CAT TOWER A hundred Patrat are loose in the Tower, and each of them are highly trained in the defensive arts. With their unique mix of movement speed, dodging pattern, and programmed resistance, these rats are nearly invincible. However, each of them has a single weakness, which you must exploit to take them out. They might be weak to a certain element, a specific type of attack, or even require a combination of moves and base power to defeat!
GOALMake a post using your Pokemon to fulfil the TOWER PROMPT from the person above you. E.g. 'Use a Fire-type move'. Standard posting expectations still apply, so at least one paragraph of your showdown with the Patrat is required!
Once you are happy with your epic clash, make sure to end your post with the code below (removing the #'s) to generate a prompt for the person who is posting next! You can also hit the "tower" button in the reply/quick reply window.

TIPSSome of the prompts can get a little tricky, so we recommend using a Pokemon website like Serebii.net or pokemondb.net to look up your Pokemon's moves. This will let you exploit the weaknesses of those damn Patrat, and wipe them out as soon as possible!

REWARD CHECKPOINTSAt periodic checkpoints, all players who have posted in the Tower Challenge since the last checkpoint will be able to claim a a Pokemon! The type of Pokemon is based on the theme of the Tower. This time, the theme is Cat Pokemon.
The Cat Tower has a hundred Patrat, which means 100 challenges to complete! It also means ample rewards for those who knock out the little rodents.

In some ways, the Cat Tower did not live up to its name. Ages ago it had been furnished with delicate, feline motif, but wood carvings don't really 'set the tone' when they've been chewed to nubs by a hundred rats. The Meowth statues at the entrance were so disfigured that Big Bee didn't even recognize them. "Are they Mew? No, they have little fangs. Litten? The head is too smooth. Charmander?"
Inside, the first floor was all wooden pillars and sliding doors. "I'm here for the challenge!" Big Bee called, and something scurried away in an adjoining room. "There! Taka, chase that rat!"
Squirtle leapt from his shoulder and took off after the Patrat. He crashed shell-first through an ornate yet terribly thin frame, following the rat as it shot through a gap in the paper screens. Squirtle was a good hand wider than the Patrat and there was a squeal of wood on wet-shell as he pushed through the gap.
Big Bee noticed another trainer had joined them, and he called out for some help. "I'll scare the Patrat around and you hit it from the front, okay?"
There was a mighty detonation of brittle wood as Squirtle threw himself at the target, missing his TACKLE and instead crashing through a section of wall and disappearing in a burst of light as the bright sunlight shone through the makeshift exit.

"Holy cow, you blasted right through it!"The blonde teen who joined Big Bee in the tower didn't stop to gawk for long. He sent out his Oshawott, who landed on the ground next to one of the ornate cat dividers. "Go, go, go! Wind 'er up and... TACKLE!"Watson crouched, tensing his muscles, and launched himself like a flying slab of meat at the Patrat the moment it reappeared. The otter's dome-shaped head collided with the rat, sending it soaring out the same hole the Squirtle had originally made. Yggy rushed to the gap to watch the little body vanish into thin air halfway to the ground and cheered, miming a bat. "Aaaand that's a home run! Nice work, Watty!" <Sure thing, partner!> the Oshawott exclaimed, thumping his rudder on the wooden floorboards. Giving his starter a thumbs-up, Yggy waved at the tall trainer who'd entered the tower before him. "Hey Big Bee! There's more Patrat hiding somewhere on this level, right? I was hoping to grind in here." OSHAWOTT USED TACKLE!

Manish had his arms wrapped around himself, hoping that if he did a good enough job of compressing down his gangly body he could skate by this tower by just, well, hiding with his Bulbasaur. However that plan was shattered first by a Squirtle shaped hole appearing near him and then the body of what looked like a rat soaring through the same hole. Manish let out a very manly squeak and scampered to another wooden pole to try to hide behind. Unfortunately for him, another Patrat jumped out from what was supposed to be his salvation. Manish tried to backpedal and immediately tripped over his own feet, landing with a thud on the ground. As the Patrat started to approach him, though, Ryan leapt over Manish’s crumpled legs and placed himself between Manish and the rat. <How do you want me to handle this?> Ryan called back to Manish. “Uhhhhh…well,” now Manish found himself struggling to answer since he didn’t actually know that ‘handling’ was an option. “Just uh, just do what we already saw work. Yeah! Yeah, do that same thing!” Is it copying? Maybe. Does Manish care? As long as that nasty rat stays away from him he really could not be bothered. Without further hesitation Ryan charged the Patrat, throwing his considerable bulk against the Patrat. With a meaty thunk Ryan sent the rat flying. “Woah, neat” Manish said in mild awe before realizing he was, in fact, still on the ground. He flipped himself over onto his stomach and used his arms to push back up onto his feet. Manish gave a sheepish wave to the others in the room. “I suppose we are here to help” he gestured down to Ryan who was still looking rather smug. BULBASAUR USED TACKLE!

"Nice hit Bro!" Big Bee called back, smiling fraternally as Yggy Br00ks knocked the Patrat out of existence. "Yeah I hear more scurrying around. I think they just keep respawning until we defeat them all!"A suave, older man burst onto the scene with a Bulbasaur. Big Bee relaxed. Oh good. Another adult. So I'm not weird. He gave Manish a friendly wave, before the Bulbasaur hurled itself at Patrat, knocking the enemy out with a well placed Tackle. "Glad to have your help! I'm Big Bee!" he said, before a worrying realization dawned on him. Bulbasaur had used Tackle. Big Bee bit his lip. He did a quick mental check. The only move he'd seen in game so far was Tackle, he realized. Did they forget to add in other attacks? "Hey Squirtle, do you know any other moves?" Taka turned around and stuck out his rubbery beak in a kissy face. There was a gurgle from somewhere inside, and then a thin stream of warm water shot from his mouth and right onto Big Bee's right shoe. "Whoa! Not cool!" Big Bee shouted, skin crawling at the simulated feel of wet sock. "No more Water Gun. Just stick to Tackle okay? Quick! Here comes the next rat!" Unsurprisingly, a fourth Patrat was running riot, skittering between the pillars and climbing up the walls with its wild agility. Squirtle ran after it with worrying enthusiasm, his little turtle beak clicking with each preparatory bite. "No biting! Just stick to Tackle!" Big Bee called, cringing at the thought of that sharp beak chomping down on anything. He'd seen videos of turtles eating, and those mouth plates might as well be a pair of dental guillotines. Squirtle chomped in understanding and threw himself into the wall, knocking down the Patrat and stunning it. Another dry, toothless Tackle, and the Patrat was down. "Woo! Bring on number 5!"1d100

Yggy had a great idea. Using his expert knowledge of Pokemon, he remembered that Patrat (a Normal-type) had a single, incredible weakness. "Let's use Fighting!"Watson didn't have any Fighting-type moves, but he bet the Chimchar he'd caught in the Crater did! He'd been going to sell it to someone for some extra BYTES, but maybe it could get them out of a pinch now! Yggy sent out his Chimchar. It landed on the floor of the tower, wild-eyed and scared. "Don't worry, Chymchar, we're just fighting Patrat," Yggy said quickly to reassure it, making sure to emphasize the Y he'd edited into its name. He pointed at the rat which had just popped its head whack-a-mole style out of the wall. "Use your powerful PUNCH on it! C'mon, I'm sure you can do it!" He'd seen manish's Rival's Chimchar do it, right? The fire monkey gamboled forwards, swinging its hands. One of them cracked across the cheek of a scurrying Patrat, which immediately hit the floorboards and dissipated into a spray of translucent pixels. "Woohoo!" Yggy cheered. "Now we just..."The walls of the tower were trembling slightly. Yggy took a step back, as did both his Pokemon. "Uh... guys? I feel like... a lot more Patrat are coming."Were they the underdogs? Did nobody else have a Fighting-type move? WTF! Yggy yelled as a Patrat bounced off the top of his head, dropping down from a hole in the ceiling. It wasn't really painful, more like getting hit by a stuffed animal, but it was upsetting having that line crossed, you know? Chimchar's hands were now surrounded by a soft glow, as if its lucky strike on the Patrat from before had powered it up. Wait... "Wreck that Patrat, Chymchar!" Yggy exclaimed. The monkey's next Power-Up Punch swung wide, but the glow only intensified as the chimp closed in on its rodent prey. The rat dodged behind one of the cat-shaped screens, but the Chimchar's fist smashed right through it, sizzling through the paper and leaving crinkling black edges curling behind it. It was time for a little... FEMININE ENERGY!
While these three NERDS were fighting those Patrat, Allotta strolled right in! She was ready to kick butt and make a name for herself! She was cooler now!
"I have a bug!" She called out to the others, as if they would care, before holding the Wurmple she had traded for over her head. Her whole fist was wrapped around it's middle. The insect wriggled a bit but otherwise seemed... blank. Eyes crossed. Nothing going on up there. Bethany said he had had his shots, but like... what kind of shots....
"Oh shit!!!" She yelped when a fucking RAT jumped at her. She pointed the Wurmple at the Patrat, squeezing him lightly, making him shoot out a String Shot into the Patrat's face. The rat gasped as if it had been shot by, like a gun instead of harmless white goop. It grabbed it's little chest, took a few steps back, then twirled in a circle before falling over. It even crossed it's eyed and stuck it's tongue out to add to the effect.
Allotta looked between the rat and the bug she still had firmly grasped in her palm.
"Woo! Next! Come on!" Pumping her fists, and jostling the Wurmple further, she jogged further inside to meet up with the #party.

As soon as everyone’s eyes were off of Manish and back towards the scurrying Patrat he scooped up Ryan and ducked behind another pillar. “You know, I don’t think they need our help, they probably got this definitely.” Several stressed induced mushrooms started to grow in his hair as another Patrat ran close to him and he squeezed his Bulbasaur close to his chest. <Manish! We can help! Lemme at ‘em!> Ryan tried to slip itself out of Manish’s grip but the man refused to budge. With a new voice in the room, Manish peeked out from behind the pillar he was hiding behind “See, look, another person. They absolutely got this.” He turned back around to lean against his pillar but came face to face with another Patrat. There was a moment of silence where both were frozen, staring into each other’s eyes. A single mushroom sprouted out of Manish’s hair, the image of it reflected in the Patrat’s large eyes. Momentarily distracted by his own reflection Manish started to reach up to his own hair to investigate the sudden fungi in his hair. The movement, though, sparked the Patrat back into action who let out a horrid hiss directly into Manish’s face. Screaming, Manish threw himself backwards lifting Ryan up to cover his face <I got this!> The bulbasaur said, opening up the pink bloom on it’s back slightly to shoot out the Poison Powder that resided inside directly into the hissing face of the Patrat. Manish landed on the ground with a thump a moment before the Patrat also fell down. It staggered around, coughing and gagging. The Patrat stumbled off past Manish back through a hole. Ryan and Manish looked at each other and the Bulbasaur shrugged. “We got another one because we are contributing and not hiding at all!” Manish yelled from his spot on the floor. BULBASAUR USED POISON POWDER!

"Nice teamwork everyone!" Big Bee called over the growing ruckus. The ancient rodent hotel creaked ominously around him as he flashed a grin at the other trainers. The auto-party activated, grouping them all together, and a string of trainer names slid into position at the side of his UI, along with a counter.
Tower of Cats: 5.333% complete!
That definitely shouldn't be a percentage, he thought, doing the math in his head. "Eight down! We're almost at the first checkpoint!" he called to his fellow trainers. He flicked through the party menu, turning up the voices and turning down the background noise until it was just a series of dull crashes and crunches.
Unfortunately, the voices slider didn't differentiate between Pokemon and players, and a half-second later the infuriated Taka roared his complaints across the voice chat line. <THAT CHIMCHAR STOLE MY KILL! WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS?>
Big Bee cringed, turning down the volume. "We're working together, Taka. There's no such thing as kill-stealing in a co-op challenge."
<Then let me get the kills!> Squirtle hurtled along one of the corridors, leaving a trail of brine as he built up speed, approaching the corner. <Ready....and....> As he reached the corner, a Patrat, startled by one of the other trainers, rounded the bend, and Squirtle spun around, carried the last ten feet through the air by the surging power of his Aqua Tail.
The last thing the Patrat saw was Taka's torrential ass.
<Kill steal THAT you steaming monkey!> he shouted at Yggy Br00ks 's Chimchar.

Emperor definitely wouldn't be pleased that Finn was entering this Tower Challenge without him, but what the Piplup didn't know while nestled in his Pokeball wasn't going to hurt either of them.
Finn grips the newly christened 'Caiman' like a water gun, gripping his tail for support and aiming him at the Patrat. Unfortunately, the Totodile seems surprisingly docile in comparison to the absolute menace that had torn a chunk out of Finn's hand on the Coastline. What was that all about?
"Come on," Finn complains, and taps the Water-type on his side.
Apparently, that's like hitting Caiman's 'POWER' button. The Totodile suddenly starts kicking, squirming, and squabbling in his grip, until the slippery little guy gets free of his trainer's hold and launches himself from Finn's shoulder toward the onslaught of rats.
He's angry. He's riled. He's RAGING. Which happens to give him the +1 ATK BOOST that the game is looking for.

Finnegan Fjord 's wriggling reptile rages at the rat, knocking it out and gaining that all-important stat boost. As it does, those with default settings notice a popup appear in the corner of their screen, alerting them to the reward they have just received.

The next reward will be unlocked at 20 Patrat.

Big Bee returned Taka. The Squirtle was getting far too into this violence, and was still screaming threats across the group channel.
<IF I SEE YOU TAKE ANOTHER KILL CHIMCHAR I'LL BITE YOUR FU-> A beam of light shot towards Taka, and he was sucked back into his Pokeball, leaving a clear and ringing absence across the channel.
"Sorry about him," Big Bee said, trying to smooth over the awkward silence. He spotted another Patrat lurking behind a door, and a notification popped up, alerting him to its weakness.
Big Bee replaced the abrasive Taka with his Fennekin, who was still covered in ash. He'd tried to wash her off, but she had staunchly refused. Her markings looked fresh though. Was she hiding charcoal in her cheeks?
Fennekin eyed her prey. She slunk along the corridor, her charcoal markings blending into the shadows of the tower. She slid into striking distance. There was a split of pink in the darkness as she opened her mouth, and the double-triangle of open mouth flashed with indelicate light as raring Embers spat forth.
The Patrat squeaked, scrambling too late to avoid the ambush, and was hit by the ball of flame.
It collapsed, spoking like an abandoned campfire.

Unfortunately for Finn, Big Bee isn't the only one having trouble with his Pokémon's temperament. Caiman taking out the Patrat had been all well and good, but now the feisty alligator was in a frothing, uncontrollable rage with no outlet.
Except the other, allied Pokémon.
Sensing impending disaster, Finn recalls the raging Water-type and switches back to his starter. Emperor fluffs out his feathers and looks back at Finn with evident annoyance upon realising where they are, but Finn blessedly can't hear the foul insults hurled his way.
"Yeah, yeah," he says dismissively, "Put that beak to work on the rats."
There's a derisive squawk from his starter before Emperor waddles over to one of the seemingly infinite Patrat and PECKS at it with his beak.

"Oh, shi—" Yggy blanched visibly as he was subjected to the ranting Squirtle. Not knowing if he'd done something wrong, he began to panic. "Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'll put it away!" So terrified he almost dropped the Pokeball, the blonde youth ran forward to recall his Chimchar before Big Bee's Squirtle could blast it off the side of the tower like another one of the oh-so-unfortunate Patrat. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!"...What had he done again? "I didn't even know kill stealing was a thing in this game, I swear," Yggy went on earnestly, standing by Big Bee's elbow. He pulled on his adopted game-brother's hoodie. "You're not mad, right, bro?"He stood by for a couple of turns until he was absolutely sure nobody else was going for the next Patrat, then released his new Pokemon (not Chimchar, who he was never using again, holy cow). A strong, strapping mallard materialized on the floor of the tower, oversized leek held over one shoulder. "Hi, Ducker! You can use Brutal Swing, right? Do it on that Patrat!"<Quack, quack,> Ducker said in a deep and lofty tone. Leek in the crook of one wing, the Farfetch'd spun around, driving the blunt end of the leek into the closest Patrat's gut like a two-by-four. The Patrat didn't squeak in pain—it was more like an uhhngh. "Woohoo!" Yggy yelled, pumping a fist, then looked around quickly to make sure nobody was yelling at him. FARFETCH'D USED BRUTAL SWING!
