offers it to him. He's enraptured, entranced, enchanted—all the en words, y'know?
So in light of them all, skeptical is swept under the rug. His naive curiosity wins out and he takes the cup and sniffs. His ears perk up, his tail swishes happily in excitement and he looks to Chigaco.
Whatever ounce of 'cool' he'd been trying to work up is almost immediately gone in light of childlike wonder. He sniffs, can feel the warmth, and cautiously tastes with a twitch to one of his ears.
"Y'know, I'm more of a coffee guy, but this is pretty good. I might finish the whole cup."
